I was actually pretty disappointed w/my experience here and was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. I had to chase down a server and then I was deciding between the Utah trout and Trio. The waiter recommended Trio — wish I had gone w/my gut and tried the trout. I was not impressed w/the Trio but perhaps it’s because my food didn’t come hot. Lukewarm essentially. For the price, I think it could have been better. However, the host and waiter were polite so there’s that :)

Superb food with impeccable service and hospitality despite the loss of power(on the whole block) shortly after ordering through the duration of the meal. The poached pear and burrata salad included figs and stuffed dates; the sea bass was perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce; the macarons were as light as the sorbet. That they pulled off a meal of this quality during near blackout(chefs wore head lamps!) is a testament to the professionalism and commitment to excellence at Riverhorse. Bravo!

My boyfriend and I had Valentine’s Day dinner at Riverhorse. We had an 8pm reservation, but showed up 15 minutes early. They were able to accommodate us immediately. There are multiple rooms, and although we were seated in an alcove and not the main dining room, our table was very comfortable and we enjoyed the décor of the room. We were able to bring in our own bottle of wine, the corkage fee is $ 25. Our waiter was great and brought us the proper wine glasses after inspecting the label. After discussing with him the menu options, we decided on buffalo tartare and pan seared scallops for appetizers, and the wild game trio(for him) and the halibut for entrees, as well as a side order of brussels sprouts. The pan seared scallop appetizer was delicious, but the buffalo tartare fell a little short for us. It was good but nothing to write home about, and was topped with cheese(which I don’t eat) when there was no description of it including cheese on the menu. Luckily, my boyfriend was able to scrape off the top and eat that while I was able to eat the cheese-free bottom, but that took away from the experience for me. The side of brussels sprouts, at $ 14, were just brussels sprouts lacking any texture or added flavors, and we felt they were just ok. Our mains, however, were both fantastic. I enjoyed trying each of his 3 wild game options, and we agreed that our order of favorites was venison, buffalo and then elk. All 3 were cooked superbly at a medium rare and melted in my mouth. The halibut was also really great. The cook was perfect, the fish was moist and the macadamia nut crust added a depth of flavor that emanated throughout the dish. We finished with a blueberry cobbler, which was absolutely delicious. Overall, we very much enjoyed our evening at Riverhorse on Main, and would recommend it to others looking for a nice night out.

Riverhorse is one of those restaurants that will leave a lasting impression. Its location right on Main Street in Park City makes it easy to find, and literally on another level than every other establishment nearby. This place truly stands out in terms of ambiance, décor, and food. The restaurant is decorated in beautifully neutral colors in a modern yet elegant style. During brunch, there was a live pianist who played and sang the most romantic melodies and classic love songs. She was awesome! I had the special which was smoked salmon on top of a toasted bagel with a side of fruit and pickled veggies. Very simple, but the presentation and flavors were outstanding. The portion of salmon was very generous and the highest of quality. It was excellent with my Morning Sparkle cocktail. If you’re in the area, you have to come to this restaurant. It’s a bit of a splurge, but totally worth it.

Loved the décor and the live music was nice although maybe not completely appropriate for Fat Tuesday. The dining companions were foodies from all over and just about everyone enjoyed the appetizers of tuna ahi duo, pork belly pierogies(yum yum!) and scallops. Three of us got the trio of wild game, not everyone was wild about elk but it was a must try at least once since we’re here. The 90 day aged steak was huge and delicious. I could’ve had a million more yummy cocktails if I wasn’t such a lightweight. It was a pleasant and elegant yet fun dining experience.

THISPLACE. THISEPICPLACE. My friends and I came here 4 times during Sundance. I literally decided to skip a Richard Linklater panel to go back for the New Orleans Film Commission. The FilmLA brunch served eggs benedict… with LUMPCRABMEATINIT. I’m not saying that this place is the thing I’m most looking forward to for next year’s Sundance buuuuut it wouldn’t be a huge exaggeration. :)

I’ve been here many times and they never disappoint. Dined there on Friday night, 2÷5÷16, with a very large group(24 people) and it couldn’t have gone better. Service was great, which is difficult with such a large group. The food came out in a timely fashion and pretty much all at once… again, very difficult with a large group. Everyone was happy and the staff couldn’t be any nicer. I highly recommend Riverhorse, my favorite restaurant in Park City.

