I love the food and ambiance here. The Rubin is the best around! The happy hour with bag pipes… Amazing! A must visit!

Hands down one of the best happy hours anywhere in the world. I have been at least a dozen times and I am never disappointed. Open to the public dress is causal and the communal seating is a great equalizer of the rich and the everyday people. Don’t be shy about sharing a bench with other patrons. Service is excellent and surprisingly the generous drinks are very reasonable. They also serve little complimentary snack bowls of pretzels and nuts as well as a bar menu with standard offerings again very reasonable prices. All seating is cozied up around a warm fire pit and the view of the green and ocean are spectacular. If it’s a extra cold ask your waitress for a lap blanket to wrap around you shoulders or to cover your legs. Go even if it’s cold and foggy! You will often see wild deer grazing a short distance from you seat. Best of all everyday at 530 a kilt wearing bag piper arises up like magic from the green and serenades to the crowd. It is beautiful and haunting and an experience you will never forget. The bag piper ends the recital right on the deck in front of the bar and is often joined by a second bagpiper to finish the set with Amazing Grace. If you are in the mood stay for dinner at the wonderful Roy’s which is also very reasonably priced considering this is a world class resort with a spectacular view from every table. Try the lobster sushi roll it is succulent and delicious and only about $ 20. If you want to really splurge try Pepolis where we dropped an easy $ 750 on a dinner for seven one time but it was so worth ever cent we spent. Skip the valet parking as the lot is close by and there’s always plenty of parking available.

Great ambience and around sunset time it is beautiful. Mixed crowd but mostly filled with an older audience.

I’ve been coming here for years as a Monterey native! Last week decided to meet a couple friends after work. We were able to catch the tail end of the bag piper(which is pretty awesome I must add) and grab some ice cold martinis by the fire pits. We also shared the spinach artichoke dip and ahi poke. Both which were delicious. The dip was baked and right of the oven and served with a cracker and bread assortment. They ask you to be patient for 15 mins for it to get fired up, and trust me it’s worth it. The poke was fresh and had great flavor served with crispy wonton chips. With one of the best views in town? It doesn’t get much better. Love this spot. However, on my last visit it was unfortunate that it took our server ages to out how to split the check properly. This is simply lack of training though. Followed by an automatic gratuity she failed to mention as we signed our checks in the dark. Not proper etiquette. And to 4 people? Ya I don’t think so. Definitely will keep coming back here, it was just sort of a weird service experience at the very end!

What not to love about anything at Pebble Beach Resorts, The Spanish Bay Patio Bar offers a breathtaking view, outdoor fireplace, and sunshine, good wine by the glass menu and quick by from Roy’s kitchen, what else do you want? Oh and great service!

Pleasant, peaceful, and delicious! The sun sets and rises everywhere in the world. However, the crisp waves and glistening sun(even when it peaks through dove grey colored skies in blossoms of clouds) is ever a welcome joy. It’s wonderful to listen to bagpipes by the sea. Wonderful company. And Pacific Ocean lullabies. Enjoy Roy’s best with a smile. Irresistible is the sound of your vacation, «ahhhhhh.»

If you want to catch the bag pipers– CALL the day you want to go to find out the time! We arrived a full hour before sunset and had just missed it :(. However, the setting and view were so spectacular that it simply didn’t matter. Beautiful. Full stop. p. s. I’m rating this venue as «pricey» because you have to pay to get onto 17-mile Drive. But note that if you spend over $ 30 at the Bar, they deduct your entrance fee!

Great place for an evening cocktail! I had one of the more extravagant bloody marys I’ve tried here and some pretty decent appetizers(the artichoke dip was pretty tasty). The view is lovely, as are the fire pits. They even supply blankets! I’m knocking off a star for the clientele. A little bougie, but it’s a golf course, so I guess it’s to be expected. Don’t be afraid to roll in for a drink in your non-country club attire, though; the waitstaff were pretty nice despite our relatively sloppy appearance.

Great hummus, sushi and views that can’t be beat! Go at sunset and you can watch the bag pipers bring in the last golfers
I’d like to say that I was very excited to dine here during our honeymoon. I was really looking forward the the experience but once we arrived I realized this was not the place for us. We walked in and stood at the entrance for a little while before flagging down a server. I asked if we could get a table or if it was self seating; she gave me a dirty look and said«no, get your own table». Alright then… We walked around, nothing was available so we took a stroll on the pathway on the golf course. The husband and I discussed what we should do when I discovered Roy’s was right next door. We ate at Roy’s, had a delish meal and had the same exact view if not better, that we would of had at the Patio Bar. If you don’t walk in smelling like cash; you will get treated poorly.

One of my favorite spot to go out and have a drink and smoke a cigar and enjoy that beautiful view, they also have the fire pits in case its a cold day which is very often in this area.

