We had a great meal tonight with excellent service and delicious food. I had lower expectations based on all these bad reviews but I feel like there must be something political going on. The service was attentive and excellent, great drinks, solid(not the best I’ve ever had but certainly good!) food. Recommend!

Had an outstanding meal staring with the best Foie gras terrine I’ve ever had! The steak was exceptional and the brussels sprouts should not be passed up! The levels of flavor kept me wanting more. The staff is highly trained, knowledgeable and super friendly on this busy night! The lounge and Seymour speakeasy are on point! Don’t pass this hip and cool place up!

We just had our second great experience at Mr. Lyons. The steaks are impeccable and perfectly prepared, the side dishes are great and so are the salads. Ask for Michael, great waiter and very knowledgeable. This is not an inexpensive restaurant but here you get what you pay for.

This restaurant group has lost its mojo, last experience at Birba was average. Mr. Lyons: If a restaurant is going to participate in Restaurant Week they should do so willingly and look at it as an opportunity to promote, gain new clients and to create valuable referrals/buzz. I was left with the impression they were put-off by it. There were five well-heeled locals that will never return and no doubt share the experience. The $ 38 Prix Fix menu was very basic and lacked anything special in my view — Salmon, 5 oz Filet or Beef Cheeks. In the spirit of restaurant week between us we tried most all the offerings. Beef cheeks lacked any taste or flavor, one individual had one bite and put his fork down. The other said, «this is really bad but I am starving at this point». The filet as average. I had the lettuce wedge, 5 oz filet and the chocolate au pot. We all laughed at the portion of mashed potatoes and challenged each other to get the serving onto one spoon. Potatoes are cheap — use it as an opportunity to take up a little space on the plate. The desert portion(small jar) was about the size of a ramekin. Desert is the last impression on the meal and generally inexpensive, use it to make the last impression a positive one. I had a «signature martini and the bar and the you would expect a $$$$ bar/restaurant to have a glass chiller. Just average. I could go on, however let’s move-on to the service: After being at the table OVER one full hour(starving and 9:00 p.m.) we inquired about perhaps some bread as the energy level was dropping. Ten minutes asked we asked again, 5 minutes later we asked the manager as he passed by. After the third request the bread finally came with our long awaited first course. A very long wait for a small wedge, soup(chilled) and average sliced bread. Even the bread did not live up to a $$$$ steakhouse. It was literally out of a bag from Jensen’s at best. Again, it was now well over an hour and nothing brought to our table actually needed to be cooked! During this wait we look around an no one seemed to have food. Whether it was the poor service, painfully long wait or untouched meal no one seemed to ask questions, suggest something else be brought, apologized for an obviously long wait for bread and salad(over 1 hour). No accountability or attempt to build goodwill. As a note, we also consumed 3 bottles of nice wine. This market is not LA or Orange County with an endless supply of traffic/people, the owners need to figured out how serve the premium market. Nothing special and this Lyons will likely become extinct.

Went for Restaurant Week. Service was slow, we received no bread and the food was very average at best. The lighting is too dark and the servers seemed to disappear. I really wanted to like this place, but the only thing I liked was the Crème Brûlée. I had the Beef Cheeks and Steak Tartare and it was nothing to brag about. Great space, but misses the mark on so many levels.

So I’m here in PS at a fancy hotel, looking for a great restaurant tonight to entertain. Mr. Lyon’s was mentioned but when I read these spotty reviews, I wonder why the management doesn’t respond? Who would want to blow $$$$ if the ratings average out to two stars? People rave or they’re vitriolic. That’s what Unilocal’s for– keep this track record up and Mr. Lyon’s will be no more.

This is the first restaurant I’ve ever felt compelled to review. I have 10 years of experience in the service industry and normally would never leave negative feedback, but my purpose here is to prevent anyone from having a similar awful experience as did myself and my party. To avoid authoring a post rivaling a Tolstoy novel in word count, I can only summarize our experience; Rude and clumsy service, imposter steaks and overall poor quality. We thought we’d at least get by on sides… We thought wrong. The highlight of this meal was the waitress forgetting a diner’s filet for(no exaggeration) 25 minutes until we were able to get her attention. The steak, ordered medium, finally came out bloody and cold. We politely told the manager that we were done, and he proceeded to bring out another cut of meat 15 minutes later that was CLEARLY not a filet mignon, but rather a lower grade flank or something. This is only one example of the shotty effort and lack of care given by the staff here. Except for one busser with glasses who brought us bread. That guy was cool. I realize that my comments may seem harsh, but our visit to Mr Lyons was absolute garbage in all regards. I would recommend most anywhere else in Palm Springs for a pricey dinner.