This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Utah — and being a huge foodie that’s saying a lot. In fact the only other place I’d take over it is Blue Boar Inn and that’s only sometimes because everyone needs a lot of riverborse in their life. Tonight I decided to write a review it being my 15th time here or so. We had a wonderful server named Brenda who made our night exceptional. She really heightened the experience and made sure we wanted for naught. Servers are 50% of the experience for me. The food as always was amazing and the unique flavors and accomodations this restaurant comes up with are worth every penny!

Strolling down Main street in the mid-lazy Saturday with some out-of-towners who were in the mood to splurge during their ski vacay. Almost walked right past the beautifully carved wooden hanging sign at the entrance– too understated and small for touristy main street. Hostess located just inside at a desk requested my first and last name even though we had no reservation and I am not a celebrity. She explained it was to keep track of our preferences in their computer. Great– now my cover is blown. When hackers break into the riverhorse server they will discover my cinnamon fetish and that I like my martinis shaken not stirred. Next time I will use a Fletch alias. «Arnold Babar, is that two b’s or one? In any case your table is ready Mr. Babar». Trekked up the staircases to the actual restaurant. Harder than it looked. Especially since we all suffered from post-skiing jellyfish legs. Typical sequelae of those determined to get their moneys worth on the daily lift passes. Fun brief stop on the landing for a reflective glance in the art-worked mirror. Looking good. Friendly and charming host showed us to our table. Surprised to see the bar on the right appears to be completely gone; replaced with an additional dinning room. Interior design and decorating was abfabulously swank– a true classic! Eerily empty on early Saturday afternoon in the main dining area. Not quite The Shining but close. Bright jazz staples from a live pianist tickling ebony and ivory on a baby grand in the far corner warmed the air. Though acoustics were underwhelming and made it mildly jarring– would not want to be here if I was nursing a hang-over. Service was flawlessly superb – on par with Mariposa, St. Regis, and Prime Steakhouse. Puts some of the other high-end joints on Main street to shame. : Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice : No cheating here – it looked and tasted freshly-squeezed. Served in a short glass with a orange slice which gave it a cocktail-esque appearance. Just add grey goose and lets get this midday soirée started. : Lobster Salad : Cat’s meow! Lobster was fresh and huge. Grilled to perfection. Beyoncé sang about the wrong restaurant. Served on top of its shell – so zero effort to wheat from the chaff. Salad lettuce was fresh and crisp with fresh mandarin orange slices and mango chunks added a wonderful acidity and sweetness to the dish. It a lot not lick the plate it was so delicious. They should have named it the Lobster Brannigan. : Cinnamon Roll : Buttah’ buttah’ buttah’… always makes everything betteh’! This roll was no exception– so much fluffy buttery goodness gave the dough aspect of the roll a heavenly appeal. The rich buttercreme frosting on top was equally am-uh-zing! Mined the veins of cinnamon between each dough layer with my tongue just to channel the ghosts of Park City’s past. Average amount of cinnamon. Would pair perfectly with coffee for a pre-ski quickie breakfast– so alway remember to get one to go! : Peanut Brittle : Gratis dessert in the form of delicious traditional peanut brittle arrived with the check. Willy Wonka would approve of this brittle it was so addictively tasty! We fought over it to the«brittle-r» end.(groan) Dr. Rosenrosen snagged the last piece. The usual complaints I hear about Riverhorse are that the menu never changes and not many gluten-free/vegetarian/vegan options available. Sort of like saying that Whole Foods doesn’t serve twinkles. Wait a minute now– they have their thing, they are good at their thing, and twinkles are just not their thing. Just ask my secretary Frieda. And I lack standing to opine on Riverhorse’s static menu until after I sample everything at least once. Which I now hope to do since discovering this crown jewel of Main street! That said, but for the Main street prices, I would consider making this a regular brunch dining destination. As Fletch famously said, «For an extra grand, I’ll let you take me out to dinner.» Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh You take my self, you take my self control You take my self, you take my self control You take my self, you take my self control… …clearly a paean to the lobster salad at wonderful Riverhorse on Main!

