Came here for dinner with my parents and their college friends and the setting is better than the food. The waiter was very attentive and sweet. However, the service was really slow. We kept getting our orders very late. I ordered the blackened ahi tuna which wasn’t the best. The wine and house salad was the best of the night for me. we ordered a couple bottles of terazas melbec which came down smooth. Overall, the local is looks nice but the food and service is not spectacular.

I read this menu during my first visit to Palm Springs a few days ago. I was nearly drooling just reading it out loud to my friend. It was the end of a beautiful and fun day and the food sounded solid and well crafted. Arrival at the restaurant was a little surprising as it was nearly empty. However, it WAS superbowl Sunday and also a bit on the early side. We had a choice of nearly everywhere to sit. And that is what we did. SIT. ANDWAIT. for the waiter. to bring a water and take a drink order. at least ten minutes. only about seven other patrons even in the place. basically this set the immutable tone for the evening. When finally we were allowed to meet our waiter he nearly redeemed himself for a nano second when he either personally handstuffed the olives or got someone to do it. that was the single only delightful thing for the whole meal. oh, and the bread. good bread. He immediately returned to his apparent natural state of tardiness and bad service. this bad service is most, but not all, of why the meal was basically RUINED. We both ordered Filet Oscar. It is one of the specials. it isn’t a zillion dollars but it aint a bargain either. based on the price i had an expectation of a small but excellent filet and good quality crab. when it arrived it was unattractive from sitting under some heating element for WAYWAYWAY too long. the three spears of asparagus atop the crab/meat pile were burned looking and wilted, wobbly, gross. and i bet they arrived in that space in full on deliciousness al dente and crisp. my first bite of the main event: shell. bigish shell, like as long as the cap to a cheap ballpoint pen. RIGHT? never should have happened. Oscar Filet has only ever been served to me as a FILET. like a solid, smallish, piece of steak. and yet at CHOPHOUSE, under the wilted, ruined asparagus and the shell filled crab, and some other off putting thing, potatoes? there was a frankenstein steak all scooted together but cut into several pieces. my friend did not get a steak in this format! she had a standard issue filet. i kept wondering why i got alpo. or something worse. by now i don’t even feel like eating. they burned the one extra side we ordered and didn’t tell us it was coming up when the food was served. so we had to ask after it. and when it arrived we wished we hadn’t. it sounded so perfect, brussel sprouts done shaved, but it was completely incongruent for the meal and even for the restaurant. this side had a heavy scent of chinese food to it. what? and also TOTALLY visually unappealing. we didn’t eat it. I think the combination of sketchy food and really BAD waiter work left me wanting an oasis. i won’t make this mistake again. on the bright side, the back up guy to the waiter was friendly and polite. and they had forks. we didn’t have to pick the meal up with our hands. so. you know.

Parking is a nightmare; besides that regardless of having a reservation, you still have to wait 20 mins before being seated. I agree with other Unilocalers, the service is lacking; we waited at least 15 mins to order drinks and food. The ahi tuna appetizer was bland plus it was tough because the silky fat was still attached. The food was just plain. Do not recommend bringing a date here not coming on Valentine’s weekend. You will be disappointed.

Fabulous meal here. A restaurant with outdoor seating, upstairs and great booths too. Valentines dinner was excellent. Never felt rushed and their wasn’t a fixed menu either which we hate. We enjoyed the Sea Bass and rib eye steak.

The food is unbelievable! Easily the best steak I have ever had. Service is superb. Ambience is great. A little on the pricey side, but worth every cent.

If you want a perfectly seasoned steak while visiting Palm Springs, then the Chop House is the place to go. I enjoyed the ambiance. The service was impeccable and on point. The gin martinis were superb. I had the prime rib and felt it was better than anything I could have ordered at the Five Crowns in Corona Del Mar. I highly recommend their pomegranate vinaigrette house salad. Just about all the«hot spots» in Palm Springs are«a scene», but The Chop house is a quiet, upscale dining establishment that won’t disappoint, and I’m a steakhouse snob.

