Dont’ waster your time. Just go to Kinders or Burger King. This place is horrible. Listed below are all the things that happened to us during our lunch 1) No Bacon in the burger, even though the menu says there was. They forgot our Applewood Smoked Bacon 2) The fries was brown outside but frozen inside! What the heck? We asked them to cook it again… 3) Cashier lied to me and told me that they were not serving Sweet Potato Fries that day, but one of my co workers got some? We miss Hollywood Grill that used to be here. Please come back Hollywood Grill!!!

Don’t order medium-rare, because it comes out REALLY rare. Like it was still cold/raw/red inside, not pink like I normally get at other burger joints. I actually couldn’t eat the middle of it, was too gross. I don’t understand their pricing, sometimes I get charged extra for bacon, sometimes I do not. It’s never consistent, which is sorta annoying. I like that I can get garlic or sweet potato fries, for no extra charge. The onion rings are nothing special though, and not really worth the extra $ unless you REALLY want some. Their hours either just changed, or they have been closing early. They use to be open till 9, but today they were closed at 8 when I came by. Oh well. The prices are decent, and the quality is about the same as Gordo’s and Hollywood Grill(the 2 stores before them) but their chicken isn’t as good as Gordo’s. Gordo’s gave you like a ½ lb slab of chicken breast, and these guys hardly have it cover the bun. The owner//staff are nice, and the service is good. Overall, it’s a nice place to get your burger fix, but don’t go out of your way for it unless you really want breakfast at 5pm(which is awesome.)

A common trend with the weekends I spend with my boyfriend, he asks that I find a breakfast place before we went on our ritual walking. I found CJ’s through my Unilocal app. Definitely a very«quick» eat place that serves a quality amount of food, especially for breakfast. I ordered the The CJ, which consist of hash browns, eggs, bacon(choice), and waffles. The entire plate of breakfast goodies was delicious and very filling. I was however quite disappointed with the waffles. Something about their batter was off. I tasted a lot of cinnamon and it was too doughy for my liking. The service was quick and their coffee was okay, but it was just coffee and a pick-me-up. It was a good choice and I wasn’t too disappointed.

I’ve now been here 3x and it seems like it gets worse and worse. I went to CJ’s after church on Sunday and I decided to try one of their omelets. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I could swear they used only 1 egg because it was so tiny(I wish I could change the font to really highlight the tininess of this omelet.) Luckily, I’m not a big eater but really??? One egg? or maybe it was two little eggs??? Who knows but I guess I’ve just been spoiled by the massive omelets I get at Jim’s in Pleasanton. Now, if you want a REAL omelet, you gotta check that place out! 4 – 5 eggs at least! Anyway, I’ll probably not go back to CJ’s — there must be another«local, mom and pop» breakfast joint in WC but I’m steadily losing hope…

How does this place keep getting better and better!!! I came here again with a co-worker yesterday. We called ahead so we would have extra time to eat outside in the awesome weather. I ordered a chicken sandwich because I am trying to be healthy — but when you add bacon, cheese and avocado, that goes out the window with the onion rings that I also ordered. My co-worker ordered a burger and a bacon wrapped hot dog to go. It was all delicious, even though they went a little heavy on the sauces. One of the things that I thing I appreciate the most is the way the cashier(who I think owns the place) was talking to us. She asked where were worked, and we ended up getting into a pretty good conversation about out medical practice. Very cool. Also, in response to my earlier voiced concern about the sweet potato fries, they have put a sign on the counter, explaining why their sweet potato fries don’t stay crispy like the regular fries. These people are great and my office and I will continue to come here as long as they will have us :) I am actually tempted to get breakfast for lunch next time I come in…

I am still tasting the garlic fries today… I don’t understand what the obsession is with THAT much garlic on anything. Thank you Gilroy. CJ’s make a solid burger — great list of toppings for the burger and it genuinely has that backyard barbecue kind of taste. I was so happy to see they even have green chile as an option. Big bonus. I definitely want to get back to try the Philly Cheesesteak sando’s and the hot dogs. I wasn’t a big fan of the fries — nor am I a fan of fries in general, so take that with a clove of garlic, or in this case a bucket of garlic. Great location — right by Heather Farms park — plus it sits in a nice little shopping center that has plenty of other cool places to visit. People were very friendly, too.

