Not really sure why this place got so many great reviews. We were passing through, staying in Las Cruces for the night, and chose this place due to the great reviews and promising menu. I got the scallops and shrimp entrée, which was honestly not good. The shrimp were grilled with no spices at all, the sauce was very bland, the couscous that came with it was literally completely plain except for the blanched flavorless almonds and cranberries mixed in. The other person I was with got the swordfish special which was marginally better than my dish. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant.

We came in as a largish party on business trip. The food was excellent, and the restaurant had wonderful ambiance. The liquid nitrogen ice cream and alligator bites were the definite highlight. Our server was very attentive without being smothering, and our orders came quickly and accurately.

Dessert, science experiment, delicious, unique! Definitely made me think I was on vacation. I did not dine in for a full dinner, I was in need of coffee and yes a little dessert. I was intrigued by the bacon wrapped dates, hatch pecan encrusted chile rellenos and the sliders. Their happy hour menu was vast and drinks are WINE reds my faves and variety of beer selections. I’m going back to do more«errands in old mesilla» I will definitely stop by at Savoy. I highly recommend. The staff was knowledgeable with pairing and the most delicious coffee I have tasted aside from my husbands! ;)

First, the food is wonderful, Second, the service is impeccable. And, third, the décor is beautiful. In relation to big city restaurants offering this quality, the prices are downright reasonable. They range from $ 12 to $ 32 per entrée, and each is served WITH sides. The wine list is modest, but well chosen. Even better, the servers know it. The hatch chiles appetizer, tortilla soup, as well as both entrees we ate were each well executed and presented. Also, while we didn’t choose it this trip — don’t overlook the burger & fries which looked delicious as they were delivered to another table.

Horrible. The restaurant smelled of dead rat. Prices are outrageous and no food. Waiter Steven extremely rude.

This is a fabulous upscale restaurant in Mesilla. The food is great and the staff is amazing. The table side ice cream for desert is an amazing experience. The restaurant décor is very nice and tastefully done. If you are looking to take your partner on a date I highly recommend this restaurant!

Came here for a group dinner. Excellent customer service & atmosphere. We shared the alligator bite, tiger prawn, and egg roll appetizers. I had the filet mignon medium rare — delicious. Friends enjoyed the short ribs and cooking their filets on the hot rock(awesome sight!). They were out of liquid nitrogen ice cream, but we tried the 3 other desserts and each were amazing! Definitely recommend :-)

Ugh. Why do we have to live so far from Savory de Mesilla? I’d probably be eating here every week if we lived in Mesilla. It’s good, it’s really good. And it’s trendy! On the higher end when it comes to price, but well worth the price. Ahh, Savory de Mesilla. SdM didn’t really jump out at us when we were on Avenida de Mesilla, so keep an eye out for a sign that’s about four feet tall by the sidewalk. But I promise you SdM is nice. There’s outdoor seating and it looked like every table actual had it’s own tabletop fire-pit. Nice. And the wall of memorabilia was really cool. The chef/owner of SdM knows a lot of well-known chefs and also is a pretty big deal, himself. We came in when there were two large parties and other smaller tables, but service was impeccable. Our waiter was very nice. He gave a few quick recommendations and a small history on the restaurant. We were never left to fend for ourselves(even when everyone working was preoccupied with a table, someone came over and told us they’d be with us very shortly… it’s nice when people let you know that they see you and won’t let you stand around, hungry all day). Started with the Alligator. So delicious! I didn’t find it spicy at all, but it was still delicious(like I said) and the batter was perfect. The last time I had alligator was when I was three(ish) and all I remember is my sister shouting, «It tastes like chicken!» It does not taste like chicken and it definitely doesn’t have the texture of chicken, but it is a bit of a muted flavor like chicken. Great place to try something new. I had the Fish and Chips with the house salad. The house salad was good and had the most interesting plating I’ve ever seen. They took a tall bowl and filled(what I normally would think is) the bottom with the vinaigrette. The chips are what you’d expect. The fish was a small tempura with multiple pieces, but in a tempura batter. Really good and a cool fusion I hadn’t seen before. My fiancé got the«Hot Rock Steak». My favorite dish of the night and just so intriguing once you read the description. You grill your own steak on a really hot rock! The rock can get cold so I recommend cooking all four pieces of the steak at the same time(if I had to guess the pieces are around 6 – 8 oz. total), but if it does get cold they will heat it up for you again or bring you another. The marinade on the steak was just O-M-G! It had a little bit of an Asian inspiration and that really came through with the side of rice topped with sesame seeds, sweet cucumbers, and mixed veggies that may or may not have been marinated in some sort of sesame seed oil mixture. The steak was amazing and an impressive meal! I really love SdM and I know I’ll be back time and time again. Get the kids a babysitter, put on your Sunday’s best, and get over to Mesilla for an amazing dinner at SdM!

