I have been coming here since I was in high school, when I moved back to the area I was so pleasantly surprised to see that they are still there! It’s just like having homemade burgers and fries made to order, very fresh and delicious. No they are not«gourmet» burgers but they are simple and hit the spot. What I love most though is it seems that the same couple(the owners) are still working there. As of course they have aged a bit but I love supporting their business. Love this place!

Love this place. True mom and pop shop. Mom works the register, pop mans the grill. Super simple menu, but everything is made well, and made to order. Though just burgers and fries, everything is prepared with care– which yields non-greasy, crispy fries, crispy fish, crispy breaded chicken breast, and burgers not dripping in fat. Cash only. Limited seating. Parking in lot.

I’m from out of the area and I found this place by accident. Wish I kept driving because the food portions were small and expensive. This place looks run down and I was expecting alot more from the reviews. Nothing special and expensive!

I’ve been eating here since I was a kid. Love chatting it up with the owner while he cooks your food. Get the basic cheeseburger special and you won’t be sorry. The secret sauce is fantastic!

Nice people and good service, the food was average. We had a chicken sandwich and a cheese burger. I won’t come again because there’s nothing authentic about the food, basically they just buy it frozen and cook it!

Love the family that owns the place. Since I was a young WILDCAT, the burgers have been consistently GREAT. Simple, but just good!

Burger challenge #9 with Donna S. Burger Basket serves up a simple yet classic burger. Not greasy, not oily, and just tasty. I was torn between getting a cheeseburger or pastrami sandwich, but figured I should stick with the classic on my first trip. I ordered Combo #1 — a cheeseburger with fries and drink. The place is right on the corner of Duarte and Mayflower in a small strip mall, across from Nano Café. Parking can be hard to find in the small lot, but there is street parking around. Seating wise, about 4 small tables are inside with picnic style tables outside. Donna S. and I sat outside since it was crowded inside and while roomier outside, you’ll be batting some flies away when enjoying your food. A very mom and pop place. I love it.

ambiance//**** hole in the wall! i enjoy sitting outside for the fresh air~ service//**** the couple was nice and friendly and the only time they interrupted us was to ask us to return the basket because they were closing food//*** taste is very standard, but hard to top the $ 5.50 for a burger, thick cut fries, and a drink all the ingredients were super fresh and delicious ~*~ for a retro experience and a good price, this is a fun place to grab a bite and catch up with friends & family… to burger challenge #9! =9

Service — OK Food — OK Refillable fountain drinks — Good This place is a solid local joint. All the food you can eat here can be made at a Family Party at a BBQ. There is nothing wrong with that. My family and I ate here because its walk-able from my relative’s house. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries. It is a good deal. It’s a decent burger at a decent price. Good place to go to for the locals. I can tell locals go here all the time because the employees say hi to them when they come by name. The employees can be hard to understand sometimes, but they are very nice people.

Basic burger joint, beats any fast food chain hands down, and it’s pretty inexpensive. Double cheeseburger was fantastic… Fries are fat and perfectly fried. No fuss, no frills, hamburger goodness.

I’ve been here several times over the years, it’s a VERY basic and simple burger joint that I’ve come to enjoy and appreciate. The food is decent, and the prices are very affordable. The menu is extremely simple and straightforward. I usually just order a Special #1, which comes with a cheeseburger, fries, pickle, and soda. The burger, while not the pinnacle of its kind, is still quite excellent when compared to its peers in its price range. The fries are nice and crispy, and the staff will hand you a bottle of ketchup that you can squeeze and empty to your heart’s content. The staff here always seems nice enough to deal with. The restaurant is rather tiny — there is limited seating(most of it uncomfortable), and(unfortunately) no restroom available to the patrons. Parking in the lot is always spacious. Cash only(is anyone here actually surprised?). All in all, really a solid choice if you’re nearby, and want a quick, tasty meal at low cost.

This is a Mom and Pop Shop thats worth the stop! Better than In N Out in my opinion. They have the best thousand ever. I literally order 3 sides every time I’m there. By far my favorite burger stop.

Haven’t been here in years and glad to see service and food is the same! AWESOME! My girlfriend had the Fish and Fries and a side of ranch for her fries. She loved their ranch! I had the Double Cheese burger and it hit the spot!

Sometimes you just want a burger. Skip the exotic cheeses and aiolis. Hold the truffle oil fries. You just want a burger. Something that tastes like you grilled it in the backyard with quality ground beef. This is your basic no frills burger and hot dog joint. It appears to be family owned and operated and has been in business for years. A friend of mine used to ride here on her bike when she was young to get a snack. The menu is small. The interior is modest and simple. It’s located in a parking lot in a strip mall along a busy street. But it’s affordable. Their burgers taste good, and sometimes that’s exactly what you are looking for. I’ll definitely be back.

Thai… Thank you for keeping this gem of Monrovia niiiice and shiny! I had no idea that this place has been around since 1963… My favorite part about that is it remains virtually identical to it’s original opening. A DELICIOUS and simple menu makes me forget about In N Out. I’d much rather seek out The Basket. It’s got no frills whatsoever, and I like that about it! Burgers, Dogs, Pastrami, Steak Sammiches! FISH N CHIPS?! ONIONRINGS?! Classic ketchup bottles? In n Out who? If you haven’t been here yet, then go. Thank me later :) Kristofer’s Lesson of the Day: If you’re hungry, go double burger.

This hole-in-the-wall place is a hidden gem! I’ve passed by this place hundreds of times but never gave any thought into trying it. Decided to come here one night to satisfy my burger-loving boyfriend’s craving. It turned out to be delicious! The flavor of the burger and fries were on point. The whole meal was super affordable. $ 5.50 for a cheeseburger combo and $ 6.50 for the double cheeseburger. The patty is somewhat on the thin side, but for $ 5.50 you can’t expect much. It doesn’t look like a lot of food from the pictures, but it is actually really filling. I thought this meal was well worth the value and I left this place feeling even more satisfied than I would have been if I ate In-n-out. Will definitely come back and possibly try the chicken sandwich!

As I mentioned before, I prefer small businesses owned by families over corporate giants(McD’s, BK… etc) Since this is so close to home, I’ve been here many times out of convenience, hunger and to support local businesses. Now the burgers here aren’t the best in the world, especially since I’ve eaten at Umami’s and other burger joints in SF, Vegas… etc. However, Burger Basket has its own appeal. It’s not pretentious, not fancy and not stuffy. The menu is simple, the prices are affordable and the owners are nice, and that’s a nice combination. When I do go, I always get the double cheeseburger w/fries. Simple and satisfies my burger fix when I need one. It always makes me feel good when I drive by & see the place packed w/patrons. Hope they will stay.