I had the bacon wrapped hotdog with cheese that was amazing. Too bad the owners allow the kids to run around like CRAZY while annoyingly beating on the pinball machine. When one of the kids said, «daddy can I play?» He responded with, «not now honey, we don’t have enough customers so I don’t have quarters.» Granted…times are hard… nobody wants to bite into their bacon wrPped hotdog while listening to other peoples hard times. Restaurants are an escape from reality. Otherwise, I’d stay home and worry about my own issues. ***After pondering my review above, I’ve decided to soften the sharp edges. I can admit when I’m wrong and/or hasty. CJ’s is great… hands down. I was having a pretty crappy day and unfortunately everything was getting on my nerves. A VERY loving, caring couple greeted us with nothing but smiles and awesome customer service. They explained it all to us, all the way down to what a pain it was to find the perfect hot dog and damn it… they’ve got the perfect hotdog! The kids weren’t loud and obnoxious, they were being happy kids that were very obviously being taken care of by loving parents in their family restaurant. God bless em for being a family… doing things as a family and loving their children. To the owner, I apologize for being harsh and Unilocaling while under the influence of a shitty day. I promise it won’t happen again. :0)

I wonder if the quality has gone down since the new ownership happened. The sweet potato fries were limp, requested fixins were left off, and the milkshake was just okay. Four people set us back almost $ 50, which would have been fine, if the burgers were mind-blowing. They weren’t, however.

This is my favorite place in Walnut Creek for breakfast. They have a great breakfast sandwich that is quick and healthy. Not like the fast food version. Everything is cooked to order and they use good meats and healthy products. I also love the pinball machine.

i have finally found a really great place that serves breakfast all day without having to go to a crappy chain restaurant and it’s cj’s all american grill in walnut creek. this is a new place in a doomed location but i have a feeling it’s going to do very well. i was looking for something different for dinner but i was really craving breakfast so i headed out to walnut creek thinking my only bet was black bear diner. i wasn’t too thrilled about my descision but i really didn’t have many other good options until i stumbled on this place. they have a really good looking menu with burgers, chicago style hot dogs and beef sandwiches and of course breakfast all day long. right away when i stepped inside i knew i loved this place right off the bat because they have an old school pinball machine and an old mrs. pac man game table. i already knew what i wanted so i stepped up to the counter and ordered me some breakfast. eggs– PERFECT ham– GREAT country potatoes– LOVEDEM waffle– SODARNGOOD everything was great and i’m so excited i finally have a new breakfast place i can have for dinner. next time i really need to try the chicago beef sandwich for sure because it looks really good.

CJ’s is a huge improvement over the previous restaurant in this location. They have really great Italian Beef sandwiches and very good burgers. I love the garlic fries and the prices are reasonable for what you get. The owners are very nice but seem new to running a quick serve restaurant. This has caused some very slow service and a bit of confusion at the counter. I’m sure they’ll get the kinks worked out and then I’ll be able to give them a better review. Till then it’s got to be 3 stars. Food: Great Service: Slow and inconsistant.

I know that people expect this to be a burger joint since the last couple of places here were, however it’s not what it’s about. This place is just straight authentic Chicago — Chicago dogs, Italian beef, and hot pastrami. I’m sure the burgers are good as well but I wouldn’t come here for a burger. Do yourself a favor and go here and order the Italian beef and make sure it is dunked. The owner is also very nice and helpful.

BREAKFASTREVIEW: Came here with a friend on a weekday morning. Service: Friendly and attentive but not intrusive. It’s nice that they have dog treats in a jar on the counter for the morning dog walkers that come by for breakfast. Didn’t bring a dog today but it was a nice touch I noticed. Food: I ordered a breakfast burrito, my friend had a waffle, eggs and hash browns. Everything was solid, nothing amazing, but satisfying. Prices were reasonable. Verdict: I’d come back to check out the burgers. Breakfast again would have to mean I specifically was looking for a hot breakfast in that area.

