Where else can you enjoy a $ 38 filet and have your dog resting at your feet? The ambiance is old European and as the sun set, the wall sconces on the rustic stucco dimly lit the courtyard. My $ 17 per glass Frank family Cabernet was wonderful and the French onion soup was exactly how it should be, beefy-flavored onions with a little bread and lots of toasted cheese. My husbands sea bass was luke warm and tasteless, he kicked it around the plate and helped me with my filet. We decided not to complain and here’s why… when the dinner plates are set in front of you and one is bad, you have to wait till the server returns, wait for them to make it right and all the while the good plate of food is getting cooler by the second. Plus complaining just casts a shadow over the entire dinner and sometimes you just can’t recuperate the limited special time you have to enjoy the meal.

Superb food, service and physical plant. Our server, Gary, was marvelous. We went on Valentine’s Day and the experience was sublime. It was like dining in Paris. Bananas Foster prepared table side. What a hoot! Don’t miss it.

Walking into Rene’s, the ambiance was charming and we were cheerfully greeted by the manager who graciously sat us in the patio. After reviewing the menu, we selected a Monte Cristo Sandwich followed by 2 incredibly tasty salads. I probably would have given them 5 stars because all dishes were delicious; however they were a bit inflexible on our request to add quinoa to the salad of our preference. We ended up having to pay full fare for two separate salads. Nonetheless, we would definitely come back again!

Don’t bother. Just left there after waiting over 15 minutes for 1 of 3 waiters serving just 3 tables to show up.

Excellent food in a beautiful setting. Wine list has a broad range and reasonably priced. I had the filet, which was done to perfection. Everyone’s dish was great and the service was extremely professional. Attentive but not on top of you.

We loved Rene and it was the best dinner experience we had in Sedona. We come from a very wine/foodie area in CA and honestly struggled to find places we enjoyed while visiting, but we stumbled upon Rene one night while walking around the Tlaquepaque. Great service. Delicious food. Good wine list. I started with a custom wine flight that I loved! Normally you don’t get to customize your flight, but here you could. Great idea. I decided on the Frank Family Cab(definitely enjoy that while you’re there). For food, I’m unfortunately not remembering the details(it’s not a reflection on the food, it’s just me), but we started with a soup and it was smooth and delicious. My husband and I shared entrees… I got a ravioli dish with white truffle and my husband got a steak. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I do remember ending with a chevre cheesecake(thank you photo on phone)…amazing. Creamy and decadent with mango chopped on top. The service was impeccable. Perfect timing, polite, knowledgable, and formal. I highly recommend Rene because if you are going to spend money, it should be a wonderful experience and we received that here.

Great place! We didn’t have a reservation but we were welcomed in and were seated at a wonderful booth! We got a few wine tastings, which was fun. For appetizers, the quail was good and the mushrooms Neptune were amazing. For entrees — the Chilean sea bass was not that flavorful but the duck was great. We had gelato for dessert. All around 4⁄5 stars. Great place!!!

Prime rib was very good. Sauce was very good for prime rib, they doled it out like we were on weightwatchers. We had to ask for extra cranberry sauce. Fish stuffed with crab was dry and had no taste, like it was frozen for months, even the waiter agreed it looked dry. Chocolate molten cake was missing the molten in the center. The Xmas dinner with two glasses of wine cost us $ 240 for two people, definitely not worth the price! Ridiculous, portions rather small, no glutton free bread. What were we thinking! Service was good and the waiter was nice. Food was yummy though, and waiter brought replacement dish right away when asked no problem.

Lovely romantic atmosphere– perfect for our anniversary dinner. The service was second to none. Out water was topped of regularly, and fresh bread was offered every few minutes. We ordered the French onion soup as an appetizer. It was perfectly done(and I don’t even usually like French onion soup). For our entrée we ordered the lamb for two. Wow. So tender, it melts in your mouth. And I loved the mango chutney that came with it. For dessert we had to have the crème brûlée. Wonderful ending to a great meal. This restaurant was pricey. But if you want to splurge for a date night, I highly recommend.

Low quality food for the expensive price, at least for lunch. Do yourself a favor and go to L’Auberge instead.

