I had one of the best meals of my life here, it’s also when I realized I love sea food, especially crab! I cant comment on the service because I was with a large group and never spoke to a server.

Wow, super sorry to hear they closed! NOT!!! The service here sucked! The food was mediocre at best and not sure how they survived so long. After a really bad experience where the waiter was almost non-existent(showed up only at the end to collect his tip, which we gave to the waitress who actually did his job for him), we vowed never to return to this location. Kihei has much better service and the restaurant seems more welcoming. It seemed if you were local, the service and attitude was bound to suck. If you were a tourist, chances are you’d get fair service. Too bad, as local people can make or break a place. Good riddance!

Am familiar with the Lahaina Outback. Walked in at 4:07 pm, door signs say Open At 4:00 pm. Not a staff member in sight, was dark and empty. We sat ourselves at the bar, were not greeted by anyone. A bartender was trying to serve a draft beer to the other guest who came in before us. No tap beers would pour. Bartender left to do something. We waited, dumbfounded, and walked out at 4:17 pm after not being acknowledged. Not what I expected from Outback.

I would give no stars if that was an option. This place sucks and is a disgrace to the outback brand. Generally you know that the food is not going to be out of this world, but you know that you can get a good meal and its not going to cost to an arm and a leg. We went into this outback and there was little to nobody in the restaurant, which is sum what uncommon for maui, most places if they are good are generally busy. We sat down and I could tell the contentious behavior in the room, there was two upset customers who were aggravated at the front end wait staff, one guy said he waited 15 minutes for his bill. Our server came over to us and took our drink order 15 minutes after we walked in. 5 minutes after that he grabbed a chair, sat down at the table and took our order. He spoke with a whispering voice. Throughout our whole dining experience he was probably one of the worst waiters I have ever had. He was on his own agenda and didn;t care about the customers. The food was ok, but our food’s temperature was warm not hot. Outback’s cut back and gone cheap on their side dishes which is terrible. If you are looking for a place to eat, you are better off eating fast food then going to this place.

Me n my family of 10 were having a. Great happy hour dinner… I took my 8 ur. Old son to the bathroom. When we got there the bathroom was flooded with pee and pooo water… My 8 yr. old n myself had our feet covered on sewage … I asked a waiter to get there manager to tell them about the mess and complain about my gross experience when the manager came… she told me to calm down and then kicked me n my family out of the restraunt. I can’t believe how unprofessional the manager acted… She … Jennifer called the cops on us because we were grossed out n swore once… She needs to handle the situation a whole lot more professional n sanitary… We are very disgusted n shocked at how they handled the situation!!!

Thought we’d try the Outback being from Australia. Sorry folks no where near what we would eat back home. The steak dinner was boring and so was the pork chop with no wood fired grilled flavour at all. The only thing is the price was reasonable.

This was a very typical Outback, which on one of the Hawaiian Islands, is nice. We honestly would not have gone to a chain like this while on vacation. We prefer to try local places, but we had gift cards and wanted to save some money. The food and service at this location was pretty good. My only complaint is that the Wedge Salad I ordered was very skimpy on the blue cheese dressing. Service was OK.

Had a great dining experience, but mainly because our waitress was really awesome! The steaks were yummy too… and the quesadilla appetizer rocked! So much better than some of the other Outbacks we’ve been to. 5 stars to this one!

This is probably my favorite place to eat in Lahaina. I’ve been here twice and both times it was great. I always leave stuffed. There are a lot of bad reviews about this place. I have to admit, a crab appetizer that was ordered tasted funky… not bad, just… chicken salad-y? But I had quesadillas that were so hot and tasty. Service is friendly but not overly on top of you. They took off the crab appetizer, too. So yes, Outback can mess up. They have a lot of orders to fill and nobody is perfect. But I’m sure they’d be willing to fix it for you. Bottom line: Eat here w/confidence. If your food is that BAD, they will fix it for you. Just ask!

