This location used to be owned by my uncle, and then it was delicious pizza. I used to go here quite often, not just because it was owned by family, but because the pizza was actually pretty good. You can taste the freshness in the pizza, and the pizza wasn’t too oily. Their king-kong size pizza was massive, and is great for parties. They aren’t super pricey so it is still better than getting the major pizza brands. It’s a small and welcoming place with decent pizza. I suggest it a try!

Sadly, the place has closed down I remember always coming here after school getting pizza for only 3.50 and it would fill me up. People dont understand that theres only 1 person that works here and they miss the entire point that this is a good place to eat

I was in the area. Had a thin slice of NY style cheese pizza. It was $ 1.99 a slice. Let me repeat that, it was $ 1.99 a slice. It didn’t taste bad at all, I actually thought it was decent. Also, did I mention it was $ 1.99 a slice? I don’t get why people attack the«décor» or location, I guess some people are expecting the Ritz. I mean come on, a giant slice of cheese is $ 1.99. Would come back and will. 4 Stars. $ 1.99

Actual Rating: 3.5 Stars I’ve been waiting to review this place for awhile(I used to go here regularly when I worked at Union City Library years ago). My wife and I had some time to kill(we were stuck in a long car wash line– we were finally on our way after 35 minutes), and so I bought 2 slices of pizza today. The negative reviews for this place are fairly groundless(a lot of eateries in the area have come and gone in recent years, but New Yorker Pizza has been around since 1988). Yes, there are better pizza places(ex: Fat Slice), but the pizza here is pretty good. My cashier wasn’t super friendly, but he was more than adequate. He even asked me if I wanted the slices to be in separate boxes. There’s a small condiment area on the right, but I didn’t take advantage of it. I’m not docking for this, but it would have been nice if the cashier gave me some napkins(we used the remaining ones in the glove compartment). The cashier I often saw in the past was very friendly, and I believe he’s still around. Everything is made fresh(there are never more than 2 employees around), so expect to wait 5 – 10 minutes for your food(our slices were ready in 8 minutes– we still had time to kill, and so we ate them in the car). A man and his son came in, but they left after a minute. They were in a hurry and wanted sandwiches more than pizza. Great Hours: Sun-Thur 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Fri 10 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sat 11 a.m.-11 p.m. The seating capacity is 28(there are 7 tables– 2 are joined together). The pizza box labels should be fixed. On the right side it says, «We Delivery.» Come on, guys. On the plus side, there’s free delivery(this is what the labels should state). I believe the delivery charge for Pizza Hut and Domino’s Pizza is $ 2.50(Round Table Pizza tacks on a delivery charge too). When I had pizza delivered in the past, it only took about 20 minutes(my parents live about 10 minutes away). 2 framed images of New York are on the right wall(one of them features the Statue of Liberty). Otherwise, the ambiance is minimal(it also smells inside a little). I believe that this place would make a better impression if it was given a makeover. The slices really are«Jumbo»(they’re about 3 times the size of a normal slice of pizza). The sizes range from 8″-24″(it’s true that a King Kong is the«biggest pizza in town»). A Large is only 14″(I remember when a large pizza at most pizza places was 16″). Most King Kong pizzas are about $ 35 with tax. Most Large pizzas are about $ 18. There are 14 specialty pizzas to choose from(ex: The New Yorker– it has 5 types of meat; Ocean’s Delight– shrimp, mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers; Foresta– pepperoni, salami, and fresh garlic; Helena– pepperoni, artichokes, and extra cheese), and 26 toppings(ex: bacon; sausage; anchovies; shrimp; extra sauce; beef pepperoni; barbecue chicken; pineapple; red onions; beef). Some Prices: You can buy an 8″ pizza with up to 7 toppings for only $ 5. Spicy Chicken Wings: 6 pieces for $ 3.99, 12 for $ 6.99. Garlic Cheesy Bread: $ 4.99. Ranch Dipping Sauce is $.50. Calzones, Mozzarella Sticks, and Jalapeño Poppers are also sold here. It’s better to buy a whole pizza than a slice. For some reason, these slices just taste better(this is the case with the Blondie’s in Berkeley too). There are a number of specials(ex: 10% off an Extra Large Specialty Pizza; Large 3-Topping Pizza for $ 9.99– pick up only). There are 3 video game machines inside(Street Fighter II isn’t working right now, probably because I kicked it harder than Ryu ever could– ). There’s also a mini pinball machine and a candy machine(it dispenses 4 types of candy). I’ve never used it, but the bathroom is in the very back. Note: All prices include tax. $ 4.91: If you buy a Gyros Sandwich(there are 2 options), you receive a Small Drink for free. Slice of Cheese Pizza($ 2.17): 8⁄10. Slices are $ 1.99 + tax, but of course you’re charged extra for toppings. My wife liked her slice, and it took her about 10 minutes to finish. Slice of Pepperoni & Linguica Pizza($ 3.71): 8.25÷10. I have always liked the linguica here(the pepperoni is fine), and my slice was cheesy and loaded with toppings. The pizza here was a tad better in the past(the pizza crust is too crunchy now). Still, it’s worth trying, and the prices and service here are also pretty good.

