Stopped in for lunch today at Mike’s Falafel and really liked it. I had the falafel sandwich and a soda and thought it was excellent. Since falafel is new to me, I don’t really have much to compare it to, but I definitely enjoyed it! People working there were very friendly also!

Being a lover of true Mediterranean food, this new discovery on Bloomfield Ave is tremendous. Prices are very fair and the serving sizes are plentiful. I haven’t had food this traditional since serving in the Med. The side salad served with the Gyro dinner platter has that nice light lemon twist, but not overpowering. The Gyro meat is tender and full of flavor, but not the flavor you’ll be tasting all day. I highly recommend this new favorite place of mine!

Just stopped in for a simple falafel. You would think it would be their signature item since it is in their name. It was without a doubt the worst tasting falafel sandwich I have ever had and I have eaten them from New York to Israel. The pita bread was barely warmed up in the pizza oven, let alone toasted as it should have been. Instead of cutting the pita and filling the pockets, they just dumped everything on top of the pita and rolled it up like a burrito. It was impossible to eat like a sandwich so I had to use a fork. The pita was mushy and doughy as a result of not being toasted first. The falafel balls were absolutely tasteless. It was like eating cornbread dough that was only cooked half way but burnt on the outside. The tahini sauce was just ok but could have had much more flavor and didn’t drown out the foul taste of the falafel balls. The only positive was the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. Needless to say, it was a very disappointing experience.

I really love this place! The falafel is perfectly fried and dipping it in the tahini sauce is so delicious – that I wish they would serve it with the falafel! The lamb gyro is fantastic – seasoned so well and it’s so tender. Go here!

Hooray! ! We have a great Greek place to go to nearby. Very good sized portions. One of, if not, the best gyro I have had in a long time. Falafel was so good as well. We can’t wait to go back and try more things. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Oh and their homemade hot sauce is awesome. Parking in rear of building is probably a better bet than on street.

I stopped here for lunch and the food is SUPERB. Without the best and I mean the absolute best humus I have ever had. The food is well seasoned and portions are large which is the only slight negative because you will eat it all. Finally a Mediterranean restaurant that has lamb.

We ordered in for the first time and was very pleased. The lamb gyro was DELICIOUS. Not sure if he put tahini or tazaki sauce on but it was good. Kids loved the chicken skewers, very decent Greek salad and nice spinach feta bourekas could have been warmer but tasty just the same. We’ll be back.

I stumbled across this place by accident so I decided to give it a try. The service was quick, the staff was friendly, and the place appeared clean. I just ordered take out on both occasions. On the first visit, I had the kafta kebab platter. The kafta was well seasoned and juicy– so much so that you did not really need the yogurt sauce. However, it would have been a nice addition, but they forgot to add it. The rice and salad were juts OK. Second visit. I ordered the same dish; however, upon reaching home I realized I had the wrong order. It was the beef kebab platter. The beef was a little on the dry side; however, the yogurt sauce was added this time, and it was a huge help. The fruit smoothies are very refreshing! I will try this place again, and hopefully have the right order. Overall, not a bad addition to the area.

Very nice spot with perfect food and service that is friendly, i had the lamb giro and loved every bite. The lamb was really crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Nice service, a ton of room in the seating area, and yhea… great great great spot.

Who’s reviewing this place ??? The food was not good and the place is flat out dirty. I passed a slab of meat that was out in the open for a good 30 minutes as I walked to the bathroom. The only reason why I gave it any stars is the people are friendly but they need to practice better food handling procedures

I’ve had takeout from this place twice and the food has been great, though I have ordered tzatziki on the side both times and never got it which is kind of disappointing. Their falafel is amazing and the service is ok so I will be coming back for sure, just making sure my order is complete before I leave next time. I highly recommend this place.

Love this place. Went for lunch, a gyro platter and falafel pita sandwich. My husband enjoyed the platter, saying the taziki sauce was perfect, fresh not too much garlic. I enjoyed the falafel pita. The pita was soft, veggie’s fresh, falafel crispy and delish. Will definitely return. Ps, would love to see a falafel platter!

This place is amazing! Everything is homemade from the pickled veggies to the baklava! Very authentic and true to the cuisine. There’s a lot of passion and love that goes into the food. The owner is really nice as well as the rest of the staff. Best falafel game in the area for sure!

We weren’t sure how much to order, so we got, falafel sandwich with tatziki and homemade hot sauce, AWESOME!, Greek salad, enough for two people and AWESOME!, spinach boreka and a mushroom boreka,(I hope I’m spelling that correctly), but they were amazing, too! The hummus appetizer is perfect! Two people for a great dinner, from friendly people for $ 35.00 including tip? I’ll do that anytime! We will definitely be back to Mike’s. I can’t believe there isn’t a line around the block! Keep up the good work, guys!!!

Wow! What a pleasant surprise — I felt like I was back in Jerusalem! Excellent chicken shawarma, scrumptious felafel sandwich — authentic and absolutely delicious. There are tables, but most of their business appears to be take-out. Service is just as fast as any fast food joint, but WAY better quality(and much better for you). Patronize it, please — we need more places like this in the Caldwells, and fewer crappy pizza franchise outlets.

This restaurant has been open a month. It’s really lovely little place with a sitdown area. Careful, steps to get down to seating area. Might be able to get into that area from outside with no steps but haven’t checked. Tried combo appetizer of stuffed grape leaves, falafel, hummus(ground chick peas), baba ghanoush(ground eggplant), pickled vegetables. It was enough for two people. It comes with pita bread. The best falafel, hummus and baba ghanoush I ever had(except for my cousin’s hummus)! Falafel not too greasy, hummus and baba ghanoush not too salty or over garlicky Yum! :) Pickled vegs tasty too as were the grape leaves. Tried the cheese bourekas which were delicious and the semolina honey dessert thingy for people allergic to this and that it was quite good. This was takeout. Staff were very friendly and let me sample stuff too. Price more than reasonable. I will be back!

We had chicken gyro sandwiches with taziki. The pita bread was thick and fresh, all the vegetables(tomato, lettuce, onion) were also fresh, and the marinated chicken delicious. The sandwich is so overstuffed they give you a fork to eat it with. Drinks are canned, the restaurant area clean, and parking is in the rear. A very good meal at a good price.

I was super excited to try this place out once the signs went up. I ordered a chicken gyro platter for take out and it was ready very quickly. The chicken was juicy and marinated. The fries managed to stay crispy on my way home. And the vegetables in the salad were fresh. Overall the food was delicious and the owners are extremely friendly. I’ll definitely be going back and recommending Mike’s Falafel to family and friends. I hope they stay around.

I had lunch today at this New Greek Restaurant in West Caldwell. I ordered a greek salad and a beef kabob… I was Amazed at the large size of the salad… including the size of the beef cubes. Everything was Delicious. and the beef was flavorful and tender. I’ll definitely be back soon.

Three and one half stars… I ordered the Appetizer Sampler which includes… Falafels — very good, Humus — a bit grainy, prefer smoother & creamier, Baba Ganoush — very bland, Tabouleh — very good, Pita Bread — So so, they really should consider baking it in house. I also tried the Greek Salad — Nice variety of fresh crisp salad greens, peppers, tomatoes, grape leaves. The only issue was the dressing which was bland and flavorless. My friend had the Chicken Shish Kebob which she thought was very good. All in all not bad. I will certainly give Mike’s another try once they get the kinks worked out.
