awful DONOTGOHERE! I ordered the beef samosas they were the worst I ever had. And I love samosas. I also tried the Chicken dumplings later in the night I vomited. My friend ate the white chicken it was raw. I’m warning you do not eat here!

I’ve eaten sushi at the 3 other sushi places on the Ave and last night I ordered 3 specialty rolls from Haiku. By far the best sushi in this town. I got the geisha, the passion and the black Forrest. It was beyond delicious. Sweet lord. I will be coming back for pick-up at least once a week.

A solid Japanese joint on the always bustling Mamaroneck Avenue. Nice, clean interior with efficient servers and a very nice menu. Plenty of lunch specials from which to choose and the pricing in general is fair. On this occasion I had a couple of handmade rolls plus the seaweed salad and hot & sour soup. All were on point and satisfying. There is meter parking on the street but it can be a little challenging during prime lunch hours. Small price to pay and to be expected pretty much all up and down the avenue so it’s not like avoiding Haiku and dining elsewhere nearby is going to be a better option.

Slightly below average sushi with slightly above average décor and service. I was with my kids in Harbor Island Park when we found ourselves needing some dinner. A quick glance my phone showed that Mamaroneck Ave had a number of reasonable choices and we landed at Haiku. On the positive side, the non-fish-centric rolls were pretty good. In particular, the dinosaur roll in the form of a Stegosaurus was visually impressive and quite tasty. The other crab, eel, and spicy tuna rolls all equally good. On the other hand, the yellowtail roll was just OK and the nigiri a step below that. Oddly/interestingly enough, since this is an ‘Asian’ restaurant you can get your sushi platter with hot and sour soup instead of miso. And the hot and sour was actually quite good — if a little weird with the sushi. The service was good and the décor was nice. It was a very welcoming, relaxing, and hospitable environment in which to enjoy dinner. I just wish the fish was better.

Here for lunch and have to say service was very poor. After being seated outside waited 10 minutes to even get a menu which waitress said she would bring. Went inside and explained I was on lunch and in a hurry. Placed order and then 20 minutes later still no appetizer. Sought out waitress who said oh I did not think you ordered it. she then came out again more time went by and asked me again what I had ordered! With no chance to go anywhere else waited for subpar sushi lunch. Needless to say will not be returning

This place was awesome. I had always heard of this place, and since I had seen some of the employees at my job, i decided to stop in. Right when I walked in, the hostess recognized me which was nice! On a saturday afternoo the place was busy but not too busy. I don’t know what our waitresses name was, yet she was very nice and attentive. There was always a waiter or waitress around to help if you needed them. I had the sesame chicken lunch box. This came with your choice of soup and salad. Rice, a spring roll, and 6 pieces of a california roll. It was very delicious and filling! I will absolutely be back.

Since we haven’t found any good Chinese takeout in the area, this is where we come when we are in the mood for Asian. We’ve been to the locations in White Plains, Bronxville, and Eastchester before, but this was the first time in Mamaroneck. The restaurant was pretty empty when we came, but it was a Monday night, so that’s probably why. I ordered steamed chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce on the side. My husband got the crispy Szechuan chicken, which is shredded into skinny pieces then fried in a batter and topped with the sauce. We split the veg fried rice. For dessert we has the fried ice cream. I would venture to say this was some of the the best fried ice cream I’ve had. It is dipped in tempura and fried to perfection, and almost tastes like ice cream wrapped in funnel cake. Overall the meal was solid. I do think they give larger portions at the other locations, but other than that the food is pretty much the same.

Both my friend and I got stomachaches from here and there were flies around the place the entire time we were eating.