Ok for most people Outback is that place to have a nice night out to dinner, without going bankrupt. For myself its a running joke in our family to celebrate everyones birthday here at outback. The food is usually good, but they can sometimes be inconsistent. Steak is usually good, for a chain restaurant, the baked potatoes can sometimes be either dry or perfectly done. Caesar salad is pretty much always good. Appetizers like the Quesadilla are usually dry, the wings are great, except sometimes they are huge and sometimes they are tiny. This place is really hit or miss, and the service falls in line with the food. Sometimes you’ll get great service water refilled when you need, food coming out at proper times, and then you’ll get the server who seems as if they’ve never waited on a table before, forget you are there, and only ask how you are doing when they drop your check. So be cautios

You know what I love about outback? It’s consistently delicious food. Yeah it might not be the best filet you’ve ever had, but its the same quality anywhere and everywhere and it’s just plain good. We went to this location last night for dinner and it was great! Our server was fantastic — always on top of things, very nice. For an appetizer we had the cheese fries because cheese fries are awesome. They were delicious as usual. Highly recommend — I like them more than the blooming onion! For my entrée I had the filet with lobster Mac and mashed potatoes. Really just carb overloading lol. It was all great. Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, lobster Mac was awesome, and the mashed potatoes were great too! My husband had the burger and he said it was amazing. Overall — fantastic.

It’s a chain so you are supposed to get the same quality everywhere… except in Lahaina! Service is bad and slow… they cooking standards are completely off! We had cocktails and appetizers… but our entrees only came an hour later! in order to get a refill you have to wait 10mn and the restaurant was empty. We steak arrived I ask for medium-rare I end-up with a rare steak all the way! I cut in half and it was all red a bloody when I call the waiter he argued with me that this was medium-rare instead of apologizing and just bring it back to the kitchen to cook it right. Bottom line, I will pass on the outback Lahaina.

First time eating at this Outback Steakhouse location. Running the Maui Marathon on the day after, it was interesting to be eating at a steakhouse, but it’s all good really. Protein loading before carb loading works pretty good. I was here celebrating my birthday with friends and it was pretty darn amazing. Basically, Outback Steakhouse is one of the better Steakhouse franchises that are pretty good to average. The service is good and the food is quite good too. Celebrating my 33rd birthday in conjunction with the Maui Marathon with friends was just a perfect combination that just was an amazing weekend to kick off an amazing year to come. I agree that Outback Steakhouse, like any other steakhouses can be spendy, especially on Maui when everything already is spendy as it is. We sat at one of the outside tables to just have that semi private outdoor ambiance and it was good, up until the gardener person decided to trim the hedges along the property while we ordered our meals and we had to just talk louder. It really did not spoil the mood, but it was a small buzz kill. I ended up having the porterhouse, which a friend of mine advised me on doing so. It came with a serving of garlic mash and broccolii florets, which were very tender and flavorful. Maybe you could tell that they buy from Costco, but I’m not saying. lol. It was a wonderful luncheon and I could not have spent it better while on Maui. Located in Lahaina at the Kahana Gateway mall, which is basically next door to the Lahaina Cannery Mall, you can’t really miss this place, unless you drive too dam fast along Hwy 30. I also ordered a strawberry margaurita, but it came out the liquid kind, and not frozen like how Chili’s does it. Oh well, maybe I should have asked first. Still, it was a pleasant meal and the service — like mentioned before, was very good. I would recommend eating here if you are in the neighborhood and need a place to go eat, instead of being in the hotels. Support local! B+

