Poor choice for vegetarians. Amount given is poor for price paid You can probably make their exact sandwiches at your house. Go to whole foods and get the food items. Has a 1 because it’s a clean place.

4.5 stars. I like the layout of this Homegrown better than the original one in Fremont. Feels less crowded with more privacy. FOOD: 4.5. Sandwich: Hummus + Roasted Red Peppers, with optional Avocado. Side salad Pesto Caprese. Tasted fresh and smooth. The bread of the sandwich was lightly crispy on the outside with a soft mildly chewy interior — Perfect. SERVICE: 5.0. The smiles appeared genuine. AMBIANCE: 4.0. Better than Fremont.

Disclaimer: I love avocado and I love breakfast so I may be a bit biased. Anyway, I went there on Wednesday morning and ordered a TBA(turkey, bacon, avocado). After the first bite, I was in love.

Excellent and quick. Great for kids, great for takeaway. We had an assortment of sandwiches and soups in a group of six, and everyone loved their food — this is quite an accomplishment for any group that size! Would recommend wholeheartedly. Side note: don’t miss the little freezer on the way to the bathroom, which is stocked with(what I believe is small batch) ice cream and ice cream sandwiches. Foodie-friendly flavored.

For some reason I was really excited when I saw Homegrown was coming to my neighborhood. Honestly, I am not entirely sure why. I mean, the only times I’ve ever really had HG was when I’ve had their box lunches during a meeting which are pretty decent. Though I have to say, the best part of the box lunch is the boxed water that I’ve had with it. Nothing special about this water except the font they use to write on the package is adorable. I guess I built HG up in my head to be the end all be all for sandwiches. Eh… some things are better left as ideas I suppose. The sandwich(turkey, avocado, and bacon) was so/so. The bacon is thick and smokey and would be a nice addition I suppose if you wanted beef jerky on your sandwich. I did not, so I took this off. The sandwich was also made on the wrong type of bread. In all fairness, I suppose I could have asked for a new sandwich but I was short on time and already waited almost 10 for this one. The turkey, avocado and aioli on the sandwich itself was bland. Not a lot of flavor happening here. I just expected more for local organic products. The guy working, while nice I am not sure was there 100%. I had to repeat my order a couple times and then it came out wrong(hence the bread) and I had ordered it to go and the sandwich was made to eat in. The person before me had their sandwich made incorrectly as well… I’m sensing a theme here. I added the cookie and chip to round out the meal. I wish I hadn’t of done this. I brought the chips home to the better half(just plain thick crinkle cut) and the cookie was not OMG the best cookie I’ve ever had. It was good, don’t get me wrong but I am not sure it was worth the money. I paid $ 20 for the above mentioned meal. To say I was having sandwich regret would be an understatement. Not to mention, parking is a little scarce around those parts so I wouldn’t put too much effort into eating there. Stick with eating the boxed meals(hopefully) someone else is paying for.

This review is based on three recently catered lunches delivered to my work location in Redmond. We have had two sandwich & salad platters, which included a variety of fresh, delicious salads & dressing, deli sandwiches, chips & cookies. Most recently we had box lunches which included a sandwich, chips, apple and chocolate chip cookie. The sandwiches are excellent — rustic, fresh bread, quality meats, fresh veggies and delicious condiments. I’ve tried ½ of several different sandwiches and each one tasted delicious. My only criticism is the amount of meat on the sandwich is hot consistent and tend to be in the light side. Today’s BLT came with lots of fresh spinach instead of lettuce, the tomato tasted as sweet & fresh as the ones I grew in my garden, the avocado was ripe & buttery, the bread was soft yet crusty and tasted great. The bacon was thick-sliced and tasted great, but the two slices were overwhelmed by the veggies & bread, tasty though they were. So far my favorite sandwich is the roast beef & cheddar because the beef is rare, flavorful and they add some horseradish sauce which gives it a delicious kick. They really promote their gluten-free offerings. I can’t comment of these items because I don’t have a gluten allergy and I haven’t tasted their gluten-free foods. The salad bowls are a big enough to provide 4 – 6 sides salads and are filled with fresh, tasty veggies and delicious salad dressings(a bit thick, but they go along way). The chips are individual hand-filled bags of good quality ripple-sliced chips — more and better than prepackaged individual serving size chips. Nothing special, like a hand-made chip, but a tasty accompaniment to the sandwich. The chocolate chip cookies are as good as anything I’ve made at home — soft, chewy and loaded with chunky semi-sweet chocolate chips. The apple in the box lunch was meh — it was sweet & juicy, but also kind of mushy. I tossed it after taking a couple bites. I like crisp apples and this one was not. I give Homegrown a solid recommendation for your next office catered luncheon. Prices are comparable to other caterers and the food is above average overall. I look forward to visiting one of their retail locations. In Redmond, Kirkland or Bellevue.