I wish I could give 3.5 stars to this place. I liked it but I didn’t like it. I think 3 stars is a fair rating for this place. So we were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary in Las Cruces. We wanted to leave have a nice little road trip and nice dinner at the same time so las cruces was a perfect spot. We spent like 3 hours on Unilocal to discuss where to go and decided on this one as they had good reviews on Unilocal and we found out the head chef was a Japanese guy. When we got there at 7:30pm on Saturday, I almost thought they were closed already. For some reasons, the entire street was super dark including the building of this restaurant itself. Luckily it was open but there were 2 other couples and one family in this small place. Kinda slow on a Saturday night… We then realized that the restaurant was super SUPER quiet. Like it was uncomfortably quiet. The entire time I was there, I felt like I was eating in a library. For the food, I think it’s just decent. Kinda too expensive for the quality in my opinion. Or maybe I just set my expectations too high as they had many many pictures of the Chef with famous iron chefs on their wall. We ordered –caprese –alligator bites –salmon and tiger with crushed pecan –chicken sandwich for my husband –crème brûlée –frozen chocolate cheesecake Alligator bites was pretty good. It was my first time trying it but I loved it. My husband was disgusted at first but I think he liked it too after I made him try a few. That’s why I tell him not to be so picky. :) My salmon was… Ehh okay. I didn’t like it so much. I liked the concept though. Like they use wild caught salmon and serve it with quinoa and couscous so you know it’s super healthy and nutritious. Just the taste wasn’t my type. The lemon cream had too much flavor of lemon and couscous and quinoa had no taste… The crème brûlée was good though. I liked how they presented it. My husband was having a hard time eating his too frozen cake… Lol I might give it another try though. I see some good looking pictures of their breakfast. It might be a breakfast/brunch kinda place. I will update my review after trying it again.

Since my favorite never-fail restaurant, Paisano Café, is closed Tues. evenings, we decided to take my cousins from ABQ to Savoy for dinner last night. It was our first time at Savoy, and we decided to give it a try despite some misgivings expressed by a couple of our LC friends. It didn’t go well. Maybe it was the main chef’s night off. Maybe the trained staff all quit en masse last week. Whatever the case may be, it started off badly when our earnest but unprofessional young waiter was asked about the house wine. It went something like this«Uh, its red, and uh, its kinda fruity, and uh, I’ll go check.» When he returned, he just shrugged and said he didn’t really know but it was some kind of… «Blend?» my cousin offered. «Yeah, yeah, somethin’ like that» was the reply. When I ordered coffee before the meal in lieu of alcohol, the waiter feigned shock and asked(loudly) «Coffee? You really want coffee? Really?» Our group ordered the chicken pear salad, grilled chicken Mesilla penne pasta, and the Baja-style fish tacos. It’s disappointing to report that all of them were utterly unremarkable. The pasta was cooked well but the chicken was dry and chopped into tiny pieces. The fish was bland and the rest of the filling looked and tasted like bagged chopped salad pieces slathered with watered-down house vinaigrette. The portions were overly modest, and that’s fine if the food is exceptional. It simply was not. The waiter interrupted us unnecessarily throughout the meal, and was trying, bless his heart, to be witty but apparently didn’t seem to pick up on my annoyed sigh and glare that begged him to leave us alone for more than 5 minutes. We passed on the gimmicky liquid nitrogen ice cream(ho hum) and I left feeling that it was the worst $ 114 I’ve ever spent.

