I eat phở a lot and I’m pretty picky about my phở, I can honestly say this place is pretty decent. one of the only places I would get phở in milpitas.

Some of my friends decided to come here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We came here at around 11:45am for a somewhat early lunch/brunch. The restaurant itself is pretty small and there were only two other parties there. We were greeted and seated immediately. It was off to a great start. We ordered pretty quickly. I ended up ordering the #51 which is the grilled beef with egg roll on a «bed» of lettuce and rice vermicelli noodles. The dish was pretty standard and it’s only average. The portion was huge. The food was almost overfilling the bowl. As for the taste, the beef was a little weird in my opinion. It was wrapped with something inside. I am not too sure of what that is, but it has an odd texture to it. It was an interesting spin off to your ordinary grilled beef. The rest of the dish was pretty normal. I was kind of disappointed at the assorted veggies they usually include. There were no carrots, cucumbers or pickled daikons like other restaurants I’ve been to. But it was a minor thing. The service was good as well. There were only two staff working at the time and they were pretty attentive to us. Overall, this place was only average. I don’t think I will be coming back since I know of other places that are far better at around the same price(it was $ 8.50).

Bun rieu is soooooo delicious here. The only problem is they don’t give you a lot of the side greens… But the portion of the bun rieu and what’s in it makes up for everything! My dad never finishes his food anywhere he goes but slurped every single drop of soup in that bowl. So delicious! Banh khot is bite size here. That’s what I love! Its not as good as banh xeo ngon but still very tasty! They give you more in portion than just 7 pieces most places because it is bite size! Yummy ! Their price is extremely reasonable and I will be coming back for lunch from now on!

********************* 1166 ********************* Haha loving Wanugee review :-) I guess I missed him by a bit. The restaurant is clean, organized, service is efrficient and quick. Generous portion, but flavor is not all there. I tried Phở and Bun Bo Hue, both are mediocre, nothing special.

Following my obsession of wanting to try spring rolls, egg rolls, and banh xeo at virtually every Vietnamese location, I ventured to Phở Quynh based on promising pictures. It wasn’t so great. The banh xeo was soggy and you can count how many pieces of shrimp there were. It’s sad when you’re boyfriend asks you if you found any shrimp pieces and gives you the only one he found because he’s just that nice. The egg rolls are tiny and measly. $ 3 gives you 2 itty bitty pieces and no lettuce wrap. The chicken wings are even smaller. It’s like Wing Stop for infants who enjoy teething everything. It was so discouraging that these 6 bite sized bits were left unfinished. The spring rolls rice wraps were very thick and hard to chew through. It was annoying that half way through, they didn’t give us any plates so we had to ask for some. We were spilling our shared banh xeo everywhere and they didn’t think that maybe we needed something to keep our table from looking like a baby’s food tray.

A friend and I decided to try on a new Phở place today and chose Phở Quynh. It’s located near the Starbuck’s in the same plaza as King Wah and Shabu House. Our experience here was… anticlimactic. My favorite part was that they accept cards with a $ 10 minimum purchase. I got the hu tieu dac biet and my friend got the phở #5. The hu tieu came with a 3 pieces of BBQ pork(pink), 3 shrimps, 2 pieces of imitation crab and some fried onions on top. Overall, neither one of us seems ecstatic about our noodles but they tasted okay only. The location is small and the tables are laid out weird. The service was nice but they were kind of slow for a phở restaurant. Our waters were never refilled or anything at all. I’d probably only come back if I was in the area and didn’t have cash on me. Other than that, I most likely wouldn’t recommend Phở Quynh to others as there are many other places not too far away.

