My go to Fast food Chinese, especially for pickup. Love their garlic chicken, always good meat cuts and prime veggies. Portions are legit and lunch specials are quick and worth it.

The Orange Chicken and a bunch of other dishes here are the big diggity yo. This is an awesome restaurant. I used to live across the street about ten years ago and stumbled in after a work out at 24/hr fitness before home and I ordered some Orange chicken and BAM! the crispness and freshness got me, made me fall in love like when I first set eyes on my first crush back in middle school. in 2006 I moved away to go to SDSU and to this day ten years later I still live in San Diego but I will make the almost one hour drive solely with the intention to just hit that spot up again(like I did today) and every time the chow mien, orange chicken and honey chicken is the bomb just like I remember the first time I had em. The people that work there are super respectful, courteous and fast. Overall great service, awesome food! oh almost forgot to mention the dishes you order are good for two people, and you still have plenty to bring home for lunch and dinner the next day!

We used to live near here and got take out from here on a pretty regular basis. The first couple visits were great, but the last few times the food was pretty gross. Sauces were gelatinous like someone made a mistake with the corn starch. Too salty and gooey, and luke warm meals at best. We stopped getting food from here. They do have a really good soup with lots of veggies and some chicken and shrimp. I don’t remember what is was called, but it was very good. The veggies in it were very fresh and plentiful. If you come here, limit to soup and egg rolls and you will be fine. Stay away from anything with a thick gooey brown sauce.

For non-family style Chinese food, this place is really good. It’s very casual– you order and pay at the register, then find your own seat. The prices are fair, especially the lunch specials. I’ve been coming here for over a decade, and my favorites are the fried rice, pan fried crispy noodles, chow mein, and pretty much any entrée off the lunch menu. Many of the dishes here shine in all their garlicky, oily glory. This might seem minor to most, but after patronizing this place for so long, one might think the people who own this place and those who work here would be a bit more than cordial. No, «Hey, how’ve ya been lately?», or small talk. I bet if I didn’t say, «Thank you, see you next time!», that they would let me leave without saying anything. But it’s not like they are rude… Pros: — fast service — large shrimp — outside seating — white meat chicken for many dishes — non-gummy beef — open kitchen — self-serve water — grab your own to-go boxes — fresh veggies(fried rice sucks with frozen peas and square carrots) — redecorated interior, yet… Cons: — zero ambience — don’t take Discover — crappy restroom — parking lot is small

The food was wonderful! My Hot and Sour Soup tasted ever before grand. The Cashew Chicken had lots of vegetables and can taste the cashew within my wooden chopsticks. They have a big list of items for Lunch Specials to choose from! The pork dumpling was cooked until excellence! 5 stars for good service and delicious food! Can’t wait to try the egg roll next! :)

I love Chinese food and this was not good Chinese food. The fried rice tasted like steamed rice with soy sauce. We ordered Orange chicken Beef broccoli Kung Pao teriyaki chicken bowl Egg drop soup Sweet and sour soup The sauces on all the food had the same texture. This thick goupy and salty sauce. The orange chicken did not have much meat inside. Over breaded. The soups were not good at all. They have the same texture as the sauces. It wasn’t a soup texture it was really thick and gelatin like. I couldn’t eat it. I didn’t feel good after eating . I would have rather gone to Panda Express. The only good thing about my experience here was that he bathroom was clean. I won’t be eating here again. Really disappointed

My family and I have been going to Great Wok of China for many years. It is our go to Chinese restaurant. Food is always good, and made pretty quickly. We always order to go and have never had an issue of any items missing. The Moo Shu chicken is super good.

If your from back east i.e. NYC or the surrounding area this is the only place that has food that reminds you of home. Not sure if they deliver but I always get the Kung poa and it reminds me of being home

Always so amazing. We love the garlic chicken and the shrimp fried rice. The customer service is great! And the food is fast and fresh. No one likes small portions of chicken or proteins mixed in and that is no problem here! Plenty of shrimp, plenty of chicken! On nights we order asian, we will only order here or call in to love boat for sushi… or sometimes both. Lol Thanks Great Wok of China for consistently great food and always being friendly when we come in! We will continue spreading the word and coming in often!

Our favorite Chinese restaurant. My son complained they are heavy on vegetables but it is always delicious. King Pau Chicken has plenty of peanuts.

Very good for the price. If you are looking for the best Chinese you have ever had, go to the super pricey places and pay a lot more. this is good food that is reasonable.

Hohumm. Nothing exciting. Can’t understand how they got 4 stars. Noddles have no veggies, dish was drenched in sauce overload, overall bland.

