I have been coming to The Mint since I was a kid(about 30 years). The steaks are super high quality, and nothing beats the Texas toast on the grill with some butter and garlic, or the free and awesome salad bar. The only way this place can get a bad review is if the person can’t work a grill and overcooks their meat. Plus, even if you aren’t a steak cooking pro, there are guides with timeframes posted on the wall that are easy to follow. Word to the wise — if you want to save a few bucks, don’t bother with the sides. After a huge piece of meat, bread, and salad, I doubt you will be regretting not buying more food.

This is a wonderful place the staff here is amazing! Excellent service, food is outrageously good, out of this world! For you idiots that aren’t willing to cook your own food, don’t come here!

Great dinner. We had 2 aged NY strips that we cooked over a grill via instructions from the butcher. Turned out GREAT. Good salad bar. Potatoes excell. Texas toast a pain in the ass to try to grill.

I thought that this restaurant lived up to the hype. Great service. Great selection on meat! Super fun cooking with the family. The only thing I would ask further is that the salad bar include something like potato or macaroni salad. Just a personal preference though. If you go check out for a good coupon option.

Thank you to the amazing staff for always taking care of us!

Always excellent beef. You can never complain to the chef about how it’s prepared as you cook it yourself. Very Good Salad Bar is included with the price. They do have some fish and shrimp as well as red meat. I really like the atmosphere as well as the food. Some days they have a Prime Rib Special. Reservations recomended if you want the Prime Rib. You can see that in their ad in the local(free) daily paper.

Fan-freaking-tastic. Service was stellar, the concept of cooking your own entrée is neat, and WOW what an entrée! My wife & I stopped in this past weekend after a day skiing at Keystone. I’d read about it beforehand and knew I wanted to visit while we were out that way, and it did not disappoint. We both had the filet mignon(last two they had on hand, one of them had to be brought out from the back, in fact). I’m somewhat experienced on the grill, but would no way consider myself a grill MASTER. however, the meat has a lot to do with the end product and this meat was GOOOOD. So good in fact, that my wife is claiming it to be the best filet mignon she’s ever had. We also got a side order of steamed broccoli, which while not fancy was nicely prepared and had a nice subtle butteriness without being drown in it. The salad bar is also not fancy, but it’s what a salad bar should be, a lettuce mix, a variety of toppings and dressing options. No other miscellaneous crap, no pasta salads, jellos, or other weirdness, just salad stuff. Perfect. It’s included, and unlimited. Also at the end of the salad bar is very thickly sliced bread and a large crock of butter — butter up some bread, take it over to the grill and toss some garlic powder on it, bam, instant garlicky ‘texas toast’ — delish. Cool laid-back feel, in a historic building. Our server was very attentive, and the experience was great. I’m sure we’ll be back at some point. I hate to say it, because personally I feel it diminishes the value of the place somewhat, but I can see this being a hipster favorite.(I feel dirty just saying so…)

Please don’t waste a dinner out on this place. Perhaps Rex had a few drinks before writing his review. It’s old and and has potential, but when only 3 tables come through during prime dinner time on Sunday evening, it’s obvious this concept is not working. The staff were friendly, but I had to go ask for our check because the server didn’t come back. The food. Well, the salad bar was nice and very traditional, down to the 1000 Island dressing. The meats offered were nice, quality, but mostly plain. The sides were extra. So, you pay $ 14.95 for a plain, raw chicken breast, no sides. Just salad. I cooked my plain chicken breast with the option of a few spices. Or Teriyaki glaze. That’s it. If you can’t tell, we were all disappointed. I prepare meats better at home. Sorry, but I just don’t see The Mint staying in business long. The competition in Summit Co is too fierce.

What happened to this place from when I Iast came in the 90’s? It’s a cool concept of cooking your own steak on the grill after a long day on the slopes. However I’m not a steak connoisseur by any means and I can’t cook a good medium rare steak if my life depended on it. I ended cooking my steak medium well; which was fine but I’d rather have someone cook it for me. The salad bar was; eh — they used bacon bits instead of real bacon :( I love the experience; sorta like the melting pot concept, but this place needs a facelift or something. The place was empty when we came which should have tipped us off.

This is a really fun restaurant — my kids loved it. They have a delicious salad bar and you have the opportunity to cook your steak just like you like it. The only downside is that it is pretty expensive. However, you get free unlimited salad bar and Texas toast. That helps with purchasing sides. :)

This place is outstanding! My wife and I have recently moved to Summit County and the dining scene has been mediocre at best. After a friend suggested we try the Mint, we figured that we had nothing to lose. Our gamble paid off with dividends! From the moment we walked in the door the superior customer service began. De made us feel right at home with a well-poured drink and a warm Summit County smile. Then, it was Christians turn. We were ‘educated’ on the house grill and a few other insights that turned us into grill masters! Fabulous food, superior service and now, new friends are what have solidified The Mint as, our spot! Thanks again De and Christian! Luci and Dane

If I wanted to cook my own steak then I would buy a piece of meat and cook it on my own grill. I will say that the waiter was very friendly though.

1. You pay inflated prices for an unseasoned steak that you have to cook yourself. 2. There are kids everywhere putting their hands all over the salad bar and Texas toast. 3. The place is old but it is literally falling apart.

I just don’t get this place. Why would I want to cook my own steak? I do that at home. And it’s not clear from these reviews or the website that it’s cook your own food. For twice what I would pay at the butcher shop. Just don’t get it. Waiter was rude because we had a hard time understanding the cook your own food at first. Would never go again but it it’ll be fun to crack jokes for the next few years to who’s ever in the car with me as I drive thru Dillon about the time I paid $ 30 to cook my own steak.

