I have lived around the corner from this place for more than 15 years. I’ve been stuck with them as they only choice when all else was closed 3 times and it was totally sub par each time. They such as a neighbor too. Cedar street is a mountain of garbage from early afternoon till 4am thanks to them. If they are open 24 hours they should put the trash out a couple of hours not all damn day.

Former NY’er and was spending some time in lower Manhattan. Stopped in at Charly’s for and sausage, egg and cheese on a roll. Service was fast, friendly and gosh it was so good. You can’t get this kind of breakfast item in NC!
Only minor negative was that it was difficult to find a clean table in their upstairs seating area.

Had the saddest little cheesesteak at this joint. I was too lazy to haul ass and walk the extra half mile to go to shorty’s and ended up here — hopeful the reviews were wrong. My cheesesteak came out cold, thin, and reminiscent of high school cafeteria food. Avoid. If you want some bombass cheesesteak, get it from Shorty’s. That’s where I hightailed to right after (pizza cheesesteak with whiz… you’re welcome)

The only reason it’s taken me so long to write a review is that I’m embarrassed to write how often u order chicken strips, cheese steaks or French fries. This place is honestly the best. They are so fast and for what we order you can’t ask for better. They are my guilty pleasure and you can’t do wrong by them. We even have vegetarian friends in the hood that love their pizza. If you’re in fidi, battery park or TriBeCa – hell, anywhere these guys deliver – please give them a try

I went to Charly’s during my lunch break. It’s next to a pizza place so it’s easy to pass by. I had a Philly Cheesesteak with onions, lettuce and tomato. The customer service was pretty good. They asked questions and blah, blah, blah. The food was a bit expensive though if you’re trying to keep your lunch under 10 bucks. But it is worth it. The cheesesteak was huge and good as hell. I’ll pass on the fries though. They were bland and as expensive as they are I thought they would be seasoned or at least be a bit less lanky. I’ve made better fries and I’m a mediocre cook. Overall, good choice if you want something not in the least bit healthy, you have a bit of coin to spend and you’re in the area.

Late Night Drunken Pizza. I had a caprese slice. It had pizza sauce plus mozzarella, tomato, and basil. It was crunchy, carb-y, and overall good for absorbing the alcohol. Would I go here sober? Probably not. So I will give this safe, middle of the road review for now.

This grab and go spot makes quick snacks and coffee a breeze.
The architecture of this place allows for easy enter and exit.
I had a steak quesadilla last summer which I remember being edible.
The coffee is hot and fast. Bonus points because they allowed me to make a $ 2 purchase on my card since I forgot to stop at the atm!

I was traveling from DC for work and got in a little later than expected. I was starving. I was staying at the Residence Inn and asked the front desk who would deliver because I just didn’t feel like going out to get something. They suggested Charly’s. I could tell it was pretty much a place to get fast food which I’m not opposed to at all! The tricky part was, I was 23 days into the Whole 30 challenge so there was only limited items I could eat. I chose the garden salad with grilled chicken. I have to say it was awesome! I was so happy. It was huge, the chicken was tasty, and there were a ton of veggies on the salad.

Overall its a pretty decent place to grab a bite in the downtown area. Had lunch here and ordered a Philly Cheesesteak and Fries. It was well made and the fries were nice and crispy. It also has other choices of food such as quesedillas, burritos, wings, pizza and burgers. Not to mention shakes, cookies, and other indulgences. It has a small clean dining area on the second floor.
I would recommend this place for lunch if you happen to be in the area and don’t want to spend $ 15+ for lunch.

I appreciate that Charly’s serves a purpose. Its right smack in the middle of town and somewhere your quite likely to be if you’ve say, visited the ⁹⁄₁₁ site, come back from Ellis Island, just seen Wall Street and Tiffany’s.
But to be honest. New York is home to some of the best food in the world. Pizza, Sandwiches, and every national cuisines you can think of that Charly’s doesn’t do.
My food was a little pricey, it came with random handful of dry chips from an open box behind the counter and for New York standards it was a fairly small portion.
It serves a need but if you’ve the time and your on the tourist trail there are much better places to head to.
Didn’t do anything wrong, just didn’t do anything right.

I was in FIDI this morning and I had a craving for a Charly’s breakfast sandwich. Just as good as the last time. Went with a sausage egg and cheese on a roll. The sausage patty was well seasoned, cooked nicely and yummy. Egg scrambled well and the cheese was fine. All put together on a roll which was able to hold all ingredients without falling out. For under $ 5 you can’t beat it. It’s a hole in the wall kinda place but worth a visit.

This place mainly earns it’s stars from being open so late at night. That and the orders at that hour are cooked fresh. The prices here can be a bit steep but it is Manhattan.
The selection is actually pretty big and there is also the Pizzeria part of it as well. Not the best place but for an area that is nearly completely shut down at night, Charlys keeps it going all night.
