Craving sushi served with a quickness? This place has great food and great service. I was literally surprised at how fast they prepared their food and how good it was. Been there twice with friends and we will be going again later on. It is yummy!

Consistently good sushi especially for the Tri-Cities! Because of this, you can often expect a wait but it is worth it.

another totally phony chinese joint masquerading as a Japanese sushi restaurant loaded with the usual fake reviews for just another strip mall joint .they know the tricities is easy to pull this off especially since very few people have ever experienced real Japanese cooking. 99% in the sushi/japanese are pure fakes plus you are not even getting good chinese, it’s a rip off… Google fake japanese!

I have to admit, while I was sitting at the sushi bar watching my order being made, it took me a moment to wrap my mind around the idea of a Hispanic sushi chef. Then again, it’s not the first sushi place I’ve been to that wasn’t run by Japanese, so I’m not sure why it should be an issue. And in fact, it didn’t turn out to be an issue, because the food and service was actually quite good. I ordered the regular size sushi combo along with a Caterpillar roll; unlike most other sushi places I’ve been to, Sushi Ya allows you to choose which three types of nigiri you would like(you get 2 of each) as well as allowing you to choose between a California roll and a ‘crunch roll’. I chose salmon, tuna, and unagi nigiri and the crunch roll. The fish seemed very fresh, and the portions on the nigiri were quite generous, sliced thickly and overhanging the rice by quite a bit on the ends. The rolls were also quite nice, and I did appreciate the miso soup and salad that came with the order as well. Not the most upscale sushi place I’ve ever been to, but very acceptable for the Tri-Cities. When I am back in the area, I will probably return.

Best sushi in eastern Washington!!! I always have Calle as a server and she is amazing!!! The rolls are HUGE, so come hungry. Sometimes they seem under staffed, but it never bothers me. You can tell the fish is fresh and not frozen. I live in Seattle, so whenever I come here to visit I make sure to stop in here for the most amazing sushi I’ve ever tried.

Very delicious and fresh with a good selection.
I’m from Seattle and was a little hesitant to get sushi in Tri-Cities, not that I’m a snob but if you want good fish get it near the water, right? I was wrong! The food was as good as any sushi place I’ve been to.
I would 100% recommend the rainbow roll, though I admit being in the area a short period of time I haven’t had the chance to try many different things. It was a large portion roll with a fair sized piece of fish of each type. I also tried the Godzilla roll(deep friend soft shell crab, cream cheese, eel) and it was ENORMOUS; it was probably over twice the size of a regular roll and would be impossible to eat a piece in a single bite. Definitely be in the mood for tempura if you order this! The last thing I got(yes, I ordered too much!) was the spicy tuna hand roll and it was good too(though my personal preference is for them to be slightly more spicy).
I went on a Friday night(around 7:30) and every table was taken with a few groups waiting; a steady stream continued to arrive and when I left at 8:30 people were still waiting(even though there was room for some of the groups of two to sit at the bar, people are weird). The place isn’t that large and there were 4+ servers with multiple people preparing the sushi. You might wait a bit longer when it’s busy but that’s obviously because it’s good, and worth waiting for.

REALLY good sushi place in the strip mall, I never would have noticed it if it wasn’t for catching it on Unilocal.Really authentic vibe inside, and all the sushi we got was amazing. Highly recommended.

Very good sushi. I had the monkey brains to start, which was very delicious. As for sushi I had the samurai and the paradise. Both were great, one spicy and the other wasn’t.

An interesting place for Sushi. In a strip mall but hey no big deal. 12 tabletops and a Sushi bar = small. Service – okay, although completely understaffed for a Saturday but they managed. But what about the Sushi? Well that’s the reason they got a 3 star rating. The rolls are larger than normal and they have a price to match. However it’s well worth the price. Bring your appetite because you won’t leave hungry. This place is a solid 3 star and well worth the time. Just make sure you have enough of it.

This place feels like it was taken from Seattle or Portland and placed in a strip mall in Kennewick. They have an awesome variety of rolls and very fresh sushi. The other items on the menu definitely can not be neglected they have a few delicious pork and chicken dishes. The service has been great each of my visits. The sushi chefs are well skilled(itamae status.) I love big flavors and would definitely go for the Monkey Brain roll. You should support this hidden jewel by partaking in a sushi feast.

By far my favorite sushi place in the Tricities. Always fresh and delicious. So many cool rolls to choose from. My husband and I have yet to try one we didn’t like. The staff is always so kind, service is great!

I’m from Hawaii so I may have been spoiled as far as quality sushi goes. Haven’t tried sushi anywhere in the Tri-Cities until last night and found that this place is a total gem. The miso soup, yummy roll, and super tempura roll were all great! Beautiful presentation. Will definitely be back.

They have really good and fresh sushi. This is one of the top 2 places I go to for sushi. Their rolls are HUGE so it’s worth the price. I get full off of a single roll. The service is hit and miss sometimes but the sushi is consistent. I have not tried their cooked foods like teriyaki, etc because I only come here for sushi.

I haven’t tried all the sushi restaurants in Tri-Cities but I’ve been to enough sushi restaurants around the US to know quality fish. And this place kicks ass! I was seriously blown away by the freshness and flavor of the saba(mackerel) on top of their seasoned rice. The salmon was tender, buttery and sweet like good salmon should be. The creamy scallops were just as delectable with little bits of roe in it. Their rolls were pretty big and tasty. No, it’s not super spicy even though it may say spicy but the reality is if you make the food too spicy and a customer complains, it gets sent back to the kitchen and the restaurant wastes the food. So I understand it’s quite difficult to please everyone. Personally, we loved the Samurai roll and will pass on the Kamakazi roll next time. Sushi or sashimi is a must. As for service, I thought our waitress was fine. Nothing great but she was attentive enough where I didn’t even have to wave anyone down. Oh, and do expect a little bit of a wait on the weekends.

I’m always leery of sushi made by non Asian workers. Please don’t get me wrong a true Itamae interns for 10 years before he can make sushi. Tonight my rolls were made by a nice enough fellow and they were acceptable but made with way too much rice. The second issue I had was my two rolls were served separately. This allows the restaurant to dictate how you decide to eat. A total ball drop if you ask me. Make both rolls deliver them let the guest decide how much of each they should eat. The waitress were decent but again nobody checked to see if I was happy. They left my salad bowl and menu on the table through meal and after the sushi maker delivered my second roll nobody bussed the first empty plate. The second waitress filled my water once. My waitress brought my bill without asking if I wanted dessert or anything else. The experience all seemed sort of phoned in. Based on some of the Unilocal reviews I read I was hoping to like this place and in reality it was decent but I’ve had much better. My search remains for a great sushi joint in the tri cities area.

For my money, this is the best sushi in town, with a wide selection of offerings and creative presentations. The sushi never tastes overly«fishy» and always seems fresh. The chefs are authentic and can be entertaining if you engage them in conversation. I was curious about the soft shell tempura crab, so I tried it. It was pretty good! I had just never eaten a full shelled crab in tempura style, so i appreciated something little off the wall I had never tried before. Bring a few friends, get a boat and a Sapporo! The salad that comes with the meal is a tad gross, i just push it to the side.