I used to rave about this place but now in the wake of more sushi restaurants in the same 3 block area I will go elsewhere. First problems began to arise when on the first occasion(I went 3 times in one month to make sure my bad experience wasn’t a fluke apparently it is now the norm) I went in with a friend and they seated us quickly enough yet we spent 10 minutes without menus or water. Through out the meal our water was not refilled, they brought the soup and salad course at the same time and then when our sushi was ready decided to shove that too on to the already small table. Second time I ordered out to see if I could actually get my food in a reasonable time. Wait was 30 min for a sushi lunch, fine I can deal with that. Picked up my food and the people were so pleasant and cheerful when I came in! Joyfully took my food home and sat down to eat it. Wonton soup had a lovely wonton plump of dough, I think I detected a tiny sliver of meat. Also note that they have a meat dumpling while the White Plains Haiku has a shrimp. My big problem was with the sushi, I am paying for sushi so I expect sushi. I got a salmon roll and received FATTY salmon along with the salmon roll not even being filled. Yet my spicy salmon roll was sure packed mostly of filler. Third time was not the charm. Once again ordered out, had 2 plain fish rolls and 1 spicy roll. Spicy roll just tasted like mayo, could barely even taste fish or spice just mayo. Once again both fish rolls were not filled. Basically I won’t eat here if they can’t care to fill my rolls with actual fish. Attached are pictures of fatty salmon and under-filled rolls.

We just had a great meal and bottle of crispy Pinot Grigio. Crystal dumplings, spicy tuna tartare pancake and delicious Lomein. The waitress was absolutely adorable. Nice night to sit out on Mamaroneck Ave. !

I ordered from the menu on line which was nothing like the actual menu which resulted in my entire order being wrong– not to mention way more expensive than what was represented on line. Shame on you!!! Been here a hundred times. Will now look for a new place

I’ve been to the Haiku in White Plains and in Eastchester/Scarsdale and they have always been amazing. Never questioned the quality of the fish/food there. But after going to Haiku in Mamaroneck tonight, I won’t ever be returning to this location. The fish was just gross. Got the geisha roll, and the avocado was brown and mushy. The fish was weird. Wasn’t the best quality. Also ordered the yellowtail jalapeño roll and the fish to jalapeño ratio was horrible. Chunks of very oily fish, no jalapeño — just sloppy. Rolls were loose. Just a disaster. Presentation wouldn’t have been so much of an issue if the quality of the food had been much better. I really needed to get a sushi fix, and I made a bad choice in picking them. Won’t be returning. Proceed with caution.

Poor service from waiter — seems as if he was in a rush to get out of there. This was our first time trying the place and will never go back. No refills either offered as my glass remained empty. Food was OK.

This location is average size compared to the one in Bronxville, NY. The Haiku is White Plains has a full bar which is why it is always so busy, plus it is huge. Avocado rolls are an absolute must every time I dine in at Haiku. The only complaint i have is for the upcharge when you order brown rice on the roll in substitution of white. It’s silly!

Service was friendly and accommodating. Food can only me described as ‘meh’. Carrot-ginger salad dressing has been a vague concept ever since Benihana popularized it decades ago. But this one was the culinary version of what the universe will be when entropy kills us all through boredom. We didn’t bother ordering Japanese, as the proprietors are Chinese. I ordered Malaysian red curry which was ‘meh’ There aren’t many vegetarian options on the menu, but they happily accommodated wife’s request for mixed vegetables sautéed with brown sauce. It, too, was ‘meh’ The white rice was ‘meh’. Brown rice was ‘meh’. Things couldn’t get more emphatically ‘meh’. Do yourself a favor, and go down the street for Indian or across the street for pizza.

Great atmosphere. For a surprise, try the passion roll, where freshly sliced salmon sashimi pieces form a heart around each roll. So pretty n yummy! Great sushi quality n excellent service. Can’t go wrong with either green tea or red bean mochi ice cream for dessert! Great to go during the summer, since they have outside sitting.

Best lunch deal. Most of the Japanese food on the menu is great. Hot tea is wonderful. We go for lunch because the food is good, the staff is very friendly and they are kid friendly. We are regulars now