RIverhorse is an institution and we come here every year for 10+ years when in Park City. As the other reviews state, some years they are off their game, but only because the expectations are so high. This year the food was awesome. Wild game trio for me — Bison, Venison chop and elk. Loved it all, ate it all, but venison was my favorite. So flavorful and cooked expertly. My husband had macadamia crusted wild Alaskan Halibut which he said was delicious, but was very rich with the nuts and sauce. As it was week after Sundance they were out of some wines by the glass, which is odd as the wine I requested was fully stocked at the Park City Utah state liquor store. There was acoustical music and the space has been remodeled from last year, was attractive and had a couple of private dining rooms, not sure if that was temporary from Sundance or what. Waiter Luis was terrific. Our meals and drinks were slightly delayed as Luis had us and 2 large parties and where we were sat was near enclosed outdoor space so it was drafty and chilly. Food 5 stars, overall experience a solid 4.

Sunday Brunch from 11 am to 2 pm. No reservation required. Piano player upped the already classy appeal of Riverhorse and although the food didn’t amaze me, it didn’t disappoint me either.

You definitely need a reservation for this place. If not, you can usually still get a table at the bar(they have a bar-menu and the pop corn they have on each table is great) if you get there when they aren’t slammed. The Surf ‘n Turf is delicious when it’s available!

After a fairly lackluster experience last year, I was reluctant to return to Riverhorse; however, I’m glad we did, as our most recent experience proved again why they are such a Park City institution. As always, food and wait service were excellent; our waiter, Francis, was friendly, attentive, and made excellent suggestions that reflected how much he loved working at Riverhorse and respected its cooking talent. There are some new items on the menu: the wagyu beef and marrow, served with truffled soft-boiled egg and brioche, was one of the stand-out dishes of the night. For entrées, I ended up with the local trout(again), which truly is the best trout dish I’ve ever had. The surf and turf, a splurge at $ 60+, is absolutely divine. For dessert, our waiter recommended the apple cake with rum ice cream, which is made by two local ladies only a few times a week, and was, like everything else, absolutely delicious. He also recommended a gin-based cucumber cocktail on the menu — it was light, refreshing, and probably the best gin-based drink I had in Park City. One of our party forgot her ID(a must in Utah! They will ID you even if you’re middle-aged) and unprompted, the manager personally came out and apologetically explained to us. He stopped by later in the night as well to check in on us, and we saw him exchange words with every table. It was a large and very welcome change from last year, when our horrible dining experience could have been rectified by more present management. Riverhorse is definitely not resting on its laurels — it was great to see new items on the menu and renewed attention from management to perfecting its customer experience. They also had live music the night we were there, and the guy was amazing. It was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while

I have eaten at Riverhorse several times, but after my last experience, I will not return. I think the restaurant is resting on its laurels. The food is good but not outstanding. The service was mediocre, and the ambiance was horrible. We were seated in the side room which resembles a cold, sterile diner. When we arrived, I asked about a table in the other room and was told nothing was available. Another couple arrived and was obviously disappointed with the ugly side room location. He left and returned a short while later. Then they were escorted into the atrium. I’m assuming a $ 20 bill helped get them a table in the other room. So that’s what it takes. There are so many other outstanding restaurants in and around Park City, why suffer through a dismal, yet expensive, dining experience.

Recently had a work dinner here and always love to bring out of towners. One thing I love is that you can dress up or down and still feel very comfortable. So the ambience and location are a 5 and the food swing between a 3 – 4. I have had some amazing things there including the goat cheese salad and others that I could leave given the cost. The trio of meat is a go to for most guests as they want to try something exotic and different. All in all, it is a good experience and if the food is on that night, something to remember for your out of town guests as well.

