I am really happy Sergio’s opened in Pines. I grew up going to their Coral Way and Bird Rd locations and it’s been great watching them expand over the years. In the short time it’s been open, it’s become my go-to spot for breakfast. The food is consistently good and satisfies my Cuban breakfast cravings. The staff is very friendly and I love the fact that I finally have a window to stop by for Cuban coffee and a croqueta. The breakfast is amazing, but I went once for dinner and it still needs a little work. The pollo a la plancha was a little dry and it was SMALL compared to other Cuban restaurants.

A wonderful surprise! We visited Sergio’s for the first time and were very impressed with the ambiance, the service, and the food! This location was previously the Macaroni Grill, and Sergio’s completely renovated the spacious interior into the most beautiful Cuban restaurant that I have ever been in. The manager visited the table a couple of times and was very welcoming(even gave us full value on an expired Groupon). The server was very attentive and helpful, offering spot-on recommendations on the menu. The lunch specials we ordered based on his suggestions(chicken strips and Lechon Assado) were delicious and represented an excellent value with the two side dishes(try the cauliflower rice — very nice!). I’m glad to have a first-class option for one of the best local cuisines in South Florida — Cuban Cuisine! Bienvenido Sergio’s! Hasta luego Las Vegas e Romeu’s!

Tried this restaurant for the first time. The server was not at the top of her game. Ordered a Pan con Bistec. It was cold and extremely tough. The French fries are the coated kind and they were cold and greasy. The restaurant was not busy at 7 pm. I can see why. There is no value here. Overpriced and poor quality. La Carretta is much better. It does not deserve one star but I had to in order to post.

We ate lunch & started with Frituras de Malanga,(Malanga Fritters with Cilantro Sauce Delicious). fallow with 2 Soup of the Day; Platano(Green Plantain soup with small beef chunks, GOOD) Wife had Picadillo Flat Bread Lunch Special,(ground beef with black bean hummus, white rice, sweet plantains &1 sunny-side up egg Terrific Combination) I had La Flaca Grill Mahi-Mahi Entrée,(Grill Mahi-Mahi with Pico de Galloo &2 sides; Caesar Salad & Potato Salad). The service was Fantastic, the taste, temperature of the food and presentation was Awesome. Next time I will try their Cuban Sandwich to see if they really are as good as they Declare. They will be in Tampa on March 2016 on a Contest to see who makes the best Cuban Sandwich competing against 29 other Restaurants/Chef.

If you are vegetarian, dont worry, Sergio’s got you! I was a bit worried that a Cuban restaurant wasn’t going to have something that I was able to eat, but to my surprise they do. They have a veggie pizza/flat bread. I ended up just ordering a whole bunch of side. I got a small Caesar salad with a side of rice and beans(which were so delicious, traditional Cuban rice and beans) and French fries(sooo yummy! My fave) My friend got Pan con Lechón, which she loved and was only able to eat half of the sandwich, because it was super huge. My mom’s friend got tilapia, which she absolutely died over. Everything was very good, and service as well was very good. P.S you get a complimentary starter of Cuban bread with butter

