The ribs needed another three hours to cook. The fat between the meat and bone had not rendered at all. You had to rip the meat off the bone and then cut the fat away, then you had to deal with tough meat. Worst ribs I have ever purchased! The potato salad had no flavor, terrible! My son said his chopped beef sandwich was good.

Not the best Que I’ve ever had but still good. Service is always on point and the beans have a lot of flavor. I usually have the sliced pork and chicken and they are consistently good.

Mediocre food. Seemed a little overpriced. There are better places. The kitchen staff does not wear gloves when handling your food when placing on your plate. We asked the waitress about it and she said that they wah their hands frequently. My meat was room temperature at best. My wife’s sandwich was also room temperature. Our son’s food was warm. This is not what we expect when we go out to eat, so we won’t be going back.

First, and last, visit here. It would have been a three initially though. I spend a lot of time in Memphis, so BBQ is a high bar to meet. However, I found the food acceptable compared to a reasonable price and fast service. The waitress was friendly, and we were in and out pretty quick. The food was nothing I’d brag about. The pulled pork was barely warmed, yet some chunks obviously rewarmed a few times. I understand pulled pork isn’t made to order, but they need a little work on that rewarming. The beans were awesome though! All in all, I’d rate it as worth stopping only if passing by, hungry, and need something fast and a fair price for what you get. It dropped to a two at checkout. With others also waiting in line I was asked«Are you leaving a tip?». Ummm, well, yes. I was then asked how much. Well, when you give me my receipt I will fill that out. I was told I need to tell them how much. Really? In all these many years I have NEVER been told I need to divulge that up front, much less in front of a line. They got their 15%, which would have been higher due to a good waitress had I simply completed it, but I did let her know I have NEVER been put on the spot to provide my tip amount like that before, and now likely wouldn’t be back. I got a very happy«Ok». So, I guess there is no problem, I now only regret leaving a tip and should have simply told her to give me my receipt like every other place on Earth or make it no tip. Crazy policy. I’ll drive right past the past in the future. Decent cost, for only decent food went right out the window with that!!!

Maybe it was a staple in pensacola once, but its time to shut the doors. The food looked and tasted like it was microwaved. Awful décor, not sure they havw renovated or even cleaned since bobby bowden retired. If you want bbq dont even walk in the door.

Best coleslaw & baked beans. My family loves grabbing for sides to have at our family gatherings. Easy to get large pint sizes to go. Fast, Easy, & Delicious. Also recommend the pulled pork. Love their signature bbq sauce! Not sure about this location, but Fairfield ’ s used to cook one of the best burgers in town.

If you want real BBQ, then keep going. Any of the reviewers calling this BBQ are off the mark on this one. I have yet to eat a BBQ place where beef was not brisket. This restaurant does not even do brisket! Their beef looks like they went to the grocery store and bought it at the Deli counter. It had no flavor at all. The service was good, but way too fast. While the food comes out fast, it is was lukewarm at best. The baked beans were good, but the baked potato was not done and I had to ask for the toppings. My husband ordered an appetizer and it came with the meal. The food is not expensive, but it is not BBQ and I won’t be going to this restaurant again. They need to seriously learn what BBQ is and how to do. Sonny’s and Dickey’s which are chains are far better and they are not the best. So spend money elsewhere, this was a very disappointing meal.

An old favorite of mine! I had the 3 item combo with ribs and pulled pork(x2). The ribs are quite delicious! Great smokey flavor, no need for sauce here! They don’t quite fall off the bone, but almost. Which I think is perfect, gives you the chance to really enjoy ribs as they should. Pulled pork is another of my favorites here. Again, no need for sauce either, juicy and flavorful. BBQ beans are wonderful and smokey with chunks of pulled pork in them. The potato salad is decent, but I’ve had better. Having lived in the south for so long, and now living in California where sweet tea is only offered at McDonald’s, this sweet tea is superb. A wonderful treat, and my cup was never in need of a refill. And she even offered me a to go cup of sweet tea! All in all a pleasant place to eat. Good food, good service!

Great BBQ at a fair price. We eat here from time to time and sometimes get stuff to go. Never been disappointed. No one makes better baked beans – no one! If I am going to eat BBQ, I am going here!!!

The meats are cooked perfect every time I have had smokeys, not a fan of their regular sauce, it’s too tangy for my tastes, I go with the sweet sauce. The bbq baked beans are great, and love the garlic bread and coleslaw.

