Minutes from the beach, good food, friendly service and possibly the best Mac and Cheese I have ever tasted!

This was my 2nd visit to Rock’N Fish and both times, my experience was excellent from service to foods. The quality and presentation of their meals is spot on. On my 1st visit I had a fish entrée and with two tasty sides that was superb but due to low battery levels I didn’t take photos. On my 2nd visit, with a charged iPhone I took a pic of my lunch. I opted for their Coconut Crusted Mahi Sliders. I wasn’t sure if this would be a snack or my meal. The bartender gave me a ½ a loaf of sourdough bread with butter to snack on before my sliders came out. My only«dig» was I really love soup with a good bread and they no longer serve crab or lobster bisque or tomato soups. The soups available didn’t agree with me so, «no soup for me!» My sliders came out and I have got to state, they were heavenly! WOW! I was floored. They were fresh, from the meat to the bread, and the sauce had a rich flavor with some heat. Between the bread, sliders, and a few cold ones, I was done. As always, service was outstanding. Their bartenders are true bartenders here, quick, on the spot, and anticipate your needs. I highly recommend you stop by and order a few items!

Mmmmmm! My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner and it was sooooooooooo delicious. We arrived maybe ten minutes early for our reservation and were seated right away upstairs. Which is btw super dark, bring a flashlight, lol. That’s also why I have no pictures, bc I have shame and didn’t wanna use flash to take a picture of the food. We ordered the crabcakes and spicy mac n cheese for appetizer and your meal comes with sourdough bread. EVERYTHING was bomb. The crabcakes didn’t have too much ‘other’ fillers and you could actually taste the crab, plus whatever spicy sauce it came with was amazeballs. The spicy mac n cheese wasn’t spicy(to me), but there is a little kick to it. I LOVE sourdough bread, so that’s a win. I think I finished half the loaf we were given before the food came. Our server was super sweet. It’s amazing how they get around in such a cramped space. I got the cioppino and my boyfriend got the surf and turf. Boyfriend was happy with his food. The cioppino was SOGOOD. I’ve had some that are too watery and the consistency is just too thin for my taste. This was actually thicker and didn’t taste overly tomato-y. It comes with a good amount of scallops and clams, wasn’t just all fish and shrimp. It came with amazingly yummy cheesy garlic bread, I was seriously stuffed. They have Sculpin which is always a win in my book. And the boyfriend had a definite win bringing me here for my birthday. It was pricey, but you get what you pay for. Parking is a struggle as usual, but this place is a must.

My boyfriend and I stopped by Rock N Fish on Memorial Day Weekend. We spent the majority of the day in Hermosa Beach but it was really crowded so we drove about 5 mins and came to Manhattan Beach. The waitress was super sweet and provided great service. The bread was nice and hot when it was served. We ordered the BBQ shrimp which was noted as «sweet and spicy» on the menu but was really just spicy. I would have appreciated a bit of a warning because we didn’t anticipate how spicy it was going to be. The food was great, just very hot. Thank goodness the waitress kept our water glasses full. I also ordered a mojito which I sent back because it tasted like flat Sprite — which is why they get a 4 stars, but overall the food was delicious.

Rock’N Fish is fck’n good — ridiculously so: And this location, a wave’s length from the Manhattan Beach Pier does not disappoint. Friends introduced me, years ago, to this menu-solid, more than a fish shack — but a purveyor of the crispest, most colorful vegetables, sumptuous seafood, rich ribs, and sapid specialities. There is nothing but love, of their food here. The Management of Chris and Jason — are genuinely interested in every diner’s food experience — their assurance is in the quality of food items purveyed. Their pleasantness, extends to servers who know the menu, who are aware of allergens, and who are accommodating — is applaudable. Eddie and Dennis are stand outs, as is anyone who greets you — or pours you a drink — or removes a plate. Kindness and gratitude are served here. The Oak Grilled artichoke, from Castroville, California is the very best — not oily, or doused in garlic-butter greasy. The crispy calamari is some of the best I’ve tasted, as it’s a favorite selection — tender, and flavorsome: All the appetizers are delicately prepared and delicious, the taste is in the teriyaki beef tenderloin skewers, coconut prawns, and crab cakes. A cherry salad — has heightened my gastronomical debauchery — their daily special, married my desired delicacies of Utah sweet cherries, California sun-dried pistachios, Parma Prosciutto, Ricotta Insalada, and Arugula — to a house-made balsamic vinaigrette. It was the best tasting, best looking«greens». The Fish(Cod) & Chips, are the best swimming around, plentiful on the plate, and a dinner to delight the palate: Not heavy or dry. Perfected. Rock’N Fish has perfected the art of dining — the lay of the land and it sits pretty close to the sea. Both worthy to protect.

