Affordable, delicious and conveniently located near work. Portions are good. Timing for my food was a bit long and it wasn’t piping hot as it usually is. Still one of my go to lunch spots.

Food is good but the service is subpar at best. Staff couldn’t be more unfriendly and unwelcoming. Not sure I’d want to go there again

Great location with the ever satisfying food that Flame Broiler provides! Between this location and the one in PB, I’d come here. The staff is always friendly, tables are always clean and the food is always spot on. Not saying that the food at PB isn’t just as good but at times the tables are dirty and you’re bound to run into a couple homeless people hanging out on the corner of the building complex. As for what to get, everything here is great and I’ve virtually tried everything they have! My go to’s are the half and half and the works, in which I usually side with the latter. Regardless of what you order I’m pretty much going to guarantee you’re going to be satisfied. Just make sure you throw some of the magic sauce on it and a little hot sauce as well. Oh and the Mission Valley location has«hot hot sauce» which is a tad bit spicier than the regular hot sauce and it’s not as vinegary(not sure if PB has it as I haven’t been there in a while). They also play country music here from time to time which is a plus in my books!

As good and simple as it gets. The Flame Broiler solves many lunch problems. Their bowls are priced right($ 6 — 8) and their perfect for those in a hurry(maybe 5 minutes from order to service). I found the taste of the Flame Broiler to be superior to WaBa Grill. Issues — Panhanders and crappy parking.

I had heard good things about this place, so I was happy to NOT be disappointed after trying this place for the first time. My sister and her boyfriend got the half and half(chicken and angus steak) bowl with brown rice and onions, while I got the chicken bowl with white rice. I think the mini size would’ve been perfect for me, but I got the regular sized bowl. The portions are pretty huge! It’s surprising how much meat can fit in their bowls, it’s like magic. Speaking of magic, their magic sauce is literally magic. It makes the bowl that much better. Well, the bowl is delicious to begin with, but the magic sauce adds 10x more flavor. The service was quick, so that made me happy! I wouldn’t really consider this place fast food, but I guess that’s what it is considered. It was fast, though, so I guess that’s accurate! All in all, The Flame Broiler satisfies hunger for a cheap price with great portions.

2 stars for serving size is too small. I ordered the regular size bowl and the pic is the portion that was given to me, looks like it’s missing a little bit more. I love flame broiler too. The stars are at least for good service and hopefully I’m not grading too low, but for a food place it’s all about the food. The owners are great but the serving size didn’t fil the bowl, it looks like the mini serving size, glad I didn’t get that, but I definitely paid for the regular size $ 6.40 plus tax. The Mira Mesa location is way better with portions. I love that spot but it’s too far from my new home.

You know what to expect with Flame Broiler. I’m a big fan. I always go with the white rice chicken bowl. You normally open up your bowl and its stuffed with chicken where you can’t even see any rice below. This location, whoever made my bowl was a little hungry and did some sampling or forgot to put a contact in their left eye cuz that side of my bowl was missing a big chunk of chicken.

I’ve been hooked to this place ever since I first tried it up in Irvine when I was in college. I had no idea there were a couple locations down here. The simplicity of the menu is what makes this place great. Grilled beef or chicken, white or brown rice, veggies or none, and do you want to add green onions are the only questions you need to think about here. I usually get the works bowl when I come and its dirt cheap. Around $ 7 for a filling bowl of steamed veggies, rice, and both chicken and beef. The meats here are super flavorful and have a nice char flavor to them. You can’t mention flame broiler without mentioning the crack magic sauce. I swear there is crack in there because it’s really addicting! Not only is this place light on your wallet, it’s also light on your figure. Really healthy but filing food.

I love Flame Broiler but I won’t be back to this one… They said they can’t do a mini chicken and veggie bowl with rice(my standard at all other locations) — only chicken with veggies or chicken with rice. I’m bummed because this location is closest to my office.

Food wise this location trumps the PB location. Ordered the works bowl with chicken breast instead of dark meat. Veggies were cooked perfectly and the chicken breast was so lean with wonderful grill marks. *stomach growls*. Minus a star because some of the tables needed to be cleaned and they didn’t have trays for outside seating.

