I went out to dinner with a girlfriend recently and we chose to go to the Skinny Pig. To be honest, I am confused as to why this place is getting such good reviews. We were the only 2 people in the restaurant on a Saturday night during prime dinner hours. Their menu is mostly flatbreads, doesn’t sound so bad right? Well, I ordered the flatbread with a few Italian meats on it(salami, prosciutto, pepperoni, etc…) and my friend ordered the pulled pork flat bread. I would compare the crust of the flatbreads to the crusts that are found in the Oscar Meyer lunchables make your own pizza kit. So in other words, not really cooked and not fresh tasting at all. My flatbread was luke warm. I don’t understand how they were not able to heat it thoroughly and I don’t think it sat out for a long period of time considering our service was actually rather decent and we were the only ones in the restaurant. My friend’s pulled pork flatbread was cold and I know it was not supposed to be served that way. I won’t be going back as I believe I have experienced everything there is to experience at the Skinny Pig. It’s a nice space and the service was fine, but I would rather go buy an Oscar Meyer lunchables pizza kit and make sure I heat it so it’s hot.

I am a big fan of this place. The flatbreads are delicious and creative, the prices are reasonable, its a byob and on the weekend they have a grill outside to add to the flatbread selection(it changes weekly but they serve things like steak, chicken legs, potatoes, etc depending on the week) — we always call ahead to see whats on the grill :)

This is a fabulous place to eat! The Short Rib flat bread is really good! They have ice cream(banana the last time I was there) and their dessert flat bread is to die for… it’s like Elvis’s sandwich, just without the bacon!). They have a grill outside and its BYOB. Service was fast and attentive. Every now and then, one of the owners is there and asks to sit down with diners to see what they thought of the place… not many restaurants do that, so we thought it was really cool. Also, it’s a great location being close to UC, so we can go there after class or for lunch. –Steve–

Went here today after class for lunch with a friend, it was the first time either of us had been in the restaurant. The exposed brick wall and the décor is great and very welcoming. : Since it was such a great day today we decided to sit outside on the patio. We were greeted promptly by our server took our drink orders and left us alone for a few minutes. There was only us and another two top dining for lunch today. : I had the Braised Beef Short rib flat bread and also a side of Caesar salad and my friend had the Chicken with strawberry flat bread and the Caesar salad as well. :The Caesar salads were OK, they didn’t have croutons or anchovies like suggested on the menu and the cheese was a bit to much and half of mine was not dressed. : The flat breads were also just OK, I couldn’t taste the jalapeño cheese on mine since there was a thick sweet sauce almost like BBQ. My friend stated he never tried chicken with strawberry compote before, but started to like it, but it was under seasoned. :Total bill for me was 12.77 and for him 11.99. : One suggestion for lunch offer a special half flat bread half salad for 8.99 or whatever price point, it will bring in customers. I heard Josh the owner telling the other table that was there he will bring a market type store to the restaurant and sell produce and such next door and also build a bar next month so it can become a dinner restaurant and he will be able to do course meals.

This is a great concept foodie place! They have taken some fresh flat bread, put some fresh produce on top and voila a delicious meal! I would come back just for the cool name they have. We tried 3 different flat breads and they all tasted good, in their own way. Service was fast and attentive. Best of all it is BYOB, they will even supply you with a wine chiller. Also they have soft serve ice cream with constant changing flavors. All and all this is a good place to try something different, but do not expect steak and fries, all they have is magnificent flat bread! I just wish they would put one down in Covington!

This place is less than a quarter mile from my house, and I’ve been there once in three months. That should tell you something: despite the proximity, it’s just not on my list of favorites. I agree with other reviewers — the concept is holding it back. Expand the menu a bit, get a little more creative with the flavors and toppings, and I’ll be back for sure. One plus: the salads are pretty excellent, if you’re a salad connoisseur.