The SERVICEISTERRIBLE! The food is 3 stars. The oysters tasted fishy to me, but my husband said they’re the best he’s had. The steak was nicely cooked and tasted fine but nothing to rave about. The Augraten potatoes are always good but this time they were cold, but the asparagus was cooked perfectly! The ahi tuna was tasteless and seemed old to me. The lobster bisque is the best around along with the bread you get before the meal. The beers were completely flat. The Mac and Cheese was fresh and yummy as were the kids meals(we ordered them all). The salads were delicious! We were a party of 10, on Christmas Eve 2015, so we were going to spend money. My dad’s steak did not come out until everyone else was halfway done eating. The waiter originally said he forgot to put his order in(under his breath), but later said it was cooked to a charred piece so they didn’t bring it out. When it finally came out, my dad was upset and asked for his meal to be comped. The waiter gawked at that and got a «manager». Her mouth dropped open when my dad repeated his request and she looked around the table trying to argue that we were not almost done with our meals. We asked for yet another manager. This manager stands by our table without introducing himself until I ask if he’s the manager. He says yes and we repeat our request. He says«no», that he «has to account for the steak somehow» and says we «either eat it and pay for the steak or give the steak back». I’m flabbergasted! I have eaten at so many restaurants and nice, high end ones at that. In fact, I’ve eaten at the Chop House probably more than a dozen times! I have NEVER had a manager not comp a meal if it is their fault it’s wrong(or late). They didn’t offer to make it better either. No free dessert or an appetizer on them for next time, not even an «I’m sorry» or a discount. So they basically just took my dads steak away and he nibbled on our leftovers. How pathetic and what terrible service! Hopefully if you ate there that night, you weren’t eating that steak that«needs to be accounted for». Hopefully they threw it in the trash, but wouldn’t a better customer service move have been to give the steak for free(at a loss) but have several happy customers??? Now I will NEVER go back and as someone who dines in Palm Springs several times a month, I will never recommend it either. And too bad, it was a good place with several things that were excellent on the menu. I can’t believe a place like this is running it this way!!!

I love, love, love this place. I had the yummy pork chop and my guy had the steak. Both were juicy and super tender. Our server Andrew was awesome too!

This restaurant stands above the rest. The wife and I were in town for a weekend getaway and we’re ready for a nice dinner and made a great choice. We had the dinner for two chateaubriand and it was amazing! Our server Dakota was the best the most polite young man we have ever had as a server and all his recommendations we excellent. We chose this restaurant over the steak house across the street and was a great choice. I can also recommend the oyster Rockefeller it was perfect ! I will be back next time we visit.

We ate here the night after spending $ 461.64 at another steakhouse that had mediocre(at best) service and okay food. Maybe it was that experience that made this place shine so much, but here are the facts based on our experience: — The service was top notch(I actually asked to speak with the manager to tell him how great Marc — our server — was) — The food was excellent — The supporting staff was top notch(I drink water like crazy — to the point where I typically will ask for two glasses — it became a joke with my wife and I that the busboy never allowed me to go under half a glass) — The ambience was great There’s literally not a negative thing I could say about this place and we will certainly be back.

Not our favorite foodie place. Sadly. We payed way too much for our anniversary dinner. We started with Lobster Bisque. It was not very good, and I’ve tried Lobster Bisque quite a few times. We shared the Chateaubriand with lobster mashed potatoes. They served hollandaise sauce with it. The steak wasn’t even very tender or flavorful. The potatoes were not like any I’ve ever had – again, no flavor. To top the evening off, the atmosphere was dated with a raunchy couple who sat a table over from us. The guy was wearing a sleeveless undershirt(wife-beater), was rambling on his phone, and belched like it was an all you can eat buffet after being at a bar all day. No manners whatsoever.

Came here tonight for my birthday. Andrew(our server) was awesome but the food was just meh. I had the Rib Eye which needed more flavoring and it also had a piece of foil on the bottom but the y accommodate us and took that off of our bill. My husband had the filet with crab(Oscar) and though it was pretty tasty but it needed to be warmed as it was not warm at all. For the sides we had the Brussels and lobster Mac. Both were pretty good. We also had the crime brûlée which was good! I would give it a 3 stars based on food but Andrew numbs it up to a 4 just because he was great.

Had a Labor Day/anniversary vacation to Palm Springs and wanted to cap the trip off with a nice dinner. From the start– we were warmly greeted by our hostess, she sat us down promptly and were introduced to our stellar waitress(kasey) I believe. Pros– strong delicious cocktails Opted for a bigger and juicer(large) rib eye per recommendation. So worth it! Perfect medium rare. Fantastic salmon dish with lobster mash and bok choy And the most amazing vanilla bean crème brûlée known to man. Cons– potatoes au gratin were«soso» We didn’t come hungry enough to eat more! Loved the service and food. We will have to come back every trip now.