Last night was my first visit to this new Sergio’s location in Pines and wow, what a huge upgrade when compared to the original one in Miami. First off, the décor and the ambiance were amazing and much nicer than I expected… I was tempted to ask them where they bought their décor from, lol. Very nice lighting and an ample amount of comfortable seating– perfect for big families! As for the food, I’ll break it down for ya: For appetizers, we had — «The Trio» which was 3 large tostones, one topped with shrimp, one with shredded pork, and one with beef. all topped with avocado and pico de gallo. I give this a 4.5÷5 it’s a total must try! It’s deliciously messy and totally shareable. — «Frita Sliders» two mini fritas topped with crispy shoestring potatoes and ketchup. If I could give this a 10⁄5 I would because they’re DELICIOUS. For my future visit, I just want fritas lol… I’ve had several fritas in my life and this has been the best, hands down. For entrees: — I had the«Lechon Asado», pulled pork with grilled onions on the top. For my sides I chose the cauliflower rice and black beans. The pork was cooked exactly how I like it(5⁄5) but I was really disappointed by my sides… I didn’t exactly know what to expect from the cauliflower rice but it just tasted over-seasoned but bland at the same time(didn’t know that was possible). I am Cuban so I’m VERY picky about black beans… these did nothing for me so I left my entire bowl practically untouched. — My date had the«Chimi-Chicken» which was a deliciously grilled chicken breast with chimichurri sauce on top… I had a piece and it was charred perfectly. 5⁄5. He also had the black beans, white rice, and maduros/he loved it. For dessert we had the Tres Leches and oh man… totally reminded me why tres leches is my favorite dessert of all time! This one tasted better than others I’ve tried… I don’t even have to tell you it’s rating. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I’d totally go back for some fritas and tres leches! Lol. Tip: They should have live music! Or any music(I didn’t hear any playing)

1. Table wasn’t complete clean. 2. Food served on greasy to the touch, plates. 3. Black beans tasted like led. 4. Had to call manager and let him know about the beans and then asked to compensate me for some of the additional food I had bought to take home. 5. Waitress wasn’t too eager to help, in her own world. 6. Wouldn’t go back to this location. 7. Locations in Kendall and 40th St. are wonderful and in many years have never been disappointed. 8. Pembroke Pines should learn from those 2 restaurants. 9. Well decorated, but I went to dine, not to view their décor.

Been wanting to try this place out since the day it opened but it’s hard pressed to get my husband on board. So finally, one Saturday after shopping for home, I convinced him to dine here. We didn’t order anything fancy. My daughter went with her usual chicken fingers and fries, I ordered blackened fish and my hubby ordered pollo a la plancha. The waitress was sweet and made suggestions and the food came out pretty fast. My food was fine. No complaints there. It wasn’t fantastic or memorable though… just fine and definitely edible. My daughter didn’t seem to enjoy her food but she’s a kid so I wouldn’t judge them by that. My husband said his food lacked flavor and was completely tasteless. Now for the real kicker. I ordered a glass of my favorite Chardonnay. I know what it tastes like, I know what it smells like, and I know what it looks like. When the wine came out, I thought it looked a bit too yellow but I didn’t say anything. As soon as I lifted the glass and swirled it a bit, it didn’t smell anything like Kendall Jackson. When I tasted, I was absolutely positively SURE that it WASNOTKENDALLJACKSON. I would have preferred they told me they were out of my KJ and offered something else but instead they tried to push off a much cheaper Chardonnay version… probably Sutter Home, as KJ. Soooo I asked, «Are you out of Kendall Jackson?» She went to the bar and then came back and assured me that I was drinking KJ except I KNEW I wasn’t. I told her not to worry and that I would drink it but a few minutes later, the manager arrived at our table and asked about the wine. I told him what I’d told the waitress… that I know my KJ. He said that maybe the wine was old, said something about it being 5 days open and that KJ was their top seller and offered to open a new bottle. At this point, I feel like they should have just admitted that it wasn’t KJ instead of all the excuses. I declined another glass and drank the tart, bitter-back-of-the-throat, wine they gave me. I have a huge issue with people who think they’ve just pulled a fast one on me which is the reason I mentioned the wine to them in the first place. Its a bad feeling to think you’re being laughed at as a customer. It’s happened to me before at another restaurant but they admitted fault and told me they were out of KJ but that they gave me the comparable Chardonnay. It makes me angry to think I just paid $ 10 for a glass of $ 3 buck chuck! Just tell me you don’t have any and let me choose another instead! Ok… lol…I’m done being a diva. Otherwise, the service was decent but I likely won’t return.

