I don’t know why this place doesn’t have more love! I have come here several times and never had a bad experience. The staff have always been attentive and friendly — maybe it’s because I tend to go at times when it’s not busy(around 12am). I’m giving it 4 stars because yes it’s a bit pricey. However the Banana cream pie was totally worth it as it was best pie I have had in LA!

Great banana pie, and the chicken pesto pasta was better than expected, good food and great service. it was plenty of parking. I will come back to try the other pies

I’ve been coming here for a long time for foodie dates with my friends. It’s a fantastic place for both veggie and meat lovers. Their milkshakes are amaaaaazing! Especially the brownie milkshake with actual bits of brownie that are too big to suck through the straw but perfect to spoon out and have great foodie sensations. My last add in is their homemade pies! The banana cream one on a base of caramel with chocolate sauce drizzled all over is to die for! It’s absolutely devouring worthy. The staff is great and friendly. Never fails to disappoint.

Hey, it’s that place you always see in movies, so that’s kinda neat. Food is one step above most diners, I got the steak and eggs which was pretty good. The fruit cup actually tasted like fresh fruit and the service wasn’t bad. They have tons of vegan and other frou-frou options if you’re into that, but they also have normal diner stuff as well.

Not sure what is up with the low rating?! I love this place a lot. Very comfy and pretty solid diner food. People watching is fantastic! My neighborhood haunt.

Great local spot, I go here for breakfast lots of options. Could share a plate. Been here for the pie a couple times it’s great. Dinner once a little pricey. Would diffidently recommend going here for coffee and pie.

Came in for a late lunch and was quickly offered beverage service. Staff were friendly, smiled and were prompt. Restaurant has been remodeled yet tried to keep a sense of the laid back diner atmosphere with plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. Ordered the kale salad with«bacon» style tempeh and was pleasantly surprised. The lemon vinagrette complemented the dish… and the tempeh was delicious with no traces of bitterness. Have been here plenty of times over the years and find it to be a go-to for a quick bite when in the neighborhood.

Worst mac and cheese I’ve ever had. Wayyy too salty, funky taste, and the cheese was BITTER. What the what?! Couldn’t drink enough water to wash it down. Oh, and no one refilled our waters. On the plus side, they have this one awesome sci-fi spaceman vs. giant ant painting in the corner. That kept me from puking on my cheesy mac. Which again, worst of my life.

Had breakfast here today for the first time — everything was excellent! Service, food, décor, parking, food, cleanliness, food, etc! We went around 9:30 am and today is a Monday, so were easily able to park in the back lot off of Park Ave, and get a great table near the window. We had two servers taking care of our table and both were great: attentive, prompt, friendly. We ordered the hangover scramble, the chicken pesto sandwich and the California eggs benedict. All of the food was fresh, portions were huge, and everything looked and tasted great. I had the benedict and the eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise was lemony and a little zingy, the muffin was toasted well, and all the veggies were fresh. It really was one of the most delicious benny’s I’ve ever had! You have a choice of potato too and I chose tator tots, which were perfect to soak up the excess yolk and sauce. For the three of us the bill was $ 62 with tax and tip — we all drank hot tea as our beverage, plus the entrees but no extras. For the area, quality and experience I thought this was a great value. Would definitely recommend, and would go back again!

Walked in with two friends, saw there was a nice window booth in the corner. The waiter tried to dissuade us from sitting in it. I thought perhaps it was reserved, but it wasn’t; he just didn’t want three middle-aged women taking the best booth. I asked to sit there, and reluctantly he complied. We talked and ate our unremarkable breakfast food for forty minutes, and then we got kicked out. A second waiter actually told us that we had to move to a table outside if we wanted to continue our conversation. This restaurant is in my new neighborhood, and I would have become a regular. Now I will go out of my way to avoid it. The Brite Spot has gone over to the Dark Side.

There’s something about Brite Spot that made me want to like it immediately upon entering… quite possibly it was the retro feel of the décor, or how sitting at the diner just behind the pie case made me feel a bit as though I had wandered into an episode of Twin Peaks(and yes, the coffee was«Damn fine»). My girlfriend and I decided to split the Southern Decadence, having been recommended it by a handsome gay couple sitting next to us, who let us know that they frequent Brite Spot for that plate alone. In addition to this we ordered a side of brussels sprouts and avocado, two spots of green to go with a plate that was loaded with biscuits, gravy, fried chicken, bacon, cheddar and topped with a sunny side up egg. We both agreed that the chicken was overcooked and ultimately lacking, but the bacon was very good and the gravy and biscuits were heavenly, so all in all it was a good plate of food. The sides definitely stuffed us – those brussels sprouts were amazing though, I would definitely get them again. Service was a bit on the slower side, but kind, and definitely not of the hovering variety. They had a lot of tasty looking options on the menu so I’d like to come here again.

Kitschy and old, trendy and hip – all of these describe Brite Spot, a diner off of Sunset Blvd in Echo Park. I came for brunch on a recent weekend morning, and the place was busy! Luckily, I was able to snag a window booth. There’s also a large patio with plenty of seating. Service was a touch slow, but the vegetarian chili omelette was decent and a large portion, and that’s all I really expect from a diner. No liquor license unfortunately, so you’ll have to get your mimosas elsewhere.

