Dont be fooled by the look this place is awesome. Great food made from scratch and the price is very good as well. I would say top 3 in my list to eat

This place is a little hidden germ next to Popeyes chicken in the corner of San Gabriel BLVD and Valley BLVD. This place serves home cooking style dishes. 6 dollars for a good portion meal.

Very convenient, fast, cheap, and delicious home style Chinese Vietnamese food. I usually like to come here during the week to get takeout dinner after work. So far, I liked every dish I’ve tried. I usually get 3 items and it’ll feed at least 4 people. It’s $ 18 for 3 items, or you can order any 1 dish for $ 6. Same thing. My favorite dishes so far are the catfish sweet and sour soup and diced tenderloin steak(bo luc lac). I recommend phoning in your order before you pick it up. It takes him about 15 minutes to prepare anything. Ocassionally, I’ll customers dining in and they’ll even do a little karaōke. But this seems to a place where people go for takeout.

Ordered food to go twice already. Food is really good. Any item on menu is $ 6 bucks. So you don’t have to choose his preset combos. Just mix and match to your liking. Ends up being the same price anyway. Hot sour soup — 4(I ask for less items in soup and more broth). Personally I think he puts too much stuff in it but that’s me. Porkchop with lemongrass and chili — 4(tons of lemongrass flavor) Beef with onion and ginger — 3(nothing stood out but good nonetheless) Fried fish with lemongrass and chili — 4 Stir fried beef with bamboo shoot — 3 Steam rice is nto included in his combo deals. $ 2 for one box(large togo container). Nice guy. Answers phone and takes order promptly. English is decent for those who don’t speak his native language which is Vietnamese. Food takes about 15 mins to prepare. His prices are slightly higher than what is pictured. I’ve uploaded his most recent menu.

It is actually pretty good. We finally gave this place a try. My wife ordered the cat fish seafood soup(taste like Thai), the deep fried pork chop(so unlike the typical Chinese) it has lemon grass, and the beef with onion. Not bad! Will try again!

The first time we ordered food to be delivered at our office in Alhambra for lunch. The food was great for the price. When we ordered later, we were told by the person who picked up the phone that he had to pick up his kids. We later called for delivery at night but were told that they do not deliver at night. Delivery is when there is no business. It appears that it is a one-man laid-back show restaurant!

Scott T.‘s 6÷6÷14 review is pretty much on point. Circling that itty bitty parking lot with your window down for minutes can drive you nuts especially if you’re one to be cranky when you’re hungry. The popeye’s chicken smells amazeballs. I almost gave up but I’m glad I didn’t. The owner/server/cook was chillen with his homie when I walked in. He gave me a menu to check out. It didn’t phase him that I took a long time deciding on what to order because there’s so many set menu options but in the end decided on #14. Seafood Canh Chua Deep fried spare ribs with lemon grass and chili Onion & ginger beef stir-fry I’m not sure if you get rice if you get dine in however you don’t if you order take out. No biggie since the food is already ridiculously cheap. $ 14.95 for 3 items. It doesn’t get any better than that. The seafood canh chua was my favorite of the meal. It tastes just like my Co Ba’s in VN, makes me miss her food even more. Just thinking about it, makes me salivate. It had a nice spicy kick to it. The meal is meant to feed 3 but my sister and I devoured it alone. It was bittersweet. We really enjoyed the food but it reminded us of our dad’s home cooked meal. I’m glad to have found a spot helps me remember him.

