To start off you get what you pay for. Being in a hurry during lunch and working in the medical center really limits your options. Be aware if you get your food here then it is coming from a place that is not that sanitary. Even the area outside the door smells. Food is ok but save your ten bucks and grab food at Methodist or something. Now off to the main reason I am writing the review, one of the delivery guys is extremely rude so if you are ordering for the office do not be surprised if the person walking through the door hates his job and gives you an attitude then expects a tip. If you put zero on the tip or make it to where he can add numbers so that he can get a tip BELIEVE me he will. This guy writes tips for himself and you will not notice until you look at your statement so if you have recently ordered from here check your statements people!

I give this place an A for effort. While they have a lot of potential to be a great burger joint, it is wasted with the lack of skills. The meat is good meat but the soggy lettuce and plan bun with over the top mayo does not do the meat any justice which brings the score down. The fries while a good ideal for fresh cut a bad ideal on the choice of oil used to cook them in and no seasoning at all makes the taste a lot to be desired. If they can step up their game and add fresher veggies to their burgers they could earn a higher rank and be on their way to a better tasting burger.

3.5 Stars I work at the BRC in the Texas Medical Center, and this is one of the places that I frequently go to for lunch. Although there’s a Chipotle around the corner, the lines are insanely long and to be honest, it does get boring after a while. Along comes Cliff’s, which is a nice classic American style diner serving up sandwiches, burgers, and other miscellaneous items. The food can sometimes be hit or miss. When I come during non-lunch hours, the food is definitely better. I sometimes order a burger and the patty is ridiculously thin. Other times, I get a really nice thick patty that tastes great, but I get the soggiest fries. Other times, I get a really nice basket of fries that have been properly double friend, but then the chicken in the sandwich is burnt on the side and is almost entirely bread. There are some days when everything goes right, but there are too many days when it goes wrong. The food is a little expensive, be prepared to pay around 10 – 11 dollars for a sandwich, fries, and a drink. However, the service is always fast and friendly and they do give you a lot of food. My advice, if you’re looking to eat somewhere other than Subway or Chipotle, try out Cliff’s. It’s a welcome change of pace. However, they really do need to fix some of the inconsistencies.

Excellent place if you’re visiting or working at the medical center. They have the best baked potatoes I’ve found around town, especially the chili and pulled pork potatoes. Don’t just try the burgers, make sure you try a baked potato!

I always pass by here coming back from work, so I decided to give it a try. The first thing I noticed when coming in is the place has a high end fast food vibe: small movable tables and chairs, little space, etc. That being said, it was pretty crowded, which is always a good sign. The cashier was super nice and told me that I get a discount with my Rice University ID. I ordered the spicy crisp chicken sandwich with fries. To be honest, it took a little longer than I thought to get my food(about 15 min.). The sandwich itself was worth the wait though. The chicken was moist, and the onion ring and chipotle sauce really made the dish standout. That being said, I wish there was more chicken, as the slice I got was super thin. I wasn’t very impressed by the fries. To me, there wasn’t enough seasoning and they were too greasy, but the texture was nice and crispy. All in all: Dining area: 2⁄5 Food: 3.5÷5 Service 4⁄5

Would not let me get the breakfast special for $ 5.95 and substitute hash browns with a biscuit. Instead made me order each item individually and charged $ 6.45. Denied having wifi even though my device found a secure wifi network called ‘Cliffs.‘ Friend found a hair in her food.

The burgers are amazing but my favorite is the gyro sandwich. I just wish they would deliver after 2pm though since I work afternoons in the Medical Center.

It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten here so I tried it again. They have a wide variety of hamburger choices and toppings, but in the end the burger was good, but nothing special. The fries however were not good at all. They were soggy, some were under cooked and had a strange taste to them. I only ate about half of them, which is not normal for me. If you come for lunch, I suggest ordering online or calling ahead. I would try it again because their menu is very diverse.

