Port of Subs

This place is a wonderful sandwich shop. The owner is a really nice guy, and hires the right, humble staff that knows how to make a damn good sandwich. Everything is fresh, cut right in front of you, and if you like a nice Italian sandwich the #1 is a no brainer. The level of service, good sandwiches, and the friendly approach has definitely made me a repeat customer. Do yourself a favor, bypass crappy old Subway and try one of these. You won’t regret it!

I honestly didnt like the food. The bread tasted pretty fresh but i ordered a #3 with turkey, salami and provolone and I swear i was eating straight bread. Its nice they slice the meat right there infront of you so you know its fresh but my meat was PAPER thin, hardly had anything on it, It was like I was only eating sourdough, I could only taste sourdough uhg it was terrible. This was my first time ever going there too):

One of the Worst subs I’ve ever had! To start of all of the ingredients we’re disgusting. Lettuce was turning brown, tomatoes were old and sliced so thin that they we’re clear. I ordered a large sub and I received one piece of cheese and even less meat. It looked like the owner was definitely in charge of slicing the meat and he made sure to give us the minimal amount .I’m honestly shocked that this place is open.
Note to owner — subs are supposed to have meat.

I have eaten at this Port of Subs since the early 90s. They have been around for a long time, and for good reason. The sandwiches are delicious, and the service (especially at this particular location) is top notch.

Always stop here on our way out of Lake Tahoe. Amazing sub. at a decent price. worth the wait that happens everytime.

Glorified subway. Prices are too steep for the quality of food. Once was enough for me.

Super awesome picnic pack 2 ft long sandwich. 4 bags of chips and 4 desserts. Great price $ 23.50, can’t beat that with a sledgehammer

everybody is extremely helpful & friendly. I got a #1 and the boyfriend got a #5 both sandwiches were fresh & delicious. Thank you guys! We will definitely stop by the next time we are in town.

As a Tahoe local and a huge fan of grabbing a sandwich on my lunch break, I highly recommend Port of Subs.
I give a 5 star review for: 1.) top notch tuna sandos, 2.) a wide variety of fresh meats, cheeses and sandwich toppings — including capital (or gabagool), 3.) professional, quick, friendly service, 4.) super affordable, 5.) lunch combos are an option, 6.) second half of my sandwich is always great leftovers for the next day ;) 7.) they also do sandwich platters which are good for work functions, 8.) I’ve never had a poor customer experience at this establishment!!!

Fast, fresh, friendly and filling… what else could you ask for from a sandwich spot? Well it always hits the spot when it comes to POS. First time at this location but I have been to others prior to my Unilocaling days. I wish there were more around Cali.

I have been a Port of Subs fan for almost 25 years now and so I was super excited to stop by this location in South Lake Tahoe.
The outside of the building is older, but the inside is nice and clean with plenty of seating inside and out. Service was super friendly and we had our sandwiches made and ready to eat in minutes.
I ordered my favorite sandwich; the Vegetarian with smokey cheddar cheese, avocado, lettuce, mayonnaise, mustard, oil, vinegar and spices on a wheat roll. Yummy! This one did not disappoint and it was delicious. The Husband got their Pastrami on white and enjoyed his as well.
I love Port of Subs better than any other sandwich shop because their bread is always super fresh, they carry smokey cheddar, and their sandwiches have more spices and flavor than any place else.
I will always come back to this Port of Subs location when in the area. A South Lake Tahoe gem!

Friendly staff, fresh ingredients, and loved the sub! Their 12″ is a real 12″, not at all like Subway which cheats you.
They cut the meat right in front of you. Reasonable pricing as well. I ordered the peppered pastrami and Swiss. Everything tasted delicious. Their pickles that they use are very tasty.
Wish they had one of these in the Bay Area!

They were extremely polite and very nice. Huge sandwiches and they load the toppings! Did I mention they slice all their meats and cheeses to order? Best sandwich shop in South Lake!
