Great new local spot, drinks are fantastic and food is super impressive. Nice to have something like this in the north country. Big fan of the maple manhattan and the beer list is always strong. One of the more generous crab cakes we’ve had and the kale salad is a great start. Can’t go wrong with the perfectly cooked steak or the cavatelli. Desserts are problematic in that you will want them all. Perfect spot after a hike.

First time here since the new owners. Food tasted great but small portions for the money. 3 adults and 3 teenagers, bill came to 185 before tip. Order extra appetizers to leave satisfied. Cocktails were reasonably priced. Our waitress was new bit was very friendly and doors a good job.

Truly impressive experience. Especially considering what this place was just a couple years ago. The new ownership and fresh approach to food is a home run. Nice atmosphere that wasn’t too pretentious or neglected. Every bite of food we had was obviously cooked with pride, passion, and respect. If you are looking for a different approach to classic ingredients, this is the place to check out. On top of the food being exceptional, the service and creative cocktails were up to the foods standards as well. Making for a very well rounded dining experience. You will not be disappointed!

Wonderful meal and outstanding service! We were visiting from out of town and will absolutely be back next time we are in the area. Everything was delicious– the kale salad and cauliflower appetizer were amazing, and we loved the olive oil cake for dessert. We brought our toddler with us and Debora, Corey and the entire staff were great with her and made us feel very welcome! We highly recommend visiting the Beal House!

Wonderful meal in a beautiful historic setting. New chef and owners have brought superb dining to this lovely home. From the kale salad starter to the pot pie and gnocchi with sides of perfectly crisp brussel sprouts and out of this world mac n’ cheese and a hot-fudge brownie in perfect portion Staub-ware, this was a meal that pleased with every bite. Don’t miss and return often.

Exceptional service. Amazing drinks and mouthwatering food. Pretzel brioche bites and crème bruele were to die for. Be sure to take the little chocolate treat at the end…

The food was AMAZING and the new owners are really friendly. I had the beat salad and turkey pie while my hubby had the chicken and we shared the warm cookies and milk for dessert. Everything was delicious. We’ll definitely be going back whenever we are in the Littleton area.

My family and I visited the Beal House on their opening night with new ownership, a new chef and new staff. The food absolutely delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. We had the mussels to start, the flavor was perfect, I didn’t want to share! For dinner I had shells with shrimp and tomatoes which was excellent. The wine list is great too. We will definitely be coming back. I highly recommend them.

i love this place. i will visit each and every time we are in Littleton. the service and food was GREAT! excellent wine selection too — very cozy & homey. i will say, i don’t think they suffer fools — which may account for some of the less than stellar reviews? Only makes me love them more!

We stayed here for a night during fall colors season 2015. The rooms are very nicely appointed and the hostess Chris was very polite. Google maps location is a little off. This place is very convenient to drive to Kancamagus highway for leaf peeping.

My wife and have a vacation home in the North Country so we’re always looking for a good restaurant. We had dinner at the Beale House for our anniversary this past July. The food was first-rate and we had an excellent waitress. We couldn’t wait to bring our friends! Unfortunately, our return trip was a complete disaster! The food was again outstanding but the service was horrendous! It wasn’t just us that had a bad experience, the couple at the table next to us had to wait over 30 minutes just to get their check. I don’t know whether they’re just understaffed or the staff is poorly trained in customer-service. I was hoping to find another restaurant in the area but I guess we’ll have to stick with Tim-Bir Alley.

I was treated very disrespectfully by a woman on the phone. I called to see if they had any reservations available for the evening and was told yes. I called back 90 seconds later and was told they were full for the night. She was very rude about and then hung up on me. Won’t be going here next time.

I have not stayed at the inn, but frequently visit for a bite or cocktail at their cozy copper topped bar. Its especially endearing in the winter. The owner, Bill makes a great cosmo and always has a friendly«hello» and interesting story or two. If you get a chance to try the Irish Nachos, thin sliced potatoes with a bit of gorgonzola and cheddar — do it. They are delicious, very flavorful and you’ll leave wanting more. It’s true that as owner/operators they may not always be right at the door to greet you, but overall this place has a unique charm and the staff is very amicable.

We have been going to the Beal House for years, and have always been impressed by their creative specials. Last night may have been my last visit. To begin with the, the prices seemed to have increased, and the portion sizes seemed considerable smaller, for example we only got two small crab cakes, instead of the three larger ones that we used to get. The crab cakes themselves were less crabby and more hush puppyish too. We ordered a bowl of soup, and if it was 6 ounces, I would be surprised, and it was not good tasting. I have no problem paying for good food, but last night’s meal was mediocre at best. Seems like they have a new chef, I hope they get it together soon because Littleton needs place with consistently good food and service.

