If I could give zero stars, I would. No matter what time of day I have been to this location, the food has not been fresh and the drive thru person has been unfriendly. I hope I remember this last bad experience so that I can not return to this location. The guy working drive thru seemed to hate his job and just me asking a simple question had him short and left me frustrated. Then to get back to work with stale dried up tortillas just set me off.

After a walking tour of UT Austin ate at Taco Cabana. Food Portions were huge and had trouble finishing for $ 7! Food was delivered with a smile. Food was delivered lightning fast. (Literally 60 seconds after placing our order)
A specific employee also made my experience great. Zach was friendly and talked to all the customers while cleaning and restocking the salsa bar. Made me laugh and brought a smile to my face.

I remember when Taco Cabana used to have really good food at a reasonable cost. It used to serve a wonderful grilled chicken, but not anymore. Also, I used to see UT faculty and their families eating here when it first opened several years ago. I doubt that they frequent this location any more. Anyway, this location is particularly bad. I ordered a fajita burrito here recently (during day time hours, and no I wasn’t drunk either :)). The burrito was loaded with rice and beans and a small piece of beef that would have looked better in a small taco. Where’s the beef? I felt shortchanged. I’ve been to a few other locations. The one at North Lamar and North Loop is better IMHO. I think the food is fresher and served hotter and there is more protein in their tacos than at this location.

This place has let me down for the last time. I ordered a breakfast taco this morning and it was a Bacon, Egg and Potato taco easy right «Nope» not here. It was the most disgusting taco I’ve ever had it had bacon particles hardly any egg and forget potatoes. Here is what I was served enjoy the pics

Takes a long time, food is not great, and they get your order wrong 40% of the time.
Today my tacos were dripping in grease. Breakfast tacos are hard to mess up, but some how they REPEATEDLY give me the wrong order.

the only reason people why people are complaining here are because they come in at 2am drunk af and blame their hangover on the dope food. srs.
I love eating here, it is so cheap and has good macros. I get the cabana bowl every time.

Ignore the 2-​star reviews. Here is what you do — just get the tacos (soft). Get a big side of sour cream and a lot of salsa (salsa bar) and just mow through them. The flavor combo is perfect.

The service is TERRIBLE. No one ever seems to know what’s going on and worst of all they don’t care. Where are the managers? I’ve about given up on Taco Cabana in general bc every location I go is the same story.

I went there for lunch today and got a bean and cheese burrito for $ 5. It really is the worst thing I have eaten for a long time. Just refried beans with way too much lard or oil and some melted fake cheese. Really did not sit well with me. Staff are young people who seem clueless about being there.

Been coming here for about a year now commonly with a friend after work to get some cheap Mexican food. The food here is good, and though I’ve had much better Mexican food, my rating is mainly for the price here. They are dirt cheap, plus they’re open ²⁴⁄₇ so you can pretty much come whenever you want. Get off work late? Come down here, they’re cheap and they’re passable. You could do worse at this time of the night such as a burger at a fast food joint. Also I really enjoy the people here. They all seem very cool, tho’ a couple of the people here do seem very tense… even when it’s not busy. They need to lighten up some, it’s just life, but eh? Who’s to say. One last time I have to say is the sauces. They have some very creative sauces in a bin in the middle of the restaurant that I highly enjoy. Just don’t get their cheese enchiladas, they really suck bad cause of the tortillas. Everything else I had on the menu is good.
The people who work here are nice, and I’ve gotten to know quite a few of them during the nighttime hours. There’s this really skinny short girl who works there called Mayra who manages the whole dang place. She’s funny and has a great personality to her, oh and not to mention that she’s REALLY hot. Ricardo likes to laugh a lot. If you hear someone laughing in the kitchen really loud it’s probably him. He’s a pretty cool guy. There’s a guy called Louis who works there that is a very nice guy. Always has a smile on his face when someone’s ordering. The people here are all fairly knowledgeable to the food here, but that’s not too surprising I guess since it’s not a very big menu. Also if you’re from ACC, you’ll get a 15% discount for eating at a Taco Cabana location, so make sure to remember that if you go. Get cheap food for even cheaper.

I am so tired of feeling guilty because I go through the drive through and ask for salsa de fuego. I don’t feel this is an unusual request.

One of the only places I was dumb enough (and possibly drunk enough then as well) to allow to give me food poisoning TWICE in college. I just had to jump back and write a review when I was taking a trip down memory lane the other day.
I was laughing reading the other (accurate) reviews. I remember looking around, being a 21 year old dude, and actually being disgusted by the inside. That says a lot.

I’ve wanted to Unilocal about this place so many times now, mainly about how terrible their service is, and I am finally doing it tonight after seeing them on Kvue news with a Health & Safety Inspection Rating of 53.
Health Score: 53 (10÷25÷13 news report)
— employees handling dirty dishes, trash and money and then handling food and clean dishes
— no hot water at the facility
— cockroaches behind the freezer and water heater
— mold in ice machine
And all this is on top of pretty much the worst customer service you would think possible. My worst experience has come with the drive-​thru employees in the early morning on weekdays.
I’d avoid this location until they can get new management to turn it around. It’s unfortunate that they give other TCs a bad name.

1 star because the cashier was nice. The guys that handed me the food had the balls to mock me when I asked if the package was mine.

$ 1.50 happy hour small margaritas are no joke. The beef fajita taco was okay. Their carne guisada taco leaves a little to be desired. The salsa bar typically lives up to expectations.
You want a taco, they got a taco. You want something awesome? Go to Tamale House.

I was warned by a fellow Vegas Unilocaler to avoid this place, but I had to try it. Sigh! Hey. the margarita was pretty tasty!
Taco Cabana is like a Taco Bell with a liquor license. I think Taco Bell actually has better food. We had a cheese quesadilla ($ 3.99!) and chicken nachos. The tortillas were horrible, and the nachos looked like baby food.
With so many great choices in Austin, I’d avoid this one.

Being from a place not cool enough to have Taco Cabana, when I heard I was taking a trip to Austin, I was very anxious to try one! My taste buds and wallet were excellently surprised!
I loved the patio, and the condiments to put on my tacos… I may have to visit Austin again!
