Today was my first time eating here. I had the tri-tip burrito & added guac. Total with a drink was almost 11 $. Hardly any meat in the burrito. 90percent beans and rice. What little meat it did contain was good. Burrito was huge but still not worth the $ I spent. Real nice guy working the counter.

Hubby and I went for a drive around the lake and somehow ended up in truckee! Hungry for lunch we thought we’d check this place out and try something new. Food was ok(not amazing, but did taste like home cooking), and the prices were good. If we end up back there again we’ll definitely be trying this place again!

The few times I’ve been to Bill’s were pleasant enough, the food was okay, however… the second to last time I was there with my boyfriend, he asked if he could have a burrito without the flour tortilla substituted for a handful of extra chips. The young guy running the register was very accommodating and it was no problem at all. A few days later, we went back and Bill himself was running the register. My boyfriend made the same request and was met with immediate opposition. Bill was going to charge us for a basket of chips and my boyfriend said, just forget it, i dont need any extra chips… Bill said ‘okay boss, have it your way.’ we ate our food and my boyfriend wrote a note on a piece of paper that read: ‘golden rotisserie will be getting all of my local business from now on, and i will be letting people know how i was treated.’ when we left, he taped it inside the front window and as we were pulling out of the parking space, Bill grabbed the note and came outside, threatening us and yelling at us. He was pretty upset and I felt physically in danger. He also insulted my boyfriend by calling him a ‘faggot’. If this is how you run a business, then have at it… but we will NOT be going back. I also noticed that the bathroom is filthy.

Had dinner at this restaurant this evening The restaurant was rather on the warm side The tri-tip was not very good tough and should’ve been cut much thinner The rotisserie chicken we had was very good though Pleasant staff. Very large restaurant we were there midweek and there were not many customers there.

I was hungry and hit this place up before heading to my motel. I ordered a tri-tip burrito at the drive through and was really disappointed. The burrito was mostly beans with only a little bit of rice and just a few pieces of meat, and it was all really salty. I wont be going back

When i think rotisserie i think hofbrau. In these parts it’s generally a Mexican style preparation. Bill’s does the later; chicken a few ways, tri tip and Mexican staples too. Got both meats and some beans and such for the sides. Pretty good though there were spot instances of dryness. I think you have to case out when things come fresh off when it’s going to be best. They just dont do the pure volume where there’s something coming off hot all the time

I’ve purchased the family combo meal 3 times and it’s excellent every time. After a long day of skiing, I stop here and purchase the family meal to go. It comes with a whole chicken, taco ingredients, beans, coleslaw, rice and salsas for only $ 20! It feeds 4 people and is very authentic.

I love this place. Friendly counter staff, and incredible chili rellano burritos on Fridays. I recommend any of the burritos, especially the pork. It is one of those more Americanized mexican places, but in this case that isn’t a bad thing.

I should have avoided this place like the plague. It was dirty, unmopped and worse yet, I ordered the tri-tip plate and I’m not sure what meat they actually served. If you could taste dirty socks, then that’s close to describing the smell, looks and taste of the meat. Workers were nice enough but that can’t compensate for waste of money.

Ordered take out of the«Family Pack» — one whole chicken, corn tortillas, salsa, and three side. Delicious! Chicken was a bit small but it still fed our family of five with no leftovers. Did I mention the whole meal cost $ 20. DEAL! Ambience is non-existent, but I would order take out again in a heartbeat.

Best burritos, beers, and prices around. The tri-tip is particularly good and they wrap the burritos in a way that allows them to travel very well. I’ve been known to grab a few extra for freezing and reheating. I just wished they opened earlier so you could pickup lunch before going skiing.

This place has nice staff and edible food. I tried the half pound Tri-tip with double Spanish Rice and garlic Bread. The meat was tender but a little under Marinated but good. The Rice was ok and the Garlic bread is ok. This with a Drink Was $ 13 three stars because of general food for any mood

Best burritos in town so far. They are big and chock full of goodness. The pork and chicken are good, but the tri-tip is where it’s at. Got their family deal the other day and it was OK — got the honey/soy/lime chicken. Skins were a little burned, but the meat was good and the sides(coleslaw and beans) were tasty. Going to try the Mayan next time. Be sure to ask for a whole chicken. For full disclosure I’ve always gotten drive thru so no opinion on dining in there.

We were on our way to the lake yesterday and wanted to stop at Subway for sandwiches. The line was a mile long in there and we glanced across the parking lot of the strip mall and saw this place. We decided to give it a go and I am glad we did. Be advised, the ambiance is zero. But the food sure makes up for it. I had the Mayan Rotisserie chicken, which came with a decent cucumber salad, black beans, and tortillas(you can choose from a list of sides). My buddy had a tri-tip burrito which he gave a thumbs up. I wasnt expecting much going in the door but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The folks at the counter were friendly and accommodating. Well worth a stop if you are in Truckee and hungry.

I can’t make out this joint. Mexican or Rotisserie or BBQ? Kind of elements from all of them combined into a local fast food joint. We got take-out here, ordered 2 family packs with both kinds of chicken and all of the sides. The chicken flavors were very subtle. It was hard to decipher which chicken was which. To top it off, both were on the dry side. The sides were good, I like how they have the cucumber salad, good coleslaw, good potato salad, and salsa were really nice. It was cool to combine everything into tacos too… not really a Mexican dish altogether, but pretty nice flavors to combine. We got takeout, so hard to comment on it, but the ambiance of this place is pretty drab. Just think fast food restaurant. I think if this restaurant really concentrated on being known for a specialty, then they could be much more successful, but their menu is all over the map. I may try them again, but won’t expect gourmet at all…

We ordered take out from here for a larger group that just got in to town, and it was a nice surprise how good it was. We ordered a family meal with a whole rotisserie chicken with a side of rice, cucumber salad, and beans. The chicken was exceptional, and I wish we ordered two for the group. We also ordered a bunch of pork soft tacos, which were also very tasty. The chips were good, the guacamole was okay — the only thing that really wasn’t that great. All three families loved the meal, even the kids!

So we stopped in here over the weekend. I was satisfied with the tri-tip burrito but was disappointed I didn’t get to enjoy much for chips and salsa. I got literally 5 tortilla chips with my burrito. The burrito was large and filling but only 5 chips, c’mon. What kind of mexican place only gives you 5 chips? The girlfriend had their chicken tostada plate which she liked, she got maybe 8 chips tossed on top of her tostada plate right in the sour cream and guac. Overall, the price will keep others coming back here, however, I will look elsewhere next time I’m in Truckee.

I checked Unilocal while in Truckee. I didn’t want a chain restaurant, I wanted something locally owned. Bill’s Rotisserie came up with some great reviews, so I decided to give them a try. I ordered the Tri Tip & Chicken combo plate with a side of coleslaw, cucumber salad and corn tortillas with homemade hot sauce. It was less than $ 10. The tri tip meat was tender, juicy and perfectly marinated. The chicken was falling off the bone with the perfect amount of marinade. The coleslaw and cucumber salad were homemade and delicious. The hot sauce… Holy Crap!!! That was some REALLY hot, homemade sauce. It was AWESOME! Make sure you have a lot to drink if you get the hot sauce. Everything is made fresh in front of you and you see them taking the chicken off of the rotisserie that they put on your place. This place is authentic and it is awesome. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be going back!