How can it get better than this?! Sitting by a fire pit while the sun is setting and a Scottish looking man is playing the bag pipes for you and your beloved friends and/or family, next thing I know we are being served the best wine I have ever tasted(wish I can remember the name) all my senses were being stimulated taste, touch(warm fire), sight(the beauty of the ocean)= Well most of the senses that matter. The appetizers: calamari is what we had and it was out of this world with flavor and depth of taste. Not the typical calamari appetizer. And you can let the kidos play on the beach :-)

I really enjoy being able to sit outside, have a cocktail/glass of wine, a cheese board & look at the ocean and green scenery that surrounds me. The Spanish Bay Patio Bar is fantastic because all of these are wrapped up into 1! There are several firepits outside with different kinds of seating and several spots to accommodate groups, large or small. We sat at one of the firepits, turned it up nice and high and enjoyed the warmth since the wind kicked in a little bit. Our waitress Kristin was very nice, accommodating and prompt with every request we had. The wine we enjoyed was decently priced per glass, the cheese board was delightful with an array of cheeses, jam and bread/crackers to compliment. The Patio Bar offers an array of other selections as well to fulfill anyone’s style or pallet. This is a perfect spot to enjoy conversation with friends or family and relax. I would definitely return here in the future and excited for that day!

In a word: Magical. Came here a couple weeks ago for drinks at Sunset and to listen to the famous bagpiper play while walking the holes along the ocean. We got here around 5, and for November, it was pretty crowded. The bagpiper starts playing/walking around 5:30/5:45, so I’d recommend getting there early, especially during the peak busy season(Spring and Summer). There are beautiful outdoor firepits and cozy chairs, and you’re sitting with a gorgeous spanning view of one of the best golf courses in the world, listening to the ocean at sunset, and drinking a beverage of your choosing. What could be better?!? Note: Don’t be put off by all the $$$$ on Unilocal. My glass of wine was around $ 10, and amazing(and strong) cocktails are around $ 11-$ 12. Definitely on par with the«norm» in San Francisco, so we weren’t put off by the prices. Power move would be to watch the sun go down with a few drinks, and then drive the rest of the 17 mile drive into Carmel for dinner. I’ll be back soon!

If not for just the experience, the drinks are superb(a tad overpriced, yes) and the fire pit was warm. Alongside the cozy bottom of my wife, life had been reduced to the simplest inner joy and peace. Scotch for me and an Old Fashioned for my honey. the fog rolled in just before sunset, and then… Ah, ye olde bagpiper. Come and wrest me from the travails of the links. Bring mine heart to thy breast and warm my troubled soul with thou deepest notes. Slant e’.

Uncomprising views of the Pacific and world-class Spanish Bay Golf Course, where many illustrious golfers come to test their skills. Every seat on the sweeping patio affords admirers a compelling view of the most majestic natural beauty on the Peninsula. When we walked out onto the patio, I was awe-struck with all the abounding beauty and serenity. Yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day, with temperatures hovering around the high-60’s for mid-December. For those chillier days, fleece blankets are available upon request and large fire-pits are at the ready. My review weighs heavily on the views and location. The drinks are a bit pricey; general prices falls somewhere in the $ 9 — 16 range for wine and the $ 12 — 16 range for cocktails. They are good-sized and are mighty strong with a harmonious confluence of liquor mixtures. The drink menu is extensive with creative elixirs, coffee drinks and local and imported wine. The food menu is small but eclectic and very tasty. We sampled the Spanish Bay Half-Pound Cheeseburger, the Artichoke & Spinach Dip and a sushi roll(I forgot the name, sorry). The Cheeseburger was your typical cheeseburger with all the fixin’ and served with a nice side of fries. The sushi roll was good but not what we were expecting(with Roy’s Restaurant being next door, we thought it would be fantastic). The highlight was the Artichoke & Spinach Dip — it was warm, creamy and well-flavored(served with toast and crackers). I had to exercise some restraint to not up and lick the bowl :-) There is a nice array of food selections, including calamari, spring rolls and chicken sandwiches. This is the perfect spot to take in some great drinks and some of the most beautiful vistas imaginable.

This has got to be one of the most beautiful spots in the entire world to share a drink with friends. First off, it’s outside facing the ocean so you think you are going to freeze your ASS off right? Nope! The outside gas fire pits(eco friendly I am told) throw tons of heats, so rest assured your buns will be shivering. There is also a light food menu, so if you want something more than just a martini, you can grab yourself a club sandwich or burger and enjoy some amazing ocean views. Come just before sunset and be treated to some live bagpipe music. I do believe he may have missed a note or two, but Hell they are bagpipes! You try and do better.