Great location near the pier, great selection of seafood dishes, but much too casual a place for the prices. Arriving at 7 pm on a Saturday, we waited about 35 min for a a table without a reservation. You could make a reservation with opentable but they must fill up quickly because they were booked up when I tried to make a reservation at around 3 pm. Parking is street parking. There’s a lot of metered spaces around the area but there’s so many cars and it’s only one lane each way, so finding a spot is a little bit of a hassle. The ambience of the restaurant is pretty causal, which doesn’t really match the high prices and swankiness of the menu. Most of the dinner selections are about $ 27 – 29. So the food… Crab cakes: very good as an appetizer. Includes two large cakes. The spicy mayo paired perfectly with the richness of the crab cake. Salmon dish: we switched out one of the side dishes and got the shoestring fries instead, which turned out to be way too over salted. Salmon was great. Green beans were cooked perfectly. Shrimp linguini pasta: perfect! No complaints. Macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi: the fish was cooked perfectly. It needed just a little bit of salt. The pineapple sauce it came with was just meh. Nothing interesting and didn’t really eat it with my fish. It just seemed like a kitschy thing like pairing something tropical with another thing that’s tropical. I switched out the rice for the Brussel sprouts which were too vinegary. They were paired with red grapes which did not make much sense to me from a flavor pairing standpoint. Wine selection: tried the French rose and the Italian piano Grigio. Both were very crips and light. Perfect for someone who doesn’t drink much or doesn’t want to get too much of a buzz. Kona pie: very yummy and indulgent!

I have nothing bad to say about this place except for the fact that it’s a bit pricy. My girl friend and I went in on a busy Friday night and were surprised with how quickly everything came. The bartender was super nice and the atmosphere was perfect. We ordered the Oak artichoke while we waited for our take-out salads and it was unreal… It tasted like someone just cooked it perfectly over a campfire haha. We took home shrimp Louie salads which were pretty good, but not $ 18 good. But it’s cool. I’d definitely go back for wine and appetizers! To top it off the sunset was incredible. Manhattan beach is kinda pretty sometimes:))

I had such an amazing experience here last time. So I came again after my brothers proposal and wow were we impressed. The staff here is unbelievable. Honestly other restaurants need to take some service lessons from these guys! Trisha and Nick were just so great! They brought is a bottle of champagne when they found out my brother and his fiancé had just gotten engaged. Honestly this place is amazing. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is amazing and the service is unlike any other place I have been. Thank you Rock and Fish!!! Keep it up! Great place! Great food and even Better service!!!

Rock N Fish is ok. I didn’t leave her raving about it. Here’s a few reasons why: — Food is a bit pricey for the portion — Service is really slow — Menu is a bit short — Food quality is eh The sourdough bread was memorable, but I think I’d head somewhere else if I was back in the area.

Great ambiance and a gargantuan menu meets some of the most obscene plate costs in the South Bay. Chances are you happened upon a Rock’N Fish at some point over the last decade in a beach city near you and the fact is little has changed. It is still a mash up of Hard Rock Café and King’s Fish House, it is still located steps to the ocean and the service does whatever it can to make sure you enjoy yourself. The only thing that I don’t recall are the staggering plate costs. Fish Tacos? $ 16.95. Shrimp and Avocado Louie? $ 18.95. Teriyaki Beef Skewers? $ 19.95. Are you not outraged? Okay — check this out — Oak Grilled Artichoke… $ 14.95. Fifteen dollars for an Artichoke that had it’s top cut off and then was thrown face down a grill. Grab your ankles! I was with friends who just wanted to sample something while downing an ice cold beer so we went with the Calamari(14.95) and 4 Ballast Point Sculpin IPA’s. The Calamari came within 10 minuted piping hot and flanked by cocktail & tartar sauces. The breading was a bit thick for my liking but it did pair quite well with the IPA. The portions were adequate and the squid was plenty fresh, so no arguments in those regards. Then the bill came. $ 60.00 after tip… That sure was a pricey 20 minutes.