I don’t know where to start. As long as I can remember(growing up in Union City) this place has been open for business and was offering a slice of cheese for $ 1.99. I(we) use to hang out there after school mostly because it and was cheap and we would play the arcades games. At that time I thought it was the best pizza ever but I was young ignorant and untraveled. Now that I’m older and have been to New York and I realize just how mediocre this place and pizza is. The service is fine; the guy that works there has worked there for 20 plus years(I’m pretty sure he does not own the place). Once in a great while when visiting friends or family in Union City I have to get a slice to remind me of the old days.

The original pizza by the slice joint in Union City. A great value for a 1 topping King Kong slice and a drink at about 5 dollars. Dining area is clean and the décor is moderate. The bathroom is in the very back and a bit sketchy when the rear entrance is open, so don’t forget to lock the door behind you. Nothing to spectacular if you’re into that fancy smancy style of pizza, but If you’re starving and don’t want to spend so much on a quick bite to eat, this is the place.

Came here with the boy to pick up a large cheese pizza for his grandmother. Super cheap, but you get what you pay for. Even Sriracha couldn’t make this pizza good enough for me to eat more than a few bites. Not coming back.

The pizza is cheap, but it is also gross. i will not go back and will in fact travel to Milpitas to get The Pizza Box before I would return here.

OMG, they call that pizza!!! I can bake a better pizza myself! Their boneless chicken wings were terrible too. Never going back there again. I advise the owner to read the comments on Unilocal and make some drastic improvements. I wouldn’t even give them one star but I guess I have to give at least one star on Unilocal

It’s been over 10 years since I’ve been here, and I can honestly it still hits the spot. $ 4.95 for a ridiculously large slice of pizza and a soda will always be a good deal to me. Just don’t eat it right away since it’ll come out so hot that you WILL melt the insides of your mouth. It’s not the best pizza, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a better deal.

Came back here today for lunch — it’s STILL good to me. Whats up with all your low reviews? They make me sad. They increased their specialty slices by two. The one i had was a barbecue chicken pizza with bacon and pineapple, and red onions. Boy oh boy was this slice of pizza delicious. I got that specialty slice(you know, the slice of pizza thats as big as a plastic lunch tray?) and a small drink(because you know, thats their special combo they have right) for under 5 dollars. Thats right — GREAT meal at a cheap price. I’d definitely recommend this place.

Not the best pizza in the world. But if I had to compare it to a better pizza for a slice with a better price that would give you satisfaction is probably Bronco Billy’s on Smith Street in Union City. They have the best pizza and my boyfriend and I loves it! New Yorker Pizza is «OK» if you’re not really hungry I guess?

The place is small and the cashier is stupid. I gave the cashier $ 20 bucks for a $ 2.29 slice, and he gives me $ 15 change! I tell dude in a nice way you miss calculated my amount. Then he gives me too much change back. The pizza was mediocre. I’m never going back there again.