If you can’t nail«rare» in a steakhouse… I worry for you. I had been to 2 other locations in this chain before, with a 50⁄50 success rate. I had heard that this location was quite good, so off we went. First off, the place is VERY dark. If you are lucky enough to be in the bar dining area, you may see daylight; in the main room, forget it. They finally lifted the shades up once the sun had almost set. Oh well. Service was a little unusual, since our waitress had a trainee shadowing her. She seemed competent enough though, so we didn’t mind. We ordered the Bloomin’ Onion as an app for the table. Good god, I’m surprised the grease in that baby didn’t make both the plate and table transparent. But it’s still sooo good… I tried the drink special, the Watermelon Margarita, which was quite tasty and refreshing. Unfortunately, they brought both a glass of water and a mug of beer to the bf that had CRACKS in them. He noticed the beer was leaking and let the waitress know. She apologized and brought him a new one, which we assumed was just handling a customer service issue without a problem. For my dinner, I chose the Outback Special(which I thought was on the Great Barrier Eats seasonal menu, but maybe I’m wrong). In this case, the meal included their Signature Sirloin(8 oz?) paired with Snow Crab legs. It was supposed to be served with a dressed baked potato, but I love a good wedge salad at a steakhouse, and they accommodated my substitution without complaint. They actually make a very good and generous wedge. I need more dressing if you’re gonna make it that big though! Then came the entrees. My poor steak. I ALWAYSGETRARE. How hard is rare, really? Sear on one side, repeat on other– we’re good! I often(only half-jokingly) say that you can just run the cow through a hot kitchen and I will probably be happy. My steak looked great on the outside, but was Medium at best. Despite being encouraged by everyone at the table to send it back, I just went with the laid-back, Hawaiian spirit and let it go. Meat is still meat, and I can deal with medium. The crab legs were a good size and fairly moist. The bad thing about being the only one ordering crab in a group is you will probably be the slowest/last person eating, so I packed 2 legs(requesting lemon and drawn butter as well) to go. So while the food was decent that night, it was far from stellar. Upon checking the bill, we also discovered that our waitress CHARGED for the second beer! WTF? Excuse me, but it was not OUR fault that you use crappy, cracked glasses, and then she hadn’t even asked if he wanted another one. We questioned the fact that she was training a new employee, but acknowledged that the place was super busy that night. Still, for my first time at this location, I was not very impressed and I think better meals could be had at many other nearby locations.

I wouldn’t recommend going to Outback while on Maui– be prepared to pay premiums for all the meat which is shipped from the mainland! For example, their sirloin+snow crab combo was advertised on Unilocal for $ 13.99 but in Maui it was $ 21.99~ Nice waiting area outside– no menus and place settings, just those tall tables… overlooking a nice view of the road, shopping center, and strip mall across the street. *I ordered the 6oz OutbackSpecial… rare… was kind of tough, but perhaps its because I ordered it rare… The seasoning wasn’t perfect, very very basic pepper tasting… *Garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and flavorful… *And the bleu cheese wedge salad is perfect with sliced cherry tomatoes, Maui sweet onions, and bleu cheese crumbles… The hot wings were also tasty. good fresh when they’re crispy. not old the next day lol Spinach artichoke dip comes with home made baked pita chips !! Very. creamy Great service…

Worked a looooong day… and was SUPER hungry! I know I should be eating at places that are only on Maui… but damnit, I was craving prime rib! And normally Outback is my faaaave spot for some yummy season and seared prime rib! Made the long drive to Kaanapali from Wailuku and stopped by Outback to make some takeout. The staff is SUPER friendly… matter of fact, everyone that I’ve come across on Maui has been super friendly! They have soooo much aloha! I ordered the prime rib seasoned and seared medium with a loaded mashed potato and a caesar salad. I waited about 20 minutes before the order was ready. I sat by the hostess stand and this is your average Outback Steakhouse. Dimly lit, wooden floors, brown seating, etc etc. Got back to the hotel and began to dig in. Prime rib was cooked perfectly. Baked potato was average. And I LOVE the caesar dressing at Outback. The lettuce was crispy and fresh! I even got a whole order of bread(the one they serve when you dine in) with take out butter. YUMMYYUMMYDINNER! I think the total with tip was around $ 35? It’s okay, I was getting per diem money for food anyway, heehee. BTW, male servers are CUTE! :)