I have been here a couple of times and have tried a few of their flatbreads. Pros: 1) They have the traditional coke in glass bottles 2) The atmosphere is great and so is the décor 3) The staff is really friendly 4) I have enjoyed all of their salads 5) The cinnamon sugar flatbread is delicious for dessert! Cons: 1) Unfortunately the only flat bread I have enjoyed was the ginger apple turkey 2) I also thought it was a little pricey for a flatbread lunch

Came here for lunch on the recommendation of a friend. The owner was there and greeted the table, discussing the food. It was a great opening to lunch, I love going to local places and meeting owners who are passionate about what they do. We ordered some flatbreads for lunch and the staff was accommodating to my partner who has a gluten allergy(couldn’t eat the bread). After talking with the owner about the food, we were hyped and excited to try it. The plates came out with only the flatbreads(no garnishes). Which we all agreed lacked some presentation. I ordered a wild mushroom pâté, eggplant, and cucumber salsa flatbread. The only thing I could really taste were the cucumbers covered in turmeric and cumin. No wild mushroom and the flat bread wasn’t as filling as I was hoping it to be. The food was okay, not great but definitely not the worst I have ever tasted. We decided to give them another chance and ordered dessert. The banana, chocolate, and peanut butter concoction was a redeeming end to the lunch. Definitely the best of all the flatbreads! Overall, I was going between a 3 and 4. The décor was great with the exposed brick wall and it is in a cute section of Walnut Hills. Definitely in the«new american» category. The owner did tell us about Mayberry and I’m willing to give that a try. Maybe since this place is relatively new, the kinks will get worked out… but for now, its worth a try but the flavor profiles and presentation need some work.

I got takeout from here a few weeks back. I ate it rather quickly, but I’m sure it would have been better fresh from the mini-oven. I was excited to try this place because the guy who runs it also runs Mayberry, which I’m a big fan of. I think the concept is holding it back. The flatbreads are all right, but the ingredients that went on top were very good. I would have liked to see more of them and less of the flatbread — which is unfortunately Skinny Pig’s showcase. Note to keep your eyes peeled when trying to find this place. There’s not too much visually distinguishing it from surrounding shops. Bottom Line: I wouldn’t complain about coming back.

Always excited to try new places, my friends and I checked out The Skinny Pig. Despite it’s name, their menu does not consist solely of pork(which I do not partake in). As other reviewers have mentioned, they specialize in various flatbreads. I had the flatbread topped with chicken, artichokes, ricotta cheese and a orange sauce(although the sauce was savory, not sweet). I enjoyed the concept and the dish was good, although I think it could have been more flavorful. They are also currently grilling items in their patio, such as chicken, pork chops and octopus, but for my first experience I decided to stick with the main menu. My friends and I shared their dessert flatbread, which consisted of chocolate, peanut butter(although I couldn’t taste this) and bananas. It was good, but not great. It reminded me of a crêpe filled with similar items but I didn’t personally like it on a flatbread as much and it could have used more dense chocolate(vs. the hershey syrup that was on it). Overall, I liked this place. I’m sure they still are in the middle of working out the kinks since it just opened. For example, they served us soda in bottles and did not have ice, nor did they give us glasses with our bottled coke. It seemed odd because the vibe at the restaurant seemed to be on the nicer side. Either way, it has a great potential.

The Skinny Pig is a hip little spot where vegetarians and omnivores can dine together. I love the location on Woodburn Ave. It’s in a great little nook of the city, tucked between E. McMillan and Madison. It’s actually across from this crazy looking tool rental building whose façade looks like an old western town. It’s an eyesore, but it’s one of the weird, quirky things I love about Cincy. The Skinny Pig is tiny. There are about seven tables that seat four people each. It was like having a meal in a friend’s dining room while they cook and talk to you in the kitchen. The kale salad was citrusy and delightful. It had lots of pepitas an fruits and had no overly-bitter bite that kale sometimes has. My friend and I shared the salad and the artichoke/asparagus flatbread. The chef was happy to split everything on two plates. The flatbread was good, but the star of the of the meal, for me, was the salad. We also tried the cinnamon flat bread dessert which has bananas, chocolate syrup and peanut butter. I love all those things, but there was too much peanut butter and chocolate on it for me to handle. The waitress also brought us out their soft-serve ice cream with Oreo cookies to try. It was really good, and fit better with the meal we had just ate.

