A Japanese place that serves mashed potatoes as a side??? Food sub standard. Super salty. NO Hibachi?

Wow what a disaster. We were about to go to the middle eastern place across the street put its prices were through the roof. We opted for this joint as it was close by and we were starving. If we knew what was in store for us, we would have stayed the @#$%^& away from the Seasons Asian Bistro. Firs off when we got in they made it sort of big deal that we had more than four people and that it would be excrutiating to put two tables together. After we were seated, we ordered our food for their somewhat extensive menu. Then we waited… and waited… Waited some more… It took our waitress some time to refill our empty glasses, oh yeah, we continued to wait … And wait… Finally some of the food came in. Slowly. I got my curry. It was not curry at all. More of a cold puddle of brown with orange that could resemble dog food or puke. Or puked up dog food. I had a bite of it. I honestly shouldn’t have. Given that it looked awful and tasted like crap, I sent it back. Our server did not like this and rolled back with scoff. Finally the sushi arrived and it was actually pretty good. Well rolled. Full of flavor. And it did not look like dog throw up. All in all. Get the sushi, avoid the curry, don’t come with a bunch of people.

We were in Savannah for Memorial Day weekend 2010 and decided to eat sushi on Saturday night(5÷29÷10). We chose the restaurant because all the reviews said it is the best sushi in town. Well they are all wrong. The sushi was horrible. When it finally came close to an hour after we ordered every single type of fish seemed close to spoiling. Not fresh and tasty-all had a fishy taste and slimy texture indicating a lack of freshness. Included in our order were eel, salmon, tuna, octopus, whitefish and more; I say this to indicate that it was not one kind of fish but rather everything on the sushi menu which tasted old/spoiling and fishy/horrible. Every single roll was rolled inside-out also which annoyed me. Our waitress came to our table literally one other time in the hour that we were there waiting. When she came by(then 35 minutes after our arrival/order and 20 minutes since we both ran out of drinks), we asked her where she had been. She made the excuse that 2 waitresses had called in sick and so it was only her and one other girl. Well, did the chefs call in sick, too? Her excuse justified the horrible attention & drink service, but not the 1 hour wait for two people’s sushi order. The restaurant wasn’t even full. The atmosphere is no good also; there is no sushi bar-even more suspicious now that I see the quality of sushi they are turning out. I read on their site or somewhere that the owners were Japanese, so I was expecting some real legitimate traditional sushi. This place tasted like the last 15 minutes of the all you can eat buffet at Ru-San’s left out in the sun for an extra 24 hours until the fish was nice and ripe. Don’t eat here. I am not writing this review out of spite but to save anyone else from the terrible experience my wife and I went through. Did I mention that the sake was luke-warm? There is more, but I have written enough. They literally failed in every category possible. Based on this abject failure to perform I cannot believe that we merely caught them on a bad night or that our experience is the outlyer. No-there is something Rotten in Seasons of Japan, and if you eat there you should expect nothing but suffering and disappointment.

oh my… let’s start with the good: promptly seated, good waiter, and the manager agreed to us not paying for the 3 entrees that were inedible. He offered us gift certificates for future dining, but we declined. How bad was it? We even sent the water back! My wife’s crab stuffed salmon was«gross»(her words) and cold. My two daughters’ chicken was, honestly, worse than what you’d get from Panda Express. My Kobe beef burger was overcooked(but edible). The sushi was fine and my daughter’s salad was ok. Perhaps it was just a bad day. There were other diners who seemed to not be dissatisfied. I’m a reasonable reviewer(I think), I just gave Soho South 5 stars, and it’s possible all things just went wrong for them tonight. I wouldn’t necessarily reject them on the basis of my rating(though I won’t go back). but if you do go, and it doesn’t meet your expectations, know they’ll make it right.

