I just noticed that it is now closed :-(. I know the people that owned this place, and the food is prepared everyday fresh *very* early in the morning, despite what many ill-informed Unilocalers(including you Elites) say… Yes they really are French, and thus the food ingredients, and taste reflects as well(the culturally aware will recognize French/Europeans generally eat healthier). Was a great option to have in this food court.

This place is CLOSED. I confirmed it with the Italian place next to it. There goes the ONE place I could get cheap lunch in the food court. :(

Try their chips/fries with the home made sauces. There are just fanta-bulous. The quiche is very tasty. They have three veggie options for vegetarians. The also recently started the patty burger type of stuff and soup. Am going to try it out this out this week. The food is cheap and worth the buy.

This is a French food with an American twist. I am a fan of these mainly because the flavor is great and the price is right. These are cooked fresh in the morning; I have called to place orders and they where still cooking. I must say I am a fan of the Ratatouille, great flavor with lots of veggies, great anytime of day.

Yes, they are starting with a new idea and it will take a while before the average American can adjust to this new fresh delicious taste. But some of the comments on this Food Court business — hallo, it is not a high end restaurant — show that the«tasters» need to get some help. Let’s start with ophthalmic corrections: while they use a microwave for some warm up(and what is the problem with that?), it becomes very clear that they prepare the food on site(just look into the OPEN kitchen right behind the counter), and, yes, who would ever believe it: by a French chef in Southern California!!! He even has a French accent… His appropriate use of herbs in the quiche-like(egg whites only) Eggstras might not be appreciated by patrons who grew up on ketchup, cheap pizza, Chinese take out and donuts but it is actually tasty and healthy due to the low fat. If you need that, you can go to the nearby businesses, where you can get delicious old-fat legg rolls, or a micro kebab that needs loads of carbs in form of rice AND bread to fill you so that you can join the league of type 2 diabetics along with your friends, the super-sizers from McD. And if you are afraid of the swine flu, try the grilled chicken right outside the Food Court: they are not fried(doesn’t that sound healthy?) but come from that mega farm, where they are being brought to standardized broiler size with the help of antibiotics and steroids. Overall, good service, fresh and light food with great flavor with some of the best«freedom» fries in SD. I hope it will be a success.

I really enjoy the comfort food style of the quiches. People saying it’s a mushy substance. have you ever had a quiche? Anyway… Great variety of flavors and low fat(in general). The pita chips and various dipping sauces make a great side. I also really dig that I buy one get one free almost everytime. Keep it up guys! a nice alternative in the food court

The Neapolitan, which has tomatoes and herbs, is very good, but the food sometimes is occasionally too salty. I really wish they offered different types of bread, besides pita. It might help with taste and presentation. The owner/manager is really nice, and works very hard.

They’re giving out free samples in the food court today — EW. Don’t bother. A few of my coworkers have eaten here — their comments ranged from«It’s okay, kinda bland,» to «Oh my God, I’m still hungry.» The sample I had, which I believe was the Loraine, was absolutely horrible. Soggy, mushy egg-like substance with some weird spice in it that just made the egg taste… off. Like, going-bad off. And seriously, if they do not STOP putting flyers on my car, I will come after them!

Business isn’t doing very well at this new and different food court venue as compared to the others. However, the staff tries very hard and seems very sincere and dedicated. They are trying to get customers acquainted with the French-inspired pita sandwiches, so they’re always offering samples at the counter. I’ve tried the Napolitain, which was tomato based. It was tangy and delicious. Also tried the Ratatouille, which I liked more. It tasted very delicate and had real veggies texture. I bought their ham & swiss pita sandwich. But being in a pita bread, it was really thin and ordinary. I didn’t like it very much. The folks working there have thick French accents, have great customer service, and are always smiling. Overall, I think this place serves something new and made with heart.

I feel bad giving this place a bad review because it looks like they are trying hard… but I have tried this place twice and it was average at best. Eggstra has the best fries in the food court, but sandwiches are very nothing to write home about.

Just had my first sandwich from there and anyone who didn’t give them a 5 is crazy. First, the food is absolutely delicious. Second, this is the best priced place to eat in in that entire area. The tomato sandwich is perfect and the french fries are what real french fries should taste like. The portions are great — big enough for even me! I highly recommend this place.