This was a great fine dining surprise in Las Cruces. Dinner was great but dessert was definitely the highlight. We had the alligator bites for an app and the breading was good. I had the lamb and my husband had steak and they were both perfectly cooked. We both had the same sides which were good but not great. They brought us crème brûlée as a special anniversary dessert but we couldn’t pass up the ice cream. It is a real treat, made at table side and tastes amazing.

As a foodie, I read countless reviews before deciding to take my mom here for her special b-day dinner. What a disappointment. I think we were in and out in under an hour. Her meat was overcooked… my salmon was dry and my salad over dressed… not at all what I had expected after reading 5-star reviews. It was incredibly overpriced for the quality of food we received(over $ 100 for 2-people including 1-bottle of wine). One of the servers had a wicked cold and was hacking up a storm and had a snotty nose. the man at the table next to us must have had a cold and blew his nose incessantly(which I know the server/manager couldn’t help) which made it even more difficult to eat the food set before us. We took dessert to go(had enough of the nose blowing) and it was lackluster and mushy. Sorry… but I wouldn’t eat here again. I realize that many others have given this restaurant 5-star reviews… but I can’t even begin to think of the meals we received as anything more than 2-stars at best.

WOW!!! A restaurant of this caliber in NM!!! Great food, good service, very well décor’d in a Japanese like them that is clean and open. Chef Tatsu is famous and its on display w/all his accolades and famous Chef’s whom have visited this location and or he’s competed against etc. Food wise, great food, we went for brunch but saw others having lunch and all looked delicious. They start you w/this cinnamon toast like stick w/a dressed up like butter, delicious. I had chicken fried steak w/eggs and potatoes, freaking awesome. Wife had eggs benedict w/potatoes and she said the eggs were well poached, which local places around here just can’t seem to get right. For«desert» we had the custard french toast, holy toledo, it was so damn good, it is desert, it’s alot for just 1 person to eat by themselves. Price wise not expensive at all, $ 39 total that included coffee, ice tea and a mimosa. We’ll def be going back for dinner. If you know where the Harley dealership is in Las Cruses is 1mi south.

I don’t usually write reviews, but was too impressed not to leave one after such a great dining experience! Kim C. — Spokane, Washington

Driving from Silver City, NM to El Paso, TX, I decided I needed a break from driving and thought Las Cruces would be a good place to stop. After perusing Unilocal,I found that Savoy de Mesilla was nearby. I wasn’t quite sure if they were open — Unilocal said no, their website said yes. I took a chance and was pleased to find that they are now open 11am-9pm on Fridays. Their website and front door states that their happy hour is M-F 4−6pm, however, I was slightly disappointed that my server didn’t mention their happy hour until after I finished eating. I arrived around 4:30 — plenty of time to take advantage of happy hour. But no matter, because an entrée had caught my eye and I wouldn’t have had room for anything else anyway. The server brought out some sourdough bread and raisin bread with green chile butter on the side — so good! I ordered the salmon garlic naan, which came with a soup, salad, cole slaw, or fries. I highly recommend the corn chowder; it was delicious. Every bite was full of corn, just like I like it. I had asked if the soup had meat, and it was awesome that the server made sure to check for me. It has chicken broth, FYI for you vegetarians out there. My total came out to $ 12($ 12.95 with tax), which is a great deal for all that good food!

This is a great restaurant and offers some innovative entrees that are not run-of-the-mill. That might be somewhat standard for a large city but it’s quite rare in Las Cruces. There’s no specific theme to the options, they take ideas from all over while also including local/regional flavors such as Hatch chiles. I ordered the Goji Sea Scallops and Shrimp. The scallops could have used a more aggressive sear in order to have a nicer crust and more flavor but otherwise they were well cooked(no small feat). The goji berry sauce was subtle and well balance — nice work. And the cranberry almond quinoa couscous was a great base — tasty!