Horrible dining experience! Came here on my birthday. After finding out I had to make my own steak(probably not a good idea to let me cook anything lol), I couldn’t get too mad because we were passing through and probably should’ve known if I were local??? However, then we met the waiter, who was practically sweeping us out the door the moment we sat down. My boyfriend told him it was my birthday and we were all excited about having some good steak. The waiter didn’t seem to care much and he gave us the run down real quickly. Then I found out I had to make my own salad too, which is OK but I kind of wanted to sit and relax. After very vague direction, we wandered up to the meat counter/cooler case and I was kind of shocked at how much one steak was. We informed him(another person behind the counter who was more concerned about hanging out with his buddies behind the bar) we were going to split one and my boyfriend decided to just get the shrimp skewer(the cheapest thing in the case) and the guy got all mad and kind of made us feel embarrassed because we didn’t get 2 steaks! He said he had to charge us for an extra salad bar fee? It was an awkward moment. Needless to say, my steak turned out terrible because I am not a great cook and by the time I asked for help it was too late. The fries I ordered were hard(I didn’t have to cook them) and they never once acknowledged that is was my birthday. The bathroom didn’t even have stall doors it was a curtain that sat in my lap! I didn’t like that. We paid way too much for what we got… The waiter hurried us out from start to finish. I was kind of upset when I left. :( Had to have another birthday dinner the next night to make up for it!!! I will not be returning ever!!!

After me and my family go snowboarding we are wiped out and go to look to kill some time for traffic to clear. We spot Mints. We give the place a shot with our family of 7. We were surprised we had to cook our own steaks. Decide to give it a shot, you’re thinking if the food is good? Well of course! I cooked it. So if we cook then you’d think the service would be better since no one is cooking your food… we had to wave down our waiter a few times for his attention. The price was sky high when I can go to Costco and do the same thing for $ 100 cheaper. So because they only had small 10oz steaks we decided to split them for the 2 youngest kids. They charge us a extra $ 5 because of that. I’m sorry but for a big family and paid $ 200 for something I had to cook don’t charge us for something trivial. We don’t eat out often we never pay that much. I’m shocked. We should have just got up and left.

Absolutely amazing service. Go see D at the bar who was extremely accommodating and the food was great. Our server Brad was very good and helped us get set up at the grill where we will grilled our own ribeyes and strips. We were very impressed!

If you are looking for fine dinning and someone to cook your food for you, you are in the wrong place. The Mint is in a historic building and guess what it looks old and beat up on the inside. That’s what gives it, its charm. Its pretty awesome to be honest. Grab a plate and hit the salad bar. Grab another and hit it twice or three times. Big ass pieces of toast that you can grill up and make Texas Toast on the grill. Head up to the counter and pick the slab of meat you want and cook it on the grill while chatting other friendly people sipping on a drink. Sounds good right! Where else can you get a box of Mac & Cheese as a side. I’d love to see some good pork chop cuts and more options to season your meat with at or on the grill.

The Mint is what it is, essentially a theme restaurant. The theme is grill whatever the hell you want, but yeah, you’re the one doing the grilling. The real question is does this appeal to you? For me, the answer is a clear yes. I love grilling my steak on the giant grill. I love getting it exactly the way I want, I love seasoning, I love marinating, I love rotating. I just think it’s an awesome idea. I like making my own Texas toast. I like getting an extra pan to make grilled vegetables. Pro-tip, with a little ingenuity a baked potato can become potato skins. I think the quality of the ingredients is high, and everything comes out tasty. I don’t consider this work or being forced to do my own cooking, It’s essentially a steak fantasy camp. The service was friendly, if a bit frazzled. The restaurant is called historic, so the fact that it feels dated isn’t a surprise. It could probably be freshened up a bit without losing the historic character. I guess it’s the difference between something feeling antique and just seeming old. Still, The Mint is a unique experience and if that appeals to you, don’t hesitate. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

The Mint has as very unique concept in terms of the American dinning experience. You choose the type of meat you want and you get to cook it yourself. In many Asian cultures this type of arrangement is quite common. One might ask, what’s the point of going to a restaurant when you have to cook it yourself. The answer to that question is simple, it’s about the experience. Going out to a restaurant does not only encompass the joy of the food itself but also the experience. So, if you were ever interested in grilling, the Mint is a fun way to experience it without having to buy a grill. Step 1 — you choose your choice of meat which ranges from new york strip, rib eye(my personal choice of meat), chicken, to fillet Mignon. Depending on the cut and size you order will determine the price. The higher cuts of meat being more expensive while the lower cuts of meat being cheaper. The prices are between the meat you buy at the local store and your steakhouse restaurants. Step 2 — Grill your meat. This is where all the magic happens. The restaurant has a very large rectangular shape open grill that is shared by all the customers. There are your normal seasonings like salt and pepper, but also butter and teriyaki flavor to season your meat. I personally prefer dry rubs when it comes to grilling steak. The most important part of grilling is the temperature. The grill has different temperature points so you have to be mindful of whether there is too much or too little heat because you wouldn’t want to burn your steak. Step 3: This the easiest of them all. You get to enjoy eating your steak. Sides do not come with your steak, they come with a charge. However, there is a complimentary salad bar that comes with the meal. Overall, the Mint is a fun place for the family and for those who are looking for a different dinning experience.