Wow. What a breath of fresh air! Finally a new lunch option in the Mira Mesa food courts that isn’t your run of the mill mexican, sushi, chinese, pizza, greek, indian, blah blah blah. After working down there for a year and a half you get bored of everything, quickly. Eggstra offers normal human sized portions of healthy food at decent prices. You can stuff your face at a different option for almost $ 10 after tax and watch yourself pack on the pounds over the months, or eat at Eggstra and walk away feeling satisfied with a healthy lunch and still have some money in your pocket. The menu is simple, a few different sandwich choices served in fresh pitas and a couple other options. If you need a McDonald’s super-sized fries to be satisfied you won’t be happy here, but if you like your fries made from fresh potatoes and cooked with love and care then Eggstra will put a smile on your face. I’d love to see some more abnormal drink and snack options like products made from local farmers, more healthy juices or even just a fresh fruit basket. Otherwise it’s a solid place. If you work in the Mira Mesa area you owe it to your soul to try Eggstra.

A new alternative in the food court that caters to the Qualcomm lunch crowd. Reasonable prices for unique lunch options. The mushroom Lorraine quiche was served in a pita bread. Savory and filling, but not overwhelming. The serving size of the $ 2 side of fries was too small — do yourself a favor and walk across the parking lot to McDonald’s for the fries.

What a great idea, French quiche sandwiches! The owner, Mike(Michel?) was giving out free samples today. I had already ordered lunch somewhere else, but he was patient enough to explain what all the different flavored sandwiches were and talk about how business was going. All three(a tomato/basil, grilled eggplant/zucchini, and mushroom) were delicious, but the mushroom’s savory flavors really stood out as the best in my opinion. I will definitely be going out of my way to return to this place for a proper meal.

I am reviewing after my first trip here but I will definitely go back to try more and add subsequent updates. Pricing — not bad. This whole food court is overpriced, if you ask me, so $ 5.39 for my food(sans drink) is pretty good. They also break everything out. This much for the sandwich, this much for fries, etc. so it is very easy to see what you are buying and to opt out on something. Menu — Very simple! My non-photographic memory recalls about 5 different Eggstra Sandwiches, 3 others that incl. Ham, Turkey w/cheese, 3 types of Patisseries and bevies. Taste — Yep, Vinh and Phuc are right it is not typical lunch food which I like and will bring me back to try more. It’s also very non-complicated. I got the Forestier which has mushrooms, chive, and garlic. If you do not like any of these three items do not get this sandwich because all three are keeping my tastybuds busy with their flavor after one bite. I swear, it’s like I never knew what a mushroom truly tasted like and now it is all up in my mouth. I am not a big fan of the pita-y bread. By the time I got back to my office(directly up the stairs) it was already a little chewy. I am, however, a big fan of the use of eggs. It is very delish. The fries were very good. The size is smaller than you might expect but I say it’s a just-enough-portion.

This is certainly a «different» type of sandwich shop. As it claims, it’s an American sandwich with a French twist. I went to check out their opening special last Friday, and hey, free food is great food! Of course, free is not the reason I gave this place 4-stars. Rather it’s the unique taste and approach compared to what the other competitors had offer. Anyhow, enough praising — let me break down: Eggstras sandwiches, I believe is some sort of a tortilla/pita type of flour with assorted varieties mixed with eggs. The end result — magic! I got the Napolitain, which was some sort of tomato mixture. [ . This had sort of a tart taste from the tomatoes, but somehow I finished it before I even realized it. I’ll have to try it again to jog my memory. My friend Phuc N. got the Lorrain [ . I stole a bite of this sucker and it reminded me of a light, fluffier scrambled egg batter, or as Phuc N. suggested, a quiche. Pita Kroc — I’ll have to write a review update when I try this. From the looks of the menu, it appears more so like an American sandwich, but served in a pita pocket. Lastly, their home made pastries — not too sweet, just the way I like it. I tried both their lemon and apple pastry. Lemon is definitely better. [ . [ . Great food. Reasonable prices. Satisfied!

This eatery is not your run of the mill food court fare, it’s a modern take on sandwiches with a french twist. The menu was simple yet has a variety of selections to choose from. She recommended the«Lorrain» which I readily accepted since I couldn’t turn down anything with bacon. It came in the form of egg, cheese, leeks, and thin slices of bacon(just to give it a hint of flavor without overpowering the rest) all nestled in a light pita pocket. If you like quiche then you will love this sandwich since it reminded of me of Quiche Lorraine. The prices were also great especially during these hard economic times so there is no compromise in quality on your dime. Did I tell you they also have homemade desserts? They have a variety of tarts that come in different sizes and my favorite is the lemon tart which you should definitely try. All in all, I look forward to coming back to try their other sandwiches and eggsellent(yeah, I couldn’t resist :)) desserts. If you’re looking for something new or have a sweet tooth, check them out. Now, if they started to sell espresso to go with the desserts… it would be a match made in heaven.