I’ve since been back here about 6 times in the last 2 months. I’m VERY disappointed in the service and overall«professionalism». My wait for food(with only a few customers around) has been 15 minutes to almost 1 hour! The quality of the burgers are not as good as they once were. The menu is confusing and has WAYTOOMANYITEMS(they even make breakfast all-day). They badly need to step back and simplify their menu. I would suggest a quick trip over to the new Habit Burger Grill to see how a real operation works. The main problem is you can’t simply order a burger… you pay $ 7.99 no matter if you don’t want the fountain soda or fries. My wife ordered their side salad to go, and for $ 6 she got literally a small handful of lettuce in a small hamburger to-go container… REALLY?!? $ 6 for THAT? I have talked with the owner on many occasions, and he and his wife are very nice people, but unfortunately are not running a restaurant well. I really wanted so badly for this place to be good, but it has now slipped into the so-so category(bummer). I will give it another try sometime, but for now I’ll drive across town and eat at Habit instead.

Yay CJ’s! It’s a pretty cool place, imo. There is like, no ambiance at all lol, but it makes up for it with its good food! I went there with my mom the other day– we had a coupon for buy one get one free entrée. I got the banana berry pancakes and my mom got the CJ special or something… lol I forget what it was called, but I really liked my pancakes! I love the banana, and the blackberries on top with blackberry syrup was yummy :) My moms food looked great, too! She said she really liked it. I like this place because it doesn’t try too hard to be something that its not(like a lot of ritsy décor but so-so food places in Walnut Creek). Its just a simple place to grab some breakfast or lunch(or brunch). No fancy tables. No scary words on the menu. Just a simple breakfast at a simple place. I definitely appreciated the simplicity. I’ll be back for more!

I ordered the CJ’s burger. I like the many options of fixings that can be applied to your burger which includes bacon at no extra charge. They have several types of fries(regular, sweet, garlic) to offer. For a little over $ 8, you get the burger, fries and drink. pretty good deal. Looking forward to checking out their breakfast which is served all day.

I was happy to see that they have Italian Beef Sandwiches so I just had to order one and it didn’t disappoint. It was nice and soggy and I added giardiniera peppers so it actually was as close to a Chicago style Italian Beef as I’ll find around this area. Pretty damn good!

A friend from Chicago recommended this place for an authentic Italian Beef. I was not disappointed. An ample portion of beef. A roll flown in from Chicago. Giardiniera. What more can you ask for? I walked by this place several times until the recommendation. I’d definitely suggest giving it a try. Food’s great and the owner is there to make sure your experience is more than satisfactory.

The owner already contacted me regarding the wait for food,(which impressed me) to inform me that there was a staffing issue on New Years Day, which is understandable after New Year’s Eve. I will definitely be coming back because I’ve already been spreading the word about the bacon wrapped hot dog!

I am also thrilled that Hollywood Grill is a thing of the past. What a joke that place was… thank god for CJ’s! I met the owners before they opened and they had great plans for this place and looks like they are making them all happen. My only recommendation is that they have Pancakes and Waffles on the dinner menu! Wouldn’t it be great if you could go have pancakes at 7pm? They did say they were planning a special Chicken and Waffles type thing for a special. That would be good but I want pancakes available everyday! Now, onto the food… the food was darn good. My friend had the Hot wings and sweet potato fries. The wings needed a bit more crisp and the sp fries tasted good but didn’t look too good. I had the Chicago Vienna Dog! YUM. Super good and hand cut fries and a soda. The best part is that CJs doesn’t try and charge you an arm and a leg either. 6.99 for meal and soda! They are good folks and this is their dream. They are there everyday. It’s not owned by some big investment group who are detached from the customer. Definitely give this place a try.