Orange chicken was nasty. They definitely do not change the oil they fry things in to often, and the chicken pieces were almost all offal mixed with hard pieces of dark meat. My husband’s chow mein was ok.

I was around the area yesterday and decided to stop by this for some take out. It was 3:45 pm, so I had just missed the lunch specials :(Which are cheaper and smaller portions that ended at 3:30 pm. Oh well, I needed to bring lunch to work the following day anyways. I ordered: — BBQ Pork Chow Mein — Spicy Honey Chicken(chicken was a lil overcooked) — under $ 20.00 I don’t really consider this cheap. But the portions were big since they were the full entrees. It’s a step up from Panda Express. Was it instant sanctification when I ate it? Yes, of course, it’s the typical Americanized Chinese food. Did I feel sluggish and thirsty afterwards? Of course I did. I knew what I was getting myself into, but there’s no good Chinese food options in North County.

The reviews do not lie. This is hands down the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Its fresh, made to order, incredibly tasty, and you can order ahead. I’ve tasted so far the Mongolian beef, orange chicken, and bbq pork with vegetables and they are all made perfectly. The only con is that it can be pricey, but the quality and service you’re getting makes up for that. I’ve found my new go to place and encourage everyone to go ahead and give them a try, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Been coming here for years and the«food» never disappoints!!! The weekday Lunch specials are always a favorite of mine. They have about 20 different specials to choose from. I ordered the spicy honey chicken, comes with rice and two appetizers I chose an egg roll and a bowl of egg drop soup. It was delicious as always-and they always give a large helping so I took some home, it’s definitely enough to share. I had lunch with the mother and she ordered the beef lo mein also comes with rice and 2 sides. She loved it and boxed the rest. There’s an outdoor seating area that is shared between a few other food places. The tables are dirty and sometimes people leave their cigarettes out there so ash is everywhere and sometimes Leaves a smoky smell. There’s a lack of communication, they should be keeping up with cleaning the tables more. The guy that helped us was sweet and helpful, Tim I believe his name was.

Not only was it the saltiest food I’ve ever had my entire life, I also found a hair in my food. Horrible experience. Will not be coming here again.

The mooshu pork and chicken chop suey was nice and saucy. Really good stuff with white rice. Nothing like Chinese food in LA but definitely one of the better ones in Oceanside. Just steer clear of their soups, which seems to be super bland or salty :)

An oasis of very good Chinese food in a desert of that cuisine. I take the 15 minute trip to the Great Wok from here from Carlsbad Village to get a Chinese fix, bypassing our other meager offerings to do that. Great Wok is not fancy or much to look at by any means, but the food is tasty, quick, and cheap. The old standby of dinner-sized Kung Pao Chicken, which comes with an ample bowl of steamed rice, is enough to feed two and/or also cover for breakfast, and runs about $ 11 with a drink. And using that Kung Pao Chicken standby also as a yardstick, the Great Wok is a little tastier and less oily than the already damn good one served up on the Carlsbad/O-Side border by Quik Wok, is definitely tastier, quicker, and less expensive than what you’d find at the Carlsbad PF Changs, and puts the shameful dishes from our local Overseas restaurant to even greater shame.

It’s your standard Chinese food. I didn’t find anything extra special but nothing particularly bad either. I picked up dinner for the fam. Checked out the menu. Decent prices. Didn’t have all the options I’m used to but many I recognized. Got the house chow mien with shrimp, beef and chicken. Thought it was kind of nice that it was the same price as the other chow mein options. Also got the Orange chicken. This was good but admittedly dosed in a thick sweet sauce(little more than I’m used to and almost candy like) making it clearly a very high calorie dish. Great for husband but not for me. We also got the chicken vegetables tossed in a white sauce. Nice healthy option, was a little bland, guess it helped to balance out the orange chicken, haha! It was really busy with a consistent line of 1 – 3 people. They were fully staffed with everyone super busy. Very impressed seeing everyone working together like clock work. People were not necessarily smiley just busy doing there jobs. The inside was a bit run down. They had a wall of pictures of chinese food plates and they were all faded practically white not having been replaced in years. Place definitely needed some sprucing up. But I guess if business is rolling in why fix it if it ain’t broke lol! I did not find out till after I placed my order that they charge extra for fried rice, which most places don’t do that. I was going to purchase it separate but you have to spend a min of $ 4 to use your card. So oh well, white rice is healthier anyways. There was good size portions. Paid a total of $ 28 Will have enough food for the next few days haha!
