I love arepas, but the three my husband and I shared weren’t up to par. The fillings were delicious, but the actual arepa was soggy and dripping butter. I like them with a crisp shell and was disappointed by this one. Maybe it was a fluke? The guy working the shop was super nice and the restaurant had a great vibe.

This is the first place that has compelled me to log into my Unilocal account and write a review. It is that good. It isn’t traditional Spanish or Catalan food by any means but who cares. If you’re hungry and looking for cheap, affordable food, please come here. I’m sad that I found it so close to my departure. Anyways, if you don’t know what an arepa is, it is two corn-based chunky tortilla type things with deliciousness in the middle. Arepamundi has a ton of styles to choose from. The reason it’s called arepamundi is because they try to emulate fillings from different countries. For example, they have a Greek one which has feta and other stuff in it. My favorite is the catalan one with a type of chorizo and goat cheese. They feature two sizes for the arepas. A small one(two of these are perfect for an average sized girl that wants to try a couple flavors). And a large one which is filling for said girl. They offer very affordable combos which can come with these AWESOME cheese sticks and yummy fresh juices. The highlight for me by far(aside from the arepas) are the sauces that you can pour over your arepas if you eat in the store. It’s a small store but well worth the sauces. Salivating thinking about them now. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Holy DELICIOUSNESS. I’ve been in Barcelona 5 days and I’ve already come here TWICE! If you’re looking for something different than the usual tourist trap, then make your way to Arepamundi. If you’ve never had an arepa, let me be the first to chime you in on a delicious Colombian and Venezuelan dish? treat? snack? aka our version of side bread.(For the record, my parents are Colombian). Anyway, arepas are a corn-based type bread-ish creation. I wouldn’t call it cornbread because it’s not spongy but rather a cooked ‘masa’. The Colombian version comes in many sizes but what distinguishes it the most from Venezuelan is that we don’t stuff ours. Arepamundi is Venezuelan so it comes with all sorts of stuffings and varieties. I highly recommend looking at the menu on the right top wall. It doesn’t seem to be anywhere else and it has the best combos of arepas. I’ve had the P(something) criollo arepa which contains shredded beef, black beans. plantains, rice, cheese and the option of an egg. Moment of silence for the yummy yummy in my tummy … You won’t spent more than 5 – 7 euros and walk away with a happy full belly! Pros quick filling bite to eat non-tourist trap made to order fresh ingredients gluten free inexpensive Con no where to really sit and eat in-and-out service

Just a few minutes off the Rambla, an inexpensive and delicious lunch(or late night) option: a twist on the stuffed crêpe model, except the fillings are housed into crunchy/fluffy cornmeal(gluten free!) arepas. Ranging from the Noruega with salmon to the Griega with feta and olives, the arepas are fresh out of the oven and delicious, especially with a dollop of homemade guacamole or a generous helping of salsa picante. You can also get a sampler menu of 4 mini arepas, if you can’t decide. A simple, friendly place with great vegetarian options!