Im going to give the restaurant 3 stars because the place is beautiful and the service very good. My parcha(passion fruit) mojito was excellent. However the food needs more attention. The la flaca dinner with mahi mani was dry and cold and the cauliflower rice was also dry and bitter. I sent it back for a chicken steak and the chicken was better but the cauliflower rice not so much. I boxed it and and took it home because by the time in came in my family was done eating. They ordered the chocolate brownie and ice-cream on top which was very good but the ice cream was refrozen and icy. My son ordered a croqueta prepared sandwich and he loved it, but no fries with it? Doesnt seem like a full meal for the price. Im very sorry to post this but I want you to succeed because the place and service are very nice… :)

Its my last day in Miami and I decided to try some Cuban food for the first time. For apetizers, we ordered Frituritas de Malanga, it was delicious and deep fried. For entrée, I got the Bistec de Pollo a la Plancha(chicken with onions on top) and I got Yuca(delicious) and black beans as a side. I loved the Yuca and it was mixed with onions, I was wondering if it would taste better with sugar and gives it even a sweeter taste. I was suprirsed to find pork in the black beans since I dont eat pork, but I was still satisfied with the overall quality of the food. The place is very nice and elegant from the inside and has a cosy outdoor too. The food service could have been a little bit faster though. As my first experience at a Cuban restaurent, I am satisfied.

This place has a nice ambience but overly priced for the quality of food. I ordered breaded steak and they gave me, steak with ham and cheese on top of it. To make matters worse, you get to pick 2 sides that come with the food, but they charge you for the sides as extras. So in reality, you don’t get 2 sides with your meal. At no time did the waitress tell me that there’ll be a charge for the sides. I will not be going back and will encourage my family and friends to not go as well. Karen

Was so excited to try this place after driving past it several times. I came here on a weeknight and upon entering with my boyfriend I was so surprised to see how packed it was. The first thought I had was«Wow this place is defiantly good if it’s this packed on a weeknight», ha WRONG. This establishment used to be Marconi Grill(which is an Italian Restaurant) now it is a Cuban restaurant just with a different sign outside. Not much has changed on the inside, the layout of the tables are a bit unorganized bumping into several tables and chairs on the way to our booth. A nice big table next to us could not be used because water kept dripping on it from the ceiling and they permanently left a cloth there just to wipe the puddle every time a server would walk by. The hostess was our waiter showing the lack of staff. We ordered mariquitas(because that’s what you do at a Cuban restaurant) and they were stale as if they had them in the kitchen sitting there for a while so we asked the waiter for some fresh ones, no difference he notice we didn’t make a dent on the second one so he laughed and said«still no good?» we said«no» so he promised us a new basket, but still stale dry and hard so after 3 tries, yes we gave up. As far as the entrees, the food was simply missing salt… and flavor. The only reason my boyfriend ate half of his pork was because he smothered them in the left over mojo sauce from the mariquitas we did not eat, at that point his pork chunks was simply descent, at best. My entrée was better than his but still nothing grand. If looking for good Cuban food skip this place not satisfied at all. Oh! and the one and only cool thing about this place(which is why they got 2 stars instead of one) is the beeper picture I uploaded to this review. We pressed the number 1 for service like 8 times to see if it worked … no one came. So then we pressed the number 3 for manager didn’t work… until we pressed it 3 times then he came. That was pretty cool, but if you come to a restaurant to eat good food and not have fun with a beeper, you might want to reconsider this place.

I used to go to the Coral Gables location all the time! Was so excited to find it moved to Pines with me! Classic Cuban food might seem to be everywhere but Sergio’s does it right! The pallomia steak is always a great option but I tend to stop in for lunch to have the Sergio salad, it is a spring mix with blue cheese, walnuts, red onions, and dried cranberries. I always add chicken. They also have«la flaca» menu which great for those watching their figures but still looking for flavor! And one of the main reasons I go — the dessert! I love love love the dessert, the fudge guayaba brownie with ice cream. It is out of this world, some may even say a religious experience it’s so good. If you love guava, pastelitos or brownies order it and thank me later!