This is will probably be my most ironic review yet, This restaurant is probably the cleanest Vietnamese restaurant I have ever been too. The floors freshly mopped and everything was clean and no spots on the table or tableware. And for some reason I found that trait to be a bit negative, the place was not full of people, actually we were the only people in there. It was a Saturday and mid afternoon, so probably after a lunch rush and before a dinner crowd. This made me second guess if I chose a place that didn’t get enough business, that they had enough time to keep the place so immaculate. On to the food, we order the house special Phở and Rice Plate and Banh Xeo. I will not fault the food because it was actually pretty good, because it was fresh, clean and nicely cooked, nothing was burnt or undercooked. It was just too clean, the broth of the phở was not full body and it took them 15 minutes to bring the broth. Which might not sound like a long time, but most Phở places can whip that dish out in less than 5 minutes. That tells me either they were heating something up or it was a fresh batch they were finishing up. Both cases, not a good sign for me, I want my phở broth to be simmering the whole day and just condensing the flavors. It showed, the phở was okay but not great and complex in flavor. The rice place, was clean and simple and actually better than the phở. The Banh Xeo was not greasy and well made, just lacked in complexity. Most of my comments for any other restaurants would be great, fresh, clean and prepared to order. But for a Vietnamese place, a little grim, a little hustle and old school cooking is what I needed.

I got $ 46: vermicelli with lemongrass pork. The meat was really thin, a bit too salty, and lacked flavors besides being salty. The noodles were pretty good, but there were too little noodles in comparison to the meat and the vegetables. They also serve this dish with fish sauce I think, which you pour into the noodles. The portions were huge, and I paid $ 9 lunch. 3.5 stars for the food/dish I got. This place lacked service, and our food took quite a bit of time to come out. We came around 1:30 on a weekend, and there weren’t that many people in the restaurant. I don’t think our food should have taken that long(at least 15 – 20 mins), and they didn’t come by to serve us water or anything. -.5 star for the service.

The four stars are for the tasty bun bo hue and banh canh I tried here. There were generous amounts of meat included with each bowl not to mention broth was rich and delicious. I’ll definitely come back to try the other noodle soups they offer. If you’re looking for authentic and tasty Vietnamese noodle, you’re looking at the right place. Update: had the bun rieu today and was disappointed. Broth wasn’t as rich as the other dishes I’ve tried and had to add«mam tom». Interestingly, their toppings are different than the usual bun rieu I’ve tried. They included shrimp patty, pork patty, and meatballs in addition to the usual tofu and tomatoes. One thing was missing was the egg mix that usually floats atop this dish. I guess the meatballs were a substitute for it. Next time I’ll make sure to order something else.

I am losing track, but I think this is Phở Noodle Soup Restaurant review #117 for me. That is 117DIFFERENT Phở King restaurants for Phở. Doesn’t even count all the repeats. I have 61 check-ins at my local Phở place, making me the Phở King Duke in Unilocalanese. Which doesn’t count all the times the Phở King Phogot to check in. That is a lot of Phở King reviews Phở Sho! (Actually Phở isn’t pronounced Foh as in Foh Sho. More like Fa-Uh, like I Fa-uh King Phogot how many reviews I have written.) So I was Phở King around this hood, and stopped in to Phở Quynh and you and you. It is a clean and unassuming shop, located right next to the StarBux in this strip mall. They serve a little bit of everything, but most come for the Phở, or similar Viet Diner food. They do have those banana leaf wrapped rice grenades, I assume it is similar to Chinese Dung, the sticky rice, Lap Chong filled thing, but since I never had the Viet version, I am just guessing. I ordered my current standard, Phở Tai Gau. The broth was pretty clear and tasty, the Tai was typical, and the Gau was better than most. Condiments were fresh. I came in late August, and they seemed a little shorthanded. Seems very family run, perhaps with the 2 daughters running the front, older generation in the back. But the Ong Gia food runner was getting the orders confused, and difficulty keeping pace with the orders The girls told me they were shorthanded, I guess because some of the help went back to school? There are a lot of Phở King choices in this area, but this one was pretty decent if you live in this hood, or are staying at the Embassy Suites nearby and want Fa-uh King Phở within walking distance.

One of the big problems with phở in the Bay Area is that you often don’t get enough meat in the noodles bowls, regardless of whether you order a normal or large bowl. That wasn’t the case here. They were very generous with their portions of beef & meatballs my the noodle soup. Also, service was fast, and the overall taste was excellent.