We stumbled upon this place while staying in Bretton Woods for the weekend and having a lack of places nearby to eat. It was a little confusing upon entering the restaurant as to where we should go(there isn’t a host stand or much of an entry way), but we were promptly greeted by both the manager(?) and a server. We did have to wait a few minutes for a table as they were busy and needed to take a moment to set the table, but they explained everything involving the wait. We were sat in the lower room, near the wood stove(!!!) and just happened to be the only people in that room. The white Christmas lights were still up and gave a really nice comfy vibe to an already cute, cozy little place. The music playing consisted of Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, etc… it was fantastic. Our server(who I’m guessing is one of the proprietors of the Inn) was a VERY friendly, sweet older woman who was just the right amount of chatty. She gave a great description of the nightly specials and explained that the chef prepared everything from scratch daily. The menu is fairly small, but it covers the major bases(steak, chicken, pasta, fish, soup, salad, apps) and the wine list had a pretty good selection. I ordered the stuffed mushrooms — 2 large portobella caps with house made maple-sausage stuffing, cheddar and breadcrumbs. They were delicious! The seasonings in the stuffing and the fresh peppers and onions gave it a really nice flavor. My boyfriend has the soup du jour — corn chowder. This was not an ordinary corn chowder… it was loaded with mirepoix and potatoes, more like a stew than a chowder as it was a lot of the good-bits and less of the«broth.» He LOVED it. He’s still talking about it 4 days later. For dinner, I had the stuffed haddock with rice pilaf and broccoli. The broccoli was perfectly steamed — bright green with a little crunch left. The rice was fluffy, tender, well-seasoned. The haddock was not served drowned in butter in a casserole, but wrapped around the stuffing with fresh lemons and a light butter over the top. It was so yummy. The boyfriend had the special half-duck roasted with a cranberry-orange glaze. It was not greasy at all, very tender and juicy and cooked perfectly. All the dishes were served with an edible orchid garnish(beautiful and tasty), a slice of kiwi, and a smile. The bread that we got to start was also wonderful — hot rolls with the right crunch on the outside and softness inside. Our server wasn’t the fastest, but she was so friendly and she kept our waters filled(which is a task — we drink a lot of water) constantly and was prompt about dropping the check. Now, I work upscale dining and have for years. We are both picky about food, and I’m a stickler for service. As I said, she wasn’t the fastest, but we were on vacation and in no rush. Like I also said, she was SO nice and friendly that it trumped the 2 minutes it took to come greet us. I’m sure because it was holiday weekend, they were busy. The upper dining room was full and it didn’t seem like they have support staff to bus tables. I felt right at home in this place and the chef was so happy to hear how much we loved our food. We also didn’t have to ask for anything(silverware, more water) because she immediately brought whatever was needed without our prompting. I love when servers notice those things. We will go back if we’re ever in Littleton again. We had apps, entrees, and wine and spent $ 81… not too shabby if you consider the freshness, the perfect preparation, the little touches with the garnishes, and the cozy, intimate atmosphere. I just wish we’d had room for dessert!

This is a review of the restaurant only as we did not stay at the Beal House. We arrived for an early dinner and although the restaurant was open, there was not one single soul in the place. We stood around for a few minutes, perplexed and then walked into the hotel area of the building and pressed a buzzer for service. One of the innkeepers arrived and escorted us into the dining room. Despite this initial hiccup getting attention of the restaurant staff, the rest of the night we received superb care and we had the entire restaurant to ourself, which was really lovely. We received fresh rolls that were warm, crisp on the outsite and soft and buttery on the inside, served with creamy local butter. We each started with house salads that were excellent. The Beal House Inn makes their own salad dressing; the hubby got their chipolte ranch which he liked and I got the shallot viniagrette which I absolutely loved. For our entrees, the hubby got one of the fish specials on the menu that night. He raved about his meal, saying it was one of the food highlights of our trip. I ordered the eggplant parmesean, which was breaded but not deep fried, served in a pool of savory marinara sauce with linguine. Yum. We decided to skip dessert so I can’t comment on that. Overall, we were extremely pleased with the service and food we received. Next time we’re back in the area, we will definitely make a return visit to the Beal House Inn for dinner.

IIf I could give this place six, seven, or nineteen stars, I would. I’d never expected to end up in Littleton, NH, but as luck would have it, I did. And I could not be more delighted to have had the good fortune to spend three nights at The Beal House. Where do I begin? For starters, the proprietors and staff are absolutely amazing. Everyone was — to use a word I don’t often use — delightful. Thoroughly delightful… delightful, delightful, delightful. It felt like we were staying in a family friend’s beautiful home, and we were treated like family friends in turn. I’ve never felt so comfortable on a vacation. We found ourselves cleaning up the street outside, and trying to help out as much as we could, because we just loved the place so much. The current owners/proprietors clearly love the property too, and their love shows so well in every detail. Our room was indescribably comfortable(missing that fantastically relaxing bed right now); the restaurant was absolutely unreal(shout-out to the wonderful Christine for her aptitude in creating a St. Germain cocktail for me, accompanied by great conversation and local newspapers and magazines, and her subsequent perfect service the following night at dinner — stellar wine recommendation, girl! Absolutely perfect with the dinner!). In short, I love this place. I miss it terribly, and have not stopped talking about it since I got back to Houston. To be honest, I’m a little pleased that our reservation at the Thayers Inn fell through, because if it hadn’t, we might not have had the opportunity to stay at this thoroughly remarkable place. I’ve traveled to many places, in this country and overseas, but this was the most beautiful, comfortable, and perfect stay I’ve ever had the good fortune to experience anywhere. I miss you, Beal House. And I hope to rush back soon to try that Lobster Mac & Cheese, and sleep in one of your cozy, pristine beds again. Thank you for a very beautiful vacation. –Amanda P. S. The restaurant is always available even if you’re not staying there! Open to the public! Great live music on Saturday nights…