If late one Friday night you are trying to find somewhere to land for dinner after having walked out of an overcrowded restaurant that told you it would take 30 minutes for rice(Phở Nguyen Hoang, who can go fuck themselves), you might notice a tiny — almost literal — hole in the wall next to a Popeyes in the strip mall at Valley and San Gabriel. If you then ignore the delicious smelling fast food fried chicken of Popeyes and take the road less travelled into this eerily empty Vietnamese restaurant, you will be seated by a man with a half open button-down shirt, ponytail and goatee. Above a scrawled sign that reads«Food Togo”(sic) and a juicer for sugar cane, there will be a small TV playing a Chinese soap opera dubbed in Vietnamese. On the wall, a guitar that the man probably played once to a girl thousands of miles and many tracks of tears ago. On a table by the register, an electronic keyboard covered by a towel that, if the world is just, he plays in a dark and smoke-filled lounge somewhere in South El Monte on Thursday nights, backing a middle-aged woman who croons love songs in a sequined dress. And on the opposite wall will be a large puzzle framed in glass that must’ve taken countless weekends to finish. After taking your order, the man will head back into the kitchen and make your food as if he’s cooking for you at his house, which is to say, deliberately and not in a rush. There will be tiny specks of leaves in your cold tea, dry-fried lemongrass heaped on your fish, and the bamboo will smell strong and pungent. The soup will be unremarkable but will taste homemade. It’s possible the man will have misunderstood that you wanted the fried fish in addition to — not in place of — the pork dish you also ordered, and will go back and make that, again not in a rush. And after he finishes cooking, he’ll go outside for a cigarette and then come back in and sit down, propping his feet up, and watch the Chinese soap operas with you. You’ll pay much less than you expected and probably walk out with leftovers, and as you get in your car, you’ll imagine the man taking down the guitar and softly playing a song about missing someone far away.

Definitely hole in the wall place. I don’t know why I’m always looking and going to small places… I guess it is because its just soooo good! LOL My sister loves coming here to get food for dinner. The vietnamese food is all authentic! Family meals are cook when ordered. We decided to stop in for lunch one day and try their banh xeo. They gave us a huge plate of veggies. We love rolling the banh xeo in the lettuce and dipping it in the fish sauce! So delicious. Definitely check out this place if your too lazy to cook dinner for the family. Call ahead what you want.

Not bad not bad. Food very similar what my parents’ used to make. I had one of the family dinner combos and was very pleased. One critic that I would give is I wish the portion was a bit more. My wife and I finished the entire meal and I was hungry still for more.

A total hole-in-the-wall restaurant. I love going here to get traditional Vietnamese food – food that I wouldn’t be able to find in your typical phở restaurants(eg. bitter melon soup). The prices are low, around $ 5.50 per item – and the taste of each item is top-notch. I brought a group of 5 here and we had a 7 course meal with rice included. The total came out to be $ 43. The only things I don’t like about this place is that it doesn’t take Visa or credit cards, and the dining area is very small – other than that, a perfect place to order Vietnamese food to-go.

[written circa Fall of ’09] I’m just writing in hopes Tony N would someday cancel his Unilocal account (Guess what? Tony N resigned. So here goes this«review» and woot for FTR.) NB2: annnd Tony N is back. Unilocal«mystery» heuristics is awesome. ============================== The house that Bun Bo Hue built. I don’t know the chef’s name, but he’s a one man show. Often the family would come to help out, but this gentleman reminds me of Phở Minh’s The bun bo hue here, for me, is tops in the SGV right now. Better than the MSG spiked version at Nem Nuan Ken Hoa, even better than the version found at Mien Trang,(which I already thoroughly enjoy) and definitely more punched up than the pacific version found at Phở Minh(of which Mr. Gold and many others have spoke fondly). The use of fish sauce is restrained, as is the use of aniseed. Also sampled my first«Vietnamese» hot pot here. The hot & sour seafood hot pot(lau hai san chua cay) was nearly enough to serve 2 people, with a very pleasant sour soup base heavily infused with lemon grass. The mix-ins of various seafood were served pile in an artistic manner, but at $ 18, I expected a bit more. Therein lies the biggest problem with M Delivery: it’s pricey. Beyond the bun bo hue and bun ca at $ 5, and various noodles at $ 7, the remaining menu all tops out at $ 10 for«To Go»(which really means«dine in») and $ 12 Delivery. This joint, remains truly undiscovered for me. Need to bring a Sino-Viet crew back here and do a wee bit of menu destruction as there is much of interest here: charboiled squid with squid & chili, deep fried quail, duck tonque with coconut sauce, roast venison w/ginger sauce salad 725 E. My wife and I recently stopped by to grab some ice coffee, I decided to take a peak at the menu and I order some thing to munch on. The food is so tasty and fresh that I would be happy to pay double. They are a small restaurant, but they have a variety of items on the menu. check this place out, you won’t be disappointed.