Amazing food. Great view. Tasty cocktails. Get their crab cakes or prawns to start — you will not be disappointed, unless you hate seafood. If you do not care for seafood they have plenty of options to choose from. It is clear you are paying for quality food and service and less for the location as many beach front locations do. Ask to sit on patio terrace area.

My favorite thing about Rock’N Fish was the delicious aroma as I walked in. I haven’t smelled freshly cooked seafood like that in a while! Instantly, I was hungry! We sat at the bar while we waited for a table. I ordered a margarita, which honestly looked better than it tasted. It wasn’t bad, just ok. Once we were at the table — which didn’t take very long at all — friends and I shared the calamari and the poke. Both were delicious! Would definitely order them again next time. Their freshly made bread was also perfect! Our server was genuinely friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I want to go back and have some more of those appetizers, as well as try other dishes!

I love trying new foods but sometimes I just want my staples and I want them to taste GOOD. Rock’N Fish rocks the classics. The Crab Cakes are just perfect — the sweet crab comes right through the breading. They look small, but they’re surprisingly filling with fries and a side of spinach. The Surf’N Turf is solid, a dense sirloin and juicy Maine lobster tail side by side. The sides of Grilled Asparagus and the Creamed Corn are pretty good too. The Sticky Toffee Pudding. Wow, the sticky toffee pudding! Sweet as sugar and lighter than air. You pay a Manhattan Beach premium at Rock’N Fish, so it’s not the most affordable seafood option, but the seaside prices are in no way unreasonable. Bank account aside, there’s no harm in treating yourself once in a while.

AMBIENCE I’m really liking the outdoor covered patio seating area. It makes you feel lime you’re outside but without the hassle of rain, wind, or even extreme cold(they have patio heaters). I was in the mood for an seafood but I didn’t have much of an appetite so their Poke appetizer seemed like a good choice. FOOD Poke appetizer’s fish was fresh. The seasoning was light but sufficient. It was served in a bowl nestled in a larger bowl filled with ice. It doesn’t come with rice so you have to order that on the side. Perfectly cooked jasmine rice sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds is what arrived. PRICE Pretty pricey. After tax and tip, my appetizer and rice came up almost to almost $ 20. WEATHER Can’t beat he beautiful SoCal beach side weather though.

Let’s start out u come here for the view of the ocean. And I have to say the food was amazing. Everything my table ordered tastes awesome we really enjoyed it. Parking all meters no valet. Well at least during lunch hour. I ordered crab cakes not the appetizer but the mean version it came w ur choice of 2 options and it cost around $ 26 – 28. Which might be a bit too much if u see the size of the actual meal. But since it was awesome I won’t complain. Now let’s talk about the service! Which is the reason I have this place a 4 star and not 5! It kind of sucked.

Great food and customer service. Price was definitely with the quality of food. If you want a chill and cozy lunch place I’d recommend this place! Ordered oysters and calamari for appetizers and fish tacos and fish and chips. I would though stay away from There specialty margarita a bit too sweet and syrupy for me. Overall great experience!

I started with the chef’s special cauliflower purée which was creamy deliciousness! I ordered the macadamia nut crusted mahi with jasmine rice and asparagus for dinner and it was AMAZING! Great experience! I will definitely be back!

I had ordered a steak medium rare and when I recieved the meal it did not meet my expectations. Before I could tell our waitress she had already seen on my face expression that it did not meet what I thought a medium rare steak should look like. She quickly took my meal and had it cooked the way I had persumed it would be. They were very very nice about it and did their best to make me happy. GREATSERVICE!

