What a fun place! The food was good. The Drag Bingo was crazy fun. The drinks were creative. I can’t wait to go back!

I feel badly writing this review as I’m not chomping at the bit to let the cat out of the bag. But, that’s not the point of Unilocal. The point is to connect people with awesome local businesses and you’ll probably want to be connected to the Tiki Bar. I’ve been sitting on this review for a while. When I first came here, there was only one review and the original owner/runner was large and in charge. Fast forward many months and she’s long gone, there are more reviews and the day-today of the bar has switched over a couple of times. Fortunately, I have been patronizing the bar throughout it all. As with anything, some things have changed over time but the overall feel of the bar remains the same. I’m a fan and I think you will be as well. First of all, yes: you have to walk through Cheeseburger Baby to get to the bar. Trust me. It exists. Just walk in and keep on walking until you get to the courtyard. No one’s going to stop you or say anything. Once you get there, you walk into a piece of Key West in South Beach. Admittedly, it’s a bit less Key West-y than it used to be with Stacy at the helm, but it’s a welcome change from the usual Washington Ave/South Beach trappings. Rather than head here on a weekend night(which you can totally do), I suggest coming here on a Sunday afternoon and take in some day drinking. The beer list is admirable for the size and if you’re a cocktail fan, there are plenty of beer-centric mixed drinks to whet your whistle. In any event, there are plenty of drink specials(happy hour!!) to get you in a relaxed mood. If you get hungry, order off the CB menu but above all else while you’re here… relax. Watch a football game. Listen to some reggae. Sit and people(or, cloud) watch. Do what you like. The point here is not to be seen. The point is to chill out. If you’re not chilling out, you’re doing it wrong. Don’t come dressed to the nines. If you have to come with a crowd, be respectful and shut up. No one wants to hear your hootin’ and hollerin’(unless you’re here for drag queen bingo; if so, go nuts). You won’t feel like you’re in Miami and that’s the point. Keep it that way.

I was all excited by the reviews, the place is cool, outdoors, drinks are reasonable. Staff is very nice(although not very sober) and overwhelmed. They could use a second person to help out for sure. Now the main reason this is a 2 versus a 4 are the following issues: 1. They do not have a liquor license, which is a problem since tiki bars are supposed to have strong tropical drinks 2. They do not have beer on tap 3. They have a somewhat limited bottle selection for beer, but have many not on the list. Not sure I’d come back, but they do have 2 drinks for 1 from 5pm-8pm, which is a good deal at $ 5 – 6 beers thats $ 2.50−3 beers.

Amazing local spot for booze and fun. Happy Hour is great and so is the food. Yummy yummy to the tummy! Great place to just relax and unwind and have an awesome drink at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is fun and the staff is so professional and friendly. Vanessa is one of their new bartenders and she is amazing! Make sure to tip her and the staff well. They work hard and make your experience memorable to come back again and again!

I loved being taken to this place. Walking through the fast food counter up front to the back door feels like a locals only adventure, and the back is not on any strip or beach or even street so you get to forget about the muscle show parading past and just relax for a second and enjoy the weather. The service here was so friendly and laid back and cool. And the bacon cheese fries dipped in ranch dressing made this Poutine-loving Montrealer so happy. Drinks were super cheap when we were there — is it always happy hour on Miami Beach?

This is such a great little South Beach spot. It’s on a crowded thoroughfare, so walking into a not so crowded joint is great. It’s not the super trendy, meat market South Beach. You can walk in wearing jeans and a t-shirt or dressed to the nines and you won’t feel out of place. Happy Hour is 4 – 8 daily and every Saturday they have Drag Queen Bingo at 9:00pm for $ 1 a card. Inexpensive bar and a great way to start your Saturday night without killing your wallet. Staff is super friendly. The burgers are famous for being yummy, but I didn’t try one. Be forewarned, the Bar’s dependent on weather — if it’s raining, festivities are cancelled :( Tip well, the staff works hard!

I really, really like the ambiance of this bar. It’s so not South Beach, rather reminding me of a beachfront… well, a tiki bar. Which makes sense, I suppose, given the name. One thing I will mention is that there is no liquor served here. They make margaritas, mojitos, etc., with white wine instead of the normal tequila or rum. It’s not a huge deal, but I was surprised nonetheless and would have liked to know beforehand. There’s also a drag queen bingo at 9pm on Saturday, which I’m really looking forward to doing at some point in the future.

The most un-South Beach bar(which also happens to be my new favorite) is the least likely place you’d stumble upon. You see, there’s no sign outside pointing to its existence. And in its tiki speakeasy style, you’d never know it lives unless you randomly cross paths with Cheeseburger Baby and peer on past the bathrooms. Once you make it beyond the indoors, you’ll likely find Stacy London, bar owner and reality tv star(?) from South Beach Tow. She’ll hug you(maybe) when you walk in and then she’ll drop an extensive beer list into your palms(40+ beers) along with some burger and fry options from her pals at Cheeseburger Baby. So then you’re sitting there, and the immediate thought is, «we’re in Key West.» There’s reggae playing, tons of games on(Steeler fans have found a home), and an all-around chill vibe that’s otherwise incredibly hard to find in these fair parts. The entertainment is never-ending too. Drag queen bingo, free wifi and a printer/scanner for any of the work from home types, 2−4−1 happy hour a lot of the time, and chatty, friendly characters. Plus, they’re animal friendly as long as you have a super chill animal. Next time you find yourself shuffling along Washington, assuming it’s after 4pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, head into Cheeseburger Baby to access their outdoor oasis.

Nice little spot, you gotta walk through cheeseburger baby to get there. You can get food from cheeseburger baby at the bar… Now let’s be honest, what is better than a cold beer and a greasy cheeseburger with bacon? Well probably eating it in a nice little tiki bar in South Beach, so check it out. Their fishbowl special on Fridays is good if you are out to drink some beer.

This is one of my new favorite hang out spots, it is conveniently located behind Cheese burger baby, very casual vibe, awesome service and a great wine/sake and beer selection, flat screen tv’s, games, it is not pricey at all which makes it perfect to pre-game before you go out in South Beach!!. The famous«Fish Bowls» will have you feeling good in a heart beat! ohh and the Pineapple Mojito is veryyy tasty!