Decent BBQ. Fast service. The meat is all prepared and served dry. Frequented by locals and lots of cops(the repeat service by them should say something about the food). Most of the meat is served thin sliced and not pulled.

It may not be perfect, but it’s real barbecue food. I’ve seen a lot of impersonators lately so I’m touchy about my barbecue and I have to say Smokeys is the best I’ve ever tasted. This is a meat and potatoes kind of place, the kind of place you eat at when you want to get full on food that will stick to your ribs. Everything’s filled with flavor and fat and happiness. I can only assume that the recent reviewers were driving into town from places that don’t offer southern food, and therefor don’t know how it’s done.

We were in town and saw this place by the road so we stopped in for dinner. I had the two meat plate with beef and ribs. The beef was sliced very thin like deli meat. Tasted okay. The ribs were good but not as tender as I thought they should be. Had a typical barbecue joint atmosphere. Overall good experience but only worthy of three stars. Nothing to write home about.

I decided to stop at Smokey’s when I spotted it on the way to have my car washed. First impressions… it LOOKS like a typical BBQ place. Lots of wood, smells nice, what appeared to be locals inside(including cops), quiet atmosphere. I seated myself and soon had a menu brought to me. I decided on a 3 meat combination plate, getting sliced beef, pulled pork and chicken, with sides consisting of a baked potato and coleslaw. My food arrived quickly. I was leery of the chicken due to my bad experience at the last BBQ place I stopped at, but it was cooked well, almost to the point over being overcooked(the leg was a little dry; thigh not quite as much but right on the edge). Flavor was okay, somewhat average. The pulled pork had a decent flavor but was almost cool by the time it arrived. As for the sliced beef, I’d never seen it sliced this way before… it was in sheets instead of strips, almost like deli roast beef from the store. Very strange. The flavor was slightly bland, and it wasn’t nearly as tender as BBQ sliced beef should be. After testing each type of meat, I checked out the«Regular» BBQ sauce, which was acceptable and definitely improved the near-tasteless beef. The potato was cooked well. The coleslaw, however, tasted like it was straight out of a package. I was disappointed but ravenous, so I finished up without voicing my complaints. The big plus was quality of service; my waitress was sweet and attentive, and very efficient. If the food was higher quality, it would have made for an excellent stop. As it was, I can’t recommend it for a BBQ enthusiast. Final word: Meh.

Out of all the barbeque places I’ve ever been to I would say that Smokey’s Real Pit Bar-B-Que is still my favorite. I absolutely love the food at Smokey’s. On my last visit I asked the cashier how long they’ve been open. The answer was 34 years! With food like this I can understand why. I normally don’t eat pork but their sliced pork sandwich is so delicious I find it irresistible. It comes on a warm, soft, fresh bun with a very generous amount of meat and a side(I get the fries and a side of beans). Their prices are very reasonable as well. The workers are friendly and attentive. The interior is very dated but that doesn’t bother me in the least. When I’m looking for barbeque ambience is the last thing I care about. I will sit under a mason jar light fixture with a smile on my face while I’m eating this delicious food.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the more recent reviewers. If you are craving good barbecue, skip this place. The prices were reasonable, but the food was not. We came to Smokey’s for dinner after the long drive from Miami and not eating all day. We really wanted to like this place because the staff was so friendly and the place in general had a down-home feeling. However, our first clue should have been the fact that we didn’t smell any smoke when we got out of the car. I ordered the Super Combo and was very dissapointed. Everything tasted like it had been kept under a warming lamp. The ribs were tough. The beef, sliced pork and the turkey were all dry. Even with adding sauce to them, I found the meats to be lacking. The Texas toast and the baked beans were the best things in my to-go box. The pulled pork sandwich(their daily special), according to my sweetie, was«just alright.» I’m not familiar with Pensacola eateries, but I would make Smokey’s last on your«must try» list. There has to be a better place for BBQ than this.

If you enjoy bbq, please keep driving. My fiancé and I came here for lunch. We were so hungry, we would have eaten anything! …or, so we thought. He ordered the smoked turkey sandwich, and it turned out to be turkey lunch meat like you get from the deli counter at the grocery store. It was only slightly warm, and the bread it was served on barely held up. I ordered pulled pork and peach cobbler… I never knew it was possible to dislike peach cobbler until this fateful day. Not to mention that the pulled pork was dry and tasteless. No amount of barbecue sauce could make it taste good because the sauce was also gross! I never thought I could say this about a bbq place, but you would be better off just going to the local grocery store for lunch. We couldn’t bring ourselves to finish our food, and instead left feeling sick and dejected.
