I love this place. Number one go-to sushi/hibachi spot. Can’t go wrong with any of the sushi roll choices, everything is delicious! Also I’m a big fan of hibachi and a simple chicken hibachi comes with soup, salad, rice, vegggies and your choice of meat. Never had a bad time!

Best Sushi in the Myrtle Beach area, we’ve had sushi all over the US and this is the best we’ve had. The selection is awesome, fish is always fresh, great service, very friendly. We go there once a week and never had a bad meal. Awesome !!!

My fiancé & I just moved from Jersey a few weeks ago and were looking to find a good sushi spot. Back home we were fortunate enough to have an AMAZING sushi restaurant around the block from our home, and we went there several times a week(Fuki Sushi, Riveredge, NJ). We knew when we moved down here that we wouldn’t find anything as good as our old spot, but if something came close it would’ve been good enough for me. I found King Kong Sushi online & it had good reviews so we decided to check it out. It’s located in a strip mall which made it look kind of sketchy to begin with, but that didn’t deter me. When we walked inside, around 4pm, a hostess scurried across the room and told us we could sit wherever we wanted. We chose a booth on the right side of the restaurant. Immediately I could see the dissatisfaction in my fiancé’s face. I asked him what was wrong and he held up his hands and said«everythings sticky». I also noticed my arms were sticking to the poorly cleaned table. Our waitress then came over and handed us very sticky menus… I couldn’t help but laugh. My fiancé ordered us a specialty drink that came in a giant bowl, served with a flame in the middle. It was pretty cool and I enjoyed the drink(he didn’t). The menu had a large selection but we were only interested in the specialty rolls. Together we ordered 5 rolls. When the rolls came out, they looked pretty good. One of the rolls that I ordered came out wrapped in foil and flaming, but when I took a piece of it, it was dead cold. Shouldn’t a flaming roll on a hot plate be served. hot? We started eating and I could tell my fiancé was beyond disappointed. He’s more picky than I am, but even I thought the sushi was extremely bland. Another thing that pissed me off is every time I picked up a piece, it would just fall apart. I’ve been eating sushi for over 10 years & I’ve just never experienced sushi falling apart how ours did. Halfway through eating my fiancé told me to stop because he didn’t want me to get sick. When the waitress asked if we wanted it packed to go my fiancé said no, but I packed it anyway so we could feed it to the fish in the lake behind our house. The bill came out to $ 100 bucks, for the crappiest sushi I’ve ever eaten. It honestly was my mistake to order so many rolls when I had never been there before, buuut now we know. And we won’t be returning there anytime, ever. I was trying to figure out how this place got so many good reviews, and then I figured out that the people must’ve been sitting at the other bar(not the sushi type!) because we all know alcohol makes EVERYTHING much better than it really is! update: at least the turtles liked the sushi!

Pretty alright for a sushi place. Not as good as I’m used to back home, but definitely not bad. The menu is a bit overwhelmingly large, and the drinks are good but very pricey. Main complaint, our server needed to be nagged for everything! Flag down for water, flag down for a drink refill, flag down for an extra course of sushi, etc. She never asked us once if we needed anything. And then, again had to flag her down for the bill! Nice interior; little bit dark but I prefer that to overlit so it didn’t bother me but it might irritate someone else. I don’t like that the front windows are *so* darkly tinted — we almost didn’t go in because the place looked like it was closed! Overall will consider going back at some point when I feel like an expensive meal — it was 85 dollars for two people(3 alcoholic drinks, two servings of tuna nigiri, one fried sushi appetizer, and two cooked entrees. No dessert).

Good food, would have received 5 stars if not for my service this weekend. Ordered food to be picked up, they forgot to include my sashimi. So I called and asked for it to be taken off the order since we were already across town and the rolls we ordered would be enough. They took down my information and said a manager would call me when he got in. It’s now Monday night and still no call from the manager. Normally I wouldn’t care, but we probably ordered $ 15 worth of sashimi that we never actually got. Shitty follow though But the food was good, I’ll give them that

Don’t even go anywhere else for sushi — no comparison. Have the Needham roll. Service at Carolina forest is marginally better but Broadway location is a great pre-game spot on Fridays and Saturday !

Some of the best sushi we have had. This place is a regular stop for us when we visit the myrtle beach area. Always good fresh sushi, and on Thursdays you get 20% off rolls. The Needham roll is a personal favorite. Don’t let the strip mall locale turn you off!

