Absolutely love the staff here. We live 2 minutes away, so this is our go-to sushi take out spot. Sushi selection is limited, but that doesn’t bother us. It is more of a hibachi place, after all. We come back because we’re treated like family. Fair prices, and consistent food. Not a bad deal for Whitemarsh Island. Thank you for taking care of us.

Food is always 100% right on. The staff is always friendly and kind. I travel a lot and always find myself looking for a place to eat with comparable food, and it’s not out there. Really good food. Thanks

So excited to find this jewel! We lived here 20 yrs ago and just moved back. We always ate at the original Hirano’s, which is no longer good since it was bought out! So happy the owner of Kaki trained under the great Hirano and cooks like he did! Thank you, thank you!

Best gyozas in town! We use to own Ninan on Wilmington island and these are as close to Niban gyozas as when we make them at home. Great friendly service. The sushi is good. The salmon is my favorite.

I have been eating here for a couple of years at least. I suppose that there is sort of a format that Japanese/sushi style restaurants seem follow which somewhat restricts the menu, so unfortunately I have to go elsewhere for my sesame chicken and those more elaborate types of cooked dishes. I am not a fan of sushi either. That being said, when my son and I want teriyaki and a great egg roll we LOVE this place. We both agree that Kakki makes the best egg rolls ever – perfectly cooked and always fresh-tasting. The place always seems to have plenty of happy diners and the lady who answers the phone is a sweetheart.

February 27, 2015 Friday 6:30PM 1 Adult and a kid Atmosphere — 4 stars Food — 4 stars Service — 4 stars Background — My daughter picked the place out as it was close to house. Atmosphere — They are missing the KAK on the sign above the door but the graphics on the window is correct. Part of a small strip mall and its foot print in it short but long. The open kitchen is to the right when you walk in and the tables to the right. The yellow textured walls were weird. Food Drinks — Asahi Japanese beer. Food — I had two sushi rolls for $ 10, both were solid. I was able to watch them make them in the kitchen. I was able to point out the steps they took to make it to my daughter. My daughter’s chicken teriyaki was a little over cooked but the seasoning was good. Service — Friendly. Somehow my daughter spilled her drink and she noticed but she seemed more concern with her not falling over the pop on the floor. But the pop remained there on the floor the entire time we were there. Future — If my daughter wants too.

Completely americanized Japanese. If you can call it that. It had the taste of Chinese food. I get a dragon roll at every Japanese restaurant I go, and this place was atrocious. The service was good. But just not what I expected from a Japanese restaurant.

Divey gem-of-an island, Japanese hibachi spot. Close to on par with TACA(in town) at one-third of the price, if that. I’ve tried the seaweed and squid salad($ 5), miso soup($ 1.5), and spicy tuna toll(hand-rolled before my very, bar-seated eyes) among other offerings. For the price and quality, the strip mall setting ought to be overlooked. If value and taste are your metrics, check this place out; if environment and frills rank up there, order pick-up — you won’t be disappointed.

One of the best Japanese restaurant in Savannah area! Everything on the menu is at least 17 dollars or under… The sushi is 10 dollars and under. Very affordable GOOD food if your on a budget. I would recommended everything on the menu! I especially love the sushi menu. Order everything on the combination sushi! My favorite is the Hewei Roll, red dragon roll, Wizard rook, volcano, dynamite… You should just get the whole thing. I do have to say, come there right when there open bc it does get busy around 6 – 830. If you want your food right away that is. Overall, it’s worth the wait for the food

Good food and almost always good service. Very friendly. They act like they are happy to see you. Plus they remember the regular customers and greet them as they enter. Only negative so far is occasionally they are understaffed and service suffers, but that hasn’t happened very often. My favorite is the teriyaki chicken. Generous portion and consistently good.

This place is really good! I’ve been here twice and service has been very quick. The restaurant seems to be pretty popular as there have been plenty of customers when I’ve gone. I highly recommend the island spring roll. It’s basically sushi fried in what I think is peanut oil, and topped with 2 kinds of sauces, seaweed salad and fish eggs! It’s delicious, filling and only $ 7.50!

After spending many an evening at Hiranos, we are happy to have found an Island Japanese restaurant that has both wonderful teriyaki and sushi! The service is friendly and very fast which is convenient if you are in a hurry or looking to carry out. Unfortunately, they don’t deliver but that is only to be expected as very few places on Wilmington or Whitmarsh Island do deliver. Call ahead if you know you’re on your way to make sure they have either bar space or a table ready for you. You can’t go wrong with the gyozas and chicken teriyaki especially if you get their brown rice– it’s delicious!

I had read the glowing review for Kakki, so when my parents were in town for the holidays, I decided to take them here. Thirty minutes later, we left. The pleasant server found us a table in the busy restaurant quickly, and came back with our drink order mostly right(missing one sake), so they get one star. One side of the menu offered a fairly comprehensive Japanese selection with a few Chinese dishes thrown in for good measure. If you flipped it over, there was a large sushi menu that included several creative-sounding rolls. After three out of four ordered sushi, the waitress came back and reported that they could not make any sushi, as there was no one available to make it. We asked for a few more minutes to go over the other half of the menu, and she complied without making us feel rushed(again, the only reason they have a star). When she came back, two of us ordered a beef dish. Unfortunately, they were out of beef. «How about the noodles?» my father asked, «Are they any good?» The waitress informed him that they are indeed excellent. However, they were out of noodles. At 6:30pm on a Monday night, it turns out that all this place had available was Chicken or Shrimp Teriyaki with rice. My only question was, why didn’t the waitress simply tell us that before we ordered our drinks? It would have saved us a lot of time and aggravation. Maybe Kakki serves wonderful teriyaki with rice. Unfortunately, my family was in the mood for something a little more adventurous, so we paid for our drinks and headed elsewhere. If I decide to try this place again, I’ll be sure to call ahead to see if they are actually offering any Japanese food.

Awesome joint. Excellent food and service. I highly recommend you trying this place out. Very friendly servers. Very busy for such a small out of the way place.
