Downtown Brew

Place sucks. Food not good. Drinks way to strong. Bartender don’t know how to make drinks.

Did not want to be amongst the haters on this one, but I really have to. We were here to watch a playoff basketball game, as were the majority of the crowd.
The service was incredibly slow. As in, I will fill my own water up rather than wait, slow. The staff kept threatening to put on a UFC fight, which actually nearly caused a riot amongst the crowd. Talk about not understanding your customers!
I will say the food was pretty good, but not nearly good enough to make up for the service.

We came to watch the Clipper finals game. Nothing special. Martinis are perfect. Hubby had some brews. They gave him some samples. The spinach dip is out of this world. We really enjoyed.

Considering all of the bad reviews on this place, this was a lot better than I expected. I ordered the 805 Mac n Cheese and it was delicious. I don’t really know why this place has all the one star reviews. Some people claim that the service was bad and the food was undercooked but I thought the service was great and the food was cooked thoroughly. If you are looking for a tasty lunch in Paso Robles. This is definitely one of the places to consider.

Don’t order the brussel sprouts. They’re addictive.

The waitress told us that happy hour ended at 6:30. As we walked out we noticed a sign that said «Thursday happy hour all day». We went back and waited 45 minutes for a martini (I wish I was exaggerating) that we had to return because the olives were expired. The server presented 2 appetizers, one of which we ordered, and the other was something different than what we ordered. On my last bite I had to pull a small, black curly hair from my mouth. Was it because I complained about the spoiled olives? Or the wrong appetizer? I will never return. :-(

As I am writing this I am trying to remind myself that it is just a bar that happens to have food… With that being said…
Overall the service was good
But the food…
First we order chips and salsa… The salsa had a very long thick hair in it… Which is disgusting but I wasn’t going to complain, I just didn’t eat any more of it.
I was in the mood for some chicken strips and fries, but noticed it was 13 dollars so I assumed it would be a big portion… The waitress informed us that you get three strips. TOTAL RIP OFF!
Our order comes to the table and one of the chicken strips is super small so without us asking the waitress says that she will have them cook us an extra strip… About five minutes later the strip comes to the table and I tear it open and it is COMPLETELY RAW!!! Not even a little bit, it is completely raw… As of then we stopped eating. We let the waitress know and she just had them cook it some more. We didn’t eat it!
We still got charged for it… But that’s not the point
That night my boyfriend and I went home and both got sick… UNACCEPTABLE!

I did not want to eat here due to bad service in the past. But I figured new management new menu. Let’s give it a shot. I was impressed. Especially with the kids menu. It was $ 4.50 included a drink and my daughters burger was no smaller than mine. Huge! Our food was great. I had no complaints and the beer selection was nice. I had a catch 23 dark rye IPA. Yummy an I only needed 1. I will defiantly be back. It is loud on Sundays due to football but that’s ok with me.

I came here with a group of 15 girls. We had a reservation, but they didn’t have any of the tables ready. Other than a small delay, we were seated quickly and met with great service. There was one waitress who served all of us in a timely fashion — she was definitely impressive.
We ordered drinks upon drinks… I stuck with an 805 Firestone (because you really can never go wrong with that!) I ordered the Mediterranean salad which was great & our table had good chips & guac to start. Food is good, & if I lived in the area, I probably would come by for a drink or two with some friends on a random Tuesday.

Why is it that you hide 4 and 5 star reviews but choose to post the worst reviews? Is it really a filtering system, or is it a fact that a business has to pay to get you to allow all reviews to stand? What’s the harm in letting the good things post? The truth needs to be told about Unilocal!!! I love DTB… hide that!

What happened to DTB!!! We went in Friday night and it was DEAD. Could it be because the whole establishment smelled of vomit? The fact that the mixed drinks were not tasty? I am not sure. The DJ was good, and it was a shame it was completely empty. It would be great if they could do a little sprucing up, cleaning, and maybe some incentives to bring in a crowd. If you are dead on a Friday at 11PM… you need to change something.

