We adore New China, not only is the staff very nice, and fast! Their food is delicious! We order take out from them all the time and we have never had a bad experience!

Good overall place in town for Chinese. We usually get take out and make a little extra drive just to come here, very friendly service, it’s a typical family operated restaurant that makes good dishes. Their black bean beef and sesame chicken is good.

Great food! Fast service! I get the General Tao’s chicken dinner combo and it’s the best I’ve had.

This place is great! We’ve eaten here about half dozen times. It’s about 20 minutes across town for us, or we’d probably go more often. Some of my favorites are the spring rolls, pot stickers, hot and sour soup, and war wonton soup. I also love the Mongolian beef. The bus boys are super attentive with clearing finished dishes and refilling water. I am amazed with how quick they are. I worked in San Francisco for 8 years and we did monthly lunches in China Town. This is better than anything I had there.

Wonderful food! The staff were all very friendly and kind. Service was very quick and we enjoyed every bite. We had 3 generations of family there, and not one thing was disliked by anyone.

This is my go to for take out Chinese food in Redding. I have never sat down and dined in. On average they are quick and friendly. The food is good and good size portions. Their War Wanton soup is awesome. I have yet to have any bad food from them. The prices are reasonable. I have been going here for about a year and usually when they tell you how long your order they are correct 90% of the time. Around the holidays their take-out service is busy and I have waited up to 30 minutes more than they have told me. Always call in your order. If you are looking for good Chinese take-out, this place is worth a try.

My daughter and her family came up yesterday, and we wanted chinese. I came here with a friend 2 weeks ago and had Mongolian beef and I loved it so I decided to get take out. We thought it was perfect! The spicy dishes were spiced just right, everything had the correct textures, and was not too heavy with soy sauce. We had broccoli beef, mushroom chicken, pork chow mein, twice cooked pork, chicken in garlic sauce, and general tso’s chicken. Every dish was excellent! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

If I have one bad comment to make, its that their table side service sucks — they are all very kind and polite but seldom Interact with customers. The best thing to do is get a take out menu, call in your order and take it home. second to the last time I was there was a Sat afternoon around 3pm. I think possibly 4 tables were occupied. One waiter who surely should have been able to handle that. I went in with my elderly aunt and a younger family member. We were deep in conversation, so at first I wasn’t paying too much attention. We had water & our menus — had decided what to order and had placed our menu’s upside down on the side of the table. The only waiter there took — 4 phone orders &2 walk in orders whilst we waited For him to come to my table. I’m usually a rebel rouser if I’m finding myself in a position where I’m ready to spend money but I’m basically feeling ignored. I didn’t want to kick up a fuss because of my auntie but this guy got on my last nerve ! Id say we were seated for well over 30 minutes b4 he came to take our order. I did mention my annoyance with him but(and don’t start yelling, racist at me) but he played the language barrier card, and couldn’t quite«understand» ! If I had gone in alone, I wuda walked out. Now about the food, I’ve been to almost all the Chinese eateries in Redding. I moved up from the San Francisco Bay Area and have been to, and tasted the best of the best. And this place is by far the best food in town. The dishes are excellent and generous — one of my fav Chinese dishes is walnut prawns. They are usually at least $ 4– $ 5 more than any thing on the menu — and normally if you are lucky u may get 7 small prawns, and usually highly over breaded, & greasy ! Not here !!! It is indeed higher priced than other dishes but I was shocked and happy to be served«A MOUND» of prawns -. I actually didnt count them. The whole plate was runneth over with both prawns & Walnuts. The walnuts were perfect — not too sweet — the breading on the prawns perfect! The sauce very yummy ! So I give 4 stars because of the sit down service — but the food most definitely 5! Call in your order people

I have lived in the Reading area for eight years now and was surprised to never hear of new China… My boyfriend and I discovered it and we have been back more than five times. I’m very picky about Chinese food because I am from the San Francisco Bay area I have never found a place I like this much. I love their honey walnut prawns and their potstickers are absolutely delicious with their special dipping sauce. The owner is definitely a character LOL he is so serious and is all about money but I really couldn’t care less because the food is so bomb!

Have ordered dinner from here twice. Decent food. The first time was good, enjoyed the sesame chicken, crab/cream cheese wonton, and pork fried rice. Ordering over the phone is difficult if you struggle to understand thick accents, but it’s doable. The first order was two dinner plates, both were correct. Tonight it was two more dinner plates and they messed up my request for JUST pork fried rice. Be aware — when they tell you 10min for your order it’s safe to add 5−10min to that estimate; or in my case tonight — 25min extra. Also, the order of 10 fried wontons is just that, flat fried wontons; no cream cheese. I made the mistake of assuming there was cream cheese… My bad. 2 stars removed for poor time estimates and only OK service, food is alright.

