Had a great night tonight except the fact when I waked into the bathroom and saw a new mom with her infant on the floor changing her diaper because there was no changing table! I felt so bad I’m a mom of twins and this annoys me! all restaurants need to have changing tables… seriously fix this and put them in both men and women’s bathrooms as well because we both change diapers!

The cook was entertaining. Food was great tasting. But the show and the amount of food was nowhere near worth of how much it all cost. I do not think I will come here again. I’m highly disappointed

Mike was our hayashi chef. He was great! Cooked everything to perfection! I had the steak(medium) and scallops. Another family of four joined us and was very pleasant to dine with. Our other server was excellent as well. We were pleased to have dined here tonight. My husband enjoyed the same dish while our two kids enjoyed their kids dishes Our kids LOVED mike and the show he put on. We will definitely be dining here again. Great atmosphere. Great food and wonderful service.

The sushi was okay. The Jojo roll was mushy despite being fried. The salmon and tuna were good. My boyfriend got a bento and said it was not worth coming back for, the rice received with it was medium grain and didn’t stick at all making it hard to get with chopsticks. The service was the worst part of the meal. Despite there being only 3 other guests none of the 4 waitresses paid much attention to us. Had to go ask the hostess for a box and the bill. Overall not great food, poor service, and no reason to come back.

Ordered take out a few nights ago, got a spicy tuna roll and Kyoto roll. The spicy tuna roll was fishy(not in the good way) and they gave me the wrong roll for the Kyoto roll. Not to impressed and I do not think I will get sushi from here again.

This is my moms new favorite Japanese restaurant so delicious and such a good value for the money. Waitress was super sweet too! We will be back!

This is one of the absolute worst restaurants I have ever eaten at! The food is just awful. The prices are extremely high for the poor quality of food. I will NEVER make the mistake of dining here again!

To say that this is a knockoff of Benihana would be a direct insult to Benihana. I would complain about the service except there is none! Typical Bellingham GARBAGE! I’m utterly disgusted by this restaurant. I will never set foot in this dump again!

I’ve been coming here for a few years now, mostly to the sushi side of the restaurant. The sushi is my favorite in town, it’s fresh, delicious and great quality. It is not cheap but you do get what you pay for here. They have a crazy selection to choose from, and they also have a great happy hour for sushi. Can’t remember the prices but there are some yummy salmon rolls for cheap during happy hour. Try the Alaskan roll. I’ve never ordered something here that I didn’t like. The miso soup is yummy and they have lots of other options on the café side if you’re not a sushi lover. I’ve also enjoyed the hibachi side of the restaurant. It’s pricey but the food is delicious. I’ve had the chicken and seafood and the fried rice was the best I’ve ever had. Service is fast and friendly. The atmosphere could be improved, it feels a bit dark and gloomy.

JIN! You made this night more than any hibachi restaurant and show I have ever seen! He was super interactive and making all sorts of jokes from the beginning, pulling togeher the multiple groups around the table. Drinks were served right away, which is not always the case, and they got right to work! One of his best jokes included free saki shots for me!!! He knew how to turn up! After he finished cooking and doing all the juggling, volcano and regular tricks he stuck around for a few more and to joke with us… we even saw him dance… he offered more for a tip ;) The salad, soup and my steak were delicious. I forgot to mention he gave us extra shrimp and chicken and fried rice for free! I’m not a rice fan at all but the fried rice was damn good!!! I think our end of the table got extra good service :) Can’t wait until our next visit! We’re asking for you Jin!

We hadn’t been there in years so decided to give it a try. A pricy but worth it treat is now an overpriced mediocre meal. We had an employee who basically just cooked in front of us telling bad jokes, no tricks, nothing special. Food was mediocre. I had steak and scallops, not much flavor. My mojito was pricy and terrible, watered down. Waitress kept forgetting who ordered what. Lots of extra, unused dishes on an already crowded table. Won’t be going back anytime soon with the prices they charge for the service and value provided.

I have been coming here for along time, usually not for hibachi but for sushi. I like the fried kinds covered in sauce so their huge sushi menu is great for me. I will keep going, despite the fact that the sushi chef messes up our order 9 out of 10 times I visit. But this usually results in us getting free sushi, so no complaints here really! If you are hardcore sushi person for nigiri and sashimi like my husband, we go to Blue Fin down the street.

Kyotos! It was my first time there this last Friday and we got seated right away. The food and service was fantastic! Our hibachi chef’s name was Jim and he did such a great job. He kept us entertained and laughing for sure. His show was awesome one of the best I’ve seen! 4.3 stars for this restaurants awesome service and food.

I’d give it a solid 3.5. I came here the other night for a friend’s birthday. We had reservations so we were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and fast bringing drinks, soup, and salad. The hibachi show took a little while to get started but it was a Friday night and other tables were being served so it wasn’t a big deal. The show was great, I had the chicken with fried rice. Our chef was very funny and put on a great show! The chicken was cooked well and flavorful. The fried rice was a little crunchy but it was still edible. All in all it was a good meal, but it was around $ 20 for most entrees which is pretty spendy when you factor in drinks and a tip. I would recommend it for a special occasion just for the hibachi show but it’s definitely not an everyday kind of place.

Excellent Sushi for a great price. I used to go here all the time but then they changed their hours. They open at 3:30 now, which eliminates lunch.

I came in with a group of 5 right before closing(I felt like such an ass!). We sat at the hibachi grill and our chef was very skilled and super funny! I was laughing the whole time without a drop of alcohol! Overall it was a great experience and delicious food!

Really sucks I can only give them two stars. I’ve been coming here for my birthday with my family when I’m in town since they had their restaurant in downtown Bellingham years ago. I really WANT this to be good but it just is mediocre. The fried rice has little flavor, the steak was overcooked, vegetables were floppy and dead when they came out on the cart, and the miso soup tastes like it came out of a packet. The silver lining for me was the tuna nigiri which was quite good though I wished I had sashimi since the rice was very sweet. All of this would be acceptable for 30% less but a $ 25 entrée this basic should be excellent every time. It seems that they may have begun to focus more on the performance and forgotten the food. I hope to see this change!

I am really ambivalent about how to rate Kyoto, so I’ll just do a pros/cons list. Pros: The hibachi service was great. My kids were laughing and had a fun time. It really made the experience. Our chef was funny and engaging and had a great dialogue going with the kids. Sushi was yummy. Salad was great. I especially liked the dressing. Cons: Expensive. Our entrees were over $ 20 each. The kids meal, $ 8(drink not included). Flavor/Quality: I’d rate it as «enh». Not bad by any means, but nothing special. My shrimp seemed just slightly undercooked. Tthe biggest problem with our entrees was flavor. They really seemed bland and nothing was memorable or stood out at all. The sushi, while well flavored, was poorly rolled. Two of my rolls weren’t even circular — they were mushed into a U shape. Whoever served those should be ashamed of themselves for the presentation value. So, do I regret going here? No. My kids had a great time and we avoided going to one of our usual places we are bored of. Will I go here again? Likely, not.
