Pit Surf Shop

First off, the owner was very accommodating had my boys in private lessons with an amazing instructor the day after I called. I missed the surf camp sign up and was worried they wouldn’t get the same experience they had been asking for this summer. They got to pick one camp and Surf Camp was it. We were in town from Raleigh for the week and I had made a promise. Too bad it was filled up everywhere. I called the Pit and not only did they make it happen for us, they gave our boys an amazingly fun and knowledgeable instructor that kids called Coach Roy. He encouraged them and pushed them but also accommodated their desire to rest when needed. Our youngest was 6, so 2 hours everyday out there can be a lot. we felt confident with them out there with him and they begged to back each day. They stood up the first day and by the last day our oldest was using a more typical style board that challenged him and he can’t wait to get back in the water.
Thanks again for such a great experience. I wouldn’t look any further for a surf lesson, you found the right place.

Great place to take a surf lesson and rent a board. Roy is a rad guy to learn from and you can tell he loves to be in the water. Will definitely be back when I’m back…

Had a fantastic surf lesson with Canon. That guy knows how to teach. My first time attempting to surf and I had a blast! Canon is calm, informative, and very encouraging. If you’re thinking of lessons, definately ask for this guy.

Great surf shop. Since leaving SD I haven’t really found a board shop that had a decent selection of boards and good prices. The people running the place were also really nice.
The shop itself is pretty cool. Stuffed into an old house, the main area is filled with clothes, suits etc. Then there is a 2-​story smaller house-​thing with longboards upstairs and shortboards downstairs right out back.