I’ve always loved Sergio’s so it’s no surprise that I was ecstatic to hear they were opening a location in Pembroke Pines! Not only do they have the characteristically intriguing interior design, but also all the delicious food you’re familiar with from previous locations. Whether it’s breakfast you’re craving, lunch or dinner — this is your new spot! Now, although I love to stop here and grab a bite, you will more often find me at the bar on my day off or getting some drinks with my girls. They will all agree that this is fabulous place to relax. The drinks are unique to each location(try the blueberry basil martini or smoked rum), the décor is lovely and intimate and these bartenders are some of the most knowledgeable I’ve met. My favorite is Danny, the one with those blue eyes. He can recommend and serve the perfect drink for you! Whew, now I’m in the mood to pay them a visit. It’s after 10pm so that means second happy hour ;) Cheers!

So glad there’s another option for good Cuban in western broward county. Sergio’s was delicious. Started with a pitcher of the blackberry sangria that was very good I had the medianoche sandwich that was perfectly done with ham pork pickles Swiss cheese on sweet Cuban bread and a side of potato salad. Also a cup of chicken soup with big pieces of chicken. Yum! Hubby had the lechon asado with tostones. Very good also. Had nice pieces of chicharron(crispy fried pork fat). Plates were cleaned off completely. They have a «skinny» menu too. Didn’t bother with that. Not the place for salads– yeah you’re going to savor Cuban food! We were sat down immediately and our server was right there ready to get us drinks. The server was Angel and I hope when we go back — cause we will– that Angel will be working. He was attentive funny and kept our sangria glasses filled. Spoke perfect English and Spanish. The restaurant can be a little loud — we’re latins, what do you expect. Don’t come here for a quiet romantic meal. Come here for really delicious Cuban food in a fun environment. Going back for more!

Im surprised by the negative reviews. Being puertorican Im familiar with cuban food. We came here for lunch and our experience was really good. We had the plantain trio for appetizer and it was refreshing as we have never had something like it. For the main dish I had the lechon asado(lunch portion) with rice and beans and maduros. The pork was flavorful without being salty and the rice, beans and maduros were good too. We did not love the sangria as we prefer to taste fruit flavors. Overall, service was great, nice decoration, food tasted delicious and prices are very reasonable.

I was excited to see Sergio’s opening up in Pembroke Pines and was excited to try it! I went with my family to Sergio’s on a Friday(around 7 pm) and they were poppin. Our waiter was very attentive and funny. They did have these pagers on the table with three buttons when you needed service. We tried to call our waiter using the pager and literally 10 seconds later he was at our table, I love this feature. We ordered the trio that comes with tostones and meat on top as an appetizer. I wasn’t a fan of the pork toston but the ground beef one was good. As an entrée, I ordered the ropa vieja with white rice, black beans and maduros(a Hispanic favorite). The beans were really good and the meat was oh so juicy. My boyfriend had a burger and the fries for the burger were soooo good but be warned, they are super addicting. I ended up eating more of his plate than he did. I definitely see myself coming back to this Sergio’s. I had only been to the Kendall location prior to this visit but this location is way bigger and the décor is fabulous.

Curiosity killed the cat, after visiting the new Sergio’s location(where Macaroni Grill used to be) I wasn’t too impressed. Upon walking in you notice the beautifully decorated Cuban spot, when I walked up with the family the two girls behind the hostess counter didn’t even acknowledge nor greet us. From within the restaurant another lady rushed to the front and sat us down. The waitress was probably one of the best waitresses we’ve had in a long time. She was very attentive and helped explain the menu to us first timers, she gave us ample time to look over everything and brought out our waters quickly. Plantain chips(appetizer): crispy yet kinda cold plantain chips with a very oily mojito dip, after adding some salt the flavors were great but didn’t like the chips being cold when they were brought out. Croquetta Preparada(sandwich): beautifully presented but again, the bread was warm but the insides were cold… I’m use to having warm/almost too hot to eat Cuban sandwiches. Flavor wise it was a 6⁄10. Boliche(Pot roast/moms 1st meal): the meat smelled rancid, the manager came to the table and took it back to the kitchen. The waitress notified us that the entire batch was being taken off the menu. Lechon Asado(Roasted Pork/moms 2nd meal): no complaints, my mom was thrilled with the flavors and textures of the meal. Maybe it’s because they’ve been open for less than a month, but it wasn’t my best experience… It was ok. I don’t see myself making a trip here in the near future. Maybe when the reviews improve I’ll stop by.

