i ordered take out from here. The turkey burgers are my favorite. I work nearby and also take advantage of their morning specials. Definitively a good way to start your day when you have scrabled eggs and homemade hash browns… very delicious! The service is very fast as well

Recently wife talked me into trying this place again(after 7 year hiatus). I was pleasantly surprised by just about everything. The interior is clean, staff is friendly even if occasionally get a waitress that seems to be new. We have eaten here several times over past 4 months and the food has not disappointed. Fresh, hot, and tasty. The Burgers have delicious grilled taste and adding a second for $ 3 is a bargain. The Soups –particularly the Creamed ones are delicious. The Daily Specials have all been good — fried Fish, Clams, and Mussels are some of specials we tried and all were very good. I like that fried foods come out hot and crisp. Would have given 5 stars but couple times at lunch waitress though nice — seemed to be new or in training, that and Mashed Potatoes not being great cause slight downgrade to 4 Stars. Still you can expect a good meal, pleasant atmosphere for a reasonable price.

After many, many years of saying, «Hey look, there’s a little diner in there; we have to try it,» we finally did. While this may not be the most spectacular diner I’ve ever patronized, it’s pretty darn good! There burgers are fantastic, and I always go in intending to order one, but end up ordering one of their daily specials. There soups are among the best I’ve ever had. Portions aren’t your typical ginormous diner fare. Most of the customers seem to be regulars, and we are too, as we find ourselves in their at least once a week.

Ordered takeout from here a few times and never really had a problem. The orders were always ready within a reasonable amount of time and served with a friendly smile. Diner type atmosphere and the menu seems quite extensive. My personal favorites are the gyros(slightly small but tasty) and the philly cheese steak(served on a Kaiser roll not a wedge). Also the pastrami and Reuben sandwiches are very good. If you’re in the Beach Shopping Center and looking for a good diner-type sandwich, this place is worth a try.

Food was OK but a little on the greasy side. It’s definitely a place that has seen better days. Staff was nice but a little slow which was surprising considering the restaurant was somewhat empty. Seemed like the other people who came in were regulars and they took time to chat with them which is nice but definitely not the atmosphere that makes a first time visitor want to come back. Sort of reminded me of an old Friendly’s style of restaurant but with less options. Probably ok for someone looking for a quick bite and not very picky.

This place has been a «go-to» for breakfast for me over the years. Staff is friendly, food is cheap, and the food is actually FRESH. They often have great breakfast specials too!

Five of us came for breakfast last week and it was good. The place is clean and bright, the waitstaff were friendly and attentive and the food: hash, eggs, pancakes, sausage, toast, wrap were all good and our plates were cleaned. Only thing that was iffy was the hash. I believe the menu said homemade but my husband said it was out of a can. There ya have it.

The smell of the Indian Restaurant next door permeating the restaurant left me uncomfortable.

We tried this place today for breakfast. I ordered corn beef hash with eggs. Let me tell you the corn beef was half burnt. My eggs were fried over hard and i asked for over medium. It was dried and cold. The only things that was some what good was the toast with butter. I wont be coming back to this place ever again. I told the person at the register about my experience and she said i should of told the waitress but the waitress was no where to be found. So didnt make a big deal i just wont go back there. The place was clean.

Sorry but this place was not good at all. I give one more star just because it was clean but thats it. I ordered steak and eggs and I requested the steak to be «medium» and it came out«well done» and burnt on the edges. The eggs were fine and my potatoes descent at best but I will not be returning.

Pastels has tumbled downhill over the last five or six years, which is extremely disappointing for this once-quaint nook. The carpet yields that musty, nasty odor that only a carpet can provide(and who uses carpet in an eatery anyway??). The service, while still somewhat friendly, has become poor and slow. One meal came out in a timely manner, but another took approximately twenty minutes, which is inexcusable, being that it was simply mac ‘n’ cheese. Speaking of which, the mac ‘n’ cheese as listed on the menu, is «made with fresh cream, Colby cheese and Vermont sharp cheddar» and«topped with toasted bread crumbs.» Ha! This was elbow macaroni dumped in a bowl and microwaved to perfection so the Velveeta could burn the roof of my mouth, and all lightly covered by a few hand-sprinkled untoasted bread crumbs. Pastels has the potential to return to being a «must go to» place, but ownership needs to be willing to update the décor and remain true to what the menu tells us.

Meh. I’ve been here a few times and won’t go out of my way to eat here again. The food is alright, the service is good but a woman who has been present each time is what ruined this place for me. The first time here, she was barking orders at the waitresses – from the counter. The next time I was nickel and dimmed for everything, which is a major turn off for me. Today I went for breakfast and asked about a discrepancy on the check and the same sergeant lady was very rude. Needless to say, I won’t be returning here. Eating for me is an overall experience; food, prices(considering quality), ambiance, service, etc. and Pastels just doesn’t cut it for me.

I just ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich to go and was charged $ 5.00… Seems very overpriced for a simple one egg sandwich, I will not do that again.

Amazing food and great prices. The service is so friendly that I feel like I’m being welcomed into their own home. Always an awesome spot for breakfast and brunch, but has a wonderful selection for dinner too. Easy to locate and an overall great place. Every time I go, I can’t wait to go back.

My go to diner for breakfast! Staff is always friendly and there has never been a mistake regarding my order or billing. Food comes out quick, is delicious and the prices are just right in my opinion. I usually order the big breakfast which is an open sandwich bacon egg and cheese on top of an english muffin with homefries and hash on the side. Perfect way to start the day healthy ;]

Not gourmet, but great! Very good food, great people. No WOW factor, but reliable and great. Excellent breakfast and lunch spot. The dinner is not bad, but its kind of an older scene for dinner since they close the doors at 8 and are frequently out of desserts by that time of night anyway. Again, highly recommended!

I eat here at least one a week, sitting at the counter, just like in the good olé days when diners reigned across America. The staff knows everyone and everyone knows the staff and each other, creating a very comfortable spot for breakfast. Food is AOK, with nothing put of the ordinary, but you can get a good omelette, crisp bacon(even turkey bacon), fresh veggies, and know it will be cooked and served how you like it — with a smile. Consistently good… Sure beats the New City Diner up the road