In spite of all else which I have to say about the food and amazing wait staff, I must begin with a scathing indictment of the management. Our reservation was made through OpenTable. Before noon on the day of our dinner reservation, we received a confirmation phone call from Riverhorse itself for our 8:30 for three. Upon arrival, the hostess couldn’t find our reservation and informed us that they had been struggling with OpenTable. Our hostess, on the downstairs entry level, assured us she was on it, but after another ten minutes we requested the manager. After a second request for the manager after another ten minutes, we went upstairs to the main dining room to find him ourselves. Dan, the manager, finally revealed himself upstairs. We did not receive any apology. I saw on the screen that the reservation was there, but for 9:15. Dan continued to make excuses for what he called a «system error.» After he told us we needed to wait another 10 minutes, I had to specifically request an area to sit and wait, aside from standing in the crowded hallway. At this time, it was 8:50. Only after further baiting did we receive an apology, or any offer of recompense. As Dan seated us, I noted to him the number of other Unilocal reviews which cited a 30 – 45 min wait WITH reservations. His response was to eagerly tell me that they have a very popular restaurant and that they«can’t get customers out the door fast enough.» I am from New York. I have waited outside reservation-less Totto Ramen in January for 45 min for a bowl. But to regularly make customers with reservations wait any longer than 10 minutes is inexcusable. To justify this is sacrilegious. The food was generally excellent, with the exception of the Riverhorse Classic. Sadly, the halibut was just slightly overdone(as halibut tends to be). What was really deserving of the title of Riverhorse Classic was the trio of wild game meat. Combined with the buffalo tartare, I think it safe to say that Riverhorse’s kitchen excels in the preparation of red meat. For dessert, the blueberry cobbler was excellent — a bowl of mostly wild blueberries, topped with the perfect amount of streusel and an ideal portion of ice cream. The person who really redeemed Dan, however, was Marie. Our server — in her second trimester of pregnancy — effortlessly managed both our table and half the dining room, it seemed. She was not only knowledgeable but incredibly attentive and professional. For her sake and Abby’s(the first hostess we spoke to), I’d like to see Dan do better. Because for all that Marie and Abby and the rest of the generous and warm wait staff did, I am not returning to a restaurant where I need to wait 45 min after the time of my reservation. Last note: To his credit, Dan checked on us after our lovely meal. To his extreme discredit, however, he laughed when I handed him the handwritten note I had penned regarding his lack of cordiality/failure to observe basic restaurant protocol and the wait staff’s excellence. I am a young Asian woman. I asked him what was so funny before he realized just how disrespectful that was. He had not laughed at my dad once this entire time. So if you’re looking for a side of casual sexism with your dinner, Dan is your guy. Overall? Lovely restaurant with great food and outstanding staff. But the terrible management means that there is no way I am returning. What a pity.

Recommended by good friends, and visited during the dead weak before the Christmas holiday, this place was totally worth it! The atmosphere was great. high end, beautiful open main dining room, and a nice outside patio(if it wasn’t snowing). The staff was as nice as the staff at the slopes… happy to be helping you enjoy a significant experience. One of our meals(just two of us) wasn’t fully enjoyed, due to being a little salty. They comp’ed the meal even when we objected. Great wines and an all together great evening. Don’t miss it!

Service and ambiance: 10. There was a live pianist, great view of Main Street, and all the servers were incredibly nice, quick and efficient. Food: 6. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t amazing. We started off with the fresh baked cinnamon roll and fresh baked banana bread. These were great starters! Pair them with their delicious coffee for a perfect way to start your brunch. We got the gingerbread pancakes, hue is rancheros and Nutella stuffed French toast. As I said before they weren’t amazing but also weren’t bad. Even though the food wasn’t amazing, I say this restaurant is a must-go! The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous!

A little underwhelming. Upon arrival, we were asked to wait at the bar, but there was no service there. we just waited. No drinks, no water, no menus. Forty five minutes after we got there, we had bread. We had the lamb and wild game trio. First off, everything had too much salt. Lamb was good. No complaints. The trio of wild game was just overdone to the point the meat, which was the star, was overwhelmed. One cut was slathered in huckelberry. Another cut was swimming in a wine reduction. Tone it down and it would have been great. The kitchen tried to do too much with it and it was mediocre. Great space and attentive staff. Although I think that making reservations 3 months in advance would show my respect for the restuarant. I would.expect.a little respect in return. I did not like being seated by the door to the bathroom. Maybe I caught the restaurant on a bad night but I don’t see how this restuarant is so well rated.

Our longtime Park City-vacationing family took us here for dinner the first night we were in town. It was jam packed when we arrived which is always a good sign. I started off with the beet salad and found it to be fresh and full of flavor. The beets were beautiful and accompanied by greens. My entrée was the macadamia encrusted halibut with mashed potatoes and a mango jam/purée on the plate. This was a knockout dish. It was a generous portion of fish, was crusted perfectly and had a lovely buttery finish. The mango was a wonderful compliment to every bite. Our server was gregarious and fun. He gave us great tips and direction on the menu. He said he wouldn’t let us down and he didn’t lie. I really enjoyed my time here and will definitely be back.