Sergios is not just an average, run-of-the mill Cuban restaurant– it is leading the pack! As a child, my family wasn’t really a fan of this restaurant and we’d always choose more local Cuban restaurants because we live in Miami Lakes. But a few months ago, my mother brought home some vaca frita and ropa vieja empanadas that were baked to perfection and delicious! So I made it a point to come in on a date with my partner– who was already a fan. I am so glad I did! I just stopped into the newly-opened Pembroke Pines restaurant today and was so pleased with how big it was and how friendly the staff was. On a busy Saturday afternoon, Sergios was packed and we were still sat immediately. Its at the old Macaroni Grill location and so worth the 10 minute drive for us. I ordered the lechon asado with morro and yuca as my two sides. The dish cost $ 13 and was very filling and given in a great portion. No complaints whatsoever! 10’s across the board. The presentation was very impressive. Served on a plate, the lechon and yuca were given in small pots(casuelas) which was reminiscent of how the dishes were cooked when I was a kid. The details are what matters! When we were leaving, we decided to take a few of their delicious empanadas to-go so we could reheat enjoy them in the morning. I ordered two of my faves, the vaca frita and ropa vieja empanadas which I highly recommend, and there I noticed the to-go«Flaca Menu» items packaged in neat reheatable containers for people who are truly on-the-go. What a great idea! Healthy Cuban food on-the-go in reheatable containers is the most genius idea any restaurant in Miami has ever thought of. I was very impressed and turned on to the idea. All the items were very affordable(just under $ 10) and were great portions, low-calories and looked fresh. I also met the owner here, who was such a delightful woman who was very involved with her business. As this is their newest location and being in Broward, this lady clearly cared a lot about her restaurant thriving and stopped to talk to us about our experience. She informed us of their newly-adopted interest in providing something for health-conscious customers as well as her idea to take away fried empanadas and replace them with freshly baked ones with creative fillings so they appeal to everyone. This family is a stand-out in both their creative ideas as well as their involvement in the Cuban community. We will definitely be returning and highly, highly recommend ANYONE to come here. They have something here for everyone!

Well considering this just opened one week ago, I think this is a great rating from me especially since I normally don’t give reviews on a place that just opened because of my understanding of working out all the details of new staff and all. So my husband and I decided to try it out on a Tuesday evening. To our surprise the place was packed for a early week day. We were seated immediately and with a smile. The host told us about the a gadget on our table which I found to be very unique. This gadget has three buttons that allows you to call on the server, manager or just signal for the check. I thought this was a nice touch at a place that seems like it is going to be a busy. Looking around they seem to have a good teamwork going on because everyone who passed us asked us if we needed anything and were more then happy to help if we needed it. I hope this does not end and is only hyped up now that they are just opened. For starters we ordered: The Espanola tabla: 3 croquetas, manchego cheese, cantimpalo, jamon serrano and rosemary olives. This was a perfect start with a glass of Malbec. Entrees ordered: Chimi-Chicken, the portion of chicken was cooked perfect. Also ordered was the Mojo Shredded Chicken in a vaca frita style. We both did not finish our food because the portions were big. That did not stop us from ordering desert which was a no brainer when the server said they had a Fudge Guayaba brownie. Now, unlike a few of my friends(azul) and my husband I’m not much of a dessert person let alone chocolate lover. Well, truth be told I really, really, really enjoyed it and I think this is probably also why I gave it 4 stars lol. A must try for sure!!! They also serve breakfast here so we are looking forward to having it in the near future.
