Go to Fin for the bar; great drinks, awesome bartenders, and a really great happy hour. And that’s all you should get at Fin, drinks. The food is terrible. $ 7 cup of Clam Chowder, which tasted old and vinegary. $ 9 for Ceviche that was not properly executed, not fresh and it was soupy. I poured half of the water out just to find the canned tomatoes and gross scallops. YUCK! It hit happy hour while I was there so I was tempted into trying other items for half off, the Calamari and the Spring rolls. Both were so heavy with red onion I couldn’t eat them. The Calamari was rubbery and soaked in sweet chili sauce. YUCK! I wasn’t about to try anything else. Drinks should get four stars! But in no way would I recommend this place to eat, try somewhere else or eat before coming.

The calamari at Fin was unique in its taste, I like your normal calamari, this one was soft and had different kinds of spices. You wouldn’t expect very good calamari in the middle of Montana, but I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve had the surf and turf skewer, while my colleague had the 6 ounce steak. The surf and turf was OK, but nothing special. Fin had a nice relaxed atmosphere, and a very good ambience in general.

Not good. Buffet $ 25! Jiggly raw Eggs Benedict. Searching for an identity. Poor service. Poor bar tending. Next!

Brought a group of about 10 colleagues to this homey little bistro and had a great time! We settled into the enclosed area in the back(great for groups) and had drinks(local-brewed favorites on tap), appetizers(really liked the asparagus and shitake mushrooms), and delicious entrees. I had the Espresso Beef Filet, which was perfectly cooked at medium, and was complimented by a light, sweet sauce. Price was very reasonable, and service was excellent!

The design of this place is great(sans the big screen tv in the bar; what kind of place does this want to be? Fine dining or sports bar? It kept distracting me during dinner). The caesar salad I ordered was mostly dried out shreds of parmesan with absolutely no flavor. The dessert was coconut ice cream, which seemed to be just dehydrated coconut? Yuck. Won’t be back.

I have now dined at Fin three times. I will not be back. The first time, the food was mediocre at lunch. The second time, the calamari was so spoiled in my bouillabaisse that it would’ve made me sick. If I were not there on a business meeting I would’ve sent it back and probably left the restaurant at once. The third time was dinner and the food was mediocre again with insane pricing for what was put on the plate. The name of the restaurant is Fin but yet there fish selection is completely pedestrian. They have salmon, tuna, crab, and the fish you can find it every other restaurant in Bozeman. If you’re going to promote yourself as a fish restaurant, bring in something unique and original. Furthermore, learn how to cook it. In short, the food was bland, the prices were high, and the portions were small. I probably would have rather gone to a chain seafood restaurant and I hate chain restaurants.

Fantastic beer selection and delicious and creative food. Waitress was knowledgeable about all the beer available. We walked up and down Main St. trying to find a good looking menu and we are so glad we ate here!

I almost never give 5 stars but Fin is an exceptional restaurant. My wife and I think it is the best in Bozeman. Menu, food and ambience were great. Craig our server was terrific.

The design of Fin looked inviting but their poor service and organization was not. With only 3 tables of diners, the service was incredibly slow where we couldn’t wait to immediately leave. Three tables on a Saturday night should have been a red flag for this horrendous establishment

I have never seen such a friendly crew of people. My husband mentioned our headlight was out and they all tried to help us find a place to get it fixed. Not to mention the food was delicious. Just the right size portions. Sicilian salad with salmon was delicious. The lobster ravioli was an ample portion and very creamy and delicious on a bed of spinach. Décor is awesome.

I’m not sure what’s going on here, but the food is tastes different from a few months ago. This are not as delicious. Therefore, I’m updating my 5 stars to 3 stars.