Fantastic Transformation! What a wonderful surprise to learn that the Beal House Inn was under new ownership, better yet, that the menu has been completely revamped and re-priced to better reflect the area. The previous incarnation was nice but VERY expensice and not often living up to the price point. The new Beal House has a diverse locally inspired and sourced menu at some of the most reasonable prices north of Concord. Traditional American fare mixed with well trained culinary techniques in the kitchen result in a diverse range of north country comfort food. I wanted to order multiple things on the menu and had a hard time choosing, which is a very good sign of things to come. We enjoyed classically executed Escargot with a hint of Pernod, the snails were tender, juicy and not a hint of chewiness. I could have eaten another two or three orders of these, and at only $ 9, I will next time! Crab cakes were the only weakness, they had too much Panko mixed in so the texture was more like seafood stuffing, but the accompanying Old Bay Aioli almost made up for it. Served on baby spinach, this could be fantastic if they change the crab to panko ratio! Beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly, as was a «caveman» cut of Prime Rib, both were fork tender and served with caramelized root veggies and garnished with a cut out Maple leaf of beet and carrot. For the very very hungry, they offer a «lion’ cut of prime rib that would feed 2 hungry skiers with leftovers for sure. Meat-a-pal-oza! Dessert was also a winner, simple and elegant, puff pastry with divinely light limoncello filling, copious raspberry coulis and fresh whipped cream, Ill upload a photo ! Best of all, the new owner offers a «Beal Deal» special that is a screaming bargain. You get 2 entrees AND a bottle of wine for $ 40 if you order between 4 – 6, every day! Cant wait to go back and try the Lobster mac and cheese during a snow storm They also have 7 rooms for full and tired diners who don’t feel like driving home

Quaint and lovely old Inn located in Littleton NH. Our server was very friendly. The menu is a nice selection of foods. Ranging from chicken to steak to lobster. Parking is difficult although maybe there is more parking that I did not see since it was a rainy night. I will update this section when I go back. Service was slow This was just our server. She was busy leaning and doing other chores that we waited a long time to order our food it took her so long to get back to us when it was time for desert that we did not bother The other server on the other hand was very efficient and took fantastic care of his clients. They have a special that is 2 dinners and a bottle of wine for $ 40.00. The items that you can choose from are marked on the menu. It was a good selection. This special is from 4 to 6 pm you may want to make a reservation as they fill up fast We had Lobster an decided to upgrade to the lazy man Lobster. The Lobster was cooked to perfection. It was a good size portion I would guess between 1 ¼ to 1 ½ lb solid meat. We did not see a wine we wanted from the list but they gave us a choice of either another beverage, salad or desert. My friend chose the salad which was a rather large salad. It was one of the best salads I have seen served. Try thief home made dressing. I opted for the desert which we took with us. I had the Turtle cheesecake. It was not too sweet. A nice size portion and worth going back for more. Even though our service was slow I highly recommend going here. The food is well worth the price. They offer items from $ 11.95 to $ 30.00 The owner was quite charming and you can tell that he cares about his clients. The guests that stayed at the Beal House Inn were very happy with their accommodations. We will be back Food. 5 star Service. 3 star. See notes above Atmosphere. 5 stars.

I should have left when we got a «We’re a little short staffed» warning as we were seated. The same person who seated us was acting as the only waiter for lunch and although he only had four tables(of two people each) going, he struggled to keep up. The five dollar pita chips and hummus appetizer consisted of six pita chips and a cup of hummus. After the chips were gone we were left with about ¾ a cup of hummus. Apparently pita chips are worth more than gold in Littleton, NH. We waited close to an hour for our meal. My burger had no cheese despite my choice of cheddar when asked. Luckly for me, my wife bit into her burger first(which was also missing the cheese). I’m pretty sure we asked for medium well and well done, not RAW. Both burgers were literally raw in the middle. After I complained, people at another table complained of the same thing, raw burger! To make matters worse, when we decided to call it quits on this place, they had the nerve to charge us for the chicken fingers my son had and the pita chips. They should have aplogized and made the few things that DID come out right, on the house. As terrible as our experience was, I am inclined to give them the benefit of doubt in that we may have just caught them on their worst day ever. The menu looked good and the place was clean, charming etc. The fact that our waiter/receptionist was struggling so badly made me suspect he was also doing all the cooking since he kept disappearing into the kitchen for long periods of time. He probably should have cut his losses and closed for the day instead of trying to make it work himself and infurating people in the process