After conducting some business at the nearby Starbucks, I saw these guys out of the corner of my eye and decided that I was hungry enough for lunch. I was also a bit light in the wallet and made sure to check with the clerk about whether they accepted credit cards. She said yes, so I sat down. I ordered the phở chin nam in a large bowl($ 7.95). It’s solid phở, although I’ve had better down in San Jose. Pretty clean broth that does benefit a little bit from a squeeze of lime juice. Good meat, easy to chew. Can’t complain about the standard noodles. Little bit modest allocation of Thai basil, but the bean sprouts and sliced peppers looked like they would’ve worked find if I was into those things. Noticed at the end that they say it’s a $ 10 minimum for credit card. I asked the clerk again and she said not to worry about it. I was really glad that she kept to her word, although my final post-tip met the minimum anyway. But if I were to return — and I probably wouldn’t only because San Jose is closer to me — I would probably just carry cash. Good neighborhood spot for phở, but just not a destination.

Came here on a dinner date with my husband and he was excited to try their banh khot which he loves! We drove to the plaza and look at the restaurant and it was dead. Hmm, should we still give it a try!!! Sure why not since we’re here! We both ordered a bowl of phở and a order of banh khot. I have to say I never waited more than 10 mins for a bowl of phở because they just have to add the ingredients in the bowl and pour the broth over. Well, it took about 15 mins for us to our bowl of phở and it puzzled me since there was only 3 other couple there that got their food already. The phở was same as other restaurants and nothing special. Banh knot came out 10 mins after our phở and it was so oily! I know its cooked in a lot of oil but there was oil on our serving plate that made me not want to try it! Overall: foods okay but the wait for food was not!

Overall: I really like the phở here, I think it’s a good price, and the workers here are really friendly. So when my friend and I came in, we brought food with us and I was worried we would seem rude, but the man that showed us to our table was super friendly. I ordered phở and my friend got nothing, but the man that brought us our food even OFFERED us a second bowl, which never happens for me. Anyway, the workers are really friendly. I got the #1 again, which I really like. It doesn’t taste like it’s filled with MSG and there really is a lot of meat, I love it! I always have a lot of meat left over when I’m done. This place is also pretty cute; the water comes in cute bottles, when they serve the food it looks nice, and the place is clean.

BBH was nice and spicy with generous amount of meat. BBQ pork with shrimp Vermicelli was tasty and had a good amount of meat as well. Service was fast and friendly. New restaurant so everything was clean as expected. Can’t wait to come back to try the bun rieu and bun knot.

We came here looking for a decent bowl of phở since Phở Kim Long had a line out the door. I was pleasantly surprised that this new phở restaurant was clean and offered decent phở. My boyfriend and I both ordered Phở Tai Nam Sach and it was pretty decent. It had the aroma of phở and the broth was pretty clear and healthy. Meat offerings were decent. Quality of meat is okay. Noodles were cooked on point but this restaurant doesn’t offer fresh phở noodles. We also ordered the Vietnamese Coffee and the Thai Tea. The Vietnamese Coffee was okay but wasn’t strong enough. Thai Tea was on the milkier side but was good. We came on their official grand opening day and so we received our drinks for free! They even offered a dragon dance show for entertainment. It was pretty fun to watch since I hadn’t seen one of those dragon dances since I was a kid. Overall, decent phở. Cash only.

I’ll go out on a limb and give them four stars, but it was my first time, and it was only their third day of being open. When we went in, it was only me – empty restaurant. The server, I’m assuming it was the owner’s daughter, was sitting down at one of the tables, chatting with some friends. She came over and gave me a menu and then went back to her table to continue chatting. She came back to take my order, turned in the order, and went back to the table to sit and chat. You get the picture. Not very professional. But the phở I ordered was pretty good, not the best I’ve had, but nothing to complain about. It’s right across the street from where we live so it’s nice to have it so close. I LOVE the plaza this place is located in. Starbucks, my favorite foot massage place(FOOTLAX), and King Wah Chinese food, which is starting to become one of our go-to Chinese places, pricey as it is. I plan to return to try other things on the menu, but for now let’s let the four stars stand.

Grand Opening! Definitely great and friendly service here! Clean establishment and I can’t complain about the food plus affordable prices! I was surprised to see that they also did their own pad thai for being a phở place. Will have to check that out next time =] Fyi it’s cash only, but no worries cuz there is an ATM next door! 5 Stars for service and luck =] I hope they do well!