Not a top notch steakhouse in the truest sense of the word. However, between the décor, ambiance, service & value you get for food, don’t pass it by thinking that its gonna take an entire paycheck and then some. It’s great for midday or lunch or dinner. For $ 33 for 6 oz. filet mignon & the quality of the meat, that just can’t be beat! Décor: Updated Modern People: Mostly tourists Service: Excellent Food: Average Parking: FREE parking garage on 111 W. Barristo Road, PS, 92262 Note on Thursday nights in Palm Springs. Not my favorite. All the streets are closed off on Palm Canyon and you are forced to re-route yourself for quite a while before you can loop around back to where you intended on going. :-/

Really good service. Food was solid. I got the porter house which was decent. They pan fry it then finish it in the oven which isn’t my favorite way, but I ended up eating most of it. My wife had the chicken and she liked it. Not a lot of options for non steak lovers fyi. It’s a really big place. Will come back

My boyfriend and I were in Palm Springs for the weekend and both wanted some really good steak. We Unilocaled out a few several places in Downtown, and yes there are a lot of restaurants to choose from. We decided on Chop House, and expected there to be a long wait for dinner so made reservations for 9:30 on a Saturday night. We were feeling hungry earlier than expected and arrived at the place by 8:45 to see if we can be seated. The place wasn’t as busy compared to the other restaurants that we had passed, maybe because the place is located at the end of Downtown? Anyways the restaurant and greeter were very friendly and took us to our seats right when we got in and accommodated our early arrival. The ambiance of the place was romantic-ish and surprisingly quiet, which worked out since I was feeling under the weather and lost my voice at the time. The bread that they give you was great and we both ate every bite of it. We finally settled on ordering our meal. I settled with the 10 oz New York Steak medium rare, and my boyfriend got the Rib-Eye Steak medium. Ordering sides are priced separately, but the main entrée does come with a salad with this raspberry vinaigrette, which was delicious! As for the sides, we ordered mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and the loaded potato. The wait wasn’t bad at all since we were both occupied with eating all the bread. Now as for the verdict of the steak… Yes I am a fan! I’ve recently just started having my steaks cooked medium rare, and my New York steak was no exception. It was moist and tender and enjoyed every bite. The sides we ordered went perfect with our meal. The mashed potatoes and asparagus had great taste with the steaks we ordered, although I think we would’ve been OK without the baked loaded potatoes. My boyfriend also enjoyed his Rib-eye steak, and we were both stuffed at the end of our meal. We definitely didn’t need desert. Overall, any good steak will be a bit pricy, and this place was worth every penny. I would come here again for their steak if and when I am back in Palm Springs.

Excellent service and steaks were delicious, very tender and cooked just as we ordered them. Also ordered broccoli and mashed potatoes –they were decent. In all honesty, the steaks themselves were enough food and on our next visit we will not order any sides as these are nothing special. Great service from our waitress Lynda. She was very attentive to the entire restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by our meal, overall Unilocal rating doesn’t do this place justice. Definitely 4 – 5 stars.

So delicious, worth every pricey penny! I got the Surf N Turf Fettuccine a LA Vodka. It was creamy and bursting with flavor. Shrimp, steak and broccoli too, it’s like a complete meal in one bowl! More than I could eat! I upgraded my side to the Lobster Bisque, hands down best I’ve ever had. My husband got the 14oz Prime Rib, just in time too, they sold out shortly after! It’s that good! He said it was like cutting through butter, so tender. Just a dang good steak. Even the kids food was good, my girls got the mac n cheese and it’s no Kraft crap. It’s made with real cheese and it was so good, I wanted to eat it myself! Service was good, a little slow but it was a Friday night and packed. Our waiter was very friendly though.

The Chop House is top-choice for a very-good & very-nice dinner in Palm Springs. Time after time, it delivers commendable customer service and the finest in meats. I like that all their steaks and chops are butchered in-house and grilled. It’s my long-time favorite steak house(since 2000), over-and-above the many established in The Desert. They feature All-Natural Premium Angus Beef, USDA Prime aged steaks & chops, a Grass-Fed Ribeye, and sustainable fish. Actually, The Kaiser Family of Restaurants — including Kaiser Grille(both in Palm Springs & Palm Desert) and The Grind BRGR Bar deliver continuity of quality-service coupled with fantastic-fare. My dining companions thoroughly enjoyed the crab cakes — they were an authentic version to the Maryland classic — with big lumps of crab, asparagus spears and little breading. Crab cakes will always be pretty rich in calories, so an order of 2($ 29) were meant to be shared. I like the standards — like The Wedge($ 10) iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles — just a little bacon, and with balsamic vinegar — done my way. The Sea Bass($ 33) was delicately prepared and consciously sourced — the side of Haricots Verts mixed with Marcona Almonds, were fresh(single side $ 4). The 8 ounces of Filet($ 36) was skillfully grilled, and perfectly seared and then served. This is the place for steaks & chops. Service is simply understated, spot-on. More so, is the Management style of Daniel Tellez, which is hands-on the dinner plates and eye-on details. He elevated our dining experience and demostrated customer-service excellence. His menu suggestions, wine recommendations, and friendliness left quite an impression — 5 stars.
