First time I ate at the restaurant I ordered the Tan Tan Ramen. Supposed to be spicy. The soup had no flavor, a little watery tasting. The noodles were ok.

Ramen was kinda salty and the curry didn’t taste right but the shrimp fried rice was good.

The katsu comes with curry, rice and miso soup. The chicken is alright i wish theres more flavor to it. I had better curries than the one they offered. The fried rice kim chee is good lots of different spices and appetizing flavor. II would come here again to get ramen but not frequently. Overall, its a decent japanese restaurant.

I ordered take out miso ramen yesterday for dinner. The broth lacked flavor and was too salty. The noodles were mushy. The toppings that generally come with ramen were lacking in quality. It was about $ 10/bowl. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Wanting to try local food where locals hang out at, we drove around the island and discovered this ramen noodle place on Unilocal.«Hot and new» it says. We pulled into this local shopping mall and found this little store located at the food court opened by a Chinese family. What is interesting about their menu is that it includes some Chinese, Korean as well as Japanese food(Kim Chi, random noodles and cold tofu). This is exactly why I love Hawaii. We ordered the house ramen noodle that includes 2 dumplings, seaweed, and many other ingredients(I’ve lost track). The broth was just ok… Dun Dun ramen noodle has decent amount of hot spices in it. Their Kim Chi tastes different than the one back home but it was still decent. I do love their cold noodle appetizer it was absolutely delicious. If you are shopping in the area, I think this place is worth a try. The total price for 2 random noodle bowls, 2 small appetizers and 2 soda total to approx $ 35. For the price that we pay, I think the food was ok. I’ll come back again to try something else. No fault to the store, there were a lot of flies circling around us at the food court while we eat. That was annoying.

aloha ramen is one of the new restaurants in the kukui grove shopping center food court. they offer a variety of ramen and udon with different broths. they also have curries on the menu, which are very rich and creamy. i like that it’s easy to order and take out to the food court to eat. or, you can take it to go. it’s great that they package the noodles and soups separately so that the noodles don’t absorb all of the soup. they have some yummy condiments you can ad to your soup as well. definitely try the fried garlic, you won’t be disappointed!

I’m picky when it comes to ramen, probably because I’ve eaten the real thing in Japan many many times. When I saw tonkotsu ramen on this menu I was excited, only to be disappointed. There was nothing tonkotsu about it except the color. There was no fat, no porky flavor, no sticky feeing on your lips like a good tonkotsu. It’s honestly like they dissolved some flavor packets in water. The ramen was almost room temperature when it was served, and the pork was slightly dry. Overall I’m disappointed. At least it came out in a timely manner.

I’m a fussy and annoyingly picky eater when it comes to ramen(saimin) as my family some decades ago ran a ramen shop in a small sugarcane plantation town. Our noodles were so good that the recipe was used for years at a well known local saimin stand until recently. I had the Tonkotsu Ramen that was just under $ 10. Preparation was prompt and it came garnished with slices of char siu and fishcake, slivers of prepared bamboo shoots, nori, and chopped green onions. The broth looked good but lacked that rich creaminess that is present in a great tonkotsu broth. The noodles I’m guessing is a Sun Noodle product that lacked that springiness and chew when prepared correctly. I wonder aloud if what I ate was from a Sun Noodle Fresh Ramen Kit available in different flavors(including Tonkotsu). Seating is available in the adjacent courtyard area that is surrounded by other eateries. Aloha Ramen appears to be ran by emigrant Chinese.

Mmmm, this place is delicious. We stumbled upon the grand opening on our way to the airport, and I’m so glad we did. Normally I would dock a point for the wait, but since it was their first day open, I’m not, because there were tons of people there. Excellent ramen. Some of the best I have had! I am pescatarian and ordered the tofu ramen. The girl taking my order informed me that there is usally pork in it, and that if i didn’t want that they could take it out, so that was very kind of them. I would highly recommend, just make sure you have at least 30 minutes to order, wait, and eat.

Even if they just opened at kukui grove, the food was great, price was right, and it was very filling. UT hit that curry spot for me.