Smaller place than I anticipated. Food was about what I thought it would be. Burger — overcooked, kind of dry meat. if this was a juicy patty all of the sudden this becomes a formidable burger. the spicy aioli that came with it was a surprise hit for the burger and the fries. fries — brought out by mistake. very skinny. too skinny. spicy mac — subtly spicy but a little one note. Pretty standard seafood place that you’d normally find right near the beach.

Pricy and packed but ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS!!! Had a double date here and 3 out of 4 of us ordered the jambalaya based on our server’s recommendation. It was divine. Warm, rich, extremely flavorful and worth every penny. I had it with pasta and my husband had it with rice — both were fantastic. Our 4th person had the surf & turf and ate every bite so perhaps I’ll try that next year, though that jambalaya is calling me back! Other info: –None of the signature drinks appealed to me so I just ordered a lemon drop and it was spot on. –The complimentary sourdough bread is yummy and filling so try not to each too much before your entrée arrives. –The crème brûlée was much too thick and heavyhanded on the egg. It should be a light texture that smoothly melts in your mouth. Had to dock one star for that. –Metered parking or you can use the paid lot nearby. –Just a few steps from the beach so it’s the perfect spot to eat before taking some time to enjoy the view. 4⁄100 — 2016 Unilocal 100 Challenge

My friend and I stayed in Manhattan Beach for two nights, then headed out to Vegas for our vacation earlier this month. We visited the downtown area to check out the Pier, the beach, and grab brunch before heading to Vegas. Seeing it was Sunday morning, a lot of the breakfast places were pretty crowded so we passed this place and saw their«Sunday Brunch» sign and it drew us right in… plus, being on vacation, breakfast goes well with a bloody mary or mimosa! Late morning/early afternoon this place wasn’t crowded at all. I believe the bartender waited on us. My friend ordered the bloody mary, I had a mimosa. She is allergic to shellfish and noticed a shrimp was an addition to the bloody mary… she took it out and put it to the side. I don’t think she got a reaction to it, but it’s probably best to note that for the bloody mary drinkers with a shellfish allergy… or eliminate it all together. She thought the drink was a bit too spicy too. As for me, my mimosa was fine. Breakfast was great though, I had scrambled eggs with bacon and avocado with a side of fruit and toast. It was the perfect meal before spending the next 5-ish hours in the car. The service was great too. I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re vising the downtown Manhattan Beach area!

Nice place, great ambiance, a little loud but it was rush hour during dinner! Huge portions so hold back on eating that bread they give you in the beginning! Spinach Artichoke Dip– Yummy! Better than most! No chicken broth added so 110% suitable for moi! Comes with light tortilla chips and a few veggies. Two Lobster Tails– Super Yummy! Steamed to perfection, tender and soft without being overly chewy, the number 1 sign a chef knows how to handle a pair of tails. ;) Comes w/lemon & warm butter. Brussels Sprouts– EXCELLENT choice for garlic lovers. Overly garlicky for my taste. I’ll pass next time. Spicy Mac & Cheese– AMAZING! Order this ORDIE!!! Mwhaha! No, seriously, it’s that good! Karen our waitress was an absolute delight! Super sweet and down to earth! Plus she was helpful with the menu. I love that! I will most DEFINITELY be coming here again. I’d love to explore other options on the menu, but I know myself and most likely I’ll keep ordering the Lobster Tails. Nom Nom Nom!

Rock’N Fish is a surf and turf joint located in Manhattan Beach, one block away from the Manhattan Beach pier. The front space of the restaurant is an indoor patio(I know sounds oxymoronic but the ceiling is retractable). The interior has a main dining area with the bar and a mezzanine level with a bird’s eye view of the main dining area. The place(patio, main dining, and mezzanine) was packed to the gills. Even though it felt like sardines in a can, the crowdedness helped warm me up from the unseasonably cold and windy weather outside. For the main course, I ordered potato crusted halibut with pumpkin seed sauce with crispy spaetzle and cup of clam chowder to substitute for the braised red cabbage from the weekly specials menu. My friend, Arjay, ordered the oak grilled shrimp and garlic brochettes with shoestring fries and oak grilled vegetables. Really enjoyed it! Overall, the ambiance of the joint was lively and the food service was expeditious. Furthermore, I did enjoy the lava cake that I chose for my dessert. Will definitely be back again!