Our yoga instructor from the Amara spoke very highly of this place. Trusting her recommendation, we came here and tried their roasted red pepper hummus, which was fantastic!!! Their pita bread chips were so soft and still warm and the hummus was so full of flavor! Be sure to ask for extra bread or dinner rolls if you run out of pita chips; you don’t want to waste any of that hummus!!! We also split the falafel, which was also incredibly tasty! We were so pleasantly surprised with how flavorful and well-presented everything was! You can tell the chef truly cares about his/her food!!! Everything was excellent! Michael was our server. He did tend to come to our table a bit more than we had hoped, so we felt a bit pressured into ordering a little more quickly than we would have liked, but we also understand that he probably just didn’t want us to feel like he wasn’t very attentive, so we weren’t upset at all. He had so many great recommendations for wine and things to do! Soooo many great ideas! Pick his brain if you’re wanting ideas on things to do!!! He’s full of them! Would most definitely dine here again, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone in the area!!!

We came after an unpleasant experience at another restaurant where we didn’t feel welcome. Rene welcomed us with open arms. We got a table outside on a pleasant night. Kathy the hostess was wonderful. Our waitress was knowledgeable, the menu was small and varied, and the wine list was expansive. We ordered and we wanted a house salad. The waitress recommended a salad not on the menu and it was amazing. Great ingredients, great dressings. Entrees were fantastic. Steaks were perfect. Fish was good. Spaghetti squash wonderful. Solomon was playing at the bar with quiet jazz with his wife singing. Just a wonderful experience.

My wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant on a Sunday evening while looking for somewhere good to eat dinner. Neither of us has spent much time in Sedona and Rene wasn’t listed in any of the restaurant guides we looked at, so it was a risky proposition, but we’re lucky to have found this little gem in Tlaquepaque. The antelope carpaccio was fantastic as an appetizer. After that, I had the scallops(they were nicely seared and the prickly pear glaze was just prickly-pear-y enough) and my wife had the truffle and porcini ravioli, which she loved. In short, I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s on the pricier side, but the food and service are definitely worth it!

Rene has almost what it takes to be a great restaurant. It is centrally located in one of the more exclusive shopping areas of Sedona, it sports a romantic old European style motif. The service is impeccable with both friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. This is the kind of place where presentation is a large part of the menu price. Unfortunately, the entrées were unexciting lean toward down right pedestrian. The Wild mushroom salad fresh was flavorless, so much so that we decided to return it to the kitchen. The explanation we got was that the idea behind the salad was to enjoy the wild mushrooms. Ok the mushroom are wild, but does that necessarily mean they are so flavorful as to carry the dish with not much other seasonings? Not this one. Following up on the salad was the Tenderloin of Antelope. It was well plated, reminding me of a crown or birthday cake. 4 half spears and 3 snap pea topped a log of mash potatoes with 3 medallion size cuts of Antelope. Definitely not for one who had been on a hike all day and ready for a feast. The medallions of Antelope was lightly seasoned and tender. I would have preferred it to have more of a grilled texture rather than the oven roasted prime rib style texture that it was served with. The mash potato was good but it was just mash potatoes. The same goes for the asparagus and snap pea — simply blanched with a light, I think, olive oil coating. Again rather an unimaginative dish. The highlight of our dinner was the escargot. Well season with not too much garlic just a hint of wine. Rene was also able to offer a great cup of decaf expresso and a fairly decent Crème Brulee — though I prefer my Crème Brulee with a texture a bit more like custard rather than pudding. All in as it as a good dinner but at these prices it has to be just a bit more than that. Next time? Sure it is definitely worth giving another chance.

Renee’s is located in the middle of Tlaquepaque, a cute little french restaurant. They have outdoor seating that shares a courtyard with a few galleries. If you allow yourself(read, ignore the tourists and desert sun), you can easily imagine yourself in a Parisian side street. Adding to the atmosphere, the food is incredible. I had the Mahi Mahi wraps while my wife ordered the Monte Cristo – both phenomenal. Like most French restaurants, the price leans to the expensive side while the portion sizes run a little small. But do not be discouraged, Rene’s is well worth it in culinary goodness and yet still provides a fully satisfying meal. We ate here after hiking 8 miles and I left content not bloated(something I rarely manage at restaurants that serve food this good). While I ordered only water(a result of the hike), I couldn’t help but peruse their wine list. It’s pretty extensive and they have something for everyone. I certainly found a few bottles I would have liked to order given a different day.