Where do I begin on what a nightmare of an experience we had. We asked a local business about this restaurant and although they tried to be nice about it we should have taken the hint they were giving when trying to tell us there are better places to try. We wanted something casual and fun and thought this would be a great spot.
We arrived there around 8:30/9pm on a Saturday night. Besides one «regular» at the bar it was a ghost town. Why we decided to still go sit down I’m not sure.
After waiting 5 – 8 minutes a waitress came by and brought us some menus and asked for a drink order. Cocktails were awful.
We ordered quickly after… My friend and I ordered a cheeseburger to share and she ordered a side salad. Our husbands ordered the tritip sandwich and the nachos.
Nachos came out so cold the cheese was hard as if it had sat there for 15 min before being brought out and the tritip sandwich was fatty, chewy, and just pathetic for a tritip sandwich. Salad came out with dinner and was huge — not a side salad which we later see we were charged $ 10 for a full size salad. She said she would check on our burger. 5 minutes later she comes back. «Oh I guess I forgot to type in the burger, they will make it now.» After another 10 minutes or so passes our burger shows up. The bacon on it was 80% fatty greasy bacon and the burger was nothing I ever had before. I took two bites and was done. Worst burger I ever had.
Our $ 85 bill (!!!) showed up and we maybe ate 15% of our food. We never got apologies for our burger not being ready and when bringing up the fact that we asked for a side salad she said «Oh but Caesar dressing isn’t included in the side salad price.» Wouldn’t you say that when she ordered it? Not assume she wants the full size chicken Caesar salad? Just a thought.
Everything from start to finish was just bad… I don’t remember a time I had such a bad dinner experience.

Was very happy with the 805 blueberry!!! The bartender was very nice and helpful and kept the beer flowing! She had some great recommendations! Daily specials! Today monday is $ 2 taco day!!! I rode my bike here and will be back! The place is clean and upstairs with a nice park view! Highly recommend!!!

A decent spot to grab lunch. Our party of six appeared to be the only table ordering food as it was late for lunch, about 2:00. You would have thought that the food would arrive quickly w/​a nearly empty dining room, but no, we had quite a long wait. Our server apologized as they were breaking in a new cook. Four of us had burgers which were served on ciabatta rolls w/​your choice of fries (regular or sweet potato), salad or slaw. Two of us ordered salads which were generous is size. Chicken a bit dry on the salad, but overall the food was good. Now if they can just rev up the speed of service, they’d be in good shape.

Sorry but I suppose people come for the Beer not the FOOD. I’m not a beer drinker so I can’t comment on the beer. Just food wise. No not worth it. Chicken nachos were disgusting, more like chips topped with cheese and thrown in the microwave. Not a Food place, cheap food at good food prices :(.

The only high point to this place is that they have a lot of Firestone on tap and it’s under $ 5 a pint. Otherwise, it’s a placing that calls itself «Downtown Brewing» that doesn’t actually brew anything, and isn’t a pub at all, just a generic chain sports bar with big screen TVs and listless staff. What a let down. On a spring break Saturday evening they were nearly dead, but service was still slow, and server took our coffee order only to come back to tell us they had no coffee, seriously? We overheard another table being told that the item they wanted wasn’t available, obviously they need to get their supplies in order.
$ 13 for 9 wings that were soggy and mostly fat, and the presentation was supposed to be artistic but ended up being a huge lump of ugly brown. Good sauce flavor, but utterly terrible execution. If that’s your style, enjoy.
We came because Pappy McGregor’s was closed for a private party. They’re far superior in every way, and I’d never set foot in here again.

Not a bad spot for late night get to together with co-​workers or friends. I do not drink, but the food is good. The burger, nachos, wings, and burrito are all fantastic!!! My buddies and I would come in for the wing and taco specials and we would eat a lot for a great price!!! And in front of the TV on couches watching some good old football!!!
My buddies love the beer, but I love the food!!! Great service, priced well, and good food. I even left my credit card there one time and the owner locked in up in a safe for me and gave it back to me with no problem. So, excellent service!!!

Had seen this place a few times and wanted to give it a try. Why didn’t I check Unilocal first??!
I will start off with the positives. Our beers were cold and our table was clean.
I ordered a French Dip. It arrived in an appropriate time and was warm. First bite I noticed it was tri-​tip and very rare. Since they also had a tri-​tip sandwich I asked if it was a French dip and the waiter said it was. The beef was cut way too thick and was very fatty. I could not chew through it and each bite pulled out a giant hunk of tri-​tip. Taste was not bad, but sandwich was a waste as I did not have a steak knife to cut the meat into edible bites. French fries were OK. They never brought my Ranch I requested. My associate had a chicken burrito that he said had no flavor. Food quality was a complete failure.
Service, or lack there of… Half way though dinner we finished our beers. There was only a couple tables there, but the staff was busy chatting at the bar. We could not get their attention to get another round. They finally asked if we wanted more beer when we asked for our check.
We went down the street to have another beer.
I will not suffer through another experience there. Hope this saves someone from repeating my mistake.

We popped into town to see if we could find the best Wings… However we popped into McKlintocks to take a look around. The place was pretty nice inside but staff was slow at the bar to give us other ideas for eating. so we split.
Talking to a couple guys outside we asked about Wings. they made no hesitation and stated Downtown Brew…
We went. we saw. we ate… Wings were very good. Dont be fooled. This is the Only place with really good wings…