Wow. Uhhhh… yeah. I was actually kind of giggly and excited to try this place, as the reviews are SO bad it intrigued me in an odd way… Plus there seemed to be some indication that the low ratings were because the pizza was«no frills» and super NY-style…which are both just fine by us, so we thought, How bad can it be? It’s. Just. That. Bad. This is not NY pizza! Do not be fooled, west coast friends! Real NY pizza is full of flavor, the cheese is tangy and greasy. The crust should bend and not be stiff. It should be mouth-watering. By contrast, this was one of the most utterly tasteless meals I’ve ever had. I don’t think any of my taste buds even registered activity. Yes, the slices are enormous, but I’m not interested in enormous, stale cardboard. The cheese and sauce were devoid of flavor, the crust was thick, dry and tough. We washed it down with a completely bland fountain coke(slight carbonation, no cola flavor). How is it that even the salt, garlic and parmesan had no taste??? To top it off, the customer service experience was just… weird. The restaurant was empty. The man and woman running the show were in the back of the restaurant, unseen, for the majority of the time we were there. The gentleman came out to take our order, and then immediately disappeared, doing the same once he brought out our pizza. They weren’t exactly rude, but they weren’t particularly friendly either… They seemed to have a lot to discuss with each other and were less than jazzed about our patronage. And to have to yell really loud to the back of the restaurant when you need something is just off-putting. Don’t do it!

If you want to ruin your appetite for pizza for awhile, then try this place out. The cafeteria pizza I used to get in elementary school is better then this garbage. Along with our pizza we ordered Mozzarella sticks, took one bite and I gagged. My lovey and I just ended up throwing it away.

my wife and i were setting up for u.s. taekwondo academy’s first bay area open tournament in union city’s james logan high school. the school had some papa john’s pizzas delivered to the tournament site to feed us workers. however, as we left that friday night, my pregnant wife said she was still hungry and wouldn’t mind more pizza. just then, we saw new yorker pizza joint in a small strip mall, and it was still open. we pulled up and entered. the big guy behind the counter was a bit surly, kind of like the comic book guy in the simpsons. i asked if they were still selling pizza by the slice this time of night and wondered what kind of slices they still had left. after all, many slice shops only have certain pies ready to slice up, right? however, it turns out this is one of those shops that adds the toppings onto an existing slice of pizza and then bakes it for you on demand. i don’t know whether that’s good or bad. i mean, you get good selection, but your pizza isn’t as fresh. they had a pretty interesting selection of specialty pizzas. i thought it was very interesting that they had a chicken pizza called the«murga» because doesn’t «murgh» mean chicken in like hindi? well, my wife ordered some kind of meat and veggie combo called the«bellona,» and i ordered their«beefy special» with jalapenos. i love spicy food. well, the slices took a while to come out. our slice combo deals came with soda, but we both asked for bottled water instead because we just don’t drink soda. i think the combo deal is $ 4.49. i have to say, the pizza slices were _huge_! we took our order to go, so that we could go home and sleep because we had to work at the taekwondo tournament the next morning. it was hard to eat that huge slice while driving down 880, but i managed to eat most of my slice. my wife complained that her pizza had a weird, herbal taste to it but that mine didn’t. i don’t know what she was talking about. on sunday morning, while riding in my friend’s car to the sjc airport to fly out to kaua’i, i ate the leftovers of my wife’s slice. it tasted fine to me. sure, i guess this place isn’t the greatest new york pizza place; but i think i can refrain from all this bashing that other Unilocalers are giving this place. i’ll give it three stars because i feel that huge slice really hit the spot late at night.

We keep trying this place every six months or so in the hopes they’ve improved because they’re handy, but alas it’s just not working. The dough tastes old, the sauce either has some strange herb in it that doesn’t belong or is missing something that does, and they don’t have any idea what ‘extra cheese’ means(although they have no problem charging you for it, they just don’t add it to the pizza.) This last pizza(and it really IS the last, I’m done) had stems in the sauce, like they dried their own herbs and forgot to just use the leaves. One of the dried stems pierced the roof of my wife’s mouth. Not fun, judging from her reaction. Do yourself a favor, skip this place. Drive a little further and find some pizza that you’ll enjoy.

So. what’s with having exercise equipment in your joint? I walked in, placed my order… the guy prepared my pizza, and then started working out. Is this where the extra grease came from on my pizza? The pizza slices are huge, I had ordered 2 thinking they would be medium size, but when they gave me a box the size of a small one I was shocked. I didn’t really enjoy the pizza, so didn’t even touch the second slice. I recalled seeing chicken wings on the menu, so after coming back from China I decided to drop by here as I had a craving for some wings. I ordered a gyro and some wings. The gyro was actually decent, and the wings were par. I would go back if I had another craving, but there are many better places in the area for your money’s worth.