We started with a cheese plate paired with the Scott Family Chardonnay. Bread was warm and lightly buttered, wonderful with the cheese and a glass of wine. I had a chicken salad croissant which was great! And for dessert the goat cheesecake is amazing! Service was great our waiter Mike knew the wine menu really well and he was on top of everything. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Our dinner at Rene’s was one of the highlights of our trip to Sedona. We sat on the beautiful patio and thoroughly enjoyed ourself. We had great service! We got a little chilly and hey happily turned on a heater for us which made it perfect. I had the mushroom strudel which was delicious(as long as you like mushrooms) it came with carrots and asparagus. I also has the crème brûlée which was good but nothing out of the ordinary. We will definitely be going back next time we are in town!

I had the pleasure of dining at Rene for lunch last weekend with my Mother In Law and a family friend. The location was chosen based on my Mother In Law’s memory of a fabulous dessert, but more on that later. We were seated outside, and the weather was perfect for a patio lunch. We all started with soup; French Onion for two of us, Tomato Bisque for the third. I don’t know if I’ve ever had a French Onion soup where I truly enjoyed the croûton inside, and this was no different. The onions, broth and cheese were tasty though, and I ate those parts of the soup from around the bread. For lunch, I split the chicken salad croissant with one of my partners in lunch. They happily split the order onto two plates for us, and just half a sandwich was a perfect quantity after the soup. The chicken salad was good, and the croissant was light, fluffy and buttery. I also appreciated the array of fruit served on the side, which consisted of more than your typical melon medley. Our server managed to deduce which dessert my Mother In Law was remembering so fondly, and brought her out a slice of the famed pecan pie. I tried the cheesecake, and our friend had the flourless chocolate cake. All three were presented beautifully on a plate garnished with dessert sauces, and they did not disappoint int in flavor. My cheesecake, made of goats cheese, was super creamy and topped with sweet fruit. I wouldn’t call this the end-all, be-all of lunches(and my Sprite was a tad flat) but it was quite good. We all left full and satisfied! I would certainly return if I’m in Tlaquepaque again.

In terms of fine dining, this is probably the best place you can go in Sedona. The lighting is dim and perfect if you’re looking for a romantic setting. They start seating people at 5:30pm exactly, but if you’re early you can grab drinks at the bar. Service is courteous and not to be rushed. According to our waiter, the four dishes that on their menu since 1977 are the Chicken Picatta, Cedar Plank Salmon, True Dover Sole, and Roasted Duck. To start off, they gave us each a delicious, warm, and soft sourdough roll. Appetizer: English Pea Griddle Cakes — These tasted like nothing more than pancakes made out of peas. They tasted great with the garlicy tomato basil relish, which was kind of like a salsa. Because they cakes are made out of peas, they are somewhat grittier, but I think that just adds to the texture. Entrée: Roasted Duck(Wild Rice and Mushroom Cake, Sun-dried Cherry Sauce) — The duck thigh for this dish is large. There was lots of meat, but I enjoyed the tart, juicy cherries and glaze more than the meat itself. I wish there was more. Second best part was the mushroom risotto cake. Nice that it comes with fresh carrots and asparagus for added fiber into the dish. Cedar Plank Salmon — On the unmemorable side. The salmon was lean and had none of the tender fattiness that I like in salmon. Steak Au-Poivre(Filet of tenderloin coated with cracked black pepper and cognac demi-glacé) — The steak is the same cut as the filet mignon. Only difference is the sauce. For this steak, I thought the peppercorns overpowered the flavor of the meat. Otherwise it was an excellent cut of meat, made more juicy became we ordered it rare. Spaghetti Squash Primavera(Spaghetti squash sauté with tricolor peppers, carrots, celery, zuchinni, asparagus and edamame, manchego cheese) — Spaghetti squash was not worth the price. It’s just a vegetable medley of relatively cheap vegetables. It was added onto the menu to make it more vegetarian friendly. There’s not much flavor. Vegetables were crispy though. Dessert: Pecan Chocolate Pie — Loved this. Lots of nuts and delicious crust. It comes with whipped cream and a white chocolate sauce drizzled with milk chocolate. Order this if you have a sweet tooth. Crème brûlée — I didn’t try this because I don’t really do creamy, but my family enjoyed it. Verdict was it was extremely creamy, maybe almost too creamy. Eggless Panna Cotta — This supposedly had passion fruit in it, but there was not much passion fruit flavor. It had a nice tart blueberry sauce on top. This dessert was favorite among family.