First and foremost… is it not«Seasons of Japan»? I hate when people Unilocal the incorrect name… but ok, since there are two locations and this particular one is their Bistro, I shall move on… I am really very surprised with the lower marks here. Maybe I was just lucky but I had EXCELLENT food and very, very good service. My husband and I walked in around 8pm during the week. We were seated right away, as they were not crowded. And let me just say, Hibachi style is very very rare in the South. I am from Los Angeles where it is easy to find. Most people do not understand that it is a way of cooking that NOT all Japanese places use. For someone to say this was not that great leads me to believe that they are simple inexperienced in gourmet traditions or they came on a night of bad luck. I really am certain about this. It is sad to me because all it takes is one person who doesn’t know what they should expect to taste to start a snowball effect. I had the Hibachi filet mignon. It was traditionally cooked in garlic until a thin bit of crisp coated both sides. I eat mine rare, because well… thats really the only way you should be eating a filet… but if you must destroy the flavor, please do not go over medium. You may as well order a lesser cut of meat. Broccoli Rabe came on my plate, crispy and sauteed perfectly. Again, to sautee means the veggies will sill have a little crunch. Most places, of Applebees calibur actually steam them into submission, then toss them with butter and call it a sautee. NO. Also on my plate were two halves of rice spring rolls. These were right up my alley. It is traditional to serve a blander item with the garlicky meat and usually rice does the trick. I thought it was very nice and clever to have this little treat on the plate. I ordered the fried rice with my meal, which I was happy to see was seasoned, but did not have little pieces of frozen carrot and peas. It was plain and perfect. I asked for a side of their creamy seafood sauce(think the white sauce you get with Teppan) and I really recommend you doing the same. It is a very nice accompaniment to the garlic spice and perfect on rice. My husband had the Yakiniku Steak, which is a Korean style Rib-Eye. Though it was very tender and seasoned just as it should be(I lived in Koreatown, trust me), my Filet was better. I will let him Unilocal his experence for himself. Please give this place a chance, I think it is an asset to Savannah cuisine that should not be overlooked.

The location is great, the décor is interesting, the food is only ordinary, and the service is execrable . We went on a Sunday night. Seasons wasn’t crowded at all. But the service was glacial — — for drinks, for water, for food. The food took forever and arrived at the table lukewarm. And had it been warm, it still would only have been mediocre. There are good restaurants in Savannah. Seasons Asian Bistro is not one of them.

Good food– a little pricey(the sushi) — I still suggest Sushi Zen… over Seasons.

I visited Savannah for the first time three years ago with a small group of friends and stumbled upon Seasons Asian Bistro after a disappointing dining experience the night before at ever-popular(why?) Lady & Sons. Needless to say, it recovered our poor dining experiences in Savannah for us, and we’ve made it a regular stop on our yearly trips to Savannah. There wasn’t a long wait and the food and atmosphere were perfect for a romantic setting or for a small group of friends to talk and laugh. We were lucky enough to be seated«on the floor,» a raised bamboo floor area in which the tables are set down into. This«feel» made for an exceptional experience on top of the quality(and reasonably priced) bottles of wine and exceptional Asian cuisine. Whenever I hear of someone going to Savannah, I quickly recommend Seasons Asian Bistro and advise against The Lady & Sons.

I walked into this place looking for a) Thai food and b) an escape from the Savannah heat & humidity. It provided both, as well as c) delicious food and b) friendly, attentive service. I had the vegetable curry clay pot with tofu(8.95), which was delicious, but not quite as spicy as I wanted, until the waitress came and asked me if it was spicy enough, and when I said not really brought me some chili oil. That made it even better. Oh, and for starters I had the Thai spring rolls, two morsels of deep friend delight(2.95). Mmm-mmm good. The music was relaxing, new-agey Asian stuff, the art on the walls was great impressionist paintings of various Malaysian scenery. It’s the first time I’ve ever contemplated paying $ 3200 for a painting. And my waitress? Pretty, with a radiant smile(I’m not kidding OR exaggerating). Very attentive and friendly. If I’m ever back in Savannah, I’ll definitely eat here again.

Great place to get sushi and pineapple fried rice(it comes in an empties pinapple bowl). I also recommend trying their specialty coconut drink. It’s great! Plus, the restaurant is really fun. You get to take off your shoes and sit at little tables that have a sunken middle to put your feet.
