While we didn’t eat here and cannot speak for the food that everyone seems to love, we did get drinks here after dinner on a Friday and were treated very rudely by the bartender. He was not welcoming and did not seem to want us to be there. Gave us a very bad taste and we will not be going back.

Amazing food with great flavor and taste. Green tomatoes and then shrimp and grits cannot be beat.

Great atmosphere. Amazing staff and unbelievable steak. So tender you could cut it with a fork. You definitely must try the fried tomato stack. Well worth the money!

One of the best meals I have had the last few years in Mobile! The atmosphere for lunch is great. I had the Crab Benedict. The crab cake was very meaty & the shrimp sauce over it was very tasty. My friend had the pecan crusted chicken with butternut squash ravioli. The flavors in the sauce & ravioli were mind blowing! I would go back & order both. To top the meal off we ordered the banana pudding cake… OHMY! I have never had anything quite like it. So glad we went & can’t wait to go back & try more!

No joke, this was the best lunch I’ve had as long as I can remember. It was really fantastic. I had the pecan encrusted chicken with butternut squash ravioli. I highly recommend it. Our friends all got the burger, and those we fantastic. Some of the best burgers they’ve ever had with thick bacon and crunchy pickles. My husband had the shrimp and grits which he thought was good, not his favorite ever, but 3 out of 4 isn’t bad! I highly recommend it, it was one of my highlight meals of the trip!

Steak with the crust was delicious. Service was attentive. Desert was called peanut butter chocolate bread pudding. It was very disappointing. One frustrating note: they have wifi but not for guests. Suggestion: what about changing the wifi username so it’s not such an in your face nanny nanny boo boo deal?

Yum. We got right in on a Tuesday night. Ordered and shared the Brussel sprouts, the filet and grilled shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Great service too.

How can something like brussel sprouts be so amazing? I tried to semi-replicate at home, and while nowhere near as good certainly the best I ever made. Cannot wait to return to try their take on other items! Service was also very good and we went on a Saturday during Mardi Gras before parades!

Oh my. We ate here last week. The food was excellent and service was great. For appetizer we shared the roasted Brussels sprouts, a wedge salad, and the Bienville oysters. All were good, but the oysters were amazing. For mains I had the beef tournedos. Cooked perfectly medium rare. So good. My wife had the pecan crusted fish and it was excellent as well. Everyone at the table of five ate something different and all liked it. The lady who suggested the restaurant calls it her«go to» place for visitors. I can see why she does. I’m going back.

Yesterday’s pre-Valentine’s Day dinner was my second time here and both were excellent. You should seriously consider putting the Chef’s special(grouper topped with spinach, artichoke, and crab served over roasted red potatoes and a creamy sauce) on the normal menu because it was definitely one of the most amazing things I have ever tasted. We were a little disappointed that you could not omit the conecuh from the sauce accompanying the fried green tomatoes(the first time dining here we were able to order the sauce sans conecuh and it was better). Still a wonderful meal and can’t wait to come back!

A solid 100. The food is outstanding. I dine here every time I travel to Mobile for business trips, and it has yet to disappoint. Order the wedge salad and Dumbwaiter burger. I know, wedge salad. Has a wedge salad ever been appetizing, to die for? Yes! It is at the Dumbwaiter. This is the best place in Mobile!

We accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant on New Year’s Eve and it was amazing! The service was great and the food was outstanding. They accommodated us well considering we walked in 10 minutes before they shut down the kitchen.

The pickled shrimp are so very good and the presentation is alluring. Some of the menu is eclectic. This is are typical go-to before events at the Saenger. The service is 5 star in every way possible(they survived my Step-Mom with a smile). I don’t care for the environment/interior. It comes off as cold and the seats ae not very comfy(meaning I will dine and dash instead of spending more money and living in the experience). It IS still an experience and remains on my local yummy list.

Just had my birthday dinner here and I ordered the beef tornados after so many rave reviews. It came out lukewarm. I was very disappointed. The flavors in the dish just weren’t there! My fiancé and dad ordered the fish of the day… They said it was mediocre. My mom got chicken, she said it was good. My sister ordered the short ribs and hers was the best out of all of ours. This was my fourth time at Dumbwaiter. I think the best thing on the menu is the black eyed pea & ham soup. Order that and you’ll be safe. Disappointing visit. Definitely not worth $ 250+++

This property once housed Samurai Jack’s(sushi), and I really liked the way they had their dining area set up. Dumbwaiter gutted the place and did a complete remodel. The result is a trendy, open interior more like the restaurants you see in Atlanta or Nashville, which is a nice change from the 4 – 5 floor-plans you usually see in Mobile. Reservations are definitely recommended. We were seated at about 11:30, and every table was occupied by the time we left. Service was excellent. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable, and helpful with both menu items, and specials. Service was fast and attentive even when things were hopping. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the ingredients, and the skill of preparation. Portions were generous without being ridiculous. The menu was diverse, and both modern and traditional at the same time. This is a restaurant you’ll return to just so you can try everything on the menu. The food was very good. Once again, more like what you would see in Nashville, Atlanta, and even New Orleans. Everyone had the special(Pan-seared black drum with cheese grits, and bacon caramel green beans). Everything was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and plated perfectly. Ingredients were fresh, and of high quality. I’ll certainly be back.

Pardon my French, but holy s**t Mobilians, drop whatever you are eating and head immediately to Dumbwaiter. Do not pass go. Do not collect $ 200. In fact, let me use a quick personal story to illustrate just how good one particular dish was: If presented with an option better than what he’s chewing on, my 18-month-old will unceremoniously spit out what he’s eating in favor of saving room for what’s to come. And if acceptable for adults, the Brussels sprouts served here were definitely spit-out-other-food worthy. Other highlights included the green tomato stack with mozzarella and sausage and crab cream sauce, and the locally farmed Gulf oysters. Also, it’s just sexy here. Like, be-careful-because-you-might-spontaneously-become-pregnant sexy. The low lights, the exposed brick, the beautiful typography everywhere, I’d better be careful because I already have my hands full with one child. Book ahead because by 7pm on a Tuesday every seat was full. And for good reason.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. Ordered the Shrimp n Grits. Dish had nice creamy grits, andouille, and shrimp. Quite a few restaurants in this area put their own spin on this dish. So far, this has to be the best shrimp n grits in Mobile. The lunch menu has something for everyone taste buds. Prices are decent and won’t break your wallet. Service was good. Only issue is the parking. Not too many spots available, so you may have to park and walk a little distance.

Great Food Experience in Alabama. Working in Alabama from time to time gives me the opportunity to try new things. Dumbwaiter has some unique takes on traditional Southern cuisine. From Brussel sprouts dripping in a bacon jam to an Alabama Eggs Bendict, this is a great place to try something new. On a side note, wait for the waitress to announce the chef specials. They rotate a lot of foods. Get there early for lunch.

They have only been open a short time and as with any establishment they are working out the kinks. My first experience was a so good I had to come back. I’m very impressed with the menu and service. Wes Lambert(the manager I believe) took the time to make sure that I was treated like a regular. The bartender remembered my name and made me feel like family. As a traveler I can’t tell you how much that means. If you are I’m Mobile and want a great meal in a unique atmosphere you have to check this place out!
