With my daughter being Celiac diagnosed, we have to now be careful of where we can eat. We were told about this place from the waitress at The Chowder Bowl. Since we had lunch at The Chowder Bowl, we stopped in here to get some gluten free chowder to go. I got enough for my daughter and I to have 2 meals. It was amazing! After seeing the previous reviews, I am disappointed that we didn’t get to eat a meal there as it looks like they have more gluten free items. We were staying in Waldport until Monday, so my daughter and I drove back to Newport to get some more clam chowder for our«last meal» on the coast. Unfortunately, we got there about 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon and they had closed at 3pm. The reason I am giving them a 4 star instead of a 5 is because the waitress was a bit rude when we came in. The door was wide open and she and the cook were standing there as we walked in. She said something I didn’t understand, so I asked her what it was she said and she rudely said, «we are closed!». I asked her what time they closed and she said 3pm. I asked if they had any gluten free chowder left at all that they had packed up that I could buy and she rudely threw her hands toward the cash register and said«we are done!». I was so disappointed because it is not often we can find gf foods for my daughter. If in Newport again, will definitely go there to get some gluten free food, but hopefully the waitress is more friendly.

Expect great food and service. Chile relleno was off the hook. Pie=amazing! Child friendly, with cute décor. Homemade soups, unassuming. Daily specials.

Breakfast here was delish! My favorite so far in the area. I LOVED the praline crusted French toast with marionberry jam and whipped cream. Hubby had the huevos rancheros and gave an enthusiastic thumbs up. Excellent bacon as well. I was lucky to get the day’s special which includes bacon and eggs with a half order of French toast so it wasn’t as expensive.

I ordered the fish tacos. It took them over 30 minutes to make when they weren’t busy and when I got them, the fish was overcooked and tasted like dry chicken. I actually thought it was chicken at first. Cool spot, good location, but the food and service just wasn’t very good.

It’s not as easy to find vegan food in Newport as it is in Eugene, so I was pleased to see some egg free/dairy free options on the menu. I ordered the vegan breakfast panini. It was really tasty and came with a jam that was to die for! The bread was home made among other things(soup, pie, etc.). So so good! Eat here! TLDR Awesome: all things made in house, vegan options, delicious No-so-awesome: the service was mediocre and the temperature was a bit warm

Wonderful little breakfast café on Nye Beach. Reminded me of the little breakfast cafes of the ’70’s and 80’s found in beach towns. The food was fresh and excellent. We had crustless quiche, sweet fruits, and just-made scones. Don’t miss this yummy option to the standard bacon, eggs, and frozen hash brown chain food.

Thank you Unilocal! We are in Newport Oregon this AM looking for a tasty breakfast and checked your listings and decided to try the Nye Beach Café. What a wonderful find! My husband had the Mama’ s boy omelette with Italian sausage and sun dried tomatoes topped with sour cream and pesto which was delicious! I had biscuits and the best gravy I’ve ever had along with some excellent and lean bAcon. All the meals passing my table looked wonderful and there were at least three large bowls of yeast dough rising for fresh rolls and bread. Add the cheery staff and good coffee and it’s as good as it gets. If you are looking for quality eats you will find it here.

Ok we went back and I made a mistake and ordered a special that included beef(which was delicious) but I did not see the word«beef» which is something I do not eat. And these guys were AMAZING about it! I offered to pay for my mistake and they replaced my incorrect order with a veggie version. THANKYOU!!! I give them huge kudos for being so accommodating and kind when I made a mistake! Happened upon this little spot for breakfast and so glad we stopped in! They make all the breads fresh daily as well as their pies. The eggs were farm fresh and what a difference fresh eggs make to a dish! They yolks were so orange and vibrant! The hubby had the seafood special and I had the huevos ranchero’s. Both were delicious! Loved the polenta instead of more tortillas under the huevos! And the seafood was so plentiful in his dish! Definitely give them a try!

Nice dining place, great selection for breakfast and lunch. Paninis are better than sandwich. We got Pastrami sándwich and panini. Fries are not homemade, it’s actually chips in a bag :(

Wonderful breakfast treat. Great fresh ingredients with prompt friendly service. Add in the great coffee and the distinctive mugs and you have a great experience(bought four of the mugs for home). Will definitely go back. Huevos Rancheros with polenta was a special treat. Lots of gluten free options for those that need that.

Stopped by for lunch with my fiancé on Friday afternoon, the place was cute, had good ambiance, and was in great location. We both had panini’s, they were good. Only down side was the waitress that was obviously over whelmed, which can be understood but if an employee wants to complain, do it in private never in front of the customer, comes off very tacky and inappropriate. Maybe hire more help? Overall, it was good and we would probably give it another try.

Amazing breakfast spot in Newport! The staff was dog friendly and let us tie up our dog just outside where we could see her. We ordered a breakfast burrito, and a half order of baked French toast with marionberry jam and a side of eggs. This was perfect! The right amount of French toast without going overboard since it’s so sweet, with some eggs to balance it out. Coffee was great too, and service was excellent. They were able to accommodate a dairy allergy, and had a good amount of vegetarian options for me as well. We will definitely be returning next time we are in Newport!

Cute little place with great, healthy, fresh food! Love that their clam chowder is made without bacon! Woohoo!!! So good :-) Wish more places would keep clam chowder traditional and meat-free. Highly recommend this place.