I’d never been in to one of these before, but met a friend here a few weeks ago for lunch. Ordering gluten free? They’ll change their gloves for you! While it doesn’t eliminate all cross-contamination possibilities, it is a big help and a nice(unprompted) gesture. And their menu clearly indicates potential allergens, which is great. I had the chicken cherry pecan half sandwich on gluten free bread with a side of the pesto caprese salad. The gluten free bread was a lot better than what I’d anticipated(based on experience with gluten free bread) and the chicken cherry pecan had the right combo of savory, sweet, and nutty. This was a pretty excellent lunch and I ate it all, though regretted that a few minutes later due to the large portion sizes. The staff did a great job at answering questions(about allergens) and getting through a decent line in a reasonable amount of time.

Marvelous food! Bacon, egg, and beechers sandwich is worth every single penny. It just happens to be 900 pennies! The pastrami sandwich with pickles, cheese, and etc. Was also very yummy! I recommend the multigrain bread since it has a soft texture and a sweet nutty multi grain taste. The egg has a runny yolk(OMGYUM) that drips all over and is worth the gazillion napkins needed. The baristas/sandwich makers are all very kind and patient. They offer Stumptown coffee! Drinks and food are a little pricey, but they advertise sustainable and local food… a-ok! A very nice little eatery in Redmond!

Again excellent food. I had the roast beef sandwich and my wife had a garden side salad with extra kale and cucumbers. The food was prepared quickly, and tasted wonderful. Employees are extremely helpful and made sure that they don’t cross contaminate for those with allergy concerns.

Definitely a hipster place… A «sustainable sandwich shop». The breakfast sandwiches are delicious. I had a ham, egg, and cheese. I asked them to add avocado. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had. The french bread is super soft. Fresh ingredients. Friendly service. Here is a funny though… I ordered a macchiato thinking I’d get something like you would at Starbucks(think their caramel macchiato). What came out was this teeny tiny cup with strong bitter coffee… Not sweet at all. LOL. So i poured it into my hubbie’s glass of milk, added a couple of sugars… Voila! True coffee drinkers are probably cringing right about now. Haha.

One of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch. Especially since they really cater to the gluten free and vegan crowds. :) The prices have recently gone up, but their serving size is pretty good and I usually end up taking some of it hone, so I’m not too wound up about it. I love their soups and would definitely recommend the soup and half sandwich combo. It’s more than enough. The only downside is the seatting options during the lunch rush. If you go early no worries, but often they are packed early and late, and it can be a mad dash for a recently freed up table and chair.

Yeah… Went in today. Got my usual of a BLT. Ate half of it at work. I was going to eat the other half but then got distracted and put my sandwich down(top on the table bottom of sandwich is facing up). I look down to pick up my sandwich and I noticed a little fuzziness on my sandwich??? Oh look, look further down and oh HAY. Green fuzziness! Yeah… There was mold on my sandwich… Well here’s the potential of me eating moldy bread from the other half. I couldn’t go in to show them, but I called them to tell them. Person on the phone just said«awww I’m sorry». Um, if I was the owner, id freak out and do a massive check on their bread inventory. I ended the call by telling her to check all the bread. She offered me a replacement sandwich, but… Now… I’m hesitant to go back. At least I have my cookie.

Homegrown is solid. I really like their breakfast sandwich with avocado. The cappuccino is delicious and sometimes I pop in just for that. I’ve also had their roast beef sandwich which was good. You’ll like the food here — great quality ingredients. The atmosphere gives you the typical and oh so popular«farm to table» vibe which I don’t mind. It’s clean and comfortable. The line can get pretty long during lunch. The reason I opted for three stars over 4? The price… it’s pretty pricey for simple sandwiches. By the time you get a sandwich, drink and a side(chips, salad, etc) you are looking at about $ 15 which is a lot for a sandwich shop. I’ll go back but it’s not in my weekly or even monthly rotation.

The Chipotle of sandwich places Ambience: 3 Food: 4 Drinks: — Value: 3 By my neanderthalic analogy, this place is basically the Chipotle of sandwich and salad places. Would you like gluten free, French, or wheat bread? Would you like Kale, Spinach, or field greens as the leaf for your salad? Would you like to add a pickle to your order? And just like Chipotle, it’s pretty tasty. Sadly, for the same price, it’s not as gargantuan as a Chipotle meal…

Very good place to grab lunch on the east side. I was a fan of homegrown before but every time I go back I’m reminded why I love it so much. It is a smidge more spendy than most sandwich spots but I think it’s made up for with overall quality. The ingredients are always fresh and always paired well to create the best tasting sandwich or salad. I appreciate that they offer gluten-free bread with all sandwich choices. I came here for lunch around 11:30 on a weekday, and it was starting to get a little crowded but for takeout it should not be a problem. I ordered the seasonal sandwich which consisted of Italian meats, red peppers and fresh mozzarella it was amazing! My coworker ordered the pastrami sandwich and said it was very tasty as well.

