Stopped in today while driving through Montpelier. Such a cute place! The coffee and scones were delicious. Cute decorations with seating/standing tables.

I absolutely love going to Birchgrove when I’m in Montpelier! The place is so cute and always decorated adorably!!! Their lattes are the best in town and very reasonably priced. I have a gluten allergy and their gf selection is very tasty. I love the chocolate lemon bar and the sesame bar! I got the orange almond cake today and my mind was blown! So delicious and flavorful. Others who were with me got non gf goodies and were in love!!! Such a great spot and people who work there are always so nice!!! Thanks!!!

We bought a croissant(pretty good) and a doughnut(really good) from here brief trip to Montpelier. I felt that the store was a bit underwhelming as they didn’t have much of a selection to choose from. Maybe my expectations were too high from reading the Unilocal reviews.

We got our wedding cakes from Birchgrove and they were fabulous! We had a coconut one and a chocolate raspberry. Both were excellent but we heard non stop compliments on the coconut. I love Birchgrove and highly recommend. Staff was always helpful and available.

Nestled a little way out of Montpelier, one can find the best Chai latte in town, iced or hot! The staff are friendly and helpful, which always starts my day off the right way! Their pastries are to die for. You just can’t go wrong with Birchgrove.

This place is amazing! My husband and I were on our way back to Boston from Burlington and we found Birchgrove because of their great Unilocal reviews. The staff was super friendly and helpful and every single pastry looked so tempting. We went with the Boston Crème donut and the Vanilla glazed along with a couple cookies. Everything was fresh and delicious! Highly recommend!

Stopped by for the first time this morning for coffee and a scone and was so disappointed. The coffee was fine, but the scone was absolutely gross. There was a strange aftertaste like too much baking powder or something. Two bites in I found a giant hair baked into it, but honestly I was grateful for the excuse not to finish it even though I was super hungry. Everything looked beautiful so I suppose I would only go back if I wanted something decorative. :(

This bakery is absolutely adorable. Besides making the best iced latte I’ve ever had, they sell beautiful cards and nicknacks. I didn’t try any baked goods, but they had a good selection of desserts. I’ll definitely stop back here when I’m in town!

Oh man! Just came here this afternoon because of the high reviews, and SOWORTHIT! I tried their caramel bar, and it is possibly the best thing I’ve ever eaten. I am still in awe. Absolutely fabulous. Their tarts looks great, and would like to try one if ‘m ever in the area again.

I eat a lot of pastries in San Francisco and all around Europe and this place is top-tier. Incredible! Oh, and try a maple latte. Real local syrup and it’s expertly prepared.

Glazed doughnut was amazing. I was lucky enough to get one hot! Cute spot not a lot of seating. Coffee was very good. I didn’t try one but the deserts in the case looked delicious

Called on Wednesday for a Carrot Cake for Saturday/Sunday. Was told they were booked for the weekend. I was stunned. I’ll guess I’ll find something at a grocery store. Sad customer service. Thanks for the apology.

Our yearly trip to Vermont is always fun. Montpelier is our favorite place to visit. Our Aunt always throws a birthday party for the kids and Birchgrove is always a part of the celebration. Last year’s creation, a pyramid was awesome! We did not want to eat it! The cake was moist and delicious. This year, the theme is the Hobbit and the cake, Smaug is truly the center of attention! The kids were so excited and could not contain themselves! Birchgrove is a great bakery, I have not been inside but just by the cakes we have had, if I go in I know that I will NOT be disappointed! If you are in Montpelier, stop by Birchgrove and enjoy the delightful goods!

This place is amazing! I am pretty picky about what I consider a great bakery and the pastries at Birchgrove exceeded my expectations. Everything we tried was delicious and the Peanut Butter Tart was so good that it never even made it home. I wish there were more places that held such high standards for their products!

The pasties are of great quality and the coffee is really awesome, price is in the high side but I don’t mind paying a little more for great products.

So freakin’ amazing! Baristas are top-notch! Croissants are the best I have ever had. Pastries are fresh and change daily. The shop is super cute selling stationary, candies and cute tea cups!

I had The redeye and my wife had a double cappuccino. Both were quite good after a weekend of not being able to find any good coffee in Stowe. We stopped in on our way back to Boston after seeing it on Unilocal. We also tried a cookie which had hazelnuts, chocolate, and espresso in it which was really tasty.

This place has done an elegant cartwheel and turned into a truly divine experience. The confections are divine. The coffee is really good. I haven’t tried their homemade ice cream yet but I’ve got a feeling it’s criminally good. Way to go creating such an excellent niche in this town(and not trying to be Gesine II who had awfully big shoes). Why four stars instead of five? One nit picky caveat: Twice I have been there before closing and the staff has closed before the listed closing time. Once time a staff member literally closed the door and locked it in my face 7 minutes before they actually closed. Another employee or possibly the owner came by and very sweetly rectified the situation and we were given our coffee in a most peaceful and kind manner. BUT then I watched the same employee do this to someone else on another day. I just thought it was a bit weird. I get that you want to get the hell out of there but some of us need that last 5 minutes! Thanks.

I come to Vermont twice a year for residency and always have to make at least one stop at Birchgrove Baking. They have amazing mini cakes and pastries, that never disappoint. I’ve had smores tarts, pumpkin tarts, caramel bars, and my favorite… coconut cake. If you like coconut cake, you must try Birchgrove’s personal sized coconut cake. It’s amazing, never dry and just the right level of sweetness. Birchgrove also does excellent espresso drinks including soy lattes and tons of flavored drinks. If coffee isn’t your thing, try one of the many hot teas. I see new items all the time and love the variety of each cake. Definitely a must visit if you’re passing in the Montpelier area. They also have gluten free options!