OK. Based on the Unilocal reviews I see, there are a few who happen to really like this place in Lahaina. I am going to be one of those dissenters that say otherwise. And yes, I was duped by the minimal amount of 5 star reviews thinking that Unilocalers are all foodies. No disrespect to the Unilocalers, but do you like a lot of salt too? Give this place five stars if you like a lot of salt. Salt on your calamari. Salt on your steak. Salt on your fish. Salt on your shrimp. Salt in your sauces. What is it about this place that caters to the people who tend to over salt their food. Now, I am not talking about those who give an occasional shake of salt. I am talking about the person who shakes the salt shaker and continues to salt while having a conversation never looking back at the shaker until the conversations over type of salt shaker. YUCH! C’mon people, let the flavor of the meat or seafood stand on its own. Only use salt to enhance the flavor, not overwhelm it! We ordered the calamari for an appetizer. Fresh, moist and tender and crispy. Except for the salt it would have been great. Also ordered the rib-eye steak and shrimp. Also, over salted. Sirloin and mahi mahi with lobster topping. Firstly, what lobster where? Wife could not detect any lobster in the overly salty topping. Sirloin steak was tender and juicy but damn that extra salt is a palette killer. When the bill came, it was higher than the Sagat rated sushi restaurant we’d eaten at the previous night at the Ritz Carton property a few miles down the road. Holy cow jack my wallet and run with it Mr. Outback. Staff is friendly though host mangled my simple one syllable name. Glen, Greg, Geoff, Gray? NO! None of those! Please don’t throw another shrimp on the barbie for me Outback and definitely not a steak. I guess I am just spoiled by the finer restaurants and thought that searching out a moderately priced meal with Unilocalers giving 5 stars would be like finding the pearl in an oyster. Fooled me.

Remember the Outback in Kahana Gateway? This is their new locale. ATMOSPHERE: Newer restaurant in the Lahaina Gateway strip mall on the second level. Great sunset views from the bar side and mountain views from the outdoor lanai. FOOD: Caesar salad — Very good. Seared ahi — Awesome. The orange dipping sauce that comes with it is super delish. Great to dip the calamari & fries in too! Bloomin’ onion — Great app to share. Dipping sauce is too tangy for me — prefer ranch. Kookaburra wings — Awesome tasting wings, full of flavor. Crispy calamari — Batter tastes great, light & crispy. Tender calamari. Outback special & grilled shrimp on the barbie — Great taste but the shrimps were so tiny. Toowoomba pasta — Good but not great. Sauce flavor sorta bland. I don’t see this dish on the menu anymore. Not sure if the No Rules Parmesan Pasta took its place? Alice springs chicken quesadilla — Very good. Mushrooms are a nice touch. NY steak — I normally don’t order steaks when eating out because I make a pretty tasty home made version. But their steaks have great flavor and cooked perfect to order. BEVERAGE: Shock Top Belgian White — I love this beer. Citrus-y flavor. Comes with an orange wedge. SERVICE: Fast & friendly. Betsy took care of us in the bar area and she was awesome! TIP: Awesome happy hour from 2p-7p daily. Popular apps are priced super low. How does $ 4.50 for a bloomin’ onion, $ 5 for Kookaburra wings, cheese fries and calamari, and $ 1 off draft beers sound? Awesome!

New location… Same ass-kickingly good sirloin… No presumption. If I could cook a sirloin the way Outback has cooked my sirloin, I’d never go out. Holy smokes. I don’t get all the flak-filled reviews, as I’ve never had a bad meal in the four or five times I’ve been to Outback. Bloomin’ Onion: If you don’t like this, you don’t have a soul. Caesar salad: Yeah, I know… But honestly, one of the tastiest and most enjoyably simple Caesar salads I’ve had. Baked Potato: This thing was on steroids. And not the shriveled nuts kind… The holy crap, check out that giant hunk of savoriness. Sirloin: Simple. Salt n Pepper. Seared to light crisp on the ouside. Finished in the oven until perfectly pinkish-red in the center. Tender… and tasted so flavorful that, yes, I busted a gut nut. Shrimp: Seasoned and grilled. Again, simple… No frills. Fresh, tasty, and paired perfect with the sirloin. I’m SUCH a ridiculous fan of Outback, now. So much, in fact, that I completely disregarded the waiter dropping off the check before any of our plates were even cleared. A food coma ensued. A choice place for a reasonably priced steak, some tasty bar treats, and a seriously strong vodka gimlet. :)