Beautiful spring day this week and was working from home so decided to take a stroll to Homegrown for lunch. Had been here to grab a coffee(Stumptown) that was great so was looking forward to a nice lunch. Pros: Food is organic and they have a nice selection of sandwiches and salads. No wait(maybe because of the cons below?). Plenty of seating and very clean. Cons: $ 12 for a basic salad with chicken, pecans, and spinach. really seemed like a lot for something that was so basic. Staff was a bit pretentious. There were four people behind the counter who mostly stood there and watched one person who was working. Warm bread with salad was nice except it was dried out. Don’t mind paying for quality ingredients, but except something original and different. Meh. think will go elsewhere.

I ordered a seasonal half cranberry compote turkey sandwich with cheese added to go. I love hot sandwiches in general so I have been wanting to visit this place for a while. The service was reasonably fast as I went in around 3pm when there was only one other person in the store. The to-go bag as very cute and I love the logo. The sandwich itself reminded me of the turkey and brie sandwich from Specialty’s(perhaps because I added cheese for an extra dollar). However, there was way too much cherry compote in my sandwich and I thought it was too acidic. I did like how this sandwich had more greens than Specialty’s version. However, I thought the taste would be much improved if there was some constraint on the application of the compote. Overall a solid sandwich place. The half portion was sufficient for me. I think a full portion would have been too big. I would love to come back and try some of the other standard sandwiches.

Everyone seems to love this place so I’m sorry to give it only two stars. Clearly, I’m in the minority here, but let me explain. I ordered an avocado, fried egg and cheese sandwich on wheat roll. It came and I took a bite, but what??? Where was the egg? They forgot it! I handed it back, they quickly apologized and added the egg. But really? Not cool. Also, I found the wheat roll bread to be too hard. Next time, I’ll try the regular white bread roll. I do love that they offer a good and nutritious kids meal. My kiddo loved her sandwich and organic fruit and milk. I would come back for that alone. The space is pretty small and can get crowded, at least it was on Saturday at lunchtime. There is a somewhat small parking area behind the brick building. I’m torn between giving Homegrown 2 and 3 stars. But I’m gonna have to go with 2 stars based on forgetting to add the major ingredient in my sandwich. I will come back again and give it another chance. It wasn’t bad, just not a great first experience.

Exactly what is stated in its name, all the ingredients are Homegrown or locally sourced, and there’s a big chalkboard that proves it! I love this about this new addition to Redmond. Instantly I was drawn to this place, with its full brick walls, rustic wooden counters, and chalkboard menu boards. Lots of breakfast options such as salads, granola, breakfast sandwiches or sandwiches and even a menu for the kids! I decided on the Avocado, Fried Egg and Gouda breakfast sandwich($ 9 full). I shared ½ with my friend who had the hot sauce on the side. The sandwich was made fresh and served on all metal tray. The bread was soft and crusty on the outside, with the gouda cheese adding its melty goodness to the bread. The avocado was creamy(I wish they added more!) and the fried egg was not runny or overly salty. To finish off this morning meal, I ordered the Hot Chocolate. Boy oh boy… this was one of the BEST hot chocolates I’ve ever had… hands down! The hot chocolate was not overly sweet but still had a pleasant chocolate flavour. The hot drink was creamy and smooth to the last drop, no powder bits at the bottom. I enjoyed this drink thoroughly, I would’ve licked the cup if I weren’t in public. Overall, a good start to my day. Also you can feel good with all the recycling and compost bins available and the sustainable trays and utensils used in this establishment. The washroom is really modern and clean too. Parking is available at the back of the restaurant but there’s a lot of construction around so it might not be too accessible but there’s still a lot of free street parking available.

I came here for lunch and got half a breakfast sandwich for $ 5.50! Kinda pricey for just an egg, bacon and cheese. but it’s GOOD, so it was worth it! It’s a lil heavy though, so I was glad it was my lunch and that I only got half. My bf got the whole roasted pastrami for $ 11.50. It was really good too — lots of pastrami and pickles(yum!), and the caramelized onions added a nice sweet flavor to the sandwich, which we both enjoyed. I’d get both sandwiches again. I’ve been to other locations before but I think this is my favorite! It’s small, but I love the exposed brick and high white ceilings at this location. It was pretty busy when I went on a Saturday for late lunch, but the line moved pretty quickly and we got our sandwiches pretty fast too. Also, there’s free street parking around. Overall, pretty delicious sandwiches but just wish they weren’t so expensive :/Sigh. I love heated sandwiches and Homegrown sure has some good ones. but with tip I think we paid $ 20 for 1.5 sandwiches, which is a bit much for a casual sandwich shop! Bf and I agreed if it weren’t so pricey, we’d be back a lot more often, but it might just be a once every few months place for us. TIP: You can choose between French, wholegrain or gluten free bread. Choose French! It’s probably not as «healthy» as the wholegrain, but it’s tastes better! The sandwiches aren’t exactly the healthy type anyway, so just go for the French. It’s got a good chew, and it’s just a better bread for a warm sandwich!