Didn’t expect to eat at a seafood restaurant in landlocked mountain town Bozeman. This was one of the only places open on July 4th. I ordered the Baja fish & shrimp tacos– one of each. Pretty good — comes with a side of beans(missing seasoning) & mango slaw(delicious). My husband had the andouille sausage sliders — the bread was nicely toasted and the sausage was spicy and yummy. Our sons had the kids mini burgers and the buttery Parmesan noodles, both of which they enjoyed. I wish more restaurants would offer a healthy side for children– that was the only thing missing. Overall– nice ambience, good service, good food.

We ate here tonight and had an excellent experience. I had the Denver sole and my date had the lobster ravioli. Both were very good, although I slightly preferred the sole… probably just my taste. Had the calamari to start, which was a very busy dish compared to other restaurant’s calamari. But, it was a fun change and perfectly cooked. Service left nothing to be desired and I love that they have a patio! happy to finally have good seafood in Bozeman.

Come around 10 for cheap draft beers! Chill spot 10⁄10 would come again. Enough TVs to watch whatever you want. Doug was friendly and easy to talk to and provided great fast service.

My husband and I had gone to Fin on a Friday evening that we happened to find ourselves without kids. This doesn’t happen too often, and I dont need to explain why we were looking so forward to having an evening out at a nice restaurant with good food, great wine list, cozy atmosphere. We had none of these experiences at Fin. First, we were greeted in a friendly manner, however there was a bit of casual«hey, how’s it going». Not until we stood in the middle of the resturant did anyone ask if we would like«dinner for 2?» The wait staff was like a bunch of kids hanging out in their own personal bar. Far more waitstaff than customers. Only one other couple at the bar were patrons, also another couple or small group in seated dining area. I could over look the poor service(at one point our distracted waitress started a conversation with a neighboring patron at the bar while taking my husband’s order.) If the food was even Ok. I ordered a house salad and that was less than impressive. Costco bagged greens with mealy grape tomatoes, and commercially prepared croutons. The lowlights of our meals were the«steamers»: mussels and clams in a white wine butter garlic and herb broth. I normally love ordering this at resturants… I usually get a fresh batch of these little seafood jewelsin a glossy buttery decadent broth. At Fin, I recieved a gamey fish version in a scalded brown broth that resembled vomit, in odor and in appearance. The waitress did however offer to comp them after I asked how they were prepared and she condescendingly told me what mussels are and how they are served. My husband’s steak on the kabobs were actually cooked perfectly. The poorly executed wilted greens on his plate resembled more something like over cooked spinach. To end everything, not only was the mussel«steamer» not good, not taken off our bill, but we were overcharged. One appetizer, two mediocre glasses of wine, two less than fresh salads, one entrée, bad service cost 80plus bucks. Save your palette and your wallet. Also stay away from the ceviche. This is a bowl of vinegar and less than fresh shrimp. Served with cold tortilla chips. Yuk.

Due to G.D.‘s 1÷15−2015 review we were alerted to a gorgeous dinning experience. Please ignore earlier reviews because they simply are no longer accurate, and you will miss an outstanding evening in all respects! Our only problem now is that we want to go to Fin for dinner every night! Great menu with delivery of what they say, and a very high grade bar. You can also get a steak you Montana beef folks. Be sure to try the unique and exquisitely delicious calamari small plate. The new chef, Christian Stewart, have brought a gentle Louisiana touch to the large menu, from outstanding fish entries to nice meat choices. You cannot go wrong spending an evening enjoying great ambiance, service, bar, and food at a very fair price.