I love this restaurant and visit the Carolina Forrest location every time I visit Myrtle Beach. The sushi is fantastic, the quality of the food is top-notch, the servers are knowledgeable and friendly and the wide selection is unreal! The menu is huge with apps, entrees and well over 100 different sushi rolls, plus there’s a picture and short description for every single item on the menu. Be prepared to be overwhelmed in the best way. A unique option offered by King Kong Sushi is the ability to order either full or half-sized rolls which gives the patron the opportunity to try more rolls, but still keep the size of the meal and the price down. I highly recommend King Kong Sushi!

King Kong is THEBEST sushi restaurant in or around Myrtle Beach! I eat at this location all the time(Carolina Forest). I have never had bad service or a bad meal. All the waitstaff work their butts off. I have yet to see one of them just standing around, they are always going from table to table to the back to get food or drinks. I’ve never had to flag someone down to get a drink or for any other reason other than to say thank you. The food is always fresh and great tasting, even when you get it to go, which I do quite often for lunch. Also, they certain specials on each day every week(nigiri/sashimi/specialty rolls/alcohol/etc.) So do yourself a favor and if you are in Myrtle Beach and craving sushi, be sure to put King Kong sushi at the top of your list

#1 best sushi! We are relatively new locals. Haven’t had sushi like this before. Nothing like back at home. Its much better than back at home. You have the option of different size rolls, and most of the large ones are new creations we’ve never seen before. Fried chicken rolls, and fried calamari rolls, and ones called the ‘Dragon roll’, and the ‘Rainbow roll’, or the ‘Volcano roll’. All so so delicious! So much to choose from. And the vibe of the restaurant is great too! Price varies, I mean, its sushi. One large roll cost anywhere from $ 9-$ 15. Highly recommended sushi restaurant!!!

Try the tuna mania roll! The seared tuna with the spicy tuna really works. Haven’t had a tuna roll like this before. HUGE selection of rolls-over 100! When we came all liquor was 50% off, and the Moscow mules were delicious and served in a traditional copper mug.

I remember trying this place out last year when I came to Myrtle Beach. I think it has gone downhill! I went in yesterday on a Friday and it was a fail. First it took the waitress almost 5 minutes to acknowledge there was a customer waiting to be seated in a restaurant that’s fully empty with only one other table. She was too busy talking to the bartender. She finally seated me, told me there were 50% off on liquor! I was shocked to hear that because that means their liquor sales are down anytime you have to give away liquor pretty much. So I ordered a berry Cosmo which was good. Then I ordered the crispy calamari. Let’s just say disappointing to say the least! It was very chewy for the lack of a better term. The sushi chef said it was fresh but I am not sure why it had that sort of texture. I’ve eaten calamari many times and it’s supposed to be soft and fluffy type texture but it’s never supposed to be rubbery and chewy. Ok, then I move on to order 4 different rolls. All the rolls I ordered that came with crab, which were 3, all came with imitation crab! No fresh or real crab anywhere on these rolls. Anyone that’s eaten imitation crab, knows it has an awful taste and taste nothing like real crab meat. I told the waitress about this and she said that none of their rolls come with real crab except the spider roll I believe. So one roll comes with real crab out of over 40 kinds that they serve, and the rest fake and disgusting. I only ate the shrimp roll because the others just didn’t taste good at all because of the fake crab meat and they were also a little chewy. It was either the seaweed paper or the rice which had the chewy, gummy type texture on the rolls. I probably won’t ever come back. Quite sure there is someplace else here that has to serve better, fresh sushi with real ingredients. This is a disgrace to the sushi world!

Just finished up my visit, now I need a nap. Never would have guessed this place would be in a strip mall. Thought my GPS went crazy… I had the No Name and Volcano Rolls. Delicious! The service at the bar was excellent. I explained to my server that I was a first timer. She recommended my beer and both rolls. I enjoyed my experience. If your in the area and want great sushi, stop in and say hello.

So far it’s the best Sushi place I’ve ever been to. The roll choices are abundant and amazing, it’s less crowded and easier to navigate to than the one at Broadway at the Beach, and all around a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Service was great to top it off.

Worst place for sushi. My roll was all rice. Overpriced and the Miami Roll(tuna, avocado and cucumber) had no sighting of tuna. I’ve attached a photo of a piece. AVOID

We ate here for lunch and came back as suggested. The night crowd is WAY different with a live DJ, great drinks and the same great service. This location is less touristy than the Broadway location but still packed and a lot of fun!

Direct from the name of this place you should first know the rolls here are HUGE! I scoured Unilocal to help find a true sushi bar and this was the best of the lot. For good reason too because the place was just perfect. The rolls were great and I couldn’t be more impressed. Most importantly they will always leave a mark with me based on being served a sushi roll that was literally on fire when presented to the table. That was a first for me and hard to forget! Service was great and the décor was trendy chic.