The Skinny Pig set high expectations for me. The space is cozy, bright, laid-back, inviting; a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The open kitchen follows trend. Even the menu reads well. But the adobo pork loin flatbread I ordered boasted a description fit for Goliath. I expected a «heat meets sweet» flavor conjured by the chili cilantro peaches and deconstructed guacamole that dressed the pork(which was dry and lacking anything resembling adobo flavor), but everything tasted flat. I do not know if the blue corn flatbread is to blame for the cracker-like dry mouth effect, but the beautiful presentation crashed on a pile of floury plainness. My buddy’s choice tasted better than mine(I do not remember what he ordered) and the salads looked tasty, so I hold out hope that this is simply a case of learning to walk before you can run. Speaking of greens, my flatbread seemed lonely without a spoonful of leaves. It would go a long way to making the meal feel complete, even if the base price for the flatbread was a buck more. I will go back soon to see how things develop, but for now I give The Skinny Pig two thumbs sideways.

Love the idea of a new restaurant in my neighborhood so I went there tonight with some friends. BYO wine is always a great idea. I had the chicken flatbread as well as the mushroom pâté flatbread. Both were tremendously tasty though I have to give the edge to the chicken with the fantastic miso honey. Arugula salad very tasty and flavorful if not a little heavy-handed with the dressing(though I am not a dressing person). Dessert flatbread of Belgium chocolate, peanut butter and banana was wicked good. Space was small and sparsely decorated but I am okay with that. Overall, had a fantastic time and will be going back.

The two flatbreads we tried at The Skinny Pig were both very tasty(I think we had the adobo pork and the mushroom pâté). But what’s most notable about the place is the concept. Limited menu focusing on doing one thing very well. The vibe is super laid back – bring your wine, hang out for as long as you want, keep ordering. The Skinny Pig is unpretentious, fresh, and delicious.

I hate to be the first one to not give the place 5 stars rating but I don’t even think some of the best restaurants in Cincinnati have a 5 star rating. This Skinny Pig has a lot of potential. I love the location and it makes me happy to see this area growing. The space is cool and a great urban lunch spot but the restaurant is new and they definitely have some kinks to work out. For our lunch I had the kale salad with strawberries, sunflower seeds, a great dresing(lemon poppy I think) which I loved. My friend ordered the arugula salad and they were out of dressing that went with it, they were also out of the mushroom pâté flatbread which was a bummer because I was looking forward to trying it based on the reviews. We ended up deciding on the herb chicken and artichoke flatbread which sadly was a little bland. The menu is small, some flatbread choices, a few salad options and desserts. We were on a bit of a time constraint so we did not get to order dessert but even if we wanted to we weren’t asked. They dropped the check without even asking if we would like anything else. Not good. Other picky observations: We were sharing and they only brought one small appetizer plate. I can overlook that but I ordered a mexican coke which they brought out in the bottle and set on the table, no glass with ice, no straw. I was self conscious for a quick minute, like maybe you’re supposed to drink it straight from the bottle but somehow that didn’t seem appropriate. It’s not like I was in the sweltering Mexican sun! I will try the Skinny Pig again in a few months. I like that it offers well priced lighter fare in a central location.

Best Josh venture so far, and I adore Mayberry and World Food Bar. The freshest, bestest ingredients. Creative tasty menu. Wow. Very affordable– dinner and dessert for 2 was under $ 20. BYOB cool.

Great first experience. There were four of us, so we shared the kale salad that was fresh, fruity and delicious. Each of us ordered a different flatbread and we were all able to taste each one. The mushroom pâté curry flatbread with beets and eggplant was a favorite at the table, as was the herbed chicken with ricotta and artichokes. We tried a dessert flatbread with peanut butter, bananas and chocolate chips… very tasty. Cute little place, inexpensive, not too heavy, but satisfying. Will be back!