Real seafood in downtown Bozeman! I can’t say enough about how good Fin has gotten since they recently welcomed Chef Christian Stewart. The 2nd Street Bistro in Livingston lost a great chef when Stewart left, but Fin has gained a real Chef de Cuisine, and their menu is vastly improved and infused with a modern, sometimes Cajun influence. Although I’ve heard good things about their lunches(particularly the Baja Fish or Shrimp Tacos and the Fin Burger), I’ve only had the dinner menu. The Char-grilled Oysters appetizer is to die for and the Scallops & Risotto appetizer is a longtime favorite. Glad they kept The Wedge salad because it’s a winner. On the entrée menu — the Stuffed Dover Sole is elegant and fantastic. The Cioppino is also a delicious carry-over from the previous menu but seems to have a bit more sparkle these days. The seafood cocktail is a classic featuring fresh langostino, shrimp, crab legs, and drawn butter. The Surf & Turf Skewers were excellent but the accompanying Green Apple Jalapeño Polenta Cake was a game changer. I’ve never made it to the dessert course here because I usually stuff myself silly on the appetizers, salads, and main courses. If you tried Fin before and felt it lacked direction with a boring menu, I urge you to give it another try. The menu and food are so improved that it’s hardly the same restaurant. I would’ve given it 5 stars for the food, but the service is a bit slow. I suggest allowing the host/hostess take the cocktail order rather than waiting for the wait person to come around.

I was a bit underwhelmed by my fish & chips. The housemade chips were very crisp, but if you’re a big french fry fan you may want to stick to the fries(they were lacking something). The ketchup had a weird flavor — very vinegary and distracting from the happy potato + tomato flavor I was looking for. The breading was pretty darn heavy and greasy on the fish. Service was appropriately attentive, and sitting in the outdoor area on a sunny afternoon was really enjoyable(great iced tea as well). If I run out of new places to try on my visits to Bozeman I may give Fin another shot, but overall it was underwhelming.

Very, very disappointed. In fact, based upon the Unilocal reviews, I had to check twice to ensure I was reviewing the correct place. Went for lunch and … Service was nearly nonexistent; i.e. server disappeared for long stretches, water never refilled, didn’t come back to check on quality. Order was wrong TWICE; the server responded«oh, yea, my bad …» to the first issue, and then«man, we just can’t get your order right» for the second. You’d think that if they get your order wrong twice, they’d comp that specific meal. But, no, they did not, nor did they even apologize. As others wrote, the fish tacos were bland, uninspired and so watery that my second taco disintegrated before I finished my first. Given our negative experience, the poor quality of service, and the very bland(and twice wrong) food, we won’t return. *update fixed a typo

I really feel bad about writing this review because I really was looking forward to a new place I could be stoked about, but Fin just isn’t that place. I went there on a little date night with my fiancé tonight and instantly my eyes about popped out of my head at the prices. 1 lb of lobster(which took the shell into account for weight) was 75DOLLARS. and ½ pound of King Crab was 50. I’m from NC and am no stranger to seafood and i know for a fact that it doesn’t take that much to ship it to Montana. I had been to Santa Fe Reds(previous business) lots of times and always found their bar to be more intriguing than the food. The new restaurant is no exception. we ordered the calamari. Being a huge calamari fan, I was not expecting the cold, soft edible rubber that was presented to me. the taste was great, but I ate about two pieces before I couldn’t choke it down anymore. I stuck with my beer. By this time, plates and our menus still remained at our table… I ordered the steak filet which seemed reasonably priced at 26 bucks. I ordered it medium rare and after the calamari and the menu, my hopes weren’t too high. the first bite was ok, but as I continued to chew, i knew this was not filet. My third bite in, I cut a slice off and stared at a dark maroon piece. Sensing this steak wasn’t going to get better, I cut it in half and what stared back at me was nothing short of a live cow pushing 65BPM. Disgusted I kindly told the waitress that I wasn’t interested in the steak anymore and she offered to take it off my bill. My fiances plate she didn’t eat either. It was tasteless and dry. she got the Chicken Capellini. The waitress made an odd excuse saying that the cooks yesterday were doing great and then by the end of the day trailed off into not cooking such good food… What? Who says that? a dessert was brought out to us as an apology and I think it was supposed to be chocolate mousse. It wasn’t very good either. I will say that the wait staff was super friendly and helpful. they honestly seemed to want to know how to get better. Unfortunately, I don’t think they can change before the business goes under. I don’t see Fin lasting to the end of this year. If you want mediocre seafood and meat, go to Olive Garden. It’s cheaper and better, sad to say