Superb breakfast lovingly prepared with fresh, local ingredients. We had the special – crab cakes with fresh herbs, homemade bread, fresh(not frozen) hash browns, and eggs. It was perfectly prepared and the crab cakes were especially tasty. My husband had the biscuits and gravy, and I am really picky about my sausage gravy, and theirs is top notch. Best of all, they make their own gluten-free bread! Who does that? So my friend, who has celiac disease, was able to have toast with her eggs. I know there are several good breakfast places in Newport, but I don’t want to go anywhere else while we’re here. The owner and the chef were especially nice and attentive. They gave dinner recommendations for seafood restaurants that don’t use corporate, frozen ingredients: Local Ocean and Saffron Salmon. Don’t hesitate! Great place!

Enjoyed a delicious lunch featuring crab cakes atop mashed potatoes prepared with chives, butter, sour cream and parmesan. Kale slaw and home made garlic bread rounded out the meal. Excellent service and great art make this a five star rating.

This review is for the fish tacos, black beans and rice meal. And coffee. Albacore tuna was the fish and I will never order this again and I do not recommend. The fish was actually bad, and the remainder was just bland aside the avocado which was good and ripe. All and all, rather awful. Two stars for the food. I asked the lovely waitress if the coffee was good(since they charge for refills), yes she responded. Not. It was watery, bland diner coffee. No desire for a refill. However, the staff is very nice and this is a sweet laid back place. I will repost when I try something else.

The food is good but the service leaves a lot to be desired. I had biscuit and gravy which was good. The biscuit is nice and fluffy the gravy rich and creamy. The coffee was Luke warm at best. Maybe we got bad services because it is off season.

Our food was not flavorful. I paid $ 10 for some black beans, rice & watery steamed veggies(the Vegan Plate GF). My corn tortillas were already ripped when I got the dish. All in all, a very bland meal that I would not come back for. My boyfriend’s burrito was bland, too. A nice idea for a restaurant, they just missed the mark.

A little over a month ago, my family was driving back home along the Oregon coast and we stumbled upon this little café mainly because my mother found a fudge shop down the street. I am gluten free and was pleasantly surprised at the array of gluten free food as well as other dishes that were listed as vegan and vegetarian. I had the Vegan Plate GF and it was delicious. The food tasted fresh(as in the vegetables were not pre-frozen) and in regards to my father’s cup of clam chowder, he loved it(and that is saying something seeing as my dad loves Boudin’s Clam Chowder). When I was dining there, there were three ladies. Two acted as waitresses and also did prep work and the third was in the kitchen area. The best part was that I could see the food being prepared(which I love!). This is a great little café located a block away from the beach and a block away from a fudge shop(that also sells ice cream, win win!). I would go back in a heartbeat! (Oh, a little side note, they sell ‘art’ according to their website. To sum this up, my mother and I were particularly drawn to come ceramic mugs that conveniently stack on top of one another and they also have tea sets, so the art encompasses ceramic pieces!)

We stopped by here for breakfast on our vacation. My friend and I ordered biscuits and gravy, can’t go wrong, right? My husband had some fried oysters, and our other friend had an Italian sausage omelette of sorts(I think they called it «Momma’s boy»?) The biscuits and gravy were so bland. It tasted like flour with a few chunks of sausage here and there. I added pepper, and it didn’t really help, so I added salt and it helped, but still was not very good. My husband said the oysters were not cooked thoroughly. The friend with the omelette said his food was pretty good. I’m not saying don’t try this place out, but what I am saying is DON’T order the biscuits and gravy, or fried oysters. Maybe go for the omelettes. The service was very friendly, and it was a clean café so that is always a plus. Service: Great Biscuits and gravy: Not so great.

When I’m driven to go two mornings in a row. You know it must be good. Well thought-out menu that’s trim and to-the-point, full of goodness made-to-order. Seriously, you can watch them make all manner of baked goods(and your breakfast!) right there in front of you. Service is top-notch, and it’s impressive to see the teamwork that goes into running a well-oiled breakfast machine. I’d type more, but my panini is calling.(Hint: Hash browns. That’s all I’m saying.)

We stumbled upon this place accidentally as the outdoor seating for our first choice was all taken and we had our lovely huskie mix with us and it was a very fortunate accident. The place was very busy but they have a few tables outside so we were able to get a spot to sit. The staff brought us out an extra chair and were very attentive to us. Sitting outside here was very peaceful even though it’s right on the road. On a Sunday morning, the road isn’t too busy and the noise was negligible. The caprese scramble was fantastic! It came with great hashbrowns and a nice homemade biscuit. I only wish my partner and I had ordered a variety of dishes so I could give an honest review about the other options but the caprese was too good to pass up. They do have a good variety of vegetarian options and even some gluten-free and vegan options.

Lots of gluten free options including sandwiches on some of the best gluten free bread I’ve had. It’s the real deal — soft and chewy with a perfect crust. We even asked if we could buy a loaf but unfortunately they said their kitchen isn’t big enough to keep up with selling bread and having enough with what they need for meals. Between the three of us we spent $ 23 for lunch and had 2 cups of clam chowder(gf), chile rellenos with rice and beans(gf), and a half turkey pepperjack sandwich on gf bread. Yum. They were also attentive to my daughter. Brought a coloring sheet, and brought her soup out early to cool so it would be ready by the time our food came. Overall great food, great service. Thus the five stars.
