Large portion! Sorry, no picture. I devoured my salmon teriyaki lunchbox. It came with a big piece of juicy, soft salmon, salad, miso soup and quite a bit of rice(which I didn’t finish). Didn’t try anything else but would come back for the salmon teriyaki if I was ever I’m the area. The servers also seemed really friendly, talking to their regulars and bidding you a good day on your way out.

Nice atmosphere and good sushi! Quantity for the price is the only problem. Still, food is delicious with an ambiance that’s very low key. Would come back here but not eager by no means.

I came in close to closing time, clearly everyone was tired. I ordered salmon skin hand roll. It was terrible! Fried and burnt no rice or vegetable. An oily concoction $ 9 with tip. Not happy about food and I told the waitress who said lots of people make this roll different. This is true but a better response might have been what didn’t I like. As I started out it was late and everyone was tired. I’m not sure if I’ll return.

Sigh, the search for good Japanese goes on in sad Walnut Creek. Not much to say in a good way. We found the interior a bit strange. Was this an old Mexican restaurant? Food was not good. Fiancé orders a poke appetizer. While the quantity was huge, the taste was not. We felt it was drowning in too much soy. I had tempura and grilled mackerel. The mackerel was soaked in oil. Service was prompt for getting the check and to go box only.

We ordered a maxi roll and a bento box with tonkatsu and tuna sashimi. The salad and miso soup came first. The salad dressing is creamy, I prefer the light japanese salad dressing instead. The miso soup was a little watered down, nothing special. Tonkatsu was very very dry. the radishes on the side are way too thick, but tastes fine. Maxi roll was just ok.

Been here a couple of times. There’s so many rolls that I don’t have a favorite. Always super fresh and quick service. I can’t wait for the whole shopping center to be done with construction so people can park normally again!

Our neighborhood favorite! We love eating at Tiyo sushi! Generous portions. Fresh sashimi! Friendly service! We usually get the Chirasgi Dinner and/or Hamachi Maki and Tekka Maki. Rolls are good too!

Small place but nice. Staff was was good. Plate portions was large. Since I has a combo with sashimi. the peices were about 3 bit sizes. Would have been nice if the peices were slices up into bit size peices. Short Ribs was tasty and cooked nicely. Well return again.

Awesome special maki, the sunomono cucumber salads are a favorite too. Very friendly and welcoming service. I usually go for the Reno Roll, and will splurge on Hamachi Nigiri if I’m feeling a little extra hungry. Try the Tako Sunomono for a light cucumber salad with fresh octopus on top. This is my favorite Sushi restaurant in Walnut Creek, and I’ve been to them all!

Now this place is by far the best I have had in a while. Great Sushi varieties, great customer service. Sushi was quickly given after order was placed, took like 8 mins to receive our food. Farely priced. Overall great experience !!

Love the service from all the employees especially, Angela. All the rolls I have had were amazing and huge. My go to rolls are the kayla, sexy beach and the Santa Barbara roll. Jessica roll and the hummer roll were good too.

Came here on a Friday night. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. I noticed there were a bunch of people ordering take out. PARKING: A little tricky. The plaza is undergoing construction. Parking lot is pretty full due to other restaurants. FOOD: ordered a 2-item bento box(tempura & salmon teriyaki) and also chirashi. The quality of the fish was better than expected. There is also a TV at the sushi bar — GOWARRIORS!

Had the chirashi and it was fresh and surprisingly big. Well it should for 20 $ Service was good. Forgot our drinks but it was ok. Parking was a little hard to find in the small lot.

Weekend dinner and we wanted to try out a new place in the WC. Unilocaled a few places and decided on Toyo based on the reviews. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived(but plenty of dirty tables). Not sure if people had just left or they were so busy, they didn’t get a chance to bus the tables first. We waited about 5 mins for a table and eventually asked to sit down at a two-seater table that was clean. Several people ordered takeout during our dine-in meal — guess this was the place to go! PARKING: A little tricky during meal times because this plaza is undergoing some construction. Parking lot is pretty full but because there are so many eateries in this plaza, parking can get scarce. FOOD: Lots of options for rolls and other options. We opted for the $ 16.952-item bento box(tempura & salmon teriyaki) and also $ 19.95 chirashi(which I didn’t find on the menu but had seen pictures, so I asked them separately for it). Despite the slow service to seat us, we were pleasantly surprised when our food arrived! Portions were HUGE and I have to say it was a pretty great value. The quality of the fish was awesome and we were stuffed at the end of our meal. There’s also a sushi bar and a TV playing sports!(Warriors game, of course). Great find in suburbia. Other notes: $ 0.50/person for tea for you tea drinkers out there.

Great find, my new go-to sushi place! Small place but service was great, and most importantly, food was sumptuous and good portion at a decent price. We ordered Soft Shell Crab for appetizer, and Sexy Beach and Santa Barbara sushi rolls. All were exceptional, like an explosion in my mouth. Oh, yes, all fresh ingredients.

Wow, Toyo was a pleasant surprise during a recent Sushi fix while passing through Walnut Creek. They have a good selection of rolls(spicy tuna seems to be their specialty– or surplus) with very fresh fish(even on a Sunday), and reasonable prices. But hands down, the chirashi dish had my complete adoration, with fresh cuts of sashimi served along side various poke, salads, and spicy tuna mounds. So good that I am even now considering making the 1 hour drive to dive into the dish. I usually stay away from ordering chirashi because of its plain preparation at a majority of restaurants, but Toyo has a winner here that will keep me coming back. As far as these Americanized Sushi restaurants go, Toyo is 5 stars. Their only problem is short staffing that requires constant prompting for service. However, it’s well worth dealing with having to wave down your server for these good eats.

So… this place basically has the best tempura sushi roll I’ve ever had in my entire life, bar none. I’m a noob at sushi so don’t take my word for it, but at the same time, take my word for it… because I’m chubby, and you know what that means. LOL. I ordered two rolls, one for myself and one for my coworker. She wanted the spicy tuna roll. She loved it and goes there regularly and even hipped me to this place. I ordered some fried shrimp and crab roll or something. I don’t remember the name but was BOMG! Fried to perfection and just amazing. It has not gotten any better than this. I LOVEYOUTOYO.

Great place, great food, quick service and excellent sushi. I recommend the Walnut Creek roll and Amy likes the Concord roll. Plenty of parking and located in the corner between Rocco’s and Taco Bell. A real gem in Walnut Creek.

I’ve had Toyo recommended to me by a coworker on multiple occasions, so I figured the day has come to check them out. The inside of Toyo is quite small with only a few tables set up and a tiny sushi bar on the side. We were seated immediately and then kind of forgot about as our waitress took a few phone orders and messed around at the hostess stand. The sushi chef looked bored as he was checking his cell phone behind the bar. We had to wait a little more then I would of liked and for no reason. Finally our waitress showed up table side, flashing a smile and ready to take our order. My first roll was The Toyota roll. Albacore tuna on the inside, deep fried, then topped with their special sauce and green onion. Even though it was deep fried you can still taste how fresh the tuna was. Sliced into eight pieces which is quite enough for any one person. Plus it really brought contrast to my second roll. The America Pride roll was my second choice. Crab meat, cucumber and hamachi on the inside with tuna, ebi and avocado on the outside then roll is topped with unagi sauce. Fresh is the name of the game here and this tuna is FRESH. Cool, tasty and plentiful. What more could one want? The rolls were delicious but the pieces are large. Large enough to make you feel a little ridiculous as you shove the pieces into your mouth. The rolls are large so if you’re just looking for a light lunch, a singe roll should suffice. If you are dying of starvation then trust me, two rolls is plenty.