Perpetrators Looks like a nice restaurant but anything but. From the moment we sat down there was an uncomfortable feeling that we were not welcome. Water, cocktails and table bread seem to roll out with confusion. We felt that the menus was straight forward and tried to order within it. They completely forgot my wife’s steak and seems unapologetic for the mistake. Then continued their fumbling ways manhandling side dishes, cleaning plates too early and forcing the check. Management seemed to recognize inconsistency, by still failed to fix the problem. Instead of figure out how to rectify our food being handling by bare hands or our missing meals they pushed more booze. Avoid

This place ruined my appetite forever. We had reservations for 8:30 and still didn’t have our table at 9:30pm. Hello? I ordered an end cut of prime rib. What came out of the kitchen was a bloody slab of fat and grissle. Even worse was my 2 friends had fish plates that smelled like the Hermosa Beach pier. Never again. This place is the appetite killer.

Kudos to Mr Lyons. A great meal and I loved my filet and sides — amazing — but the key to a great eatery is how they react when things go wrong. A couple of buddies had a less than expected experience and management was honorable and totally made it right. Good on you, Mr Lyons. I live 2 blocks away and will definitely be back.

Seriously… wtf… Looks amazing BUT. Walked into the lobby and no host/hostest… Waited for 2 minutes, went to the bar to acknowledge we were there waited another 2 minutes for a server to grab us drink menus throw us in the nearest booth and leave us. No water, no menu, no «we’ll be right with you» walked out after another 5 minutes. Very disappointed

Two perfect steak dinners, probably the best steak we’ve ever had. Wine selection was great and the service was PERFECT. Great for special occasions, or if you want a great piece of tasty steak. Buzz bus goes right by the resto. Try Chicago style!

I’ve been hoping that this remake of Lyons English Grille would find its footing and become a favorite. No luck. I’ve been there four times. It’s gotten worse. We were seated in the front room, which is bordered on one side by an upholstered bench. The foam in the cushion has broken down and makes dining extraordinarily uncomfortable. The room filled up, and the ambient sound level rose to uncomfortably loud levels. My ears were actually ringing as I walked out. Casual conversation was impossible across a table. Cocktails are up to $ 18 each. Our waiter(this restaurant seemed woefully understaffed, our guy was likeable but scrambling, service was predictably slow as a result.) recommended oysters Rockefeller. They were great. The entrée special was veal, and was special. Really good. The prime rib was inedible. Laced with really tough gristle. A complete waste of $ 32. Summary: Super noisy, uncomfortable seating, slow service, overly expensive(and I don’t mind paying a premium for a premium experience), just a horrible experience. Even the help remarked that people complain about that ridiculously designed bench seating. I saw some friends from around town while at Mr. Lyons. they aren’t going back either.

I had the happy hour nibble of Prime Rib medallion, which is a beautifully aged and cooked prime rib, house made horseradish and baked potato– so savory and unctuous. The meat cut like butter and was beautifully tender, hint of smoke to it with the horseradish providing that pleasing bite that tickles the back of your nose. The potato was fully loaded in a compact and pleasing aesthetic, crunches of bacon and chives with every bite. Delicious for an under $ 25 meal including the lovely Pinot Grigio I had with it, though a dry red wine like a 2009 Beaujolais Morgon would have paired much better — my bad. Festive and lively bar — wish I had time to try the happy hour beignets and our server was adorable and solicitous. I’ll definitely go back!

A well-deserved 5 stars. Our party of 10 received impeccable service. Everyone’s food and sides came out correctly and was well-timed. I love a good martini, and theirs were made perfect. The filet was cooked perfectly medium rare. Delicious mac’n’cheese. Broccolini still slightly crispy. The indio sauteed corn was tasty. The restaurant just offers such great little details… they even split my and my bf’s salad onto 2 plates without even being asked. Arrive here earlier than your reservation so you can enjoy a drink in their dark yet friendly bar.

Great Food and service! Came here for dinner and had a wonderful time. The wait staff was fun and charismatic. The sommelier was very funny and honest about there wines. She also took the time to actually talk to us about wine rather than just suggest it. The food was excellent. I had the Matzo Ball Soup which was delicious and had a terrific presentation(table side pour!). For my main I had the beef Wellington which is not something you see on a menu very often. It was delicate and decadent! Others orders in my group included the short ribs and the NY pepper steak and they were not disappointed as well. Overall I found the place to be very hip and cool with excellent food. I would love to come here again!