Stopped by for a burger. There was way more bun than burger. I think the bun actually weighed more than the burger! I ate the bacon cheese burger sans bun. The meat was juicy and delicious! The fries were okay. I would say an average visit. The counter guy was nice — asked me how my day was… Meal cost $ 11.00 and change. I may be back.

The food is really good here. Particularly the fried catfish, cheeseburgers and the Reuben sandwich. Fries are good, onion rings are amazing! But, it smells really bad in the restaurant. Like a broken sewer pipe bad. Hopefully this is just a temporary problem! Until then plan to get your food to-go, or sit outside.

Only giving a 1 star because my experience with the staff was HORRIBLE! I specifically asked the cashier girl about what I was ordering… She seemed very rushed to get me out the way and was confirming quickly, without fully understanding my question. When I get my food it was not what expected. Completely different and she was arguing with me about it when I brought it to her attention! I Asked for a manager, he came out and the girl who originally was helping me was still trying to give her story of what she told me, falsely I should emphasize. And I told the manager, I’m unsure of why she is getting so defensive because it’s not that serious for her to be as rude as she was to me when I was calm and talking to her right the whole time… His answer was, because she said she told you! Horrible staff. Seriously need an attitude adjustment. I ordered something else, got it in 2 mins and it was cold… Figures!

Try the Chicken Oscar sandwich. My favorite grilled chicken sandwich of all time! Just the right amount of spice and flavor that fills your whole mouth! The fries are great, too — always fresh. Highly recommended!

Tried this place for a quick lunch and was impressed. Got the bacon cheeseburger with fries. The food all tasted fresh and well cooked. Decently priced and quick service. The only drawback is that the day I went, they did not have any sweet tea made. I don’t drink soda’s so I had to settle for water. This was after I had already paid for the tea. Overall though, it was very good. I would defiantly go back for other meals.

I was really disappointed what could have been a good meal, well just wasn’t. The service was fine, but the quality of the food was mediocre at best. The french fries were good, but no better than any others. For a small shop in the middle of a cafeteria zone it isn’t bad, but there are other places close by that would be better except maybe the greasy uninviting barbecue place next door, it didn’t even look edible so I opted for cliffs, I probably should have driven somewhere else

Great quality ingredients! The swiss burger and fries were a little on the salty side but the meat was fantastatic! Great flavor and friendly service!

I’ve been to this burger place many times, today I tried the shrimp po-boy. What a disappointment! Tiny shrimp and the red sauce that comes with it is just canned tomato sauce! Why not just open a bottle of red sauce? I will say the fresh cut fries are great and I like the Philly cheese steak. The Buffalo burger is good. Its a good burger joint, just stay away from the shrimp po-boy!

Anatomy of a bad groupon. We paid $ 10 for $ 20 worth of food, figuring we don’t live too far from the medical center and it couldn’t hurt to try it. Plus there were some very good reviews. We drove down on a Saturday at lunch time, figuring the medical center wouldn’t be crowded and parking would be a breeze. The medical center wasn’t crowded. But the parking garage for Cliff’s building was closed — no visitor parking after 8PM and on weekends. Thanks a lot. After circling the block, we parked in the garage for the medical tower next door, and made our way to Cliff’s. I got a rueben sandwich and fries. My sandwich was on the small side but not bad. The fries, which reminded me of Beck’s Prime(that’s not a compliment), were much too soft. David got a mushroom swiss burger, and said the meat was dry and everything lacked flavor. He agreed the fries were terrible. We split a slice of carrot cake to make sure we got to $ 20, and it wasn’t bad either. Hiked back to the car, paid our $ 4 for parking(so much for the groupon savings) and rushed back to civilization. It annoys me that a place would do a groupon when it clearly caters only to medical center workers. There’s no parking. Even if they entice someone new to visit and they like it, they’re not going to come back. It was just stupid. New rule: don’t buy groupons to places you’ve never heard of or considered visiting. It just isn’t worth it.