Very Tasty! I was more than hesitant to check this place out simply based on the Unilocal reviews. As I trust my my fellow Unilocalers! We try to be as honest as possible(well at least I do) he he. Back to the lecture at hand… this place is not bad. I had the house made vegan burger(I added American cheese) because I am not über Vegan…(yet) lol. my veggie patty that was not really formed into a patty more like vegan mush on bread with lettuce, tomato and a vegetable spread of sorts was actually very good. It was warm flavorful and I would probably eat it again. Along with my veggie burger I had the sweet potato fries and a side house salad with house made salad dressing. All was much to my liking. This place is known for their pies, my friend wanted me to taste their pie which is how I ended up here. I am funny about pies as you know from my review of the pie hole. The pies are house made and they looked very appealing. I’m a simple lady so I went with the apple. This was the biggest slice of pie I have ever had in my life. The crust was flaky, the apples were stacked high. The service was great. My waitress was kind, helpful and cool. It was a nice day in Cali the weather was perfect and they have the perfect outdoor space to eat. My experience was good. I’ll be back. Check it out if you can. I know the reviews are scary. But take a chance and let me know how you like it!

Second time I have received food poisoning from here after eating the pesto chicken pasta . Calling the health department because someone doesn’t know how to prepare food

The Brite Spot has some awesome burger and French fries. Only issue is the lighting is a little too dark for me cause I like well lit burger spots. Again food was awesome just the lighting might just come eat during lunch instead of dinner lol. The Gf loved her burger and said we will come back soon for breakfast.

You might enjoy it if you’re new to L.A. and are overwhelmed by the cool location this restaurant is in(like the three new-to-la hipsters I overheard outside talking about how they’ve been going to all the«landmark» L.A. locations since moving here from the midwest a few months ago). I gave them 2 stars because of the staff, that’s pretty much it. I went with a party of 8 and we all got different things from the menu. Everyone said their food was«ok, not great». That’s it, I’m staying away from restaurants in newly-gentrified(or «up and coming» if you prefer) neighborhoods. The bus bench across the street had an ad from a local real estate company that reads«How would selling your property be good for you?» I can only imagine that the old cooks that made this restaurant good decades ago have moved away from the neighborhood because they can no longer afford it(typical).

My husband and I go to Brite Spot a lot and have never been disappointed. We’ve tried numerous items on the menu and everything is always fresh and yummy! I usually have the lamb burger & have them swap out the blue cheese for cheddar and it’s incredible! My step-daughter loves the lemon pancakes & has them every time we go for breakfast. My husband is a body builder and appreciates their ability to adapt the menu to accommodate his clean eating. He loves their Protein Scramble for breakfast — it’s an egg white omelet with lots of veggies. They have delicious pies, cookies, and other desserts! We’ve met the general manager, Mindy, and she’s really friendly! The staff is always attentive, friendly and patient with all our meal adaptations. We highly recommend trying out the Brite Spot and enjoying a great meal :-)

Really cool diner with a nice outdoor seating area for a random weekday breakfast kind of day. The wooden outdoor bench looks really nice but is not comfortable at all lol. There is plenty of shade outdoors and you get a nice breeze. I had the NOLA Omelette with the tater tots. The tater tots were amazing and the omelette was really good. It has a fancy name but it’s pretty much egg with a hot dog weenie. Lol. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it but it’s what I ate growing up. A little bit pricy but the atmosphere made it worth it IMO. Will definitely return to try the chilaquiles. They had a wide variety of choices so it motivates you to return.

An old Echo Park haunt. I had not been back in ages, simply as a protest for the accommodation to hipsters. The menu has changed drastically. This place used to be quite the small little Americana diner. Now, you have breakfast burritos in salsa verde and chilaquiles mashed up with waffles and Vegan faire. Just like the hipsters, they don’t have an identity. Breakfast with no drinks was around $ 24 and left me wanting in the flavor department. I think I will still to my usual… Happy Tom’s, where the flavor profile is a lot better and cheaper.

I used to HATE this place. It was TERRRIBLE. And most people agreed based on the lukewarm reviews here. But I read an article a few months back about how they revamped the kitchen and I’m glad they did! Benedict Classic(13.95) — pretty basic and standard. $ 2 more than it should be. The eggs should have been more runny. Southern Decadence(13.95) — this plate was heaven. The menu described it as Chicken Fried Chicken. The gravy was lovely and the biscuit was yummy. Still too pricey, but I enjoyed it. Onion Omelet(12.50) — If you love caramelized onions, this is your dish. Perfectly sweet and tasty! My boyfriend exclaimed with excitement with his first bite. The real star of the show was the side of fresh fruit. The variety made it feel like we were being served a garden of treats. Blueberries, oranges, blackberries, raspberries, cantaloupes, pineapples, strawberries It was a refreshing change from the usual abomination of a breakfast side fruits composed of just melons.