Actually not that bad, had a quick lunch earlier. I had the Works, which is chicken, beef and veggies and I had it on top of brown rice. It was cooked nicely. The price range is definitely not bad either. The only thing that put me off was the hot sauce they had, I didn’t like it at all. It would probably taste good on wings because that’s what it tasted like, buffalo sauce. It was kind of gross in my opinion. But their«magic sauce» is good, but I’m almost pretty sure it’s just teriyaki sauce.

I often place large orders at various restaurants for work lunch meetings, and it is rare that I receive the amazing service from a business that I received from Susan at this location. Susan went above and beyond to ensure that the order I made for 25+ people was not only prepared and finished in a timely manner, but that it was packaged in a way that was easy to carry to my car, and complete with all the sauce and utensils I needed for my business meeting. All of the orders were prepared to perfection as well! They were labeled with the appropriate names, which made my life so much easier. Thank you Susan for making this difficult request possible. We appreciate your superb customer service, and will definitely be back!

I ordered the chicken veggie bowl and subbed my rice for extra veggies. The food tasted a little too good to be considered healthy. Well, the chicken at least. Tasted a little sweet and seemed to be all dark meat. The veggies remind me of the veggies from Sarku in the food court of every other mall, but has less seasoning than Sarku. Overall, it was okay. Quick and easy meal to go.

Update: Healthy food for All! I have picky kids and the Flame Broiler has become a family go to for healthy family food. The kids love the lightly sauced chicken and beef bowls with VEGGIES! Love this place.

Holy cow! That was amazing! I was sure I would not like it after the not so great service, but it was awesome! We each had«The Works Plate». A plate composed of chicken, beef, steamed vegetables, cabbage salad with oh so great dressing(ask for extra), sliced orange, and white rice or brown. All for $ 8.60! My very first visit and I can’t wait to go back! While the meal was already great I still drizzled the«magic sauce» and«hot sauce» on top.(Ps. Magic sauce, a thicker sweet teriyaki, I could pour on absolutely everything!) I so look forward to my return! I do wish the service were better but I would not let that stop me.

3.5 stars Simple and quick. Just the way I like it especially when I’m in the run on a work day. The chicken bowl with brown rice and veggies is my go to and is a solid choice. Chicken is good just right with plenty of flavor. The steamed vegetables are also cooked just right and never mushy. I’ve also had the mixed chicken and beef bowl with brown rice which isn’t bad but on occasion the beef was a little chewy. For a fast food and healthier option you can’t go wrong with the Flame Broiler.

Looked up somewhere healthy and nearby my office for a quick lunch break and this place came up. And boy let me tell you, this place is quick. Maybe it was that I came at 1pm after the lunch rush or maybe they pre-make everything and just put it together when you order but I ain’t complaining. Got the works bowl(chicken, beef, veggies, brown rice) which was pretty meh, but covered it with that magic sauce and boy did it make a difference. Pretty sure it’s a mix of soy and teriyaki sauce. There’s no wow factor to this place but something decent and quick to eat.

I have to say I am a fan of the simplicity of the food here. I usually order the half and half over brown rice, which I did not, but this time I ordered chicken only over vegetables, topped with scallions, and and iced tea( ). The was all thigh meat, not that there is anything wrong with that, and its was well seasoned and tender( ) I like the color they developed on it and its flavor with a juicy texture( ). The Scallions on top were crispy and fresh, and I enjoyed the abundance of steamed vegetables underneath. The carrots and broccoli were both cooked to a tender touch, and the cabbage was not over cooked, because if it were, I would not of liked that at all( ). Even being lunch rush, the service was quick. By the time I filled my iced tea, my meal was already on the counter. Talk about fast food. The lady who was working the counter was nice, but I could tell she wanted to speed things along. No small talk, so sad… Good quick lunch spot…

I guess you can go wrong when some thing is too simple. The staff is not friendly nor welcoming and that includes the lady who looks like she’s the manager. There are only about six things to choose from and your options are either a bowl or plate. The bowl is a mix of meat and white or brown rice and then you have the option of adding veggies. Your choices of meat are chicken or «angus beef». As for the plates, you can add a salad and«seasonal fruit» aka half an orange. I decided on the Angus Beef Bowl with Veggies. It was not good at all. The quality of the meat was poor. Sliced at a medium cut and burnt. No flavor in anythig and their Magic Sauce isn’t even that good. The only thing is that it’s filling and their veggies were hot(and very watered down). They don’t even make their Kimchi or let you try any if you wanted to purchase it. Next time I’ll go to CBW across the street.
