We Unilocaled and went to Meson Del café right next to it but the weird sea creatures kept staring at us so we decided to leave. We decided to pop in to the next closest coffee shop which turned out to be this one; and WOW! The chocolat is the best we’ve had this trip(tried it at three places overall). Absolutely a must if in the Gothic quarter!

Staff is nice, coffee seems good but western style, churros and chocolate for 4.90 euros is ridiculous, and they were reheated, not fried here. There’s a place 3 minutes away that fríes them fresh for 3.20, and their chocolate is better too. Chocolate here is thin, dark, and too sweet.

I’m reviewing this place again, specifically as a place to buy coffee beans to make coffee at home. This is one of a few places I frequent to buy beans. The beans are cheaper than some other places where I buy them, but the tradeoff is that they’re not always fresh, and not every staff member is knowledgeable about different methods used for making coffee(I had to explain what a French Press is to one of the employees). My favorites are the mocca(worth the higher price) and the caracolillo(peaberry). The latter is not always in stock. I recommend asking them when the beans were roasted before buying; apparently they only run the roaster about twice a month. In the summer it’s especially important, as the roasting is done infrequently due to slower turnover of the product(their open hours are more limited).

Well situated, this is a warm, friendly spot to grab a stool and indulge your sweet tooth in chocolate /coffee and churros! The waitresses were friendly as I asked them questions in broken Spanish about our churro options. 5 churros come in an order so I would recommend one order per person. They don’t come sprinkled with sugar or cinnamon but each table and the bar area has a large container of sugar so you can sprinkle on however much you’d like. The hot chocolate or xocolat was amazing — smooth, a hint of sweetness and such strong chocolate flavor, like they had just melted an amazing chocolate bar. It was the perfect compliment to my churros which were piping hot, crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. My brother’s cappuccino was also delicious, with a lot of foam and sprinkled with cocoa powder. Total for 2 orders of churros, 1 xocolat and 1 cappuccino was just under 10 euros — definitely worth it!