We have been eating here for years. The owners and staff are very professional and May always remembers your name. We recently moved to the opposite end of town, less than a mile from two other Chinese restaurants. So, to save the drive, we tried one of them. Never again! We will always drive the extra 5 miles one way to eat at New China. The vegetables are not over cooked, the meats are always tender and the sauces are full of flavor. The price is affordable and the quantity is enough for dinner and lunch tomorrow. We highly recommend the Walnut Prawns, Garlic Green Beans, Pot Stickers, Hot and Sour Soup and the list goes on. I have never had a dish I did not like.

Let me begin by saying that I’m not one to crave Chinese food. Maybe twice a year — three times if I’m feeling especially crazy… What I like about New China is that they provide pretty good food — very quickly. Customer service is just okay. We choose to avoid being served by calling in an order and picking it up to go. I really love the way they cook their veggies — not raw but not mushy and over cooked. I like the vegetable Egg Foo Yung and my wife is a fan of their Chow Mein. Consistent and quick food. I’ll go back.

I’ve read a lot of complaints about bad service from New China but I have always received great service. I don’t know of any other Chinese food place where you can order one meal at dinner for $ 10 that gives you soup, an egg roll, chow mein, fried rice, and the entrée! You get so much in the dinner combo that you can easily split it with someone else. I always order the orange chicken or kung pao chicken. You can’t go wrong with either.

very delicious food! I could eat here forever. The oranges they gave us at the end were dry. Also, the customer service sucks. but the food? My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I will reccomend.

Apparently decent food is all these people think it takes to run a successful business, because their service left MUCH to be desired. My brothers & I walked in at 2pm on a Tuesday, & the server left us standing there for a couple minutes before seating us at one of the 10⁄15 empty tables. He didn’t give us any menus & continued to serve other customers until I got up & asked him for some. 2 minutes later he comes & asks if we are ready. Really?! He also never even took our drink orders. When we handed him the menus he snatched them from us. Okaaay. The food came out somewhat promptly & was somewhat decent. I got the War Won Ton Soup, 1 of my brothers got Broccoli Chicken while the other got Sweet & Sour Chicken. All of our chicken was rubbery in texture. Other than the chicken it was ok. Also, apparently in Redding its ok to do food prep seated in the dining area? There were two servers prepping veggies in the dining area in front of all the customers. How unprofessional & unhygienic is that? I’m from Washington where our food safety standards don’t allow for that, especially without gloves. Disgusting. Never again: this restaurant is full of NOPE.

The fiancée and I stopped by here last Sunday around 5 pm for a very late lunch /early dinner after an afternoon of hiking Mount Shasta. She really wanted Chinese food and this place seemed to be highly rated. I looked through the photos of the food and some of the previous reviews and was fairly skeptical. As a rule, I tend to avoid eating Chinese food outside of the San Francisco Bay Area because it’s almost guaranteed that the food will end up tasting like Panda Express. Thankfully, this place turned out to be at least a slight notch above Panda Express quality. The fiancée ordered the Wonton Soup and the House Special Fried Rice and I ordered the Sizzling Beef. As expected, the food can best be characterized as your run-of-the-mill bizarrely Americanized version of Chinese food. The food lacks any nuance or depth of flavor you want out of real Chinese food. The Sizzling Beef was drowning in sauce(a big NONO) and all the food was pretty salty. What infuriated me the most was the wait for the food. This is a relatively small restaurant — maybe 10 to 15 tables total. There are a lot of call in To Go orders, but still, we waited for over 35 minutes for our 3 dishes of food. Absolutely unacceptable. The restaurant obviously needs to hire more staff and it clearly has the means to do so. It was early on Sunday for dinner and already the restaurant was mostly full with a constant barrage of call in orders. If I had to, I might be able to force myself to come here again, but definitely not by choice. Places like New China are further proof in my mind that it is not possible to find authentic Chinese food in places where there is no substantial Chinese population. You might wonder how I still manage to give this place 3 stars. There are clearly some pros. It’s obviously very popular with the locals, so I must be in the minority here with my less-than-satisfactory review. In addition, the food is reasonably okay. Not good or spectacular, but definitely better than some Chinese fast food chains. Finally, the prices are reasonable and won’t break your budget: we had a decent meal for about $ 30.

We were greeted politely and seated right away. The waiter was friendly and took our order without delay. The food arrived quickly, was piping hot, abundant, and delicious. We were permitted to enjoy our dinner in the peaceful and very clean environment. The complimentary dessert include a decoratively carved orange wedge and fortune cookie. The combination dinner is an extremely good value. I will return and visit regularly.