Mediocre at best. We went there for Thanksgiving and they had a special menu, which I was disappointed. I was hoping to be able to choose from their menu. Upon receiving the menu, I was glad they had a decent selection of for the entrée — prime rib, turkey, filet mignon or a veggie terrine. You get a starter, main, a plate with all the sides, and dessert for $ 45/person. Sounds okay right? Well, as we were waiting for our table, an elderly woman said to someone she dined with, «This place isn’t very good. The turkey was dry.» That should have been my cue to leave. Not only that, I called to try to make reservation and the woman who picked up said they weren’t taking any more reservation but if I come now, they’ll seat me in the room. What is the difference??? Not only that but a check on my OpenTable app reveals three different reservation times. So I can’t make a reservation on the phone but I can make one through OpenTable… Isn’t this idiotic? But I digress… On to the food. Our server recommended the chestnut soup and described it as creamy. This soup was anything but creamy. It’s tart and upset our stomachs. My husband had the filet mignon for a $ 15 up charge. Nothing wrong with filet mignon but not my favorite cut but was cooked as requested at medium rare. My prime rib was overdone at medium rare(more like medium well) and saddest slice I’ve ever seen. It was cut crookedly and so thin. The Au jus lacked flavor and depth. I’ve had better prime rib in buffets. The sides — meh. Nothing was good except the brussel sprouts. The desserts? We had pumpkin pie and butter pecan ice cream, which were meh as well. By the time the ice cream came to me, it was half melted. In addition to the idiotic reservation process and the mediocre food, there was a medical emergency where someone choked on their food and paramedics had to come. I get that business should continue business as usual but the bartenders did not respond at all when the customer asked them to call 911. They did absolutely nothing. The client or another customer called through her cell phone. How horrible is this? For the sake of your customers, please plan out an emergency response!!! Never to return.

I resent being a guinea pig while a restaurant sorts their shit out and I resent the time I spent at Mr. Lyons. First off, the remodel. I only went to Lyons once but I remember it being dark and cozy. The dining room at Mr. Lyons is a brightly lit mish-mosh. It feels like you are dining in a convention room at a hotel where they quickly dropped in some booths and called it a restaurant. I’m pretty sure the white textured walls are not original and this design element doesn’t work… here. The room would be better all wood paneled. It feels cold, disjointed and odd. The bar feels wrong, as well. I also hate the cheap curtains dividing the room from the foyer. On to the food. Our wedges came out and they were warm! I have never had a warm wedge before. The dressing was so mild, I barely tasted anything. Bland dressing on warm lettuce is not good. Really not good. The mac & cheese was inedible. They use the blandest cheeses I have ever tasted and the texture of the breadcrumbs on top was totally off-putting. The Frito Misto was just a bowl full of fried lemon rinds and capers with a few tiny artichokes thrown in. There are no words. The vegetable Wellington and the Brussels were the only decent things. I don’t use this word often, but this meal was, well, gross. $ 110(and no meat) later, we got the hell out of there, probably never to return.

I dined here on a Friday evening, May 162015 just recently after the reopening. I had not dined here(under the prior owners) in at least 8 years. The remodel and revival only this restaurant is truly delightful. Reborn as «Mr Lyons» the new owners have breathed new life into a previously old and tired establishment. The lounge is nice – still a bit dark but enjoyable. The dining room is elegant and pleasant. Plenty of servers working here-I counted 15 at different points during my dinner. Service was good – the staff are well trained for sure. They are still working out their timing and coordination but all seem good. I had to refill my wine on my own most of the night but that was ok. Food was quite tasty. I had the whole leaf Cesar salad. beef Wellington and sides of asparagus and the Mac and cheese. We had a bottle of mid priced wine. The meal was very delicious. We also had Two desserts, cheesecake and sticky toffee. The desserts were not very good, I wish I Had skipped them to be honest. Also had two cocktails before dinner. Total bill for two people was $ 320 which I felt was a bit high. Enjoyable evening but given the price I would probably go to Bernie’s or Melvyn’s for value. However I will definitely come back. Very nicely done and enjoyable old school ambiance. I wore a blazer and nice trousers – glad I did, as the crowd was nicely dressed. Like most places in Palm Springs you can be casual but some places, like Mr Lyon’s it is nice to honor the traditions and take it up a notch and dress up. It feels good to be dressed for dinner and Mr Lyons is a place you can do that.

I really looked forward to Mr Lyons, the refurbishing of a Palm Springs Icon. They have done an outstanding job with the face lift! The cream lime colored booths are very inviting and the lighting is mellow but adequate, and so tastefully done. The staff including owners of the whole group that has Cheeky’s and Birba introduced themselves to us. What fun and dedicated down home folks. The menu is a little retro, with dishes like Sole Meuniere and Fritto Misto, Lots of Steaks and Prime Rib and features local so cal meats from sustainable farms and produce such as the corn in the«Indio creamed corn» that was fantastic.(The sauce is made apparently from simmering some of the cob and even the husk.) I had the New York Pepper Steak and asked for lots of pepper. It didn’t have much so either there was a mix up in communication or I am just old school and love lots and lots of cracked pepper on mine. Good peppercorn sauce. The Whole Leaf Caesar was really nice, a great home made Caesar dressing tossing the leaves of a Romaine heart and placing them nicely back together again. Loved the one giant croûton also to go with it. The French Onion soup was good a very rich oniony beefy broth except too much bread topping in it for my taste. I so like having this steak house so close to where we live, and to be able to send our customers there. This is going to be a real winner. The service was great and attentive. Patrick was an excellent server. The wine list very adequate and apparently put together by one of the team that was involved with Bouchon a Thomas Kellar restaurant near the French Laundry in Napa.
